Hello my Darlings. I know it has been a bit since this has gotten an update. I know many of you have concerns about her legs, memories, and how Olitz will find their way back. I know you hate the angst, but TRUST me it will be worth it. This chapter was an emotional one for me to write and edit. So enjoy and leave me your "Dreams" at the end.

Chapter 29: "Say You'll Wait for Me?"

"Not A Mistress…"

Fitz, Olivia and Meredith looked over at Dr. Cristina Yang, staring wide-eyed at everyone in the room. Fitz got off the bed, and sat next to Olivia. He put his hand out for her to hold, but she nodded NO because Dr. Yang was still in the room. Without warning, Cristina pulled Meredith out, leaving Fitz and Olivia wondering what was happening.

Fitz went out to Tom and asked him to make sure that Dr. Yang did not inform anyone that he was in the hospital. By the time Tom found both Meredith and Cristina, they were in a supply closet already talking.

"Meredith Grey you tell me what the hell the President of the United States is doing here right flipping now," Cristina screamed.

"Cristina I can't," Meredith told her. "It's not that I don't want to tell you Cristina but I can't."

"Come one Mer. I am your person. You have to give me something. This ain't right. Why is HE here with her? That woman in there is NOT his wife. So give Mer," Cristina folded her arms.

"Cristina I am sorry but I really can't tell you anything. I wish I could but I can't. It's not my place too. If you want to know anything about why President Grant is here, you'll have to ask him yourself," she challenged.

Thinking she had won, she watched Cristina lean against the supplies and then begin to look for something. Then before Meredith could say anything else to her, she was out past her. "Cristina," she hollered.

Tom saw her coming but would not let her into the room with Olivia or Fitz. She had fallen back to sleep and Fitz was sitting up on the other bed, reading something Cyrus had left for him the night before. Their pinky fingers were intertwined and Fitz refused to leave her side. They had still not finished talking, but shortly after the doctors left, Olivia fell back to sleep.

Fitz heard Dr. Yang trying to get past Tom outside Olivia's door and he knew she was not going to be able to get past him, without Tom taking her down. The other agents heard her complaining and started to make a perimeter around them.

Dr. Grey came up behind her and pleaded, "Come on Cristina, you know I can tell you anything unless they're okay it. Please stand down before you create a bigger scene."

"Not unless you tell me what the hell is going on Mer," Cristina voiced in frustration. Just then Dr. Hunt came down the hallway, because he heard Cristina all the way down the hall.

"Cristina, you need to stop this," he said, pulling her away from Tom and the other agents.

"Not till you tell me what the hell is going on Owen. I know you are the Chief of Surgery, and can only tell me certain things. But I walked in on the President of the United States in our hospital. I did not know that he was going to be in Seattle. So what the HELL is going on," she scofted.

Fitz could hear her, and decided to call Dr. Grey into the room. By now Dr. Shepard was walking down the hall, because his wife phoned him and told him what was going on with Dr. Yang. If the scene outside Olivia's room was not stopped, someone would surely find out that Fitz was there. He was not ready for that to happen yet. It could not happen.

Fitz told them both to allow Dr. Yang to come into the room. Olivia had woken back up and she gave the okay. She knew the situation had to be "fixed" fast. If they did not tell Dr. Yang something, the situation would be worse. Dr. Grey and Shepard pulled her into the room with Dr. Hunt.

Dr. Grey looked at her and said, "Whatever you are about to hear Cristina you CANNOT tell a soul. Do you understand me?"

"I get Mer, national security and shit," she mocked at her person.

"Cristina," Owen called her name next. "We have to be sure you will not tell anyone that President Grant is here with someone," Owen almost said but Cristina stopped him.

"With someone that is not his wife," she then looked at Fitz who was dumbfounded by this small doctor who reminded him of Olivia. She was not afraid of anything and that included him and the agents in the hallway. She then turned to Fitz and asked, "So Mr. President why are you here?"

Fitz smiled and said, "And you are?" This made Olivia laugh on the bed. It surprised Fitz and he gave her a strange look.

"You said that to me the day we met? Same voice and everything. Even the way you are standing," she looked up at him.

He reached down and placed his fingers under her chin. "Yes I did." He almost bent down to kiss her, but Derek made a sound to stop him. Fitz then turned back to Cristina. He walked up to her, flashed his prize winning smile and asked, "Dr. Cristina Yang I am guessing. Pleasure to meet you."

Cristina just looked at him. "Nice to meet you too Sir." She looked at Olivia. "And this is?"

Olivia answered, "Dr. Yang I am Olivia Pope. I am the patient Dr. Grey and Shepard did their tumor shrinking surgery on from DC. The President and I are just...,"

But before Olivia could finish, "Miss Pope the President and you are NOT just friends. I saw how you both were when I first came into the room. I see how he is looking at you when he thinks I am not watching."

"And how is that," Fitz challenged her.

"Well you are either ready to jump her bones," Cristina blurted out.

"CRISTINA," Meredith screamed. "You can't stay jump her bones to the President."

"Why the hell not," she shot back. Then she looked back to Fitz. "Or like I said earlier, she is your McMis…"

"If I were you doctor I would not finished that word," Olivia spoke up shocking Fitz. "I am not his MISTRESS. Fitz, myself and EVERYONE in this room knows better. If you want to continue to call me that, I'll see that the agents band you from this floor, and away from Dr. Grey and Shepard until I leave. Are we understood?"

"Miss Pope I just thought," Cristina tried to backtrack.

"You thought what. Because I am black, that I am his mistress. I never have been and never will be," making Fitz even more proud to love her. "Fitz and I are more than that to each other. We always have been and that will never change."

