Hello, my lovely readers. This is our Hayley-Haylijah centric chapter along with many other characters and ships. On with the show…
Chapter 29: Time Flies
Dear Diary, Hayley Marshall began to write when the sound of footsteps nearing her door broke her concentration. This often happened in the past month when she was trying to write. Her friends and teammates would come over. Her father would pop his head in to see how she was doing since her mother passed away three weeks ago. It seemed like she couldn't get a minute of privacy anymore.
Her door opened and Elijah Mikaelson came in. Elijah paused in the doorway, tilting his head to the side. "Are you writing in that infernal thing?" he questioned her, pushing off one foot and striding over to her, freeing her book from its place on her knees.
"Yes and no. See, since my boyfriend read it to the whole school last year, I don't really write anything important," Hayley retorted, leaning back against the bedframe.
Elijah's eyes widened comically. "You have a boyfriend? Why didn't you tell me?" he demanded.
Hayley laughed as he tossed her diary across the room, climbing on her bed and yanking her under him. "Then I'll have to be quick."
"Isn't my dad home?" Hayley whispered while Elijah shoved his head under her tank top, stretching the fabric out completely. She'd have to toss the shirt but she didn't care. Elijah made her too happy to give a damn about a stupid tank.
"He's gone. Off on some business trip. Left a note in the kitchen. He'll be back on Monday." Elijah stopped talking, kissing her stomach and working his way up, jerking her shirt off and tossing it on top of her diary. "I don't want to talk about your father, do you?" he asked her, pausing above her.
"No." Hayley shook her head slowly with a wide grin. Elijah began to kiss her, slowing down. Since they'd made things public, they were in and out of each other's houses and could not keep their hands off each other, literally. They were yelled at every other time they went out with their friends for their over-abundance of PDA. "Why were you in my kitchen?"
"I wanted a cup of coffee. And I was looking for your dad," Elijah said, pulling her shorts off.
"Okay." Hayley looked at the ceiling, trying to think and finding it almost impossible. "Why?"
"Nothing," Elijah muttered, pressing his lips back to hers.
Hayley pushed him away. "Seriously. Why?"
Elijah sighed, sitting up and running his hand through his hair. "I'm trying to get a job. And I thought that maybe he could help."
"Why won't your dad help?" Hayley asked, sitting up and putting her arms around Elijah's neck.
"Because he knows me and all the shit I've done in the past four years does not set me up to be the most reliable candidate for a job." Elijah's head dropped downward.
"I'll talk to my dad," Hayley promised, pulling Elijah back down on top of her. They stopped talking and started moving. She wondered if he would freak out if she told him she loved him. Looking up at him, she decided to tell him some other time.
"Hayley, get that thing out of my face," Elijah moaned, attempting to shove her camera out of his face.
Hayley leaned down, kissing his cheek before settling back on her side of the bed. "Hello, everyone, this is my boyfriend, Elijah Mikaelson. He needs his beauty sleep or he becomes a terror," she told the camera, moving it an inch closer to Elijah's face. "Today, he's going to start working for my dad, as an assistant, to an assistant, but everyone starts somewhere."
"Hayley, enough," Elijah grabbed a pillow, shoving it over his face.
Hayley turned the camera around to film herself. "This is the beginning of a new chapter for me. I'm trying out making video diary entries. I have a boyfriend that I am totally head over heels in love with. And I have like a million friends! Seriously! I made a ton of friends this year with people who I couldn't stand last year. This year is turning out to be awesome!"
"I'll give you head over heels!" Elijah cried, sending the pillow flying and Hayley yelped, dropping the camera on the bed when he grabbed her ankles and turned her upside down. "I thought cheerleaders liked awkward positions," he told her while she tried to grab at him to pull herself upward.
"Blood's going to my head!" Hayley yelled.
Suddenly her door opened and her dad came in. "Oh! Sorry, honey. Breakfast is ready, and Elijah, I expect to see you in the office at 8:00." Hayley's dad gave them one last look before shutting her door.
Elijah let go of one of Hayley's legs, taking her arm and pulling her upward so she was facing him. "Do you think he hates me?" he asked her.
"No. Why?" Hayley felt confused.
"Because most men don't look fondly on the man who's sharing their daughter's bed," Elijah replied.
Hayley wrapped her arms and legs around him. "My dad wants me to be okay. Being with you, that makes me okay."
"Okay." Elijah smirked. "Want to skip your first two classes of the day?"
"Yes, please," Hayley said with a laugh when Elijah dropped them on the bed, covering her with kisses.
"Oh, yes, and I love you, too," he said, easing the camera off the bed with his foot.
"You're going to buy me a new one," Hayley warned him.
Running down the hall with her new camera, Hayley caught up with Rebekah. "Hey, Bex, what's up?"
