I kept getting stuck while writing this chapter because I wanted to get to that last scene, but I really liked how this one came out...and for those of you Wavid fans, all I can say is development. Anyway, hope you guys all like it. Enjoy.

Disclaimer: I do not own glee, if I did...I really don't think you want to know what my mind might make the characters do...

Summary: Klaine. Kurt is stepping into a whole new world whether he is ready for it or not. After all, behind the face of structure, tradition, and well mannered boys there is chaos just waiting to be unearthed.

Chapter Twenty Nine

Garret was the one that realized something was wrong. The awkwardness that settled upon them after Blaine and Kurt left was too much that after a while, he decided to follow. He'd stopped to drop his water in a recycling bin and it was just as he started walking in the direction of the parking lot, hoping to find Blaine and give him a piece of his mind on how bad a friend he was turning out to be, that he heard something like a yelp and someone yelling, someone that sounded like Kurt.

He sprinted in the direction of the yells and found Kurt holding onto a large jock, the one that had bullied him. Kurt's arms were around his neck, pulling him back from Blaine who seemed to have curled up into himself. Garret rushed first to Kurt's aid and together they got Karofsky on the ground, Garret holding him down because Blaine still hadn't moved.

"Is he hurt?" he asked Kurt, worry laced in his voice.

Kurt shook his head. "He shouldn't be...he pushed him against the bleachers and then he got like that...look, there's nothing we can do about Karofsky. I'm more worried about Blaine than anything...in fact, I don't think he'll do this again, because I'll tell everyone his secret."

Garret felt Karofsky tense up underneath him.

"I'll tell everyone," Kurt repeated, addressing Karofsky. "You don't get to be the coward, hurting those who aren't afraid of what they are...I don't want to be the one to tell everyone, it should be your choice, but if you come near me again..."

Garret eyed the bully and then looked towards Kurt, but Kurt was focusing all of his attention on Blaine and trying to coax him to get up. Garret had never seen Blaine this bad, never in the time he'd known him, but there had been one minor freak out once before they were together.

"Sing to him," he told Kurt.

Kurt nodded slowly, but didn't sing, instead he fixed his gaze on Karofsky, seeming to communicate his message to him again. "Let him go, he won't bother us now," he told Garret, who reluctantly let the other boy go.

Karofsky eyed them for a moment and then he walked quickly towards the cars.

"What do you have on him?" Gar asked before he could stop himself.

Kurt, disregarding his clothes for one, had settled himself down next to Blaine and was working on bringing Blaine to lean against him.

"He's gay, in denial and very confused...I don't know if he'll ever come out of his oversized closet. I couldn't tell everyone, it wasn't right."

"Even when he was bullying you?"

Kurt had begun to hum and Blaine slowly moved towards him. He nodded at Garret. "It wasn't my place."

Blaine was sobbing, his body shaking with his tears. Garret looked on at the two of them. For months he'd been trying to come to this moment on his own. Accepting that Blaine and Kurt belonged together. Seeing the devotion in Kurt's eyes, the love and even the fear and worry made him realize just how much this boy cared for his former boyfriend. He'd seen the same emotions on Blaine a thousand times. Some of those times directed at himself, but as of late, that love filled gaze had rested and basked on Kurt.

"You're right for him, you know," Garret told Kurt, getting up and brushing dirt from his clothes. "I loved him, hell, I still love him but I'm not ashamed to admit that I was selfish in our relationship. He didn't need a boyfriend, and he was just so wonderful...I didn't want to just be the friend, and when he wasn't that meek boy I first met I was jealous of what he was becoming. He wasn't just mine anymore..." He trailed off and met Kurt's eyes, "you see him like I never did and he sees you. I know you don't need my blessing, or anything, and I have no right...but I just want you to know he is fragile even if he doesn't seem like it. Take care of him...you do it so much better than I ever did, already."

Garret made to walk away, just leave Kurt to comforting Blaine, but Kurt made a noise that made him stop.