"Livy," he muttered. He grabbed her hand. He knelt down and kissed her forehead. She reached up and cupped his face. "I. Love. You."

"I know," she told him back, and placed her other hand on his face. "But you were reckless to come here and you know it."

"It's like you always say, 'Consider it handled.' And when have I ever listened to you lately," Fitz grinned.

"When more of my memories come back, I'll let you know." She chastised Fitz, making him laugh.

Cristina looked on, in complete awe for a moment, unable to say a word. She looked over at Meredith, Derek and then Owen realizing why Fitz was there. Cristina then saw that Fitz was not wearing his wedding ring. Fitz saw that she noticed and gave her a look, making sure she did not bring it up.

Cristina cleared her throat, and getting everyone's attention in the room. "You love her. Like head of over heels, sharing the last piece of cheesecake, take Air Force One across the country and land in a secret location; LOVE HER."

Fitz laughed. "Yes."

Cristina looked at Meredith and Derek. "Shit, he's her McDreamy."

"Oh god not the President McDreamy shit again," Fitz groaned out, slumping in a chair, embarrassed to high heaven. Olivia giggled, really enjoying seeing Fitz flustered.

Cristina then nudged Derek , "And I thought Dr. McDreamy was the only romantic left in the world."

Derek looked at Cristina and groaned, "Nope. It appears that Fitz out dues me in that department. Right?"

Fitz smiled and shrugged his shoulders. Then with Fitz and Olivia's permission, Derek and Meredith told Cristina about Olivia's surgery and why Fitz was there. Cristina looked on, and didn't respond. She asked Olivia questions. Olivia told her what she could remember about her and Fitz.

When Cristina found out that Fitz initially fired her, she bellowed, "Wow that was a bonehead move on your part," making Fitz lift his eyebrows towards her.

"I don't think I've been called a bonehead in a while." Fitz shook his head.

"I've called you worse, Mr. President," Olivia voiced in a lower tone, making Fitz flip is head towards her, in amazement. The way she said Mr. President, made him hope that she had forgiven him and was going to give him another chance.

Cyrus then entered the room and asked what was going on. Everyone gave him the information on what was happening, including Dr. Yang coming in. Fitz finished telling Cristina about him and Olivia. Once he stopped talking she assured everyone that she would not say anything, and hoped to see him again before he left.

She told Meredith she would see her later. Meredith walked her to the door and reminded her that some of their other close friends would probably love to meet "President McDreamy." Meredith told her that she would see what she could do and would see her later. Cristina then left to go on her rounds, skipping down the hall. Meredith went back into Olivia's room so they could finally do her morning exam.

Talk to me…24 hours later

Once the doctors left her room, Fitz and her team, once they arrived, kept her company. Cyrus kept checking on things at the White House, from time to time to keep Fitz informed. By the next day, once Olivia seemed to be talking more to everyone even him, Fitz decided it was time to let Olivia know things. He knew she was beyond tired and probably wanted to go back to sleep from the constant visits from the doctors but he was leaving later on, and THIS had to be done.

He quickly went and changed in her bathroom into a pair of dark jeans, and purple collared shirt. When he emerged from the bathroom, he saw Olivia's eyes watch him briefly before turning away. He knew purple was her favorite color on him, and he wore it to see if she remembered.

"Nice shirt," she finally said to him.

"It's purple," he leaned against the wall away from her.

"I remember my colors Fitz. I gave you that one," she said.

He began to walk closer to her. He looked down at the bed, and she decided to let him sit in front of her. "You remember?"

"A little. I know that I gave it to you, because I remember buying it. But when I did, no," sounding defeated.

"It was after our first night we spent together. You teased me the whole next week that I wore to much blue. So to give me some other colors in my wardrobe, you went out and bought this for me. I wore it on the campaign trail when Mellie wasn't around. She did ask about it, and I told her that I found it in the back of my closet. I also told her that adding more color to my wardrobe would make me more appealing to the female voters which she loved," he explained.

"Oh," she said looking away. "Speaking of Mellie."

"Liv I don't want to talk about Mellie. I want to talk about us," he took her hands but she pulled them out of his grasp. He weakly let her go, even though he didn't want to. "Don't pull away from me. Not now."

"Fitz we can't be together right now you know that. I don't know how to trust you anymore," she told him. "I am afraid to get hurt again."

"I am not going to hurt you Livy. In doing so, I am hurting myself. I need you to trust that I love you and I want to be with you forever," he reached for her hands again. But she crossed her arms on her chest.

"Fitz you're married," she sneered. "You can't have me and a wife," and that was when he showed her his left hand. Fitz gave her the wickedest grin she had ever seen, and nodded no. "WHAT DID YOU DO!"

"Here let me show you," Fitz told her placing an envelope on her lap.

"Fitz I don't have time to play twenty questions with you," she sneered. "Did you lose your wedding ring or something?"

"Just open the damn envelope Olivia," he boomed his voice in a harsher tone, letting her know she best listen.

"Fine," and she haphazardly pealed it open. She took out the paper and unfolded it. When she read it, she screamed at him, "ARE YOU OUT OF YOU FUCKING MIND?"

"Nope."

"YOU DIVORCED YOUR PREGNANT WIFE," she said without missing a beat.

"Yes," he stately calmly, getting closer to her on the bed. "She will be my EX wife in about a month or so."

"WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU DO THAT FOR!" She was furious with him. Why didn't he warn her? Give her some idea that this was what he was up to. She could not believe he could be so reckless with his life, the Presidency, to do this.

He moved closer to her in order to touch her face. "To prove to you and to the world that I am a man desperately in love with a woman who is NOT my wife. That once my divorce goes through and I announce to the world that I am a free man, I am going to marry you Livy."

