~thoughts~ equal Dark 'speaking' to Link, -thoughts- equal Link 'speaking' to Dark

+.+.+.+.+. Stands for passing time

Link:

The night was calm and silent; arms around waists and bodies resting against each other, nothing seemed to be able to disturb the peace. Each breath within both males' chests fell and rose in time with the other; the warm afterglow of love making creating a shield against the outside world, false peace echoed around them in the now silent room.

Link stirred slightly and nuzzled his head against his lover's chest, gathering the sleepy attention of the other. "Dark...wake up..." he mumbled, deep cerulean eyes blinking against the darkness of their new room.

Said shadow opened deep scarlet eyes lazily and gripped onto Link's waist tighter. "What love?" he murmured sleepily, kissing the blondes' forehead.

Link paused for a moment; unsure of what to say. His feelings of tragedy happening were at their strongest, he was unsure of what exactly he wanted to warn Dark about. "I... I'm getting a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach, like something big's about to happen and we can't stop it." he whispered, fear inching its way through him as the paranoia of being torn from Dark made itself apparent.

Dark raised a hand to Link's hair and gently swept the bangs from his eyes, slightly soothing the male. "Well...I can honestly say I know that feeling, and our gut feelings are never wrong usually. If something does happen so long as we have each other the world is right, right?" he teased, poking his loves nose.

Link sighed; he much loved Dark's playful sighed...but it didn't make the serious feeling go away...in fact, his indifference spiked it. Link moved, a frenzied determination to his movements as he straddled Dark's stomach and dug his hands into his loves shoulders.

"Promise me Dark... Promise me that no matter what happens; even if we get separated... promise me that we'll always have each other!" His tone was slightly panicked and uneven.

Dark sat up so that his back rested against the wall and wrapped his arms around Link, bringing him closer so that he was flush against the tanned chest with his head on Dark's shoulder. "I promise you Link that no matter how far, no matter how long... we will always have each other. I will never forget you; there is no other I could love but you."

In this time... those words were true.

Dark ran his hand through Link's hair, humming something under his breath that was calm and soothing, sounding more appropriate to be played on a Harp or Lyre than hummed (Sheik's theme). Link found his eyes closing as sleep crept forth once more to claim him...

"GUYS WAKE UP!"

The panicked voices of Alea and Nabooru broke the spell of slumber and had both males jumping from their bed and reaching for the twin swords beside it. "What's wrong?" they asked in unison, Link blushed upon realizing he was wearing was the small bit of blanket that had followed him during his jump.

As he reached for clothing Alea tapped her foot impatiently against the ground as Nabooru explained. "You guys need to leave, now. Go to Goron City any way possible; the forest, warp, walk just get there!"

Dark and Link exchanged a look as they slipped their respective tunics over their heads. "Why?" Link asked tentively, fearing he already knew the answer.

"Zelda... she has Impa and Ruto with her; she's looking for you Link... and I don't think we want to know what she wants with you." Nabooru's voice was filled with such hate for her fellow Sage that Link was once more slightly cowed by her levels of intimidation.

"... Why Goron city? Why not just leave for Termina now?" Link asked as he was hustled across the room by a nervous Sage of Spirit.

"Because you are Darunia's sworn brother and as such he can offer you protection from Zelda as well. Combined with the fact that you two are now the Kings of our people it provides you with political shielding as well." Alea explained as the four ran down the hallway clear of guards.

"Where are we going?" Dark inquired, sounding like he was calm and collected, but Link knew the truth. Ever since their first time joining their bond had become ever the morestronger; they could easily sense the others emotions and presence... even their hearts beat in time with each other. So Link knew that Dark was just as scared and nervous as he was.

"Right now? Just away from Impa, we don't have to worry about Ruto and Zelda doesn't fight. So we'll just get you away from the fortress and somehow to Goron City and you'll be- LOOK OUT!" Nabooru shouted as she shoved the males out of the way of a dark bolt of magic. "Shit she found us already!"

"Hand them over Nabooru, it would be foolish of you to try and continue the masquerade of everything being okay. They are criminals; on the run from the Sages and wanted by the Princess; don't do this to your people or yourself." Impa's cold and cruel voice rang out through the shadowy hallway, causing Nabooru to hiss.

"They are of my people now Impa! Your niece has become of my kin; Dark and Link have become our Kings! They are free people here; your Princess has no say here!" She snapped back, motioning for the ones she mentioned to step behind her.

