Author's Note: It's PLL Tuesday and I've got another one-shot for you! Hopefully there's some cute Spoby in this episode...but I have the feeling I'm not going to be that happy after this episode. I mean, I know Keegan's in it, so Toby's obviously there, but...the drugs, man. Drugs screw up everything.
PSA from Kayson: Don't do drugs. It makes Toby very unhappy.
So...yeah. And I'm still procrastinating because I haven't done a damn thing of my homework and I have school tomorrow AND I still have to do Bio homework (for my Bio teacher, who teaches us not a damn thing), History homework (zzz) Shakespeare homework (double zzz), Geometry homework (triple zzz), and English homework (I already speak it goodly).
So I am sighing very, very loudly. On the upside, I only really have to do Bio, History, and English, probably the least painful of the five subjects.
I still want to cry.
Day Twenty-Nine: Stutter by Maroon 5
"…And then I have to study for French and Chemistry and English…you'll help me, right?"
His mouth suddenly went dry. "I…um…sure," he stuttered.
Spencer smiled brightly.
"Hey, Spencer," Hanna said as she walked up to the lunch table. "Did you forget? We have the Homecoming Committee meeting today at lunch," she reminded her.
Spencer gasped. "Oh, my God. I totally forgot about it."
"We can still make it if we go now," Hanna said as she glanced over her shoulder at the clock.
Spencer nodded before she got up. She turned back to the group. "I'm sorry, you guys. Tomorrow?"
Emily shrugged while Caleb didn't really have a reaction.
"Have fun being a nerd!"
Toby just sighed. Caleb and Emily both studied him curiously.
"What is your problem? Whenever Spencer's around, it's like you have peanut butter stuck to the roof of your mouth. It's actually scaring me," Emily told him.
He sighed. "I'm just…not myself around her."
"Are you ever going to tell her how you feel?" Caleb asked, finally putting his phone down.
Toby was silent and turned away from Emily and Caleb.
Emily turned to Caleb. "That means yes," she told him.
"You can't be scared. If you're scared, you're never going to get her."
Toby scoffed. "Like Spencer would ever want to date me," he said somewhat bitterly. "She doesn't even notice me in that way."
"Toby, you need to fix your outlook of things. When you stop thinking that she's going to reject you without you even saying anything, maybe she'll start to develop feelings for you," Emily said before taking a sip of water.
Toby sat later at the library, sketching…well, nothing, really, in particular. Just random figures that came to mind spontaneously.
"Hey. Are you studying hard without me?" Spencer asked as she sat across from him and began to take out all of her textbooks and notebooks.
"Um…not really," he said, trying not to think too much about her. But it was hard. Lately, it was like all he ever thought about was her.
Usually, when he began to think about her, he'd wonder if she ever thought of him, fondly, as he thought of her. He realized rather quickly that the only thing worse than feeling like he was in this one-sided infatuation was being completely enamored with someone who didn't feel the same. He didn't know what he'd do if the latter became his reality.
That was why he preferred not to know, as much as he wanted to. He knew that if his feelings weren't reciprocated, it would be too painful remaining her friend.
"Toby?" Spencer asked, breaking Toby out of his own thoughts.
Toby shook his head, shaking himself out of it. "Sorry, Spencer. What did you say?" he asked.
She laughed slightly as she looked over her notes. "I asked if you got all of the Chemistry notes. I'm not as fast of a writer as you," she explained sheepishly.
He nodded before finding his Chemistry notebook and handing her the notes.
"No wonder you write so quickly," Spencer said after a moment of looking at the notes. She had a small smirk on her lips. "Your handwriting is like chicken scratches," she teased.
He tried to come up with a response. She just shook her head with a smile as she began to copy his notes. Her handwriting, just like everything else about her, was perfect.
"You've been really quiet tonight," Spencer thought aloud as she walked home with Toby.
He shrugged. Normally, he liked being with her and only wanted to spend more time with her. But today, she was enjoying a game of 20 questions and it was rattling his nerves.
"Is there something you're not telling me?" she said finally, standing in front of him and acting as a human barricade when they got to in front of her house.
He tried avoiding eye contact. He could barely even look at her these days. "There's nothing wrong, I…I've just been stressed."
She shook her head. "That's bullshit, Toby. You've only been acting this way around me. What's wrong?" she asked again.
He sighed. He really just wanted to kiss her, for a multitude of reasons. Not only would it satisfy his growing crush on her, but it would just get her to be quiet about the whole situation.
She sighed as well, staring down at her feet. "I guess I was just kidding myself," she murmured quietly to herself.