"He doesn't look it, but he's heavy," Kurt said, "can you help me get him back to my car?"

"Oh, yeah. Sure."

As they got Blaine between them, Blaine leaning closer to Kurt as if he couldn't physically be away from him, Kurt spoke again. "He told me everything," Kurt said, "And I have to say I was so jealous...but he needed you, then. You made him better, for that I have to thank you. He wouldn't be who he is today. I do love him, with all of my being. I'm sorry it has to hurt you...there's still the slight hope of something happening with Jesse...Rachel looked ready to dump him."

Gar laughed and grinned at Kurt. "I can see why he likes you."

When they got to Kurt's car, Garret helped Kurt get Blaine into the back seat. Kurt left him leaning against the door for a moment while he went to his trunk from where he grabbed a blanket for the cold.

"I'll go find the others, they'll want to know...what are you going to do with him?"

Kurt glanced back at Blaine and bit down on his lip. "They won't be mad if I just take him home with me and get some tea into him. I think he's in some sort of shock...he might not want anyone else around."

"No. Go ahead. I'll tell the others. What about your parents?"

"Tell them Blaine wasn't feeling well so I took him back to our house and that I'll explain when they get back...thank you. I'll see you on Monday?"

Garret nodded and then began to walk back towards the field. Kurt got into the back of his car with Blaine and brought him into a hug. He wrapped the blanket around him and just as Garret had suggested earlier began to sing the first song that popped into his head, the song that had first opened Kurt's eyes to Blaine. Blaine slumped into Kurt, shivering despite the jacket and blanket.

They sat like that for a while, Kurt messing up the lyrics to 'Teenage Dream' because he couldn't concentrate on singing when he was so worried.

"Kiss me," Blaine said, suddenly, out of the blue.

Kurt stared at him and shook his head. "Blaine, you're still in shock from that thing with Karofsky...come on do you want to sit in the front? We can go back to my house...you seem a little better."

Blaine let Kurt help him into the passenger seat and then Kurt turned on the car and couldn't help glancing at a thoughtful Blaine from time to time, as he drove the three blocks to his house.

Blaine hid his face in his pillow. His body ached, still, even though it had been days since the incident at school. Everett who had just entered his room almost tripped over something that had been left on the floor. He walked towards Blaine's bed and Blaine knew he couldn't keep pretending to be asleep every time his brother came into his room.

"Hey," Everett said.

"I'm sorry," Blaine said at once. "I'm so sorry, Ev."

Everett sat down on the bed next to Blaine and Blaine scooted out of his way to give him more room.

"You have nothing to be sorry for, bro, you it worse. Being locked in the janitor's closet with the garbage from the lunch room was nothing to what you had to go through. You're the one that this was aimed for."

Blaine nodded, "exactly," he said. "It was aimed at me, to hurt me. Steven knows how much I look up to you..."

Everett sighed and wrapped an arm around Blaine. "The important thing is you're okay. A broken rib and a few bruises is a lot...but it could have been much worse. And you won't see those boys again, Dad is making sure you don't."

Blaine frowned at Everett. "What is he doing?"

"Nothing for your to worry about. Just, he's a lawyer, Blaine, what do you think he's doing?"

"Oh."

Lorie came in, then, holding a tray with Blaine's lunch. When she'd asked him earlier if he wanted anything specific, Blaine had pleaded to be able to go down to the kitchen, but she hadn't relented.

"Thanks," Blaine muttered and sat up a little more so he could balance the tray on his lap, "I'm fine to go downstairs, though..."

She shook her head and brushed his hair away from his forehead. "You're not fine, Blaine, I want you in bed for a while longer. Maybe tomorrow. Honey, we're just worried, you never insinuated it could be that bad and we don't want you going to that school again..."

Blaine gaped at her. "So, where am I going to go?"

"For the time being your dad just wants to deal with a few legal things...and then we'll start looking around for somewhere this won't happen again. So, you'll be out of school for a little while."