"Elijah said to bloody well stop following everyone around with that thing!" Rebekah warned Hayley, placing a hand in front of her own face.
Marcel moved in front of the camera. "Hi, everyone. We're holding a chess championship at the end of the week. Hales, you want to tape that for your diary?"
"Sure," Hayley replied in her best, perky cheerleader voice. Marcel turned to Rebekah and Hayley turned the camera around to face her. "No," she mouthed.
"Hayley, come here!" Damon shouted, coming into focus as Hayley spun around in the middle of the football field.
"What?" Hayley asked.
Damon grinned. "We're going to start planting trees for this year's 'Mystic Falls Going Green campaign,'" he enthused. "Gather your girls. We need someone to cheer us on."
"Are you kidding? You want us to cheer you on for planting trees, Damon? Are you an environmentalist or not?" Hayley demanded, placing a hand on her hip.
Damon's lips pursed. "Yeah," he said slowly.
"Got ya!" Elena Gilbert screamed, jumping on Damon's back. "Hello Diary of a Mad Cheerleader! Want to tape me and Damon having sex?"
"No!" Hayley shook her head.
Caroline came into view with Klaus. "I put the ring on my finger. See!" Caroline yelled, showing Klaus the ring on her right hand.
"It goes on the left," Klaus complained, folding his arms over his letterman jacket.
"Not until after we get married," Caroline cried, her arms flying around as she spoke.
"Hey, Caroline, did you ever think about being a cheerleader?" Hayley asked the other girl.
Caroline's eyes looked huge. "No. Not my thing. I like my games." She tugged at her Pokemon t-shirt.
Klaus rolled his eyes. "Are you coming to the art exhibit with that thing?" he demanded, staring at Hayley like she'd killed his best friend.
"Yes, Davina's exhibiting," Hayley replied.
Klaus kicked the snow beneath his foot. "And you couldn't happen to film my art?" he inquired. "As the brother of your –"
"Sexual partner," Elena filled in.
"Friend with benefits!" Damon added.
"Boyfriend," Klaus snarled, glaring at Damon and Elena. "I would appreciate it."
"O-kay." Hayley nodded. "If it means that much to you."
"It does," Klaus replied.
The ground felt cold as Hayley knelt in front of the gravestone; turning off her camera. "Hi, Mom. I want to say that I'm doing okay." She placed a hand on the cold grey stone that marked her mother's resting place. "And we're going to championships this year. Can you believe it? Yeah. Me, too. And you remember that guy, Elijah, who was always driving me nuts? Well, we're, like, a couple now. And I love him. A lot. So, you don't have to worry about me. Because I'm okay."
Getting up, Hayley pressed her lips to her fingertips and then placed her fingertips on the gravestone. Turning, she saw Elijah, still talking to Genevieve. He always came with Hayley to talk to his friend. She thought he probably talked to Genevieve more now that she was gone than he had in the past two years.
Hayley wrapped her arms around her coat clad body and waited for Elijah to finish. This was his time with his friend. It wasn't her place to interrupt. After a long moment, he got to his feet and made his way toward her. His black clothes fit the cemetery and she had gotten used to his look; never trying to change him.
"Good talk?" Hayley asked, taking Elijah's hand.
"I think so," Elijah told her, squeezing her hand as they left.
"Hello, Hayley," Pearl Zhou answered the door to her home. She looked well.
"Hi, is Anna home?" Hayley asked her best friend's mom.
"Anna! Hayley's here!" Pearl called over her shoulder.
Anna came down with Jeremy. They both looked a little mused. "Hey!" Anna grinned, coming to the door and jerking Hayley through. "We're going to go talk routines," Anna told her mom.
"I'm going to head out," Jeremy told them.
"No, you're not!" Anna grabbed him by the hand, yanking him back up the stairs behind her.
"Anna, don't you think that talking about routines is more something that you and Hayley should be doing, alone?" Jeremy suggested, looking uncomfortable as he stood in the middle of the room.
"It's not about routines, silly," Hayley said, flopping on the bed. "We're trying to decide where we're going to tell our parents we're at on prom night."
Jeremy's eyebrows rose. "Oh," he said, stuffing his hands in his pockets. "That."
"Yeah. That!" Anna giggled, jumping on the bed beside Hayley. "So, we could say we're going to be at Liv's. Two problems: No adult supervision and Liv's going to spend the night with Ty. There'll be no one to answer the phone."
"O-kay." Hayley sighed. "We could say we're at my place. But then I won't be at my place."
"Or we could say we're at Jer's place," Anna said, looking at Jeremy.
Jeremy shook his head. "Problem is that Elena will be with Damon and Kat will be out with… I don't know who."
"What about Davina's?" Hayley wondered aloud. "See, she's not going to our prom, this year, because no one's asked her. So, she should be our alibi."
