I don't own Doctor Who or anything else mentioned here.

Rose stumbled slightly on landing, and looked around the dusty room. She frowned at the two pilot seats and moved past them to the control panel. Looked like there needed to be two pilots, but maybe she could find a way to bypass that.

She used her sonic to activate the computer and pulled up the schematics of the piloting mechanism. Bloody hell. They needed two pilots of the same genetic make up. She frowned at that and moved to the center console, starting to pull out wires and see what she could make of things.

She looked up in alarm as she saw one side of the conversation with the earth defense station and chewed on her lip as she realized the missiles would be coming for them sooner rather than later. Shaking her head she started for the console when she had an idea.

As she reached past the wiring for the pilot seats, that she had been unable to countermand, she pulled out the ship's transponder and grinned. This could work if she could get it disconnected… They would need to get on the other ship though, get it wired in.

Now she just needed to contact the Doctor.

She turned to the computer screen, "Computer, show me the Doctor." She figured she could maybe use the short range teleport and transport them here if they were off of the dinosaur.

When she was suddenly scanned with a purple laser that came out of nowhere, she felt a moment of fear.

Amy continued to work at the computer as she tried to decide what they should do now, trying to ignore the other three as they rummaged around the room.

Riddell stood up and came towards her, a wide smile on his face as he lovingly held the gun he had found. "Now, these are what we need. Dinosaur protection."

"No weapons." Amy said shortly and started to turn away again when he tossed her one of the ammunition canisters. "Anesthetic? These are stun guns." She grinned, "You're almost clever."

With a wink Riddell hefted the gun, "Enough to make a dinosaur take a nap. Even the Doctor couldn't object to that."

Nefertiti was eyeing the security feed of the Doctor and Rory, wondering where the woman with them had gone. She turned to Amy, "You and Rory, are you his Queen?"

"Yes, I'm Rory's Queen. Wife. Wife. I am his wife." Amy winced at the way that sounded, "Please don't tell him I said I was his Queen. I'll never hear the end of it."

"And this Rose, is she the Doctor's queen or Jack's?" Nefertiti lifted an eyebrow as Jack laughed.

Jack grinned at her, "I haven't got a queen, and I have been told in no uncertain terms 'hands off the blonde'." He laughed again and let them make their own assumptions as he helped Riddell get the rifles loaded with ammunition.

Amy frowned at that, her mind on River again before she shook her head and looked at the Egyptian woman curiously, "I thought you had a husband?"

Scoffing, Nefertiti crossed her arms over her chest, "The male equivalent of a sleeping potion."

Riddell finished loading the rifle he was holding and smiled at Nefertiti, "You clearly need a man of action and excitement. One with a very large weapon."

"So, human sleeping potion or walking innuendo." Amy rolled her eyes, "Take your pick." She wasn't sure how to take the way Nefertiti looked between Jack and Riddell appraisingly.

The Doctor on the screen started speaking in a fast way that Amy knew meant he was more worried than he let on. She turned to look at him, concern making her chew on her lip pensively as she ignored the innuendo squad behind her.

The Doctor was looking at the computer in front of him, trying to figure out a way around this, some way to stop the missiles, "That's very bad indeed. Completely unhelpful."

Rory stepped up next to him and gestured at the computer nervously, "Doesn't the ship have any defense systems installed?"

"Ooh, good thinking, Rory." The Doctor grabbed Rory's face and kissed him before turning back to the computer, ignoring Rory wiping his mouth in disgust. "Computer, show us weapons and defense systems." He frowned as the computer showed that no systems were available. "Oh, well, that was a waste of time, wasn't it? Getting my hopes up like that." He slapped Rory lightly on the face.

Leaning back to avoid the Doctor's hands, Rory asked, "What ship doesn't have weapons?"

"Ah, they're an ancient species, Rory. Still full of hope." The Doctor spoke softly as he wracked his brain for something to do. He wished Rose was here. He felt sure that she would know what he was missing.