"Are you out of your damn mind? Why?" She was able to make herself say.

"Because I am finally proving it to you that you are the woman I want to spend the rest of my days with. I don't care that you may not walk again. Like I told you before, you walking or not, is non-factor for me. None of your issues matter to me. All that matters is that WE are together," he cupped her face.

"The press will crucify you," she murmured. "I am not worth losing your Presidency over. I know I don't remember all of us Fitz, but I do know that. I FEEL that. You should have warned me before you went and did this. I told you I let you go. When I said this, I did not mean to go and divorce your pregnant wife."

"I worked something out with Mellie concerning the baby. Don't you worry about that please. I fixed things, and now I will handle things for both of us. All that matters is that we are together," he moved his head into kiss her.

"No," she pushed him away.

"No? What do you mean NO?"

"I can't let you give all that up for me. I won't let you give all that up for me. I am not the person I used to be," she began to cry.

"Livy," he moved to kiss her again, but she placed her hands in front of her to stop him. "You are NOT PUSHING me away. I won't let you GET RID of me now. I am FREE to be with you openly. I don't care what anyone thinks. I love you. Why the HELL won't you let me," now he was getting frustrated. They were beginning to go in circles.

"Let you," she raiseed her voice. "Let you. Fitz I LET YOU GO, so you wouldn't have to take care of me anymore. I can't walk. I may never be able to walk. I probably will never get all of my memories back. I am not the woman you fell in love with on the campaign trail anymore. Why can't you see that? You need to go."

She moved away from him on the bed, almost hurting herself in the process. She winced in pain, as she felt the back brace constrict, keeping her in place. Fitz saw her in pain and immediately got closer. He wanted to rub her back but couldn't because of the surgical site.

He began to wrap his arm around her, but she pressed herself into the bed so he couldn't hold her. "Stop fighting me Olivia. Stop fighting US."

She began to lose control of her feelings. "I want you to leave. Leave me alone."

"Never going to happen," he told her forcibly. He tried to get her to look into his eyes but she yanked her face away from him.

"Go away dammit. I told you not to do this Fitz. You need Mellie to keep the White House. I let you go so you could be great. Go home," she whimpered.

"I am not leaving here until I have to. So you can try to make me leave but I refuse," Fitz fired back without missing a beat.

"Then I'll tell the doctors to ban you from this room."

"I am still not leaving you. You have no say in what happens to me, and I'll be damned if I am going to let you ruin us now. I am sorry I didn't warn you about the divorce but I knew you would try to talk me out of it. I not only divorced her for us, I did it for me. I needed to be free of Mellie. I had to be free of her," he admitted.

"You need to be free of me. I bring you down Fitz. I ruin everything and everyone that is around me since getting sick and being stuck in that darn wheelchair. I am your weakness, not your strength. Why can't you see that," she cried. She could not look at him. "I am a liability. I can't do that to you anymore. You can't stay President with me by your side."

Fitz got up and propelled himself over her on the bed, to the other side that she was facing. She had never seen him move that way before, and if she wasn't so pissed at him, would have teased him about it. He saw her raise her eyes, and drop her mouth open when he landed on the other side.

"Olivia listen to me," he voiced to her.

"No YOU LISTEN TO ME. I let you go. I didn't want you to come here Fitz. I knew if you did we would be fighting again. I LET YOU GO. I did it for me. I can't be the woman who brings you down and ruins your life," she told him crying. The tears were pouring down her face and she could no longer stop them.

"Liv," he reached for her but she swatted his hands away before he could touch her. "GET OVER ME FITZ. GO AWAY."

"NO DAMMIT!" He finally screamed back at her. "I LOVE YOU. I AM NOT GOING ANYWHERE UNLESS YOU ARE BY MY SIDE. I AM NEVER GOING TO BE OVER YOU."

"I can't let you sacrifice yourself for me like this. I am not worth it. Go to Mellie and tell her you changed your mind. You need Mellie by your side," she made herself say. He moved closer to her, but to his surprise she pushed him away. The force in which she moved him way, shocked him.

"I ABSOLUTELY do not need Mellie by my side. I NEED YOU by my side and it is going to stay that way. So get it in your pretty little fixer brain, Olivia. I will be divorced in a month's time. Once I am a free man, and you can travel, YOU WILL be moving into the WHITE HOUSE with me." He then stood above her.

"I am not," she tried to say but he interrupted her again.

/

"Say You'll _ Me…"

"I am not finished. You will listen to me now. After you move into the White House with me, you and I are GETTING married. I don't care if you're memories come back or not. I could give to shits if you can walk. YOU and I will be getting hitched," Fitz boomed.

Olivia's mouthed dropped open. "We cannot…,"

"Yes we can, and we will get married. Cyrus told me to give you the moon. He told me to give you anything you want. I am going to give you the life you've always wanted. I am going to give you the moon, the stars, and everything in between. I don't care if you want me to or not, this is going to happen. Fight me all you want but I am not going anywhere. I AM DONE," Fitz told her.

"Fitz," she tried to interject but he stopped her again.

He then sat down in front her and took her face in her hands. He rubbed his fingers over her lips tenderly to relax her. Her breathed hitched immediately feeling his caresses. He bent down and kissed her. The kiss was sweet and open mouthed, making her melt into the bed.

"I let you go," she groaned out before he kissed her again.

"No you didn't."

"You're still married," she pointed out.

"My divorce is final in 4 weeks or less," he moved to kiss her a second time. She placed her fingers on his lips to stop him.

"She going to have your baby. The press will go after you," she pointed out.

"No they won't," he softly replied. She finally got him to move away. "I don't care how much you tell me you don't want us to be together, I know in your heart you do."