One thing that Blaine had always hated doing was miss school. He knew it was necessary, in fact he didn't think he could step into that school again without having some sort of full blown panic attack. Adrenaline had gotten him through the hour that followed being beaten by Steven and his friends. It wasn't until he was in the hospital and getting examined that he'd realized what had happened and his body had acknowledged the strain that it had been put on. After that first night he'd had nightmares. Every time the same. Sally chose to go another way, no one saw them...Nancy didn't come look for him until it was too late.

For the past three days he'd only gotten sleep because of the pain medication for his ribs, two of them had been broken although there had been no damage to his lung. Still, even with the medication, sleep was hard to come by and it didn't come without the dreams or the three or four times a night that Blaine woke up.

David held Wes back from running off and trying to find Karofsky.

"He's probably gone by now, Wesley," he said and heard Wes sigh and sink into him.

"I know," Wes said eventually and then pulled away, leaving David feeling cold. "I just...I want to do something, you know. Poor Kurt..."

Thad who had for once put away his book, looked as upset as they both felt, but being the voice of reason, he didn't voice the impulsive thoughts running through his head, perfect plans that could execute every possible way to get back at Karofsky.

Instead, what Thad said was, "Kurt and Blaine have each other. And Garret did say Kurt let Karofsky go. He's blackmailing him or something...anyway, it's over, guys. We should just let Kurt and Blaine help each other and go enjoy a nice, well, loud, dinner at Breadstix and check on them later."

Mercedes who had been present when Gar told them what happened, made sure that none of them mentioned it to Kurt's dad.

"Just keep with what he said, boys, Kurt will tell him later, no use worrying him," she'd said, so when Mr. Hummel approached them they agreed to tag along and told him Kurt and Blaine had gone back home because Blaine wasn't feeling too good."

"Wish he'd told me," Mr. Hummel said and then sighed.

"You guys are coming to Breadstix though, right?" Finn asked, throwing his arms around Wes and David, "cause you guys are awesome."

Wes grinned and leaned into Finn. "Yes!" he said excitedly and then tilted his head towards David, "food, David, we get to eat food now."

David's lips quirked into a smile even though he was frowning in Wes' direction. He pulled away from Finn and went to stand next to Thad. "So, we heading over there, now, then?"

Finn nodded and dropped his arm from around Wes' shoulders, heading in the direction of his mom. "You guys know where it is?" he called back.

David nodded. "I'm driving, we'll be fine."

"Cool, well, see you guys, then." he rushed towards his mom who was driving him and a few of the other guys from the football team.

David motioned for Wes, Gar, and Thad to follow him to his car and fell back to walk with Wes.

"Do you think Blaine is really okay?" Wes asked.

"Kurt can take care of him, Wes. He'll be alright...I think maybe he just needs Kurt, right now. It must have been hard on both of them, but it's what they're going to have to face. It shouldn't be, in an ideal world it shouldn't matter, but it does and they'll be dealing with it for a while to come."

Wes moved the slightest bit closer to David, letting their arms brush. David smiled at him and looped his arm through Wes'. "Let's not worry about that too much, alright. I want to see how many breadsticks you can eat in an hour...we can get Gar to bet me some number for an extraordinary amount of money, and then when I win because you would never let me lose to him, we can split the money and use it to pay for dessert."

Wes dropped his head on David's shoulder, "I get 75% of the cut, right?"

David laughed and shoved him away. "My plan, I get at least 70%."

Wes laughed and reached for David's hand, pulling him towards the car. "Half and half, it is," he muttered.

By the time they got to Kurt's house, Blaine looked better. He'd regained some color, but he still couldn't walk on his own. Kurt wrapped his arm around Blaine's waist and let the other boy lean into him. They made it to the living room, where Kurt sat him down on the couch.

"I'll be right back," he told Blaine. "I'll just run to the kitchen real quick, okay. You'll be alright?"

