Ginny sat with her back to her door, her knees curled to her chest and her arms wrapped around them. Her head rested back against the wood. It had been several hours since the scene in the Heads' common room and she hadn't moved since. She knew he was still on the other side of the door. She could hear his deep breaths. His words echoed in her head.

I'm not going anywhere.

She felt the pain in her chest flair at the words. She didn't know what to make of the situation. The larger part of her wanted to fling the door open and snog him senseless so he forgot about Astoria. She wanted to believe that she had initiated the kiss and that he had tried to push her off (she had overheard him telling Luna). But a portion of her mind told her that he had used her, that he had never cared. She was just a convenient shag. The girl who shared a dorm with him; a relationship by proximity.

She sobbed dryly. All her tears had dried up a while ago. She lay on her side, her arm stretched out to cushion her head. She felt her eyelids droop. She was both pyshically and emotionally exahusted. As she hovered in the twilight between waking and sleeping, she saw a picture of Draco laughing and smiling at her. She felt a sharp pain in her chest as her heart shattered and fell, slowly burning into nothing more than a pile of ashes.

"Draco? What are you doing sleeping on the floor? And in front of Ginny's door?"

A voiced roused him from his slumber. He blinked sleep filled eyes up at Hermione, who stood over him with a confused expression. He groaned when he remembered the events of the previous day.

"Longbottom didn't tell you?" he mumbled sitting up.

"Tell me what?"

Draco explained the whole situation to the Gryffindor who listened with wide eyes and a slightly opened mouth.

"But Astoria forced you? It wasn't you?"

"No! I would never do that to Gin! I- I love her," his voice broke, and he buried his face in his hands, "Merlin, I've screwed up."

"You did not do anything, Malfoy."

"Maybe I did. Maybe I gave Greengrass the wrong idea. Maybe I was just playing with fire the whole time. I'm not good enough for Ginny. I was bound to get burned eventually. It just happened much sooner than I expected. She deserves better anywa- OW! Bloody hell, woman!" he glared at Hermione as he rubbed the side of his head where she had hit him.

"Ginny needs you. To hell with what she deserves! And because you think you are so wrong for her is exactly why you are perfect for her, you daft divvy!" She emphasized her point by smacking him again.

"AH! You're off your rocker! Bloody bird!" Draco backed away from the angry girl before him.

"You listen here, Malfoy, and you listen well: Ginny needs you. Damn the consequences! You are to work your arse off to get her back, got it? That's one of my best friend in there and she's in pain because some Slytherin slag decided to shag you. You get to fix this. This is partially your fault!"

"You just said it wasn't me!" he exclaimed, baffled.

"I lied to make you feel better. Suck it up!" the bushy haired girl snipped.

Draco stared at Hermione. He had never heard her use so many swear words before. This side of her shocked him. And he thought he had it bad when he had teased her before the war. Apparently, one did not want to hurt one of the Gryffindor's friends.

"okay, I'll talk to her today but not now. I have class soon," he turned to walk to his room, "What did you come here for, Granger? Besides beating me black and blue."

"I have a question for the Head Girl, about prefect rounds. I would ask you but I might slap you again. I'm still mad at you." Draco chuckled, shaking his head.

"Bloody bird," he muttered before shutting himself in his room to get ready for the day.