"But…,"

"Fight me all you want. I don't care if you fight me forever, but you are my endgame. I am officially out of my marriage in a month's time," he softly told her, hoping to ease her fears.

"So what am I supposed to do," she mumbled. "Let you throw your life away for someone like me. Let you marry me?"

He reached for her face again, and sweetly whispered, "This is not theoretical anymore Liv. This is real. Say you'll be with me. We love each other." He let her face go, and ran his hands down her arms, and placed them behind her back. Fitz knew she was not in any pain. "We belong together."

"I can't," she cried. "You'll hate me."

"No I won't. There is nothing you could do that I would not be able to forgive. So say it. Say," he kissed her right side of her neck.

"You'll," he kissed the left side of her neck. He lingered the kiss feeling her whole body shake when his lips touch her again. He picked up her arms and placed them on his shoulders, needing to felt her touch.

"Marry," he kissed her lips this time. Her fingers went into his curls. She was doing her best to resist him. But his touch and kisses were weakening her resolve.

"Me," he kissed lips again, making the kiss more intense. He pulled away leaving her breathless. He raised his eyebrows and gave her the smile that made her weak in the knees. "Give US the chance to be happy together. Now that you know I am not hiding anything from you, give ME another chance. We are worth another chance."

Her lips began to tremble. "I'll think about it okay." She looked up and saw Cyrus coming to get him. They had been talking for hours and lost track of the time. It was time for him to leave her to head back to DC. "Cyrus is coming for you."

"I don't care," he moved closer so he could hold her. She tried to move her arms off his shoulders and neck but he would not allow it. "He's not going to pull me away from you right now."

"Fitz please," she turned her head away. The more she looked in his eyes, the more she would cave into him. "You need to go."

Fitz was about to respond to her but Cyrus entered the room. "Sir I hate to break this up but it's time. You need to change into the scrubs so the hospital staff won't recognize you."

"Cyrus," he tried to interject.

"I'm sorry Mr. President but I understand you don't want to leave her, but it's time. I can't delay any longer. Dr. Hunt cleared the floor for you to leave. Get changed so we can get out here. I'll wait with her until you're changed." Cyrus gently asked in the hope Fitz would not put up a fight.

"Cy I…" unable to find the words. He didn't think he could leave her. She'd be so far away from him.

"Fitz go and change. I'm right here," she leaned in and smiled finally. He nodded and went into bathroom. In less than a minute he was out in scrubs ready to go. Olivia looked at him and couldn't help but chuckle. She patted the bed this time for him to sit. He gave her a strange look and complied. She motioned for him to move closer and explained to him that nothing was going to happen to her. He did not have to worry and to go.

"I could stay another day," he was reasoning with her and Cyrus now. Cyrus almost spoke up but Olivia shushed him.

"You can't. You have a world to run," making Fitz laugh a little. He ran his fingers over her face, making her melt into his touch.

"You didn't…," he groaned in frustration.

"I told you I'd think about it," she whispered back. She pulled closer and kissed his cheek, making Fitz sigh and smile. Cyrus coughed eager to get Fitz out of there. "Now go before Cyrus has a heart attack. My team will be here and so will Tom."

"He's staying," Fitz asked. Olivia explained that he was because Tom knew Fitz would feel better if he stayed. He smiled and leaned in to kiss her goodbye. She did not allow him too but he kissed her forehead instead.

She raised his mask as he said, "I love you Livy."

"I know," she whimpered. "Go."

"Always," he said back finally moving away. "Remember we deserve another chance." She nodded but he knew that was not an answer. He stopped at the door and then turned to leave quickly. He made it to the roof, the chopper and to Air Force One in record time. Air Force One took off on schedule and he was on his way back to DC.

Two Weeks Later…Baby Teddy

The moment Fitz returned to DC he was rushed back to the White House. Luckily the Press did not find out about his unexpected trip to Seattle and he hoped it would stay that way. He saw very little of Mellie unless it had something to do with the baby. He called Olivia every day whether she wanted to hear from him or not.

The first few days after he left, she did not want to talk to him at all. Tom gave him updates on her every morning after the doctors checked her and before she went to bed for the night. Olivia knew he was calling but refused to speak to him unless she had to. Her mind was still reeling from his divorce becoming final shortly and of course his impromptu marriage proposal.

By day five, Tom finally made her talk to Fitz at least once a day. "He keeps calling Ma'am and if you don't talk to him, I know he will fly back out here."

"God dang that man," she grumbled to Tom, making him laugh. "Fine tell him he's got one phone a day and he best not piss me off."

"Yes Ma'am," and Tom relayed the message to Fitz. It made him chuckle on the other end. Even with him being 3000 miles away, he could still picture the look on her face, when Tom gave him his message. So Fitz got his wish and actually got to speak to her. She warned him "No I love you's or I miss you's Fitz. I can't deal with it right now."

"Fine," he groaned. By day 10 he wore her down to the point where she talked to him in the morning and at night before bed. Dr. Grey and Shepard were also getting daily calls from Fitz, checking on her progress. They explained that she was still in a great deal amount of pain, but they had her out of bed, and at least sitting up. That made him happy.

As the day approached for him to return to Seattle for her release, it would seem, that fate, or in this case, the baby had other plans. Mellie was not due for 3 more weeks but her water broke, the day he was supposed to leave to see Olivia. He went with her to the hospital and Theodore Wallace Grant was born. Her delivery was fine and Teddy came out with a full head of hair. Their divorce was not final for another 2-3 weeks but Mellie was happy that he stayed with her.

"Thank you for being here Fitz," she told him, after Teddy arrived. Mellie was holding him, looking at him intently.

"He's my son Mel. There is no place I rather be," he told her back, squeezing her hand.

