I flew faster that I ever thought I could heading straight toward the fort, but when I got there I found to my horror nobody was left.
Crap! Okay don't panic they couldn't have gotten very far. I swept the grounds looking for any footprints that would tell me where they would have gone but when that failed I had to stop and think.
Okay if I were a group of spirit benders who just finished a mission where would I go?
... A taven in a nearby city perhaps. But the nearest city was Morthal and that many armed people passing through the city would be a bad idea. Unless they weren't going to the city, they'd go someplace isolated. A place only an earthbender could get to. It was a long shot but it was then only place I could think of. So I took off through the mountains taking the time to stop and rest in the darkness of the trees so I wouldn't competly tire myself out. With every passing moment my worries grew and grew. Korra was by far the strongest bender I've ever seen, but when surroned by the entire equailst army after a long firefight she wouldn't last long but they wouldn't kill her. Or at least that was what I was hopeing for. I mean she was the avatar and if they killed her the cycle would just start over so they'd deffinatly keep her alive.
I was exhaushed when I finally collasped on the ground near the entrace to the secret hideout of earthbenders when I realized that I wasn't a bender and as such couldn't open the door.
"Asami?" My head whipped toward the voice seeing Bolin walking up to the entrance holding two bags of fruit.
"Asami I thought you and Korra were off doing that dragon's errands. Wait where's Korra?"
"Equalists grabbed her!"
"What!?"
"They were being led by one of their generals. They're probably heading for Solitude right now. I need your help to get her back." He dropped his sacks and ripped open the entrance before running full speed screaming everything I just told him as I followed closely behind.
Everyone who head started murmering while others started panicking while the rest started gathering weapons and putting on armor. When we got to the center of the hideout I saw he was screaming to Toph about what had happaned. She seemed to listen for a few seconds before slugging Bolin to the ground.
"Calm down you idiot your giving me a headache. Now will someone tell me exactly what happaned?"
"Korra had just defeated a powerful firebender as her final task by her dragon teacher when we were attacked by an equalist general who could create explosions. Last I saw they were loading her into a cart."
She bent down and put one hand on the ground before a green light filled the ground and shot out of the cave.
"I see her. Yeah they're moving toward Solitued all right. From what I can see she's still out cold and heavily guarded."
"How can you see them you're blind?"
"Everythings connected, you just have to know how to listen. Now everyone calm down and shut up we have plans to make. Bolin send a message to your boss and tell them what happaned."
"Right" as he went to find a bird Toph pulled me into another section of the system.
"Alright listen up we don't have much time before Amon does something public to your girl. I have a few old friends that owe me some favores but right now you need to get to Korra and make sure she stay's alive."
"Okay but how? Solitude is the most guarded city in Skyrim. Just how and I supposed to get in?"
"You're a vampire stupied just fly in at night."
She knows? How?
But before I could ask she cut me off. "Please you think I didn't notice your lack of a heartbeat. I'm blind not stupid, besides your not the first vampire I've run accross in my time. Now rest here untill night falls then sneak into the city I'll have one of my contacts waiting outside the inn but be warned he can get a bit intense. I saved his life a few years back from a group of equalists so he owes me big time"
I wanted to protest but I was far to out of engery and barely had promptley collasped onto the nearest bed.
"I'll come back for you later, right now I have to make sure these idiots don't do anything stupied while my back is turned but don't worry we'll save her." as if on cue to men came running past her half dressed in armor and wielding axes screaming about storming the city. She took two steps away then bent a wall to block me in.
"And that's to make sure you don't do anything stupied." As the darkness envelped the room I couldn't help but feel a bit arrgivated, it's true I was planning on sneaking out sooner but I did have a plan. Or at least the part that got me into the city.
After a few minutes I finally calmed down enough to realize she was right and crawled into the bed and let sleep claim me.
I don't know how long time passed or how many nightmares I had involving Korra but I do know is that it was Toph who woke me.
"Wake up it's time you get going."
"What time is it?"
"Night now come on my associate is in place and I've recieved word that Korra was taken directly to the dungeon. Other than that she's fine." hearing those words filled my heart with hope as I was led to the surface where Bolin and a few men were waiting.
"We're going with you."
"Are you sure? You've already been caught by them once so they know your face." Although I not one to talk seeing as they caught me to
"We said we're going with you, we never said we were going into the city. While you meet with the man inside the city we'll be using an old theives guild tunnel that leads into the blue palace. Once inside we cause a distraction and you free Korra."
There were so many things that could go wrong but right now the only thing was getting Korra free.
"And what of the other spirit benders?"
"Well good news is our boss is sending troops for his final push on the city. The bad news is they won't get here untill tommrow evening at the latest. So hopefully we're out of the city by the time the battle starts."
Have to make sure Korra doesn't hear this. knowing here she'll demand to be there and won't leave untill she faces Amon.
I took a deep breath and activated my powers and shot into the sky flying through the swamp and over the glistning lake before comming up on the docks. There was only a couple guards patrolling but even one guard could sound the alarm. So after a moment I flew down to a nearby farm and changed back before starting up the hill. When I got to the front gate a guard that had obsivally been sleeping snapped to attention and drew his sword.
"Halt what business do you have at this hour?"
He was alone so after a moment I used my powers.
"Open the door and let me pass" for a moment I thought it didn't work. Then he sheaved his sword and blankly nodded before opening the door. Once inside the city I ran full speed for the inn. As I walked toward I realized that Toph had failed to tell me exactly who I was meeting or what they looked liked.
As I began to panic something in the far end of the room caught my eye. It was a man with dark skin and long hair with arms covered in tattos and a dark moustache. But what really caught my eye was the small stone he was spinning in his palm. He looked up to see me and motioned for me to follow him upstairs.
He led me to his room where upon clossing the door he started speaking.
"Names Ghazan and Toph sent word you'll need my help."
"Yes did she tell you why?"
"Nope and I didn't ask, I owed her a favor she called it in and said I'd be sticking it to the equalists nothing more to say."
With every moment I could see just what Toph meant by intense. He was squeezing his fists and had a deranged look in his eyes. But I was desprate so beggars couldn't be choosers.
"We'll be breaking into the dungeon and freeing a prisoner. Also she'll probably be under heavy guard so be prepared for that. Also we only have untill tommrow before this city becomes a battefield."
Normally after telling someone this they'd look worried but he actually smiled and cracked his knuckles.
"Great I have an old friend in the dungeon so I'll kill two birds with one stone. Now Toph's plan called for a distraction which I'm sure she found someone to do. My part is to take out the guards and then cause as much chaos as I can so you can rescue your girl."
"Yeah but do you think you can actually take on that many guards?"
"Oh don't worry causing chaos and tearing down people in power is what the people of the red lotus do best."