Blaine nodded and lifted his legs onto the couch, leaning his head against his knees. Kurt watched him for a moment and then went to fetch water and something to clean Blaine's hands with. He hadn't noticed until they were in the light of his house that he'd scratched them up, and they were still covered in dirt.

When he returned, Blaine looked a little more comfortable, his body leaning into the arm of the sofa and his legs folded under him. He jumped when Kurt entered the room, but relaxed when he realized it was him.

"Drink this," he handed Blaine a glass of water that he gratefully brought up to his lips and set aside quickly.

Kurt watched him, standing just in front of him. He moved the coffee table aside and knelt in front of him. "Give me your hands," he instructed.

Blaine slowly showed Kurt both of his hands.

"You hurt them on the ground," Kurt told him gently and with the wet cloth wiped the dirt off both his hands. There was no actual blood, just a few scratches that would heal in a few days, barely noticeable.

When he was done, he set the cloth aside on the table and got up to sit next to Blaine, keeping one of Blaine's hands in his own and rubbing on it lightly.

Blaine leaned instinctually towards him, his head dropping to Kurt's shoulder. "I'm sorry," he said.

"Sorry?" Kurt asked.

"It was like the time I came to help you with him back when we first met...I...I just froze and you were so calm and brave..."

Kurt frowned at him and opened his mouth to refute that. Blaine moved against him, scooting closer so that Kurt could wrap his arms around him. Blaine sighed and beat him to talking.

"And I hate him," he said. "He kissed you, Kurt. Just took that right from you and now you don't..."

"I don't what, Blaine?" Kurt pulled him closer, craving more than anything that boy as close to him as possible.

Blaine moved with him, curling closer against Kurt.

"You wouldn't," Blaine said.

"Wouldn't what?"

"Kiss me. When I asked, you wouldn't..." He hid his face in Kurt's neck and Kurt shuddered when he felt Blaine's breath dancing on his skin.

Kurt didn't know what to say. There was too much running through his mind. Blaine's breath was falling, brushing against his skin which was admittedly driving him crazy and then there was the constant replaying of what had happened earlier that night. Worry was mixed in there as well. Blaine seemed okay now, but he was still a bit pale, and there was no denying that something had happened to him when Karofsky was going at him.

"I want to, Blaine. God, do I want to...but, Sweetheart, you almost had a panic attack, you were in shock and you're still..."

Blaine lifted his head from Kurt's shoulder and looked up at Kurt. He withdrew one of his hands from Kurt's and brought it up to cup Kurt's cheek. "Stop worrying about me. I'm here...and we're together and whatever that was back there...it won't happen again. I just-" he ducked his head "-I freaked a bit...thinking about the past I guess and now all I want is to forget."

Kurt shifted so he could reach for Blaine's face, tipping it up a bit. "I haven't kissed you because I wanted it to be perfect and I was scared...and I was going to back then, before Karofsky showed up and that just ruined the moment." He caressed Blaine's cheeks, still tear stained from earlier.

Blaine leaned into Kurt's touch and Kurt smiled a little, as he gazed at his boyfriend.

"Please," Blaine whispered. "I don't want to push...I didn't even consider what he could have brought back for you, and if you're not ready..."

Kurt rubbed his chapped lips together and shook his head a bit. "I was waiting for a perfect moment," he told Blaine, "but I guess, wouldn't that make the moment perfect?" He grinned at his boyfriend. "A kiss, then, in exchange I think you need to tell me what happened to you."

Blaine nodded almost imperceptibly and Kurt leaned towards him. Blaine licked his lips in anticipation and Kurt let out a breath before he tilted his head slightly and holding Blaine's face gently, leaned closer until their lips touched. For a single second neither moved, and then Kurt pressed harder, and swept his lips against Blaine's. Blaine who had been still at first, was kissing back at once. His hands had fallen to Kurt's waist and he was pulling the slimmer boy closer. Kurt let Blaine bring their bodies closer and gasped against Blaine's lips when he felt Blaine warm and pressed against him. He dropped his hand from Blaine's face and slowly trailed it to the back of Blaine's neck.

