This Fire
Cody was laying back on the couch, lightly dousing. Shea had left a few minutes before, getting an emergency call from the daycare. He chuckled lightly in his drowsy state, thinking of the poor kid that had gotten his head stuck in between the rails that lined the stairs. How kids did weird things like that, he'd never understand.
He sighed in warm contentment, pulling the same quilt he'd been using most of the time he'd been there, up over his chest, relishing the warmth that seemed to suddenly wash over him. Even though he hated the cold and the dreary, grey weather, he really was enjoying the way Roman's things seemed to just radiate warmth.
Another half hour past before keys rattled in the lock and Roman pushed the door open. He smiled when he heard the soft snoring as he stepped in and shut the door. He gently set his bag down and stripped off his coat before he walked into the living room, his eyes resting on the man sleeping there. His lips curled up into a smile, thinking about everything he'd talked to Seth and Ron about.
He knew he was only pushing Cody away from him and that was truly the last thing he wanted to do. He kneeled, resting a trembling hand on Cody's shoulder, giving a light shake. "Hey Cody," he eased, smiling a little brighter as blue eyes fluttered open to meet his. A smile touched those pink lips as their eyes met. "C'mon, get up. Get dressed. I wanna show you a couple things."
Cody looked puzzled as he sat up, still drowsy and half asleep. The blanket fell from around him to show he was already dressed in a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. He rubbed his eyes roughly, yawning. "I'm dressed," he mumbled, stretching upwards before he stood and walked over to his bag. Just as slowly, he pulled out a pair of socks and dug for a long sleeved shirt. "Where're we goin'?"
Roman smiled, looking the other man over as he dressed and walked over to pull his shoes on. "Well first, we're going to find you a real coat. Then I'm going to show you around Iowa City. And somewhere in there, I'm going to treat you to lunch," he explained, walking into his bedroom and grabbing a lighter jacket from the closet. He pulled it on and walked back out, grabbing his other one and holding it up. "Until then, you're wearing mine."
"You know I look like a little kid in your clothes," Cody playfully shot back, walking over and taking the offered coat. He couldn't help but smile when he felt the warmth of the other man still inside as he slipped it on.
"I know," Roman answered, taking Cody's hand. "I've always like that fact about you." He led Cody out, locking the apartment door and almost running down to the SUV, nearly dragging Cody along behind him.
"You're so excited!" Cody yelped, the cold air burning his lungs as he sucked in a breath. He shivered, hugging Roman's coat tighter around him, following closely behind. He smiled, wondering just what exactly it was that had gotten into the Samoan man as they practically jumped down the last three steps.
They rushed past Shea, whom looked bewildered at how they were running through the parking lot like two kids. He barely had the chance to wave at them before they were gone. He smiled, chuckling as he shook his head and walked up to his own apartment.
Cody jumped into the passenger seat, shivering and laughing as Roman did the same; starting the SUV up and blasting the still hot heat for them. "Are you crazy or something today?" he asked, laughing as he held his hands up to the vents, the tingle of the heat on his already cold skin making him smile.
"No, just really happy that you're here," Roman answered, reaching over and taking Cody's hand in his. "And I'm not wasting what little time I have with you." He felt the cool digits curl around his warm ones, his eyes meeting the stunned gaze. "So, coat first, because I can't wear this for too long."
Cody chuckled, nodded, finding it hard to say anything at all. His heart was pounding and at the same time it hurt. It was true that their time was limited. Maybe it would be nice to just enjoy each other for a little while and stop thinking about what they were going to do about their relationship. If there even was one after Saturday.
Roman nodded as he put the vehicle in gear and pulled out of his spot. He once again held tight to Cody's hand, refusing to let it go as he drove them away from the apartment complex and onto the main street. He was already humming along to the radio, feeling at ease as Cody joined in; softly singing.
Cody was off in his own thoughts, watching as the scenery passed, the trees were covered in ice with a sparkling white blanked of fresh snow and looked absolutely beautiful. He smiled, thinking that he'd only ever seen snow and ice look so beautiful in photos. He never thought he'd ever experience the sight first hand. He was jerked from his idle thoughts when the vehicle came to a stop and Roman was turning the ignition off.
