BlackLynx17: I just finished writing this chapter, so please excuse my mistakes.
"Mom."
"AHHHHHHH!"
"Wendy, we can't."
"OH MY GOD!"
"Why-? Wendy, oh no Wendy."
"IS THIS FOR REAL?!"
"Mother, we have six kids, we don't have the-
"WHY ARE WE JUST STANDING HERE? LET'S GO!"
Grandine chuckled, "go ahead and run off kids. We'll catch up in a minute."
"THANKS GRANDMA!" All the little Gryder's yelled out as they started running towards the amusement park.
It wasn't just an amusement park though, but one of the largest amusement parks/hotel/water park/spa/EXPENSIVE AS HELL WITH NO WAY THAT THEY CAN AFFORD THIS in the whole country of Fiore.
"When I meant a vacation, I meant somewhere cheap." Doranbolt said.
"I got this Doranbolt, Mom you don't seem to understand the human concept of 'money' and how much it costs having six kids."
"I am well aware of this money concept Wendy. You do remember the old saying about dragons, don't you?" Grandine asked with a toothy grin.
"That they don't know what money is?" Wendy asked.
"That they always guard treasure, jewels, gold, this money humans use. This trip is all on me you two and consider me your baby sitter for this whole vacation! Surprise!" Grandine cheered throwing her hands in the air.
Doranbolt's jaw dropped, Wendy started laughing though she didn't know the reason why.
"Now if you excuse me I have some grandchildren to find and watch over, but here are your hotel keys. We'll all be back for dinner say around, 8? Any sooner and I'm afraid the kids won't budge at all."
"Mom-" Wendy said, but she didn't know what to say.
Grandine quickly started running off, a bright grin on her face as she planned to join in the fun, leaving Doranbolt and Wendy behind in the dust just like their kids have done.
"I-I-I don't know what to think right now." Doranbolt said.
"I don't think she's going to pay, I think she's going to turn into a dragon and wreck this whole place right before we pay the bill." Wendy blinked slowly.
She looked down at the key and it seemed real, felt real, and the name 'Gryder' was tied to the key. Her mother may have been a dragon, but she wasn't stupid. She knew to give a fake name if they were going to destroy the hotel they were staying at.
"This looks real."
"I guess it is real then... so, I'm just going to go lie down and go to sleep and wake up to see if it is actually real. You can join me or you can join our kids, I'd go with the kids though because I fear of how your mother 'watches' children." Doranbolt said taking the key out of her hands.
"Hold on honey, this is a family vacation. We should be with the family, besides. They might find out we can't pay tomorrow and we would have wasted the day resting." Wendy explained.
Doranbolt blinked, "you do make a point. Find the kids?"
Wendy nodded, "find the kids."
"Daddy! Daddy! Look!" Grandine, his daughter, cheered.
Doranbolt looked over with a smile on his face and saw as she started swimming, kicking her feet and moving while the floaties on her arms kept her afloat.
"That's so good Grandy, come swim to Daddy!" Doranbolt smiled.
Grandine laughed as she started kicking over to him, Doranbolt lifting her out of the pool and swinging her around when she made it. Grandine had this huge smile on her face as she started flying.
"Dad! Look at what I can do!" Mest called out doing a handstand underwater.
"Dad! Look at me!" Amir said doing a back flip into the pool.
"Dad! Come dive into the deep end with me!" Misty said teleporting into the water beside him, making a big splash.
"Daddy! Daddy! Come spin me around!" Nowi giggled slowly turning in her innertube.
"Dad, can we go on the waterslide? And can you teleport us off if it goes to fast?" Sora asked.
Wendy and Grandine watched as the young Gryder's all flocked around their father, asking for his attention. Wendy watched with a kind smile on her face while Grandine simply stared.
"Does he not spend time with them?" She asked.
"He does, he really does. He always attends important events, he's always there for breakfast and dinner, he's there for helping with homework, and whenever they need someone to talk to. Doranbolt is there, but he's only there for a while so on days when he's completely free the kids are always trying to show him what new things they learned and try to use up the whole day being with him. It kind of makes me jealous a little bit, although I'm always there and they show off in front of me all the time... all of them never fight for my attention like they are doing for Doranbolt," Wendy smiled lightly.
Grandine chuckled under her breath, "he really is a good father. You chose a good mate Wendy, a really good mate."
"Thanks Mom."
Sora frowned lightly hearing his mother's words and started kicking his feet around, turning the innertube to where his mother and his grandmother were sitting at the edge of the pool with their feet dipped in. He started kicking and swimming his way over, his mother smiling when she saw him make his way over.