"What if Kol asks her?" Anna looked to Hayley who frowned.
"Good question. Do you think he really likes her? And they've never gone on a date. Isn't that a bit too much too quick?" Hayley looked from Anna to Jeremy.
"Don't look at me. I just quit the abstinence club to be with Anna." Jeremy held up his hands.
"This is ridiculous!" Hayley cried. "Is there anyone who is not going to our frickin' prom?"
"No idea," Anna said.
"Okay. I'll find out from Kol if he's planning on taking Davina." Hayley said, getting to her feet. "See ya guys. And don't forget condoms."
"Thanks, mom," Anna shouted after Hayley who grinned, closing the door behind her.
"Kol, are you going to invite Davina Claire to prom?" Hayley demanded during practice. Her camera sat on a table, recording their conversation, during practice. She placed her pom poms on her hips and glared up at Kol.
Kol blinked. "Moi? I hadn't thought about it yet. We have two months to go."
"Bullshit!" Hayley snapped.
"You forced me into joining this stupid squad, don't dictate to me who I can ask out," Kol snapped.
Davina came in and came over to them. "Hi!" she cried, hugging Kol. "I had a lot of fun last night. Thanks for taking me."
Hayley's eyes widened and her mouth dropped open. "What?"
"I did not take her!" Kol shouted, causing the other squad members to stare at him. Calming down, Kol looked at Davina's whose jaw had dropped. "I mean, I took her to a movie. Do not give me that look, Hayley Marshall. We know about you and your after-school activities."
Folding her arms over her chest, Hayley glared at Kol, feeling her old-self kicking in. "And what does that mean?" she growled.
Kol shook his head. "Nothing. Nothing at all. Remarkable form, Liv! Spot on! Who would like me to toss them about?" Several girls from the sophomore year held up their hands.
"Go, Timberwolves!" Hayley shouted, leading her team through the routine in the pitch black night. The searing lights above the bleachers helped them to see. Kol tossed her in the air where she twirled before Liv and Anna caught her. Davina did a back flip. Anna cartwheeled. Liv kicked the mascot but no one noticed. The crowd cheered them along. They knew her team was going to nationals.
Klaus caught the ball and scored a touchdown. "Give me a K!" Hayley shouted, forming the letter with her pom poms. "Give me an L! Give me an A. Give me a U. Give me an S! GO, KLAUS!" she shouted, helping to lift Davina and send her flying through the air. Davina's body flew through the air before Kol caught her and Davina's left arm stayed in the air while she balanced on one leg in Kol's arms before coming to rest on his shoulders.
"Timberwolves will bite you!" Anna shouted, making claws and baring her teeth while the other girls fell in behind her.
Hayley laughed, shaking her hips and waving her pom poms. "We're gonna win! We're going to take it to the end! We will defend, our territory!" she shouted, leaping over Liv and Davina "We're gonna win, again, and again because we've got an alpha leading our pack!"
"K. L. A. U. S. M. I. K. A. E. L. S. O. N!" the girls spelled out with their arms. "He's our alpha!"
When the game ended and they beat the other team by twenty points, Hayley found Elijah, standing by the bleachers. He glanced up from her camera. "Did you get it?" she asked him. He clicked a button and she waited to see the winning touchdown that his brother had performed but she saw her own beaming face on the recording. "Elijah, you were supposed to record the game, too."
Elijah smirked down at her. "I record what I like. And I could give a damn about a piece of pigskin when my beautiful girlfriend looks so scrumptious in this little skirt. Can we call this a skirt? It looks like a teeny piece of fabric. Let's see. I need to get a better inspection."
"Elijah!" Hayley cried as he placed his lips on her inner thigh. Glancing back at her friends, she grabbed his hand, running back to her car. They climbed in the backseat and he stripped off her uniform. "I'm really glad that you don't hate me anymore," she whispered, looking him in the eye while taking his pants off.
"I never hated you. I loathed you," Elijah muttered, pulling her legs around him tightly.
"You did?" Hayley moaned, closing her eyes.
"If I didn't, I would have to admit that I wanted to be with you and I didn't want to be with anyone." Elijah's lips moved down her neck and Hayley felt warm in the cold night. "You brought me back from the brink."
"You brought me back, too," Hayley told him, taking his face between her hands and kissing him sweetly.
"You're the only half-way normal couple we know, other than Anna and Jer and they're trying to have a night alone together, so we'd thought this could be cool," Hayley told Bonnie and Enzo. They didn't really hang in the same group but she wanted to go on a double date because that's what people did.
Elijah blew a straw wrapper at Matt Donavon as the other boy walked by. Matt glared but said nothing in return. "Keep walking, mate," Elijah called after the other boy.
"Elijah, stop picking on him," Hayley snapped, turning her camera on Elijah who turned it back toward Bonnie.