"C'mon, let's make this quick, we'll miss some of the best parts if we aren't quick," Roman said, tossing his head towards the entrance to the store. He tugged Cody along behind him, easily finding a nice winter coat that fit Cody perfectly and getting him some matching gloves.
It was a very short shopping trip, one Cody felt like flashed by him as Roman paid for everything and was once again pulling him out into the cold. Once in the car he pulled the tags from the new outerwear. He removed Roman's coat, giving it back before he pulled on his own coat. "It's not a parka, but it'll do," he teased, zipping the front and pulling on his gloves. "So, I'm guessing we'll be outside most of the day?"
Roman nodded, laughing traded the jacket he had on for his coat and pulled his own black gloves from the pockets. "Yeah. But first we're going to get the best ice cream in town."
"But it's cold," Cody tried to argue, pausing at Roman's soft rumble of laughter. "What's so funny? Who would want ice cream when it's like five degrees out there?"
"Me," Roman fought back, arching an eyebrow at Cody. "C'mon live a little."
"If I freeze from the inside out, you're going to have to explain it to everyone back home. It's going to take me months to thaw out!" Cody shot back, laughing hard. His and Roman's laughter slowly died down. "Hey Roman."
"Hm?"
Cody was quiet, thinking over the words he wanted to say. He shook his head, turning his gaze back out towards the once again moving scenery. "Never mind. Let's go get that ice cream." He slid his hand over Roman's on the floor shifter, enjoying the heat that he still felt through their gloves.
A little while later Roman and Cody both were finishing their ice cream cones, walking around the park happily. Cody was soaking up the beautiful snow, thinking that maybe it wasn't so bad after all. He still didn't like it, but he could appreciate the beauty of it all.
"Wanna play chess?" Roman asked suddenly, nudging Cody with his shoulder, his hand reaching over to take Cody's in his.
Cody looked at Roman like he'd grown a second head after he realized what Roman had asked. "Here?" he asked, looking around for one of those small tables that were normally set up for the older people in Florida to play at the local parks. "I don't see a table, and we don't even have a board."
"Don't need it," Roman said, pulling Cody in closer to him, pointing at the large concrete slab just ahead of them, cleared from the snow to show the light and dark checkered concrete squares. He smiled, watching as Cody's blue eyes widened at the mammoth board.
Cody smirked, looking up at Roman. "And how the hell are we going to play with no pieces?" he asked, trying hard to hide his laughter. "Do they even make pieces that big?"
Roman nodded, leading Cody over to the box white, snow covered box just off to the side. "Ron let me borrow his keys for this," he murmured, pulling out his key ring and unlocking the giant box that held the giant three foot pieces. "Anymore questions?"
Cody just stood there dumbfounded, looking over the beautifully crafted wooden pieces. He shook his head, helping Roman set the board up. He was pleasantly surprised that the pieces were rather light considering their size. He stood on his side of the board, the white, while Roman finished setting his pawns up on the dark side. "I can't believe I'm playing a giant chess game in the middle of a near empty square in the middle of winter."
"You should see this place in the summer," Roman called, standing and watching as Cody started the match. "There's a couple of street pianos that anyone can play. And there's this giant fountain that everyone plays in. And the kids really love the carosel." He smiled, watching as Cody just shook his head. "You see, it's really nice up here. Even in winter."
"I see," Cody answered, watching as Roman moved his rook out. "Just so you know, I haven't played chess in a really long time." He laughed, working around his pawns, both him and Roman falling into a teasing match. The chess match itself wasn't terribly long. Cody fell to Roman. "I let you win!"
Roman laughed as they put the pieces back inside the white wooden box and he locked it. "You let me win huh?" he asked, wrapping an arm around Cody's shoulders, pulling him in. "Does that still mean I get a prize?"
Cody shrugged, standing a little taller. "And what kind of prize are we talking, because I'm not sure I feel up for giving you much of anything after you completely tore me to shreds," he said stiffly, fighting hard against the smile that just refused to be kept down.