Mellie smiled and they discussed how they would announce to the American People about the divorce and how to tell Karen and Jerry. Their older children were teenagers now, and they suspected for years that their parents were no longer happy. They arrived from boarding school to see the baby that night.

Fitz and Mellie explained that even though they were getting a divorce, both of them would still be in their lives. The kids knew this was coming and hoped once the divorce was final, maybe everyone could be happy.

Olivia was watching the news that night with Abby and they saw the Press Secretary come out and announce Teddy's birth. His name was not released at the time, but Fitz sent her a picture of him with the baby, making her smile, then cry.

Abby saw her tears. "You'll have that life with him Liv?"

"You can't be sure of that Abby. Hell I can't either. Not even Fitz with all his superpowers can guarantee me that we will have a family. What if I never walk again? Then what. Why would he want to make a baby with me if I can't even more around in the bedroom? Subjecting Fitz to a life like that is not what I want for him."

Abby knelt down in front of her. "Now you listen to me Liv. That man, President Fitzgerald Thomas Grant III loves you. And if you keep pushing him away, he will eventually walk out on you. Did you ever think how broken and alone you'll feel if he does? You breathe in sync for Christ sakes. He's risked so much to be with you. Why don't you just let him?"

"This is not a life I want for him Abby," she admitted. "I wish I did not wake up after that surgery."

"Olivia Carolyn Pope I don't ever want to hear you say again that you wished you died. That is fucking bull shit and you know it," shocking Olivia because Abby cursed. "If you would have died, none of us would be the same. Fitz would never be the same again. So cut the shit and fight to be with him."

"You know he kind of asked me to marry him before he left," Olivia told Abby not believing that Fitz kind of proposed. "Or I think he was asking me to marry him."

"Well I know you didn't say yes because I would have walked in on major make out session," making both of them laugh. "Look think about it. He loves you and you love him. You DO belong together. That I have no doubt off. He makes you happy and don't you think after all this, after everything you've gone through together, you both deserve it."

She shrugged her shoulders unable to answer her. "We'll see."

"Ah huh," Abby told her back. They then talked about her being released into Fitz's care tomorrow and her being brought to his family's estate. She would still in in the back brace for another 4 -6 weeks at least. Then after that, a different kind of brace would be fitted in order to give her more flexibility. This flexibility will help her gain her strength to walk, and hold herself up she was told by the doctors.

By the time Olivia went to bed that night, all her team was there with her. They booked a hotel for the night to be close to the hospital. Instead of Abby staying the night with her in the hospital, Huck and Quinn opted to stay instead. Both talked to the doctors, making sure everything was set for her release the following morning.

/

"Some Chic in a Wheel Chair…" (Next morning)

About 6:00 am the next morning, Olivia woke feeling someone caressing her face. She thought she was dreaming when she opened her eyes and saw Fitz leaning over her with a smile. When she finally came out of her sleepy haze, all she could do what stare.

"What," he nuzzled his face into her hand he had picked up and placed on his face.

"How did you," she mouthed unable to really speak anything because she was totally taken back at his presence.

"Air Force One took off late last night out of Andrews. They flew all night to get me here for your release. I had to be here Liv. I needed to be here," he softly spoke now picking up her other hand, placing it on his other cheek. "I missed you so much."

She squinted. "Fitz." She tried to withdraw her hands from his face but he wouldn't allow her too.

"Don't you pull away from me," he leaned in and lowered his voice. He dropped his hands over hers and perched himself above her, so he could stare her down. She tried to lower herself on the bed to get away from him but he would not allow it. He leaned down to meet her eyes and said, "I am here so wrap your head around it woman. I am not going away."

She swallowed quickly and felt her breath hitch. Her pulse increased as images of her pacing in the rose garden flooded her mind. Without thinking she told him, "I feel a little Sally Hemmings; Thomas Jefferson about this."

"What?"

Then her eyes got huge. She grabbed his face and stared at him. Her hands began to shake, as she remembered more. "I smile at her and take off my clothes for you."

"Livy! This is about Mellie," he shot back, hoping she would realize what she was saying. Then without warning, she pulled her hands back. "Livy!"

She felt her eyes begin to well up with her tears. "Go away."

"Livy no. You are starting to remember that night in the Rose Garden. I told you that I was in love with you that night. Come on you can remember. You said our words to me the day of your surgery. I was up in the gallery and you saw me before you went under. Come on, the memory is there. All you have to do go into your mind and pull it out," he reached for her and she pulled back.

"I don't know what you're talking about. I can't. This hurts too much. I don't want to remember. Go back to DC; to Mellie and the new baby. They need you more than I do. I'll be fine with my team," as she turned away from him.

Shocking her, Fitz grabs her by her forearms, and makes her look at him. "What don't you get, I can't breathe without you. I can't sleep without you. Without you I am nothing. I am NOT leaving you, because if I walk away now, it will kill us both. I love you Olivia so you best buck up and get the FUCK over it."

She opened her mouth to say something but no words came out. She wanted to throw her arms around him and tell him to never let her go. But she couldn't. Instead she nodded her head, and looked down. Fitz started to talk to her, when the doctors came in with her discharge paperwork. She signed on the dotted line, and that was it.

Before Dr. Grey and Dr. Shepard let her leave, they asked a favor of Fitz. He chuckled and said it wouldn't be a problem. They left her room and while he waited for them to return, Fitz picked Olivia up of the bed, and helped her get dressed. About ten minutes later he heard Dr. Grey and Dr. Shepard outside her room talking.

Dr. Shepard knocked and Fitz ran and hid behind the door. Olivia looked at him like he was crazy. Then she open and Dr. Grey and Shepard came back inside her room with more doctors; their friends to be exact.