"Sora, what's wrong? Are you tired? Do you want to take a rest? Or are you hungry? Want to get some food?"
Sora pouted, "no!"
"No to what honey?" Wendy giggled.
"I'm a big boy Mommy, I don't need to be babied anymore." Sora said.
Wendy blinked in shock while Grandine started laughing, "that's my grandson!"
"I wanted to get treated just like my brothers and sisters." Sora continued.
"But you're my baby. So I can't baby you at all anymore?" Wendy asked.
Sora shook his head.
"Not even a little bit?"
He hummed, "well... maybe a little bit, but you don't have to worry so much Mommy. I'm strong, Grandma told me that I am as strong as a dragon."
"Wow," Wendy whispered.
"But that wasn't the reason I came floating over here, I wanted to spend some time with you Mommy. Will you go on the slides with me and fly us off if it's too fast?" Sora asked.
"Sora, really? What about when you flew fast on my back, you weren't scared then were you?" Grandine asked.
"I guess not... never mind Mommy, just go on the slides with me. Please?" Sora asked smiling cutely.
Wendy felt an arrow shoot through her chest, "of course baby! Come here!"
"No! I'm a boy, I can get out myself." Sora said then started swimming over to where the stairs were.
Wendy watched him, "I've never seen him act like that before."
"He just needed some inspiration Wendy, some confidence. I saw how much you were babying him and taught him myself what it means to be a dragon slayer. His magic hasn't shown yet, but it's almost there. The winds favor him."
"I-I- I don't know how to thank you Mom, but thank you."
"You're welcome dear, now don't go ruining my hard work. I know he had a complicated birth, but look at him now. You've done a fine job raising him." Grandine said patting her daughter's head.
Sora finally got out of the pool and came running towards his mother. He slipped when he was close though and fell onto the ground. Wendy was immediately about to baby him, Grandine growled lightly though making her stop. Sora leaned up and started sniffing.
"Sora, you're fine. Come on, you wanted to go on the fast slides now? Didn't you?" Grandine asked getting up.
Sora sniffed against and wiped under her nose before standing back up on his own two feet, running back over again. Wendy cheered and picked up Sora, swinging him in the air, the innertube he was holding in his arms flying off, as she started kissing him.
"I love you Sora." She said pressing their foreheads together.
"I love you too Mommy. You too Grandma."
Doranbolt looked at the picture of his wife holding their child so close in her arms and couldn't help but feel pride in his chest. He was proud of all of his family, he was proud to be the father of this family and was blessed that they were all his.
"Wendy! Where are you going?" Doranbolt asked walking over carrying Nowi in his arms, Grandine on his shoulders, and Mest on his back.
Misty and Amir were in the background having a splash fight that they wouldn't back down from.
"Sora wants to go on the slides." Wendy said.
"Aw Sora, I thought you wanted to go on the slides with Daddy?" Doranbolt asked.
"I do!" Sora said jumping towards him.
Wendy squeaked as she reached for him, she couldn't catch him though and he went splashing into the water. Doranbolt's eyes widened as he started swimming over to save his son, his worries were for nothing though as Sora started laughing as he floated in the short end without his innertube.
"You can come too Daddy, I want everyone to come!" He cheered.
"Sora! You're swimming! Without floaties!" Doranbolt exclaimed.
"I am?" Sora asked then stopped kicking his feet and moving his arms.
He started sinking and struggled to stay afloat, Doranbolt immediately returning to the rescue and picking him back up.
"Well I was swimming." Sora pouted lightly.
Doranbolt started laughing loudly, Nowi, Mest, and Grandine joining in as they swam towards their little brother (they were tossed off when their father started swimming towards the rescue). Amir and Misty stopped their fight when they heard their family's laughter and swam over as well.
"Come on everyone, last one to the slides is a- oh darn, what's that saying Wendy?" Grandine asked snapping her fingers.
"It's rotten egg mother, last one to the slides is a ROTTEN EGG!" Wendy yelled as she took off running.
"MOMMY!" Some of her kids screamed out, Sora was the loudest one of them.
"Don't worry Sora, Mommy has never beaten Daddy." Doranbolt grinned as he teleported himself and his son towards the slides.
"Dad! Can you believe this Grandy? Mommy and Daddy just left us." Mest said.
"You're also forgetting Misty and Amir, come on Amir!" Misty giggled teleporting off with him as well.
"At least you three have Grandma, and Grandma thinks turning to a dragon and flying over there will get us there first." Grandine grinned.
Mest, Grandine, and Nowi's eyes all started sparkling as they rushed out the pool towards their grandma's side.
"REALLY?!"
