Epilogue.

September 2nd, 11:10 am.

Session One.

The woman shuffled her papers and slid them over to the side of her desk. In her desk mirror, she quickly applied some more lipstick, tucked some hair behind her ear and then sighed. She was about to meet her new patient. She'd been looking forward to this for two weeks. She'd been watching this case for months now and finally they had the patient in custody. And she was the doctor.

There was a soft knock and she quickly said, "Yes, come on in." The door opened slowly and the two burly orderlies shuffled in, the patient between them, tied up in a straight jacket with cuffed ankles. She'd seen patients many times in this same get-up.

Only the most violent, unstable patients were put in binds this extent. This was the first time her patient had been out of Solitary confinement.

The patient's eyes flitted across the room curiously, taking in every little detail of the office space before scrutinizingly landing on the doctor, looking her up and down before their eyes met and locked together. The eye contact did not break until the patient was sitting, locked to the floor and the orderlies had both left, retreating to their posts outside. The doctor cleared her throat before beginning. "Good morning. I'm Doctor Michelle Baker. It's very nice to meet you."

The patient turned up their nose, ignoring their doctor fully and instead looked out the window, obviously not enthused to be here. Finally, the patient sighed and rolled their head to the side, looking at Dr. Baker with pursed lips and narrowed eyes. Finally, they spoke and it was something Michelle Baker could never have guessed would escape their mouth. "This was my office, ya know."

Dr. Baker blinked. "Pardon?"

The woman nodded. "I sat right there, where you are. Asking all the stupid questions you're gonna ask me."

"I'm sorry, Harleen, I didn't realize this —"

She cut her off with a sharp bark, her voice high and accented. "It's Harley. Harley Quinn. Get it right."

The doctor sighed. "I'm sorry, Harley. I didn't realize this was your office. If the space makes you uncomfortable, we can have our sessions in another room."

Harley rolled her eyes. "It's fine. I don't care too much." She licked her lips, seemingly reminiscing.

"Well, if you don't mind, I'd like to go ahead and start today's session. I'd like to get to know you, and obviously you already know the basics, so might I just ask… How did you end up here? Where you are now?"

A slow smile lit up Harley's face and she gave her doctor her full attention now. She liked where this was going. "Well, Michelle. It all started ten months ago, in that very chair…"

The end.