Dr. Jackson Avery said, "I don't get what is so special about Miss Pope that we had to sign a non-disclosure agreement."

April Kepner said to Derek, "I thought we weren't allowed in here. Why can we now?"

Arizona Robbins muttered, "Derek, why are we in here? Is there a baby for me to examine before she's discharged?"

Callie Torres blurted out to Meredith, "Mer she doesn't need a consult for her legs does she? When it comes time for her to walk, I can put her contact with the guy to have her measured properly for braces for her legs."

Alex Karev whispered to Dr. Grey, "Mer what's the deal whop. It's just some chick in a wheel chair."

"Trust me Doctor she is not some JUST chic in a wheel chair," Fitz announced making every single doctor in the room turn around and freak out.

"Holy Shit that's President Grant," April Kepner screamed.

"What the hell Mer?" Alex said next.

Fitz then walked up to tall of them shaking their hands. When he got to Alex he told him, "Trust me Livy is not some chic in a wheel chair Doctor Karev. She's not that to me at least."

Fitz then knelt before Olivia and kissed her in front of everyone. "He's her McDreamy," Callie Torres nudged Derek making him blush.

Fitz stood up and grumbled, "Yes I am her….," unable to finish the sentence he felt his cheeks heat up even more. Olivia pinched him, which made him say, "McDreamy."

One by one the doctors got a few minutes to talk to Fitz, before Cyrus arrived to help get them out of the hospital. Fitz thanked everyone, especially Dr. Grey and Shepard. They would be seeing Olivia for follow up appointments in the weeks to come. All the doctors made sure the coast was clear, and Derek pushed her down the hallway.

Once they were gone, Meredith was yanked back into Olivia's old room and was bombarded with questions. She told them only what Fitz and Olivia allowed her too. They could not believe they met President Grant, and it made their year.

Olympia Grant Estate…

When Olivia finally made it to the motorcade, she was surprised that no one saw them. Fitz had arranged it with the hospital to get her out safely with no one around but needed staff and Secret Service. Once Dr. Shepard had her safely in the car, he reminded her of her appointments, and therapy sessions. She and Fitz thanked him and then Fitz got inside with her.

He sat next to her, and once the door was shut and they drove off with unmarked cars and an escort. He placed his arm behind her, hoping she would come willingly into his arms. He had not been able to hold her in over two weeks, and it was taking its toll physically and emotionally on him.

She felt his gaze, and shifted. He raised his eyes and gently asked, "Leaning on me might be better Liv?"

"You know I am not supposed to because of my brace," she mumbled.

"The doctors said I can't hold you in bed. They did not say anything about the car. You are sitting up and fine. I am not going to hurt you. Now get your ass over here, before I fix this myself," he grumbled. She bit her lip, fighting a smile. Olivia loved it when he took charge of a situation, and now was no different.

Without saying a word, she pushed herself up and next to Fitz's body. He wrapped his arm around her. Once his arm, made it securely around her body, she sighed. She had missed him more than anything, and she knew HE knew it. Fitz was watching, hoping she would lay on his chest.

He whispered, "Please God let her let me hold her? I need this."

She bit her lip and reached behind him. Fitz felt her move, and once her hand wrapped around his back, she placed the other one around his torso. Once her head went over his heart, it immediately calmed, as did hers. Fitz let out a breath and wrapped around her body. Nothing was separating them until they made it to his family's estate.

He began to rub her body, and breathe in her scent. "God you smell good."

He heard her stifle back a laugh, knowing he was weakening her wall she put up. "You're not so bad yourself Mr. President," she lowered her voice, saying his title.

"Hmmm," he told her.

"Say it again," he huskily asked.

"Mr. President," and she looked up at him. His eyes darkened and he raised one of his hands and lifted it to place it under her chin. She ran her hand up and down his chest feeling all his muscles under his shirt.

"I missed you," he murmured in the sweetest voice, hoping she would not turn him away. "I need you in my life Liv."

He began to lower his head to kiss her and their lips almost touched when she pulled away and snuggled into his chest. He wanted to kiss her, but the kiss he ached for, was one filled with passion. The passion she brought out of him, never lessened ever after all this time. It only grew. After not being together physically so long, he ached for her.

She swallowed quickly and made herself say, "In case I don't tell you, thank you Fitz. For everything. And you're right," she looked at him. His furrowed his eyes, and listened intently.

"Right?"

She closed her eyes and touched his face. "I do need you."

"Livy," his heart was pounding.

"But right now I can't give you what you want. I need time. Just know that I need you. Is that enough?" For her to admit this was a huge step. Fitz knew it and smiled sweetly.

He leaned in and before she could stop him, he kissed her. It was soft, sweet, like they kissed this way every day of their lives. "It's enough for now. But…" his voice was stern, low, filled with conviction. "When it's time, you will be Mrs. Grant."

"I can'…," she tried to say.

"Don't say it Livy. You can and YOU WILL be my wife. So get that big idea in those natural curls of yours and get over it. It's happening so wrap your fixer brain around it," and then he winked.

"Urgh," he heard her groan in frustration.

"I won't let you get away."

"No shit Sherlock," she sarcastically told him, making him laugh. The rest of the ride he told her about his family's estate and she listened until falling asleep.

Once the car stopped, Olivia woke up seeing where they were. Fitz helped her sit up and her eyes widened at seeing her team already coming down the front steps to greet them. Tom opened the doors and Fitz got out first. When Olivia was ready to come out, he picked her up and carried her from the car to the house.

She looked around and saw the high evergreen trees, blue skies, and in the distance a clearing. He stopped so she could look and she could see the Space Needle and downtown Seattle. She nodded, showing she'd seen enough and he brought her inside. The house had marble floors, high perched ceilings made of oak, and custom made drapes and window coverings.