"I want to show you one more place," Roman breathed, leaning into Cody. "That's what I want." His grey eyes met blue, their bright pink noses touching as Roman smiled down at Cody. "I promise, it'll be worth it."
Cody nodded, Roman's warm breath ghosting across his face, the white mist of their breaths mingling and rising between them. "Okay." He leaned in a little further, wanting nothing more than for Roman to lean in and press their lips together. He felt let down when Roman smiled and pulled back.
Roman felt his heart pounding as him and Cody made it back to the SUV and climbed in. He was silent, telling his mind to calm down and his hands to stop shaking as he drove them away from the center of town.
"Where're we going?" Cody asked, watching as the houses started to grow further apart and barren fields of snow started to take over the landscape. He turned to Roman, cocking his head to the side. "Ro?"
"Do you trust me?" Roman asked, reaching over and taking Cody's hand in his. "Really trust me?" He gave it a gentle squeeze.
Cody was silent, the air between them becoming thick with tension. "Yeah," he murmured, heart starting to pound in his chest at the look of completely concentration on Roman's face.
Roman gave a soft smile, turning his attention back to the road. He took a hard right onto a snow-covered road, taking his hand from Cody's and putting them both on the wheel. He followed the road slowly, carefully. He stopped and parked the SUV when the hit a row of thickly lined trees. "C'mon."
Cody just watched as Roman got out of the car and started towards the trees. He slowly, cautiously got out and followed, the snow nearly up to his knees, making it beyond hard to walk. He took Roman's hand as they both struggled to make it into the trees. "Where the hell are we?" he asked, the loud howl of the strong wind wrapping around them.
"Somewhere special," Roman answered, pushing through the low branches and stopping as the trees thinned and two thin rails were barely ten feet ahead of them. He smiled, clutching Cody's hand, almost like he was afraid that if he let go that Cody would just disappear. "It's not as good as home, and it's not very secret, but in the summer, this place is beautiful, the trees cover the rails just right."
Cody smiled, heart pounding as he listened to the wind, a faint whistle sounding. "This is beautiful Ro," he murmured, taking in the frozen limbs and how they seemed to sway in the frozen breeze but kept their coverings of snow. He moved a little closer to Roman, resting his head against Roman's shoulder. "It's not our spot, but this is nice."
Roman nodded, pulling his hand free from Cody's and wrapping his arm around the other male's shoulders. "You're the only one I've brought here. Trains are our thing," he went on, a sudden blasting howl of the whistle filling the air. He tugged Cody back, making sure there was ample room between them and the rails.
Cody turned, watching as the Amtrak zoomed up to them and passed. "Ro," he said gently, turning to face the other man. In that instant, everything seemed to stand still, even the racing train. His blue eyes looked over the handsome face he didn't want to leave.
"Ah, it's getting dark, we should probably head back," Roman starting to pull away from Cody. He walked back to his SUV, listening as Cody walked slowly behind him. He bit his lower lip as he swallowed hard, telling himself that he was doing this right, that keeping a little space between them would be the best for them.
The trip back to Roman's apartment was quiet, both left to their own thoughts as they parked. Cody kept his hands tucked in his pockets while they climbed the stairs and Roman opened the door.
"You should get a shower to warm up, you're still shaking, and the legs of your jeans are soaked," Roman suggested, stripping his coat and kicking his own soaked shoes off. He couldn't help but frown when Cody just silently nodded, pulling his shoes off and walking into the bedroom. He let out a sigh, thinking over his and Ron's conversation part of it really sticking out in his mind.
Roman finished his story, sighing at the end. "And now he's in my apartment."
Ron let out a low whistle, shaking his head. "You're in a real mess boy," he chuckled, rolling his chair over so he was right in front of Roman. "Listen, Roman. There's some things in this world that you have to figure out on your own. The real question is how you feel and if you can really handle watching him walk away permanently. Because that's what it sounds likes gonna happen if you don't figure this thing out," he started, reaching over and resting both hands on Roman's shoulders. "Love is messy. Sometimes the hardest choice has the simplest answer. Think about that."
Roman sighed, the sudden sound of his shower bringing him back to reality. The simplest answer, he had to figure out what that was still.