"What?"
She turned a bit pale. "Nothing. Just forget about it. I'll see you tomorrow, Toby," she said somewhat glumly, the upbeat energy drained from her voice.
"No, Spence—"
He stopped her. She turned around and stared him in the eye.
He sighed. This would be it. Things would either go well or not.
He went on. "I know I've been acting weird lately, but…I just can't stop thinking about you and it…scares me," he said, his voice getting quieter as the words dragged on.
Her brown eyes glowed with…something. It looked like fire.
"Really?"
He nodded, looking away from her. He looked down at his feet. Before he could really realize what was going on, Spencer pressed her lips onto his. It was tenacious, fearless, and it felt amazing on both ends.
Toby knew he really never wanted to let go of her when they kissed for a second time.
After those kisses were over, Spencer knew it was time for her to leave. Still, she really didn't want to part from him.
So I was advised by a couple of people to make my stories happier. And this is what happened.
Sorry, guys. I screwed up. Epically.
But this is what happens when you watch too much PewDiePie cursing at Flappy Bird and people destroying poor iPhone 5s-es. Your brain begins to melt.
Um...and...I got a lot more reviews than I'm used to, which is hooray for that, but I'm kind of curious as to where this influx of reviewers came from. Like...hello, everybody! This collection is a mess. Stop judging me.
MizzIsTheFizz:Thank you! I tried my best (and probably failed). I will try to keep up the mediocre work.
eveningshades1107: Okay. We can start after this review. Yesterday, I was watching the first episode of DM and Cathy was like, "I like Botox [...] I don't want anyone to think I'm Vivi's grandma," but I was thinking...well...you look like her grandma. But good try, Cathy. I don't know what it is about her, but she's kind of scary, like, scarier than Abby. I think it's mostly because she's so fake and so sweet, but she's really not. Yeah, we'll need a support group. Tonight will be the first episode with Chloe and without her twinnie, Paige. That's going to make me so sad. I think it'll be so hard on Chloe and Christi, which makes me pretty sad (they'll both be missing their partners in crime). And now, who is Abby going to make the new scapegoat (seeing as she loved blaming everything on Paige)? I'm really scared. Moving onto PLL, Toby's membership to the Black Hoodie Gang is just another one of the seventy-nine or more plotholes the writers have given us. GREAT. Just like that lighter. Did we ever find out what happened to that lighter which Toby found in the season 3 finale? Are we ever going to find out if it was what started the fire? Will we ever actually know who A is?
Guest (Spoby-Lover): I tried. I failed. But I still tried!
Guest: That was actually a lot more than I expected from Marina. I usually wouldn't put that much of her in, only because she's so dark and angsty, but I guess I'll make some really angsty one-shots (and I also pulled a lot of her unreleased songs/demos into this list). But still, don't expect more until later (the grand finale!).
Guest:Sorry to disappoint, but I don't think I'm going to make any of these full-fledged stories. I think there might be one or two or several more which you grow to like before I'm done with this collection :)
FabsirellaPrincessOfPopcornia: The house competition is going FABULOUSLY. My house is in 1st by like 150 points (ahead of second). We won the 1st SAC Day, the GPA tally (technically not a competition, but we got the highest GPA out of all the houses), the House Olympics. And then, we placed 2nd in House Jeopardy, 3rd in the House Food Drive competition, and I have no idea what we placed in the House Decorating Contest (I think either 3rd or 4th), but we've still never lost a competition. I'm excited to see how the rest of the year goes. Hopefully we win the house cup for the second year in a row!
AL3110:A name is always a nice thing...
*Sigh*
I need to do my homework now. This is making me so unhappy. Hopefully tomorrow is a better day.
Oh, but it will be! Tomorrow I get to see my munchkins. You probably shouldn't expect another update until at least Thursday, since tomorrow, I'm supposed to bring my little cousins (the munchkins) out to Character Night at a diner and then I'll still probably have a ton of homework. And then I get to pick their brains about their new kittens, Jeremy Buttons and Lindy. This should be a cute night.
So the next one-shot will be I Won't by Colbie Caillat and if you think you don't know this song, you're lying to yourself. It was in the very first episode of PLL (which I know my PLLers didn't miss). It was featured in that scene where Aria sits on a box in her empty bedroom soon after coming home from Iceland. Ugh, I really have to do my homework now, don't I? Whatever. I'll just do it, no matter how numb my brain is. Don't forget to subscribe or comment or like or oops this isn't a YouTube video. Bye! -Kayson