Fitz gave her the rest of the tour and once her chair was brought in, he placed her down so she could look around on her own. She found a heated, sunroom and went inside. He knew she wanted to be alone, so he let her be. He kissed her head, and went to talk to her team.

By the time Olivia emerged, they were talking about who was going to be staying with her for the next 4-6 weeks. She knew she would be out here for a while, and figured Fitz didn't want her to be alone. The therapists would be coming to the estate, thanks to Dr. Shepard's careful planning and Fitz made sure she had everything she needed to get well.

She then heard them all starting to argue on what she could do. "I don't want her doing anything," Fitz pointed out. "Her therapy is enough."

"No it's not. You heard the doctors Fitz. She needs to get well, but not sit in that chair all day," Harrison said first.

"Well she's not going to push herself either. I won't allow it," Fitz shot back in anger.

"You are not in charge of me Fitz. I can take care of myself," she finally spoke up after she heard enough.

They all turned around. "Liv we meant no disrespect but you need to get better and rest," Fitz explained.

"Is that so? Then why are you all fighting about who gets to stay behind with me. Who gets to do this, and that for me? I am big girl and can do things myself." This was what she didn't want, people taking care of her.

"Livy," Fitz went to her and knelt down. "I just don't want you to get hurt."

"I am NOT going to get hurt," and she pushed away from him. "Now we are going to draw straws. The shortest one stays with me first." She looked at Fitz. "You are not drawing one. You have a country to run. Babysitting me is not part of your schedule," she glared at him.

"But," he attempted to interject but she told him to be quiet.

She asked Abby to get what she needed and everyone pulled one out except for Fitz. He was not happy, but made sure to talk to Cyrus to clear as much time as he could to be with her. Once the schedule for the weeks was made, they had dinner, and she asked Quinn to help her get to bed.

Fitz showed them down the hall to where she was sleeping. It was the master bedroom and when she saw his stuff as well she almost protested. He pointed and saw a pull out bed, knowing that he had to be in the same room, but not in bed with her. Fitz did not like it but remembered what the doctors told him.

Quinn helped her change, and once she got into bed, everyone said goodnight. Huck was staying with her first when everyone except Fitz was going back to DC tomorrow. Fitz showed them all to their rooms and by the time he got back to Olivia, she had fallen asleep.

He leaned down, kissed her goodnight, and sat in the chair by the bed watching her. The thought of not holding her in his arms all night was too painful, but he knew there was no other way. It had to be this way. Gradually she was allowing him back into her heart, and he would make sure it happened even if it destroyed him in the process.

"I love you Livy," he whispered not sure how the next 4-6 weeks would go for him and Olivia. He was terrified with her being across the country that she would push him further away. The time apart would be difficult, but when he went and picked her up he would be free. He kept thought in his mind and went off to sleep.

(Six Weeks later)

In the six weeks that Olivia had been discharged from the hospital Fitz had made sure that he not only talked to her therapists every day, but anyone that came into contact with her. He got daily updates on her progress and from what he had found out, her back brace had been removed finally.

The more flexible brace had been placed on her back, so she was more mobile. She was struggling in physical therapy learning to stand up, and that bothered her the most. Olivia was a gladiator, and it troubled her that she could not stand up. She voiced her concerns to her therapist but since she had not been in her sessions for very long, it was expected.

Olivia was told to be patient and when she got home, things may improve. She told herself maybe that was the case, but then Fitz would be close by, hovering. Despite her need to be around him, his constant presence would mess her mind. It would cause her to lose focus on her task, which foremost was walking again.

Fitz had told her countless time that he did not care about her legs. If she never got them back, he would carry her around in his arms, till his last breath. But she did not want that for them, or him. He deserved better. She had forgiven him for not telling her about Amanda, but in her heart trusting him again, was difficult.

He came out to see her three weeks ago, telling her in person that he was a free man. He was divorced and could be with her openly now. Her team would stand by them, and he even gathered support on his divorce from his closest advisors in the West Wing. People close to the first family knew they were not happy, so when this story broke, it would not come as a surprise.

Fitz asked her, "Liv are you happy for us? We can be together now."

"Is that what you think? You're divorced so I can shack up with my girl on the side," she threw in his face. "You have to tell the country first. You can't parade your paralyzed mistress on the side around."

"Olivia! You know that is not how I feel," he told her. "I want you. I don't care about any of your issues."

"You will in time if you begin to resent me. You should have stayed in Washington. I am fine here by myself with my babysitters. I don't like being watched Fitz. I know they tell you everything," she sneered.

"They tell me everything because you won't talk to me. You are shutting me out. I told you DO YOUR WORSE because I am not giving up on you, on us. So tough shit," he growled. "And furthermore you best be ready to leave here with ME by your side in three weeks. As soon as the doctors clear you fly, YOU WILL come home with me to the WHITE HOUSE. Make no mistake on that Livy."

"I am not," she tried to stop his train of thought before things escalated.

Fitz got down into her face. "You ARE coming home with me. Everything has been set up and arrangements have been made for you to move into the residence. I am announcing the divorce after we return. Mellie and I are sitting down with Kimberly Mitchell a few days later. She is on board, so you best get your head out of your ass and join her."

"You cannot and WILL NOT move me into the White House. I am going home Fitz. To my apartment. It's where I belong," she crossed her arms and tried to wheel away from him.

Before she could get away, he got in front of her and stopped her. He placed his hands on her wheels and would not allow to move at all. "Let me go."

"No. Never," he voiced with so much possession, it actually frightened and turned her on. She tried to push him away but he moved out of her away. She saw the harshness in his eyes, and new she was screwed either way.