Kissing Blaine was like nothing else Kurt had ever felt. There was a warm, fluttery feeling in his chest, and all thought escaped him. All he wanted was for Blaine to be even closer and for the kissing to never end. When he began to feel lightheaded due to lack of hair, he pulled back, but only just, dropping his forehead against Blaine's and feeling Blaine's harsh breaths mingle with his. He opened his eyes languidly and met Blaine's eyes.

"I love you," Blaine whispered and shifted a bit so he was more comfortable against the arm of the couch, bringing Kurt with him.

Kurt made a sound that sounded a bit like a whine and he bent his head forward again, brushing his lips against Blaine's in a gentle, tender kiss.

"Love you too," he muttered and kissed the corner of Blaine's mouth, moving to his cheek and then jaw, leaving open mouth kisses until he just rested his head on Blaine's shoulder, head turned towards Blaine.

Blaine's arms tightened around Kurt's waist. "Perfect," he breathed, "it was just perfect."

Kurt made a noise that must have been his agreement.

Dalton Academy looked good in the pamphlet, and it looked even better when they arrived at its doors for the tour Lorie had managed to get for them. The grounds spread out before Blaine and the main building with its beautiful architecture full of detail that reminded him of something out of a Jane Austen movie and almost at once Blaine knew that this place might be perfect for him.

"Pretty," Lorie said, coming up behind him and gripping his shoulders, one of her hands held a cell phone and that pressed into his shoulder.

He turned away from the school and looked at her over his shoulder. "Everett and Nancy aren't going to call you every ten minutes, no matter what you told them to do."

She smiled nervously and sighed. "I know. I just...we've never been apart for so long."

"You didn't have to come," Blaine said.

Lorie pulled him closer. "I wanted to. I needed to. Blaine, you may not be my son biologically but I've considered you my son since before I even married your dad. I love you, Blaine, and I just want you to be the happiest you can and I need to know that this place will."

Blaine smiled. "I love you too," he whispered

"Anyway," Lorie said, "come on, I think your dad's coming now. We should head inside."

Mr. Anderson did indeed appear, then, grinning at them and then followed him into the main building towards an office.

Blaine looked around. It was like no other school he had ever been to. The halls were clean with marble floors and walls decorated with portraits. There was wall paper and crown moldings and comfortable chairs. He spotted a group of boys walking out of a room with double doors and found himself smiling as one of them, an Asian boy, took something out of another's arms and ran off. The other boy chased him and Blaine watched as he wrapped his arms around the boy that had stolen from him. They were laughing and the other boys that had followed close after them just seemed to shake their heads and laugh and they continued on their way.

Blaine smiled to himself. He knew that what had just happened in front of him would have gone very differently back at his old school and seeing how normal those boys had taken it made him hope that he could do well here. Actually make friends.

The last place they visited on their tour of the grounds, classrooms and different buildings were the dorm houses and Blaine was surprised when he saw the two boys again when they entered the nearest one.

"They're all basically the same," the woman that was taking them around said and began to explain how they worked.

"Wes," the one boy, dark skinned and just taller than the one he'd called Wes was saying when they entered.

The two stopped, looking surprised at them. Then Wes, smiled and mumbled something to their guide before he grabbed the other boy's hand and led him away towards a set of stairs. Blaine looked after them and blushed when they both turned to peer back down at them. They grinned and waved with their connected hands and Blaine had the small moment to wonder if they were gay and together, before Lorie was pulling him to look at a few rooms before the tour concluded.

By the time they were back at the office, Blaine had already made up his mind. He'd go to Dalton Academy even though it meant not getting to see Lorie or his dad or Everett or Addy, or even Nancy as often as he'd like.

When his dad turned to him as they headed towards the car, with the question in his eyes, Blaine smiled. "I want to go here," he told them.