Cody felt his entire body loosen up under the hot spray, his breathing calm and slow. He really did enjoy warming up in the shower. He heard the curtain rustle and the sudden gust of cold air. His eyes snapped open, turning right into cold arms. "Roman?" he asked, listening as the other man hissed from the hot water.
"I couldn't wait for you. I was cold," he answered, wincing at the burn of the hot water on his near frozen skin. "It's really hot." He chuckled, Cody leaned into the loose embrace. Suddenly, he didn't feel so cold anymore.
"Yeah, I was cold too," Cody murmured, pressing the front of their bodies together. "Thank you for showing me all that today. Maybe this summer, I can come up here and you can show me everything and I won't end up half frozen."
Roman chuckled, nodding. "Yeah, I'd like that," he breathed, brushing the palm of his hand along Cody's cheek. He smiled as he leaned in, his brows furrowing slightly, heart pounding hard in his chest. "I love you Cody."
Cody let out a hum of happiness. "I love you too Ro," he whispered, wrapping his arms around Roman's neck, pulling them even closer. "Are you just gonna stand there?"
Roman shook his head, pressing a kiss to Cody's forehead, then the tip of his nose. "I'm trying really hard here to be good," he answered, his hands sliding down to Cody's hips, pulling them into his. "And not slam you up against the shower wall."
"Do it," Cody hissed, pushing for their lips to meet in a searing. He gasped, Roman's hands sliding around to grab two handfuls of his ass. He ground their hips together, gasping out as Roman's tongue slipped into his mouth, running along his. He groaned, his fingers sliding up into Roman's hair, running through the long, loose locks. He tugged at them.
Roman groaned, tasting Cody over again. His body was reacting faster than he could think and without a second thought he had lifted Cody up and had him pinned between him and the slick shower wall, their hips grinding even harder together. "Fuck," he bit out, his lips falling down Cody's neck, nipping and suckling the sensitive skin. He was hot, his cock already throbbing against Cody's equally hard one.
Cody groaned, at first out of pleasure then out of annoyance as he heard Roman's phone ringing. "Your phone," he grumbled, feeling the tub once again under his feet as Roman let him down and pulled back.
"Fucking phone," Roman grumbled, grabbing for the towels he'd brought in and wrapped one around his waist, grabbing his discarded jeans for his phone. "Hello?" he asked grumpily, pushing his wet hair back away from his face, securing his towel.
"Well, I won't return your fucking phone calls," Dean retorted on the line, his tone mock hurtful. "Or are you mad because I might have interrupted something a little more fun?"
"Fuck you Dean," Roman answered, walking into his bedroom, barely toweling off before he pulled on a pair of sweat pants, struggling to get them up his damp legs.
"Now you know I'd have you screaming into the pillows big guy. Besides, the only person that's ever going to top me is Seth," Dean went on, laughing.
"Oh gross man, I did not need to know that about you guys," Roman laughed, turning to find that Cody had followed him out, his face flush from more than the shower as he stood there with another towel around his waist. "Stay here, I'll get your bag."
Cody waited patiently, digging in his bag as soon as Roman brought it to him. He pulled out a pair of shorts and a t-shirt, dressing quickly before he followed Roman back into the living room, plopping on the couch and giving Roman a less than enthused look. "Thanks for being a cock block Dean!" he called, watching as Roman paused and looked at him with a hopeful smile.
"I hear Cody's having a good time with my interruption," Dean teased, settling into an idle conversation about how things were.
Roman smiled, sitting on the floor just in front of Cody, resting his head back on Cody's leg. He really enjoyed hearing Dean's voice on the line. He quietly groaned, Cody's fingers running through his hair, slowly untangling it and working it into sections before he slowly started to braid.
"Hey, I don't want to hear Cody's slurping on the line!" Dean snapped suddenly, laughing loudly. "Anyway, you guys done with this honeymoon stage? I'm ready for you to be home, Seth's trying to kill me with all this extra attention."
Roman smiled, rolling his eyes. "I don't know about this being a honeymoon," he answered, his tone suddenly sounding a little uneasy. For a moment, he was sure that he heard Seth's voice yelling in the background. "Dean?"