She crossed her arms in frustration. "You can't make me go."

He got into her face and pulled her into his body. Their noses were an inch apart. "You want to make a bet on that one. If you want a war Livy than you'll get one. But trust me, my LOVE, I will win. You don't want to cross me. So pack your crap because you are White House bound with me and that is final. I refuse to accept your reasons to keep us apart any longer."

"I am not going Fitz," she sarcastically voiced filled with distain.

"Olivia," he picked her up and held her up in her air. "Come the hell and high water you are going to get on that plane with me." He placed her back down in her chair, and then kissed her head.

He got up and she harshly told him, "I hate you."

Fitz smiled, "Liar. But just in case I hate you too."

Now three more weeks had passed and Fitz was back with the Secret Service to take her back to DC. The doctors cleared her to fly, and she would have to be seen for another follow up appointment in 6-8 weeks. As time passed, and she gained her strength back, her visits from the doctors would be less frequent. One she was cancer free for five years, she would have no worries.

Fitz walked into his family's estate and asked Tom and Abby where she had gone. Tom said that she was out at the clearing, looking out into the valley.

"Tom you should have not let her go on her own," Fitz scolded him, and hurried off.

"Sir, Mitch is with her, standing by," Tom told Fitz as he ran out the door. "He's kept his distance but I am sure Miss Pope knows he's there."

Without missing a beat, Fitz ran out the door and stopped when he saw her a small puppy around her. "Mitch, who's dog is that?"

"I don't know Sir. I think it's a stray. No tags. Miss Pope has seen him coming in the yard since you left the last time. He's has no tags and has taken a liking to her. He only comes around when he knows she's outside. He's been really cheering her up."

"Does he belong to anyone?"

"No Sir. I asked around and I was told no. He's a golden retriever too," and they both looked up and saw Olivia playing carefree with the puppy. He was not very old and it was the happiest he'd seen her. He had not heard her laugh with abandonment since her first surgery.

Fitz finally walked in her direction and the puppy jumped in her lap. "Hi."

"Hi," she looked up and kept petting the puppy who was now licking her face.

"He seems to have stolen you away from me," he teased.

"It would seem so. He listens to me, and when the agents go to bed, I let him inside the house so he can sleep with me," she chastised.

"So I have been replaced," he bent down so she would look at him finally. He reached up and pet the puppy who seemed to like Fitz.

"Nah. He hogs the bed. But he at least listens to me," she met his blue eyes for a second and looked back down at the dog. It licked her face and made her giggle.

"I miss your laugh. It's nice to hear," Fitz reached up and moved the stray hairs from her face. She smiled and he took her hand in his own. "You ready to go home with me."

"As long as Quincy comes too," she bit her lip. "No one owns him Fitz, I…,"

"Quincy. I like it. Yes he can come home. I come to bring my future wife home and I end up with a puppy too. I guess good things come in pairs," he leaned over to attempt to kiss her. Before he reached her lips Quincy reached up and licked him instead. "At least he's a good kisser."

She gave him a nasty look and shook her head in disagreement at him. "Come one let's go, but I am not sleeping I the same bed with you Mister."

"We'll see about that," and he pushed both of them back into the house and the helicopter that he arrived in. It lifted them of the ground and they arrived at McChord Air Force Base a short time later. Fitz got Olivia and the Quincy settled, while Abby who was the last to spend time with her, made sure OPA was running smoothly.

When Air Force One touched down on Andrews Air Force Base, it didn't take long for them to be escorted to Marine One. The big green chopper took off with a wide-eyed Abby and Quincy in tow. The agents seem to like the dog and Fitz thought the kids would like him also.

It touched down on the White House grounds and Fitz saw the Press outside. "Tom what's going on?"

"They heard you went out West for something. Mr. Beene said you had a family emergency at your family's estate you had to resolve. He told the press you had to handle it personally."

"Okay," Fitz said to Tom. "But what about Livy?"

"They know I was ill. You just tell them I am not well enough to walk yet. The medicine makes me dizzy," Olivia said in fixer mode. "Also I was with you, to advise you on the situation out West."

Fitz nodded and the doors opened. The Agents brought her chair out and Tom carried her out for Fitz. Fitz did not like it, but he obviously could not be the one to carry her right now. Quincy was placed in her lap and Abby wheeled her behind Fitz as they began to walk towards the press.

Fitz heard questions but only waved and told the reporters no questions at this present time. He was almost inside with Abby and Olivia when he heard, "Mr. President is it true that you and the First Lady are now divorced."

He stopped in his tracks, turns around and gazes at Olivia. Olivia raises her eyes, takes one look at Abby grinning. "Get everyone here. It's all cylinders Abby. Let's go."

TBC…(unless my memory fails me. JK)

So I am going to leave you in THAT place. A lot happened. Fitz and Olivia argued through much of this update. But as you can tell he is not backing down and thank god. I love a strong and sexy POTUS. He's NOT going to let her get away.

Highlight of this chapter...HE IS DIVORCED. We got our PRESIDENTIAL DIVORCE. Be praised! And he sort of proposed. He's planning on marry her. We'll see how that goes. (Wickedly grins.)

He left her no choice but to come home with him, along with her new "friend" Quincy. If you do not know who "Quincy" is, then read "Christmas In Vermont." I won't say anything else.

In terms of her legs, and memories, you will just have to wait it out and see what I come up with for those two things. Trust me, it's something you won't want to miss out on. ;-)

So leave me your LONG, DRAWN out dreams (review) because LORD knows I wrote SO MUCH in this update, I think it's only fair. Yes?

Thank you for reading and sticking with this story this long.

Peace, Luv and Pumpkins…