And he would befriend the possibly gay Wes and his friend or boyfriend.

"They were cuddling," Wes stated with a roll of his eyes as he followed David to sit across from where Blaine and Kurt were still sitting curled into one another.

David grinned a little. "Yeah," he said, "and they looked like they had been doing something else prior to the cuddling." He nudged Wes.

Wes rolled his eyes. "It's good and everything, but I expected to find them crying or something, you know, after everything." He eyed the couple across from them with an expression that David couldn't define on his face.

David frowned at him for a moment and then pulled Wes farther into the cushions behind them. "Come on, we could mimic them and see how long it takes them to realize we're making fun of them."

David angled his body so Wes could fit against him in the perfect cuddle position that Blaine and Kurt were currently in, but Wes, stiff, didn't fall into him as he usually would. Instead he shifted away.

"Wes?"

Wes barely glanced in David's direction as he mumbled something about it being too warm.

David sat up again and moved closer to his best friend. "Are you alright, Wes?"

Wes nodded, a stiff nod that he usually reserved for Neil when he did something crazy that impacted him in some way.

"You're not," David told him. "You've been different for a while, now, Wes, and I don't want to...can you please look at me?"

David almost missed the shake of Wes' head because it was such a small movement. He frowned at Wes' back and slowly moved the slightest bit closer. He didn't understand. They'd been joking and having a good time merely ten minutes before, and dinner with the others had gone perfectly as if things were back to normal and yet now Wes was acting stranger than ever.

"Wes, you're my best friend...why...if I've done anything, just, can you tell me? I can't deal with you not...please, Wes." In act that should not have required so much thought, David leaned forward, letting his head drop against Wes' back, breathing in the familiar earthy scent that was all Wes.

Wes sighed against him for a moment, and when that moment was gone, he was standing and David just managed to catch himself. Wes' quick movement alerted Kurt and Blaine to them and they both looked up, still tangled in each other, with questioning expressions.

"Wes?"

Wes turned to look at him. "Just leave me alone for a bit, David, okay. I'll...I'll be back."

David nodded, not being able to hide his discomfort and worry amidst the confusion that was also prevalent in his eyes. Wes looked lost, like he didn't know who he was and much less where he was. He walked in the direction of the kitchen and David stared after him before letting his head drop into his hands.

He heard Blaine and Kurt moving and almost jumped when Kurt who had taken Wes' seat next to him, placed a hand on his shoulder.

"What was that about?"

"Do I like I know?" David asked in a snappish tone. He shook his head. "Sorry...I, just, we were having such a good time earlier, it was like before and I thought we were back to normal but then he got all weird and I have no idea what I did wrong and I hate seeing him like that and he won't talk to me and I just...He's my best friend, Kurt. I love him...and I can't see him so distraught, not over something I obviously did." He hung his head, and mumbled, "not that I even know what I must have done."

David groaned and leaned in the direction of Kurt. "What am I supposed to do?" He asked.

Kurt shifted until he could support David and made a comforting noise as he began to rub David's back. "It'll be okay...just get him to talk to you. You said it yourself, he's your best friend."

I wanted to have a big Finn scene in this chapter and it was going to involve Kurt, but, well, Kurt was busy with Blaine. They finally kissed. And it was just what I imagined it would be when I decided to push it back, and I like that it happened here.

I also really enjoyed writing the last scene in this chapter with Wes and David, because I now know what's going on with them now and I can't wait to write more with them. And with Kurt and Blaine too, for that matter. Just a few more chapters left, as I've mentioned before. There's just some things I want to fully close up, but this is the last flashback chapter and the bullying bit is over...although I do think there will still be a Finn scene in the next chapter...and I guess this whole Rachel/Finn/Jesse thing should be resolved. As well just the last bits of closure for Gar.

Anyhow, I haven't started on the next chapter yet, so I have no idea when it will be up. Next week maybe, or if I get really into it tomorrow (no class), this weekend...

Hope you liked it. Please review.