"Oh, gotta go. The wife's home and he's pissed." With that Dean hung up.
Roman laughed, tossing his phone behind him, next to Cody, running his hand down the long French brad that Cody had put in. "You know, you should've been a hairdresser or something," he breathed, leaning his head back on Cody's lap again, the other man giving him a slightly frustrated look. "Here." He held up his wrist, allowing Cody to take the black hair band.
"It's because of my sisters and being the youngest. And all my nieces, and baby Jey likes when the girls all coo at him over his hair when I braid it back," Cody said, tying off the end of the braid and resting his hands on Roman's shoulders. "Done."
"Thank you," Roman eased out, reclining once again so his head was in Cody's map, his grey eyes met blues. "You just gonna sit there or are you going to kiss me again?" He swallowed hard, Cody's lips slowly descending onto his. It was feather light, but he could feel the electricity pass between them, shooting through him and right down to his still half hard cock.
Cody's heart was pounding hard against his chest as his lips parted and his tongue eased into Roman's mouth, a low groan escaping. "Ro," he whimpered, pulling back and looking into the half lidded grey eyes. "Get up here."
Roman nodded, scrambling to make it up on the couch, his lips instantly back on Cody's. His hands cupped Cody's face, holding him in place as he titled to one side and kissed Cody thoroughly. This was the answer; it really was that simple.
Both Cody and Roman groaned when a short, sharp knock of knuckles on Roman's door filled the room. Roman pulled back, resting his forehead against Cody's. "I'm sorry," he murmured, getting up and walking over to the door. He adjusted himself, trying to hide his half hard cock from being completely noticeable. He opened the door, ready to tell Shea that it wasn't a good time, but instead his heart nearly stopped in his chest, the color draining from his face. "Max." It was almost a gasp.
Maxine smiled, nodding. "Sorry I didn't call. I just wanted to drop in and surprise you," she said, walking in after Roman had motioned for her to come in. "Is Cody still here?" Her tone was low, seductive. She saw the wave of a hand from above the back of the couch. Her playful smile dropped, as did her tone. "I see he is."
Roman tried to smile, shutting the door and following Maxine after she'd draped her coat across the back of a table chair. "We're just sitting here talking," he said, giving Cody an apologetic look as they walked in, Maxine standing as he sat down in the chair.
"Actually, Roman, I wanted to talk to you. Alone, if possible," Maxine started, her voice tired, her arms folding over her chest.
"Don't mind me, I'll just go crash at Shea's for a while," Cody said coldly. He rolled his eyes as he jumped up from his reclined position on the couch. He grabbed his coat, looking down at his shoes. He made a disgusted face at how wet they were. It wasn't even the shoes that upset him, it was the fact that once again he was being pushed out for her.
Roman stood, walking into the bedroom and grabbing a spare pair of shoes and handing them to Cody. "They'll be big," he said, smiling at Cody, wanting nothing more than to lean in and kiss those plush lips. "I'll come over when we're done, okay?"
Cody nodded, unable to stop the small smile from showing on his lips. He murmured his thanks before he slipped them on his bare feet and walked out. He just hoped that Shea was home so he wasn't stuck out in the cold for however long Maxine wanted to talk.
Roman turned back to Maxine, her arms dropping to her sides. "What's on your mind babe?" he asked, walking back over to her and rubbing her upper arms lightly. "Max?"
"Roman," she started, taking a breath. She pursed her lips together, pulling from Roman's touch as she thought. "What's going on? You haven't called, you haven't text me since he's been here. I know there's a lot between you two but I need to know where we stand." Her pleading brown eyes met surprised grey ones. "Is there something going on between you?"
Roman felt his heart pounding in his chest, knowing that Maxine could tell that there was something that hadn't died between them. "No, nothing's going on," he answered, swallowing hard. This was not how he wanted to talk about this.
Maxine didn't look convinced. She took a breath, slow and steady. "Tomorrow we'll be together six months," she said, trying hard to put a smile on and believe her boyfriend. "I was hoping we could do something special, maybe go out to dinner or something."