Link peeked over her shoulder to glare at Impa; bloody ice stared back at him impassively. "Sheik had long since been gone in my eyes; she failed her duties and disgraced her ancestors... perhaps she won't be such a failure now that she is with the low lives she has always been part of. It matters not what they supposedly are, they are Hylians by blood and thus under Zelda's rule. They will be brought to justice."Another jolt of shadow magic flew by, Alea sneaked out her hand and it snaked around her before being thrusted back at Impa.

"You will not harm them Impa... not while they have their people behind them." her voice was strong and determined as she moved to stand in front of them.

"Guys...go." she hissed to them, her eyes glowing dark red as she glared at her aunt.

Nabooru shoved Alea behind her as she moved to the front of everyone. "Alea led them to safety, I will take care of this problem." there was a tone in her voice that made it known there was no arguing with her.

"Go ahead and try to run; you will fail in the end."

With a snarl Nabooru leapt forth and was surrounded by a blinding dark orange light for but a moment, crashing to the ground wearing the armor Koume and Kotake had forced her into. She hefted the large axe through the air and shifted her feet into a fighting stance. A single hand motioned for Impa to attack.

Alea hurried to turn the males around and push them down the hall the opposite way of the fight taking place. She said not a word as they dashed down the halls of the fortress; but the tightness of her lips and the frantic glances she kept throwing behind her betrayed her worry.

"She'll be fine Alea; Nabooru can take care of herself." Link tried to console her as they were hustled past a group of Gerudo on night watch.

Alea sighed and shook her head, her long deep golden blonde ponytail flew over her bare shoulders. "I know she can... But Impa doesn't fight fair..." Her words trailed off as she bit her lip and slowed her pace.

"All's fair in love and war!" a preppy, high pitched and slightly congested sounding voice rang out over the area, causing everyone to flinch. "Though when it comes to love it just should be left alone!"

A dark swirling of blue and a spurt of magic later; Ruto stood before the trio and the night watch in all her naked fishy glory. Her fins were tilted and the edges were sharp looking; rather like a blades' edge. "How dare you fall under a spell and cheat on your fiancé with another man! You're lucky I can forgive this!" she chastised Link; keeping her deep amethyst eyes on him alone.

"Ruto out of our way! We're trying to save the real love happening here; take your deluded fantasy elsewhere!" Alea barked out; drawing the famed duel scimitars the Gerudo were famous for wielding. "Leave us alone now or deal with me."

Ruto scoffed and flexed her fins. "The 'real' love is me and Link! Now you step aside and don't bother me!" Ruto just barely missed dodging Alea's attack as she lunged forward with her blades.

"My Din you are so annoying! Seriously; how deluded are you? Link and Dark love each other, there is no spell involved, just pure love between two guys!" Alea shouted, weaving around Ruto and dancing with her scimitars.

Ruto's eyes narrowed as she lashed out with her fins and ground them against the desert steel. "You're wrong; Zelda wouldn't lie!"She battled back, aiming a kick at Alea's side.

Alea back flipped over the leg and snorted. "Zelda lies like a Zora swims; all the time as a necessity. She claims it's for the greater good... but she's really just selfish!"

Ruto snarled and rushed forward again; Alea shoot the males a look and jerked her arm in a defensive motion that also served to tell them to run.

Dark grabbed Link's arm and began to pull him away, Link trusting his love to lead him safely through the darkness with his special eyes that saw in the dark. "Dark... I-"

"Don't... please; we have tempted fate too much already." Dark begged, probably knowing the fear Link felt as they raced through the darkened panicking fortress; knowing the fear of being torn apart with no chance at love again, fear that the life they had so close to having, was about to be ripped away.

Link swallowed and nodded, tears forming in his eyes. "..I love you Dark." he whispered, crashing into Dark as he stopped suddenly.

Dark turned around and forced his lips to Links in a quick and expressive kiss. "As I love you as well Hero... now let's get as far away from the 'Ice Queen' as possible,"

"'Ice queen'? That's a new one~"

A strained cheery voice broke through the slight quiet of the night around the embracing males.

"Saria!" both males cried in relief as they broke apart and looked down at the child sage. Her dark sky colored eyes were solemn and the smile on her face was forced; her posture was tense and her eyes kept darting around nervously. "…What are we going to do?"

Saria sighed and reached for their hands, taking them in her own tiny ones. "I am going to take you to the forest where you will use the warp to go to Goron City; Darunia will explain what will happen from there."