Brian raised his hand as though he was asking permission to speak, "What about the control deck? You said we should go to the control deck next."

The Doctor shook his head dismissively, "It's too late. It won't make any difference."

Rory waved a hand at the computer, "We could at least try."

Trying not to sound exasperated with the other men the Doctor spoke slowly, "It won't work, Rory. The missiles are locked on."

"So what, we're just giving up?" Rory looked at him in disbelief.

Shaking his head thoughtfully, the Doctor answered, "I don't know. I just don't know."

Jack watched as the Doctor worked to come up with some kind of plan and wondered where Rose had got off to. Amy had said that Rose was speaking in the background of her conversation with the Doctor earlier, that and the fact that the Doctor was still behaving in a somewhat normal manner seemed to indicate that she was fine, but it worried him that she wasn't there.

There was a flash as an old man and two hulking robots teleported to where the Doctor was and the man leaned forward on his crutches and spoke, "You were telling the truth, Doctor. Earth has launched missiles. This vessel is too clumsy to outrun them, but I have my own ship."

The Doctor stood up straighter and Jack frowned at the tone of the alien's voice. He was angry, and the Doctor angry was generally not a good thing. "You won't get your precious cargo on board, though. Just be you and your metal tantrum machines."

One of the robots protested that, "We do not have tantrums!"

The old man held up a hand to silence it, "Shut up." He turned back to the Doctor and seemed to be speaking confidentially as he leaned forward with a nasty smile, "You're right, Doctor. I can't keep the dinosaurs and live myself. But I had the ID system scan the entire ship, and it found something even more valuable. Utterly unique." The man's smile widened and his voice dropped an octave as he went on, "I don't know where you found it, or how you got it here, but I want it."

Sounding genuinely confused, the Doctor replied, "I don't know what you're talking about."

Scoffing, the old man answered him, "The golden goddess, an image and name stamped across the history of a thousand systems. The Bad Wolf." Jack straightened in alarm as the man went on, apparently having no clue what threatening Rose brought out in the Doctor. "Give her to me, and I'll let the rest of you live."

Amy spoke quietly beside Jack, "What is he talking about? I know those words."

Jack set his jaw as he answered in a low voice. "He's talking about Rose."

The Doctor leaned into the other man, his posture radiating threat to the people in the group who knew him and answered with one simple word, "No."

"You think I won't punish those who get in my way, whatever they're worth?" The old man gestured to the robots and one of them shot the triceratops. The Doctor exclaimed in alarm and moved to the beast, resting his hand on it's head as it died.

He stood then and clapped slowly, "You must be very proud."

The old man ignored the Doctor's statement. "Bring her to me, or the robots will make their way through your corpses. Bring her now."

The Doctor shook his head, "No."

There was a flash of light and suddenly Rose was standing next to the Doctor.

Jack hit the computer with his fist, "Damnit Rosie!" He looked at the computer and said, "How do I get down there? Computer, send me down there now!"

Rose stood next to the Doctor, eyeing the old man with disgust. She closed her eyes briefly as Jack and the others teleported in, Jack in the middle of cussing up a storm at her stupidity.

The Doctor looked at her, his face a mask of seriousness, "What are you doing?"

She reached for his hand, a little nervous at the way he kept his fingers from wrapping around hers, she bit her lip then stood up straighter, her own mask in place, "I'm going with him."

Shaking his head slowly, his voice low and almost husky, the Doctor said, "No, no, no, no, no way."

Rose lifted an eyebrow at his words, "This isn't your choice, Doctor, it's mine."

The Doctor turned his hand in hers; gripping her fingers tightly and lifting his other hand to her face, "Listen to me. You can't go with him. This isn't what happens… You have to…"

Lifting her free hand to put a finger across his mouth Rose smiled slightly, "Fingers on lips Doctor." Then she lifted both eyebrows as she answered the statement he had been about to make, "You can't tell me that. Spoilers, sweetie."