Roman smiled, nodding. "I'd like that," he answered, reaching out and resting his hands on her shoulder's again, gently pulling her into him. He felt her tense as he wrapped her in his arms, embracing her gently. Inwardly, he sighed, feeling bad for holding her so closely when his heart wasn't fully into it. He pressed a kiss to the top of her head, her arms wrapping around his waist finally.
"I love you Roman," Maxine whispered, looking up into the wide grey eyes. She knew he could see the conflicted pain in her eyes, the way her brows were furrowed. She wanted to question Roman more, ask him what was going on with him and Cody, but she couldn't. She didn't want him to think she didn't trust him.
"Babe, what's wrong?" Roman asked, brushing back a lock of dark hair from her face. "Talk to me." He led her to the couch, sitting her down and sitting right next to her. "Maxine?"
"Have you and him done anything? Has he tried anything?" she asked, his voice barely above a whisper. She knew everything she was asking could be seen as mistrust, but she had to know.
Roman felt his heart pounding. He hated lying. "No," he told her, taking her hands in his and holding them. "You don't trust me?" It wasn't an accusation; it was just a mere question, one that really hurt him.
"I trust you completely," Maxine answered, her brown eyes meeting Roman's. "I don't trust him though." She looked up, her face completely serious. "How could I? I know he still loves you and I know he still wants you."
Roman sighed, hating how his insides suddenly twisted around themselves, making him feel sick. His mind was racing, knowing that he was only prolonging the inevitable, but he still needed a little time to think over his own thoughts. "Then smile for me."
Maxine couldn't help but let out a small smile, looking down at their joined hands. "I should get home, feed my fish and get some rest for work. What time did you want to go?"
"Six sounds good to me," Roman answered, pulling one hand back and cupping her cheek. He forced himself to smile, leaning in and pressing a kiss to her lips. It felt wrong now and he hated himself for it. He could barely think as she stood and gathered her things.
"I love you," she said once they were at the door, moving up to kiss his lips lightly. "Tomorrow at six. I'll be waiting."
Roman nodded. He swallowed hard, kissing her once more. "I love you too." He watched her walk away before he walked over and knocked on Shea's door. He was greeted by the Irishman's smile. "Cody here?"
Shea nodded, opening the door a little wider for Roman to enter. "Sure is fella. He's kicking me arse at this game," he laughed, shutting the door behind Roman. "Care to take a shot?"
Roman pulled the sheets back, watching as Cody did the same on the other side of the bed. "Are you mad?" he asked, slipping in and covering himself up to his bare chest. He wanted to know. He moved a little closer to Cody's quiet form, wrapping his arms around the other man's bare torso, tangling their legs together. "Cody?"
"I'm not mad," Cody answered tiredly, relaxing into the sheets. "But I'm not really happy." He pulled from Roman's tangled mess of limbs so he could turn over to face the other man. "It's stupid and I'm tired."
Roman sighed, reaching over and running a finger over the curve of Cody's jaw. "I'm taking her to dinner tomorrow night, that's what we were talking about," he started, pressing his finger to Cody's lips when he went to speak. "I'm going to talk to her about this. About us and how I need some space to figure out what I really want. Not just now, but after my contract is over."
Cody nodded, trying not to let hope fill his chest. He felt Roman's finger move from his lips, the Samoan man leaning in and replacing it with his own pair of lips. His eyes shut, lightning shooting through him. "Roman," he whimpered, hands moving up to grab at the other man's shoulders. He could deny how much he still wanted Roman.
Roman chuckled, pulling Cody closer to him, refusing to let his conscious try and make him feel guilty. This was right. This felt right. His lips parted, tongue sliding along the smooth seam of Cody's lips, asking permission to enter.
Cody's lips readily accepted, his own tongue darting out to run along Roman's. This was what he wanted, needed. He felt his entire body heat up, Roman's hands gripping his hips tightly before they were smashed together, grinding almost impatiently against each other.
"Cody," Roman whimpered, breaking their kiss, his breathing already rugged and short. His half lidded grey eyes bore into Cody's blue ones. "Can I have you?" He wasn't going to beat around the bush or put any frills on it. He wanted, needed, Cody. "Please."