Bonnie tucked her newly short bob behind her ear. "Thanks. I think." She glanced at Enzo who shrugged.
Kai Parker came over, pulling up a chair to their booth and sat down. "Hey, guys! What's up?" he asked them with a wide grin.
Hayley turned her camera on him. "Tell us, why do you keep showing up and asking everyone creepy questions?"
"Huh? Do I seem creepy to you?" Kai did not look offended, just curious.
"He's not creepy," Bonnie defended Kai. So far, she was the only person who did not think his just showing up and asking them anything that came to mind wasn't weird. Well, Bonnie and Elena. But Elena liked to answer anything shocking.
Kai looked pleased by Bonnie's answer until she added. "He's just a little weird."
"Seriously?" Kai looked around at the other students.
"You're a bit off," Enzo told him.
Again, Kai looked curious. "Why?"
"Because you've been asking us things; like how we feel. No one cares. Are you doing a documentary or something? You have to ask our permission to release anything about us." Enzo leaned back in his seat, staring Kai down.
"Like Hayley, with her camera? She's been recording most of what you've been doing for the past two and half months," Kai pointed out.
"That's for private use," Hayley defended herself.
"And what if someone hacks it and makes it public," Kai questioned her. "Some people like to watch teenagers and find out whether they're any different than they were ten years ago."
"Like some kind of pervert?" Elijah interrupted.
Kai's eyes widened. "No, like a reporter and his…their audience."
"Are you a reporter?" Hayley demanded, folding her arms over her chest.
"Me? No. Of course not!" Kai laughed. "You know, this has been great. I've got to go." He got up and left.
"So frickin' weird," Hayley muttered, flipping her ponytail over her shoulder. "I'm getting a milkshake."
Standing outside the school, Hayley waved for everyone to gather closer. "Hey, diary! So these are my friends!" The group waved. "Tell me something that no one knows about you," she told them.
Rebekah went first. "I am scared of small spaces."
"I like peanut butter on gummy bears," Kol said.
"Ew!" Davina wrinkled her nose. "I have a crush on," she hooked a finger at Kol while he talked to Klaus.
"We're getting married: next year," Caroline and Klaus announced.
Damon looked annoyed when someone poked him in the ribcage. "I want to be the President of the United States," he told the camera.
"She said something people didn't know," Elena pointed out, poking him in the ribs again.
"Okay. Fine. I sent Elena a love letter when we were twelve." Damon smirked. "But she never got it. I think Jeremy ate it."
"I got it. And I read it. And I loved it. It was very romantic. It's still in my drawer, along with the one thousand dollars I've stolen from your wallet over the past three years," Elena told Damon whose jaw dropped.
"Holy shit!" Jeremy laughed. "I had a lot of sex before I joined the abstinence club but it didn't really mean anything to me. Then I met Anna and we decided to wait to know that it's what we wanted and to make it mean something."
"I hate cheerleading," Anna said. "I'm quitting after this year."
"Really?" Hayley asked. "But you're so good."
"I know. But I really hate it." Anna replied with a shrug.
Liv went next. "I want to fly a plane."
Tyler looked confused. "Why?"
"Because I do," Liv rolled her eyes.
"I am good at playing soccer," Tyler told them.
Marcel jumped in. "I used to be a child actor."
"No way!" Rebekah shouted, smacking him.
"Seriously!" Marcel nodded. "I was in commercials for McD's."
"I want to see that," Damon called.
"Me, too," Elena added, poking Damon again.
"Stop poking me. See, how do you like that!" Damon shouted, poking Elena in the ribs.
"Oh, baby, that's the spot. Oh, lower, lower, ah!" Elena moaned.
"Get a room!" Klaus yelled.
"I want to work with at-risk youth," Bonnie said.
Enzo followed. "I'm going to culinary school."
"Go on Master Chef!" Elena cried.
"Go on Hell's Kitchen!" Damon suggested. "What's better than two Brits yelling at each other?"
"Shut up, you wanker!" Elijah shouted at Damon. "I like the color purple. My girlfriend looks stunning in it. And I'm glad she looks like a regular kid today. Although I do miss the tiny skirt."
"Shut up, Elijah," Hayley yelled at him while he took the camera to pan on her. She tucked her loose hair behind her ears, staring at the camera and tugging at her lower lip before speaking. "I don't know what's going to happen next year but I am really happy that I got to spend this year with all of you."
"Ah! Group hug!" Elena shouted, yanking Damon by the ear into a hug with the rest of the group.
"Go, Timberwolves!" someone shouted and they all began to laugh.
The next chapter is Kol centric and, yes, it's prom, again.

I'm sorry about the confusion but it's finally posted. I hope you enjoyed it and, don't worry, there will be more Haylijah in other character's stories before the end, like in the next chapter.
Thank you for reading, faving, following and reviewing.
