AN: Heya team, hope this chapter finds you well. So I have decided that in two to three chapters this story will be over (I will try and push it to four but NO promises).
This chapter is the next segment in Quinn's trip in New Zealand and the next chapter we will switch perspectives and see Rachel's adventure in New York.

I hope you will enjoy this short chapter. Oh and quick warning, there is a lot of dialogue in this chapter.

Chapter 29:

22nd July 2012

The smell, it was that horrible sulphuric smell that caught Quinn's nose the moment she stepped off the bus in Rotorua.

"Aw Mum, it's smells like rotten eggs," a kid behind Quinn was complaining as they were collecting their bags.

"Oi you'll get used to it so no complaining," the mother replied.

"Why'd we have to come?"

"Because Nana is here,"

"Can I play with my DS now?"

"No,"

"Aw Mum,"

"Jeremy you're going to get a hiding if you don't shut it,"

"You can't,"

"I'll smack you up the head, now get your bag,"

Quinn didn't hear more as she grabbed her bag and shouldered it.

Suddenly her phone went off, "Hello?" she answered.

"Hey Qweagle, you have a good trip?" Aaron her boss asked.

"Yep I did, it was boring, and some kid was complaining most of the way so I had to blast music in my ears,"

"Aw some kids can be real cunts sometimes,"

"I reckon,"

"Look, the family and I hope you'll have a safe and good trip around New Zealand ay, and keep in touch,"

"Shall do,"

"You mean you'll try to,"

"That's what I meant,"

"Good, safe journey's Qweagle,"

"Thanks,"

And with that the phone conversation ended as Quinn pocketed her phone and looked around for an available taxi.

After finding one, she finally managed to find the backpackers that Aaron had told her about after trying to remember the name and then realised she had saved the name on the phone.

"Sorry about that," Quinn said sheepishly.

"She'll be right, you're here now ay," the taxi driver said.

"Thank you,"

"Enjoy your stay ay Miss,"

"Thank you again," Quinn said as she paid the driver and grabbed her gear out of the taxi.

She looked at the building, it was fairly simple and it reminded her of a budget version of a hotel, but she liked it. She moved inside and decided to ask for Petey before sitting down on a available chair and waiting for him at the reception area.

"Qweagle?" a man's voice said.

"Yeah, that's me," Quinn said as she stood up from her chair to see a tall, built, Maori guy standing in front of her.

"Kia Ora, I'm Uncle Petey; that's what all the fellas here call me,"

"I'm Quinn,"

"Nice to meet you,"

"Same here,"

"So you looking to work here?"

"Yes I am, well, work and live,"

"Aw ay, so what job can you do Quinn?"

"What you got available?"

"Reception, oh and sometimes I need you to work in the pool hall,"

"You have a pool hall?"

"Yeah bro, it's pretty neat, just down the hallway there,"

"Cool, I love pool and you have a pool hall, that's cool,"

"Glad you're enthusiastic,"

"I'm excited, but the smell, gah,"

"Don't worry about it ay, you'll get used to it in time, it's the geysers you have to worry about,"

"Geysers?"

"Yeah, well, on Tarewa Road anyway there have been one or two reports of them erupting in people's living rooms, but you should be sweet as here,"

Quinn paled slightly at that.

Petey laughed as he said, "Mate you'll be right, c'mon I'll show you to your room, short to long term ay?"

"Yep, probably about a month or so, maybe longer all depending,"

"Choice, you got your visas and all that?"

"Yep,"

"Good, well I'll let you get settled in and we can talk tomorrow about what you're going to do ay, get to know Rotorua a bit,"

"Thanks Uncle Petey,"

"Oh, and Aaron says you got a missus,"

"Yes I do,"

"Just don't talk to Sharn about her ay, Sharn's a bit of an over religious type so you may not want to mention anything to her, oh and before I forget, internet password, try not to go over our limit ay,"

"Thanks and you have an internet limit?"

"Yeah, about five hundred gigs,"

"You guys have capped internet in New Zealand?"

"Yep, I'm moving to a new plan next week so please try not to motor through it ay,"

"Okay but that's so weird, capped internet in a place like New Zealand,"

"You didn't know internet was capped here in New Zealand?"

"No, I mean I usually just went to the internet cafés in Auckland so I never thought to ask,"

"You'll survive though ay,"

"Yeah, I'm sure I'll be fine,"

"Good, will meet you tomorrow in my office at about eleven,"

"Thanks, will see you then,"

Once Quinn had settled down she decided to see if Rachel was still up since it would be about midnight now and she knew the diva was a bit of a night owl since moving to New York.

She didn't have to wait long as Rachel answered the Skype call.

"Hey baby, how are you?" Rachel asked as she looked at Quinn with a big smile on her face.

"I'm good, just arrived in Rotorua," Quinn answered with a smile, "How's the past?"

"It's good, I get to tell people I'm talking to someone in the future but it just seems to confuse them,"

"I see, you about to retire for the night? Where exactly are you? It's so dark,"

"Well, I'm,"

"SHACKING UP WITH A CUTE BRITISH BRUNETTE GUY," a male's voice yelled over at the Skype and then Quinn could see Rachel literally fall off the bed as her friend from NYADA jumped onto her bed.

Rachel grumbled angrily as she stood up and went to turn on the light.

"Hello Bryce, how are you? Still can't sleep on your own huh?" Quinn said with a smirk.

"I tell you that she's shacking up with me and your way of answering to that is to say hello in a nice way?"

"Yep,"

"She, but I,"

"You can go away," Rachel said as she shoved Bryce aside.