Cody pulled back, his body flush, cock already throbbing with arousal. He tried not to think about the last time they'd been in this position. "You don't have anything, like lube, remember?" he asked, taking a deep breath, trying hard to calm his body just a little.
Roman couldn't meet Cody's blue orbs, his cheeks flushing a darker red. "I… um… I bought some stuff while I was out this morning," he muttered, feeling more embarrassed than he knew he should.
Cody's brows rose in surprise, but he smiled gently. "So you planned on getting me in your bed this entire time," he teased, watching as Roman's shocked face looked up into his smiling one.
"No!" Roman protested, groaning as he covered his face with a hand. "I mean, I guess I hoped it would happen." He let out a frustrated groan, unhappy with his mouth and where it was leading him. "But I didn't expect it to."
Cody couldn't help but chuckle, tipping Roman's chin up so their eyes could meet. "I'm teasing you," he breathed, moving in to kiss the soft lips once more. As much as he wanted Roman, he knew his answer was only going to disappoint them both. He sighed lightly, pausing as he took a breath. "And as hard as it is to say: no. We can't."
Roman nodded, putting a little more distance between them. It did hurt, his body craving the other man's touch. But he knew he couldn't ask Cody to change his mind. He sucked in a breath, hoping to calm his own body. "I understand. I'm sorry."
Cody pulled Roman back in towards him. "I want to Ro, fuck I want to, but not while you're with her. She doesn't deserve that and neither do I," he explained, one hand moving to rest in the middle of Roman's chest. His forehead pressing against the warm skin of Roman's shoulder. "I'm sorry."
Roman shook his head, sighing. "Don't apologize," he returned, moving in to hold Cody against him, kissing his lips once more. He groaned as Cody's body fit perfectly against his, making it even harder to ignore his erection or Cody's, which at that moment was digging into his thigh.
Cody whimpered, his body slightly moving, causing his arousal to push against Roman. He felt Roman's hand slide down to between them, long fingers wrapping around his arousal over the lounge pants he'd worn to bed. "Roman," he gasped, biting his lower lip as his hands clutched Roman's shoulders. "We can't."
Roman lowly hushed Cody, moving his hand along the hard rod. "I promise, this is all I'll do," he breathed, moving his hand to press against Cody's belly, the warm fingers sliding under the waistband and wrapping around his cock.
Cody let out a kiss, closing his eyes as he pressed kiss after kiss to Roman's chest, his own hand sliding down to Roman's shorts. His fingers curled around the same hardness. Never did he think, he'd feel the velvety skin in his hand again. "Ro," he whimpered, his head tilting back. His sparkling blue orbs met Roman's grey ones, both men's breathing starting to quicken. It had been too long since they'd been together.
Their hips pushed into each other's hands as their lips met in a gentle kiss, the heat and passion filling them. Their mouths opened and tongues touched, both falling victim to the pleasure the other was giving them.
Cody felt the tension in his belly building, twisting up inside him until he couldn't hold it anymore. He pulled back from Roman's lips, biting his own. "Roman, I'm about—"
"Me too," Roman gasped, kissing Cody again, this time with more force, more need. He felt Cody's body stiffen against him, the warmth of the other man's release spilling over his hand. He sighed, his own body too far gone. He let out a low grunt, Cody's name riding it as he came, Cody's hand twisting perfectly around the head. He was breathing hard, his vision going blurry for a moment as he came down. He smiled softly, looking down into drowsy, but satisfied blue eyes as he pulled his hand back.
"We need to clean up," Cody murmured, releasing Roman's softening cock and pulling back. He was the first to get up and go into the bathroom, stripping what was left of his clothes and wiping himself off with a damp cloth. He didn't hear Roman come in and jumped when he felt warm arms wrap around him. He leaned back into Roman's embrace, closing his eyes and relishing in how good it felt to be there. He only had a couple days left of it.
Roman was quiet, holding Cody for as long as he dared before he too cleaned up. "Come back to bed," he murmured, taking Cody's hand in his and leading him into the bedroom. Together they climbed into the bed, Cody once again held tightly to Roman's chest as they drifted off into a peaceful slumber. In that moment, everything was okay and neither one was worried about Roman's date the next night.
