I was going out to dinner with one of my dad's friend. She was four years older than me and lived in the area. she was nice, and a very skilled hunter, but she had told me being a hunter was enough for her. We were just catching up.

I pulled on my wine red, cowl neck, mini dress, straightened my hair, swiped on my lipstick, and put on my pearl necklace. I grabbed my white clutch, slipped my white heels back on and left the room. I had some extra time, and the restaurant was only two blocks away.

When I got the the restaurant she was already there. I walked over to her table and she stood.

"Audrey, it has been too long!" She said, hugging me. I gave her a once over, she was gorgeous than ever.

"Tracy you are a vision in white!" I said, commenting on her white dress. She laughed and we sat down. After ordering we started talking.

"So whats up with this hunter school you've got going on?" She asked. I shrugged.

"Its not really a hunter school. Its like a hunter helper academy." I told her. She rolled her eyes good naturedly.

"My apologies, its an 'academy'. You still sound like such a prep." She said. I laughed.

"I'm better now. I just had to go talk to parents about taking their children to a school for the dark arts, sorry if i sound a little pompous." I said. She rolled her eyes again. We gossiped about our lives through dinner, she even mentioned that she was married.

"Yeah, his name is David Foster. It's funny, when I mentioned the Men of Letters, he said his dad and grandad used to tell him, his little brothers, and little sister storys about a band of cunning heroes that went by that name." She said. Foster, Foster, Foster. Foster was a family on my descendant list!

"Are his siblings Caleb, Trent, and Liz? I have those three Foster's on my recruitment roster." I said. Her mouth hung open.

"Shut up! Those are his eighteen year old triplet younger siblings! They live with us!" She squealed. "Lets go see them right now. They can drive down with you tomorrow!" She grabbed my wrist and pulled me out of the restaurant. We got in her truck and drove to her house two miles outside of town. It was a three story log cabin. I assumed it was her husband's house. We went inside and were greeted with the smell of chile.

"I'm back with my friend, we decided to come here instead of go out!" She called. I heard footsteps coming down unseen stair and I saw head poke out of three different doorways. "Everyone introduce yourselves" She said once everyone had gathered. There were three women and three men in front of me. They were lined up in perfect height order.

"I'm David."

"Trent."

"Caleb."

"Barb."

"Nichole."

"Liz." They all said in order. Barb quickly rushed off, presumably to check on the chile, Nichole wandered off and David, Trent, Caleb, and Liz stayed in the entry hall. David put his arm around Tracy and the triplets just stood there.

"Oh I'm Audrey. Do you guys want to go learn to be Men of Letters?" I asked them. They exchanged a look and Caleb and Liz snickered

"Men of Letters are heros from a bedtime story. They're a myth." Caleb said. Lizzie nodded. Trent stayed quiet.

"Trent, you want to believe me, right?" I asked. He didn't respond. I sighed. I just wanted a nice dinner with my friend. Now i have to recruit. Again. Chewed the magic gum, blew a bubble and showed them paris.

"Oh, wow, nice parlor trick." Caleb said. I rolled my eyes and waved my hand over the globe. Now it showed a current, moving image of us, standing in the Foster's front hall.

"Its not a parlor trick. Its fucking magic. I've done a lot of it today and it exhausts me. If it isn't good enough for you, whatever. If you want to learn it, be ready to go at eight tomorrow morning. Tracy, take me back to the hotel." I snapped. I turned on my heel and stalked out of the house.