His face fell as he realized that she knew what was going to happen to her. She could almost see the wheels turning as he tried to work out how she could possibly know. Ignoring the other people in the room, she leaned into him and kissed him.

This wasn't the urgent, almost frightened kissing they had done the last time they had met; this wasn't the relieved happy kiss they had shared a few hours ago. This kiss was soft and almost hesitant, it meant goodbye. Rose pulled away slightly, then hugged him, whispering her plan in his ear.

When she stepped away from him, he let her. Their hands coming unclasped as she took a couple of steps towards Solomon and his robots.

Jack stepped forward, his gun raised, "I am not letting you do this." He looked at the old man, "Take her and I shoot you."

Rose shook her head, "Put the gun down Jack. Let me make my own choices."

Solomon smiled at her then looked at Jack, "Do it, boy, or I start killing the rest of your friends." Jack lowered the gun, the expression on his face murderous, The old man looked at Rose appraisingly, "My bounty increases. And what an extraordinary bounty you are." He lifted a hand as though to touch her cheek.

Slapping his hand away, Rose snarled, "Touch me and you'll find out first hand what it feels like to meet the Bad Wolf."

Chortling he lowered his hand. "I like my possessions to have spirit. It means I can have fun breaking them. And I will break you in with immense pleasure." He spared a glance at the rest of the group. "Thank you, Doctor. Computer, take us back to my ship."

The Doctor stared at the spot she had been standing in for a long moment before a fist came out of nowhere and knocked him off his feet.

He ignored the exclamations as the rest of the group responded to Jack punching him, and worked his jaw for a moment. That had hurt. He glared up at the American and took in the furious look on the man's face as Rory and Riddell held him back.

Ah. Right. He didn't understand the plan.

"When will it be enough Doctor? Huh?" Jack tried to shake off the men holding him as he jerked towards the Doctor again, "I mean, hell, send her away, leave her with a fucking copy of yourself, let her get kidnapped and tortured while you marry someone else, why the hell not let her sacrifice herself for you again?"

The Doctor stood carefully, trying not to show his reaction to Jack's words, and carefully not looking at the other people in the room. The computer was blaring the alarm that they had been targeted and he knew they had a limited amount of time to enact the plan that Rose had come up with.

He stood his ground and looked at Jack carefully, "Jack, she isn't sacrificing herself. It's part of the plan." He moved to the computer and activated the teleport to the command deck. He clapped his hands together lightly, trying not to keep repeating Jack's words over and over again in his mind. "Okay, control deck."

Rory looked after the American as he threw off their restraining hands and stepped away from the group, making a visible effort to calm himself. Rory met Amy's eyes as he tried to make sense of the man's words then shook his head; there would be time for that later. He turned to the Doctor, "So, what's the plan?"

The Doctor looked at him like he was especially thick, "Come on Rory. The missiles are locked onto us. We can't out-run them. We have to save the dinosaurs and get Rose back from Solomon. Isn't it obvious?"

Shaking his head, Rory glanced at the American's back again as Jack made an indignant noise at the Doctor's words. Rory cleared his throat. "It's sort of the opposite of obvious."

"Seventeen minutes before the missiles hit." The Doctor looked at the machinery in front of them speculatively, "We need to turn this ship around."

Rory watched as the Doctor started to examine the pilot chairs, "You said it was too late. That there wasn't any time."

"Ah, yes, but I didn't have this plan then, did I?" The Doctor smiled at him, but Rory was concerned at the fact that it didn't hold the excitement and confidence that the expression usually did. The Doctor looked over at Riddell. "Riddell? Keep an eye out for dinosaurs."

Riddell smiled and hefted his rifle, "I was rather hoping you'd say that."

The Doctor nodded absently then called out after him, "No killing any." He turned back to the chairs, "Rory, Brian, get rid of the cobwebs."