"Oi," Bryce said with a mock anger as he clambered back onto the bed.

"My girlfriend, my time, shoo,"

"But cuddle ducks,"

"Bryce! We are not cuddling, and stop calling me cuddle ducks,"

"I could call you Tinker-Bell; it's what Brittany's been calling you recently,"

"Tinker-Bell? Really?" Quinn asked as she tried to supress a laugh.

"It's because I told Santana that like Tinker-Bell I need applause to be alive, Brittany decided that because I'm so short she'd continue calling me Tinker-Bell because I'm tiny and fairy like, apparently,"

"Aww that's so cute,"

"Right?!" Bryce added.

"Shut up," Rachel started.

"Tinker-Bell is such a cute nickname," Quinn said more to herself.

"I think so too," Bryce added with a cheeky grin.

"Okay Bryce, as you'd say in your lingo, shove off," Rachel said as she finally pushed him off her bed with her feet.

"Okay, okay, I'm going, yeesh, you crazy American girls,"

"If we're so crazy why are you chasing half of us?"

"Because some of you are easy,"

"That's such an insult, we are not,"

"Of course some of you are, plus I'm good for a shag,"

"I wouldn't know,"

"You could find out,"

"EW!"

"I'd return back to the U.S. just to rip your balls off," Quinn yelled through the screen.

"All right, all right, I'll keep it in my pants," Bryce said as he waved goodbye from the door before adding, "For now,"

Rachel let out an annoyed growl.

"Frustrated?" Quinn asked.

"Yes, why oh why did I think it was a good idea to rent an apartment with him?" Rachel asked as she collapsed on the bed then looked back up at Quinn.

"Because he's your new best friend who happens to like theatre and is a smart ass,"

"He's a pain in the ass,"

Quinn just laughed, "So Miss Bell, how have you been?"

"I've been good, I think that ever since I moved out of the dorms it's been good, and having a good friend who happens to own his own place is a plus,"

"That is true,"

"But I miss you,"

"I won't be gone for so long, time will eventually go by so fast that eventually we'll want it to slow down so that we have more of a chance to do the things we'd want to do before everything runs out,"

"I know,"

"Listen, can you see the moon?"

"Yeah, a bit, why?"

"Go to the window, oh and take me with you,"

Rachel got up as she walked to the window holding her laptop in one arm.

"It's a beautiful moon, I can partially see it," Quinn said.

Rachel adjusted her screen.

"Oh, now I see it, it's a nice moon," Quinn said.

"Yeah it is," Rachel said.

"Hold your thumb out and put it over the moon,"

"Okay,"

"I'm doing it too, and tonight I will do it again because I miss you too sweetie,"

"I miss you,"

"I know, you've said, but I'll be home before you know it,"

"Yeah, I know, I just, I can't wait for you to get back here and then I can just hold you again,"

"Me too,"

"Listen, I better get some sleep,"

"Good idea, I'm going exploring,"

"Okay, I love you,"

"I love you too,"

"Goodnight, I'll be seeing ya,"

Quinn smiled sadly as she switched Skype off. She missed Rachel but it wouldn't be too long to go, she was scheduled to fly back to the United States in the second week of December.

She smiled at that thought as she closed her laptop, packed it away and decided that she'd start exploring a small part of the town she was now in. Starting with going to the information centre.

November 28th 2073

"Oh adventures and distance," Lu-Lu said before asking, "How is Bryce by the way? I can't remember what happened to him,"

"He died young, always did love the dangerous life that one, he decided that he'd speed on his motorcycle and he wasn't wearing a helmet, from what the scene cops could tell he swerved off the road to avoid hitting a little girl, but he crashed and died instantly," Bell answered sadly as she closed the book.

"Oh, I'm sorry,"

"Hmmm, it was a sad time, I cursed at him when it was just you and me by his coffin, I had to ask him why he was so silly to do such a thing, why he risked his life and why he left his family behind,"

"It is good to let things out,"

"I know, but as is with death there is never an answer, it was just an unfortunate thing that happened,"

The two were quiet after that before Lu-Lu took Bell's hand and asked, "So I have to ask, how was it that I was totally okay with you living with him?"

"Bryce was a good guy and you trusted him because you trusted me; he may be a ladies man but he wasn't one to go for any girl if she was taken, it wasn't in his code so to speak," Bell answered.

"Who was he?"

"He said to me that he was from old money and that being the youngest son in the family he could whatever the hell he liked and he wanted to become an actor, so he came to New York to study and he and I just gelled, we shared everything together; and I told him how miserable I was a month into living in a dorm and when you and I discussed it with him we were all okay with me going to live with him since he had a spare room,"

"Aha, go on,"

"Well, when we both finished NYADA he returned back to England and started to try and find work in the West End, which he eventually got, he eventually met a nice girl, they got married, you and I were there for the wedding, and they had a daughter together and sadly he died the year later,"

"I see,"

"Yeah,"

The two women were quiet again before Lu-Lu, as always, broke the silence by asking, "So Rachel, when are we going to hear about you in NYADA? I mean I'm glad I can hear about my travels in New Zealand but what about you?"

"That's the next part of the tale actually..."

"Oh, do read,"

"...That we'll read tomorrow,"

"What?"

Bell just laughed as she pointed at the time making Lu-Lu huff at her.

AN 2: Before you ask, yes there is capped Internet in New Zealand and yes there have been geysers that have erupted before in people's homes in Rotorua, but just on Tarewa Road. Lol.
Anyway, I'll try and get the next chapter out as soon as I can, until next time team.