Link looked over at Dark before glancing down to Saria; could this work? Suddenly everything seemed so childish; Zelda was the Princess and Seventh (most powerful) Sage… how could they hope to be free from her? How could they even dream of leaving Hyrule with her watching them like the stalker she was? His ears drooped and his eyes grew dim; they couldn't win against her…

"Link snap out of it!" a shrill voice in his ear snapped.

Link started and glared when he saw Navi; where the hell had she been? "Where the hell have you been?"

"Me and Zenzi went to Saria and Darunia to tell them the plan that we made just in case Zelda moved against Nabooru!" Navi explained impatiently, tugging at his hair. "Now get your lazy ass moving and go with Saria!"

Link didn't have to be told twice; he grabbed Dark's hand and the pair hurried behind Saria, new found hope blossoming in Link. Surely since Saria and Darunia had had such time to think of a plan this would go much more smoothly than Link first thought?

The group (Navi and Zenzi were hiding in their charges hats) crept along a wall and Saria peeked out to scan the area; she didn't see anything and waved the boys forward, just in time to have a wall explode behind her.

Saria cried out as she was thrust forward with the momentum of the blast; Dark tugged Link behind him just in time to avoid the rocks and shockwaves, Impa flew through the whole in the wall with Nabooru swiftly lunging through it.

With a fierce battle cry desert met shadow as the two sages clashed; amber eyes flashed against crimson, two sets of snarls broke the silence. Dark and Link edged around them enough so that they could run over to Saria's side safely, dropping to their knees beside her.

"Saria are you alright?" Link asked, pulling her small body into his arms.

Her eyes weakly fluttered open and she gave a meek smile. "I'm okay, now come on we need to get you guys to Goron City…" she muttered, struggling to get out of his arms. Link set her down and she took a few wobbly steps before her confidence grew and her steps were sure. "Come on guys; we can't afford to stop for long."

The males picked up on the urgency and hurried their steps as the sounds of the sagely fight behind them picked up. They had only made it so far when Ruto jumped in their path and raised her fins to block an attack from Alea, both females had cuts over their body and were breathing heavy; apparently Ruto was more of a fighter than she let on.

Alea opened her mouth to say something; but ended up crying out in alarm and pain as Nabooru was thrown at her, both bodies tumbling to the ground in a heap of bronze skin and soft silk.

Dark and Link:

Link was about to call out to them; but a strong hand grasped his arm and with a might yank pulled him away from Dark and Saria. He screamed out his partners name as someone reached into the pouch he stored his items in and pulled out the Ocarina of time, as soon as that was done the hand on his arm turned into an arm around his neck.

He knew it was Impa; he knew that he was going to be taken from Dark… the shadow had turned as soon as he felt Link's hand leave his own, but Ruto had jumped at him and held him in a mock loving embrace, her fins crossing over his neck.

Two pairs of helpless eyes locked and shared tears as Impa called for Zelda. Both heard the trade mark giggle of the Princess; a dark and sinister sound to their pierced pointed ears.

"Impa very well done~ Let us go now, we have matters to discuss." She 'sweetly' praised her guardian as she gracefully walked over to beside Link, smiling triumphantly down at him. "I am the Princess of Destiny and the seventh sage; did you really think you could hide this demon forever?~" she asked, before her eyes turned to ice and she looked over to Ruto. Her words sent pure fear and hate rushing through the Hylian.

"Kill him Ruto; he is worthless."

Ruto's look of surprise and horror raised hope in Link; perhaps she was just doing this because she was born to follow orders? Maybe he could-

Notes. Music notes. From an Ocarina.

All hope fled Link as he thrashed against Impa's hold, only to struggle to breathe as her grip tightened. Dark did not struggle, did not thrash… he couldn't without slitting his own throat. He was helpless as he was forced to listen to the Prelude of Light; torn apart as Zelda put her hand on Link's shoulder like she owned him… bleeding when he cried out his partners name and the fins lightly scratched his throat.

Link tried to fight against the magic whisking him away; I don't want to go! He screamed at it…but nothing worked. He snaked out with a hand and swatted Zelda's away before trying to reach Dark through the light…but he was too far away, he couldn't. He yelled out his shadows name; tears blurred his vision as a white yellow light covered him and his captors, his heart broke as he felt himself spirit away from the fortress; from his chance at freedom…from his love.
