When Mizu made it back to the hotel she was bright red and dying from embarrassment. She skidded to a halt outside her door, wrenched it open and slammed it shut behind her. Mizu dumped her stuff on her bed and took her emotions out on the wardrobe. After she finished her hissy fit Mizu, managed to calm herself long enough to throw on some restaurant worthy clothes. With a few glances to the little paper bag on her bed, Mizu reluctantly put the little necklace on. With her stomach aching for food Mizu look at the various menus from the restaurants. After choosing something that she loved she sped down to the main restaurant. After being asked her room number Mizu gave her order to the waiter as she was being sat. As soon as she saw the table she was heading to she stopped.
"Hang on, there's someone at that table."
"He is a part of your party correct? We aim to please so we try and place you with your party members."
"But,"
"Woman, sit." Law rolled his eyes at her and pointed to the seat opposite him. She really didn't know what else to do but drop down into the seat instantly. "I assumed you'd be on the terrace eating greasy food."
"Once in a while, I like a change. I assumed you'd be out and about in town."
"Doing? And since when can't a man enjoy the finer things?"
"I don't know, whatever is it you do when you don't come crawling back to the sub until the early hours of the morning."
"Wouldn't you like to know?" Mizu's eyebrow twitched at him, clearly one of them would be storming off in anger and it was most likely going to be her. "Did you book a pool place?"
"Didn't buy a swimsuit."
"Didn't answer me."
Mizu's eyebrow twitched at the blatant attempt to annoy the crap out of her. She tried to calm herself before answering. "No I didn't. I planned to have a quiet night."
"You know what they say about people who plan to have a quiet night?*"
"No, what?"
"It never ends that way." If the twinkle in his eye was anything to go by, he was telling the truth. The waiter chose that moment to return for her order, after he left Law spoke again. "Nice necklace, just had to have the shiny?"
A blush filled her face when she relived what it took to get it. "I couldn't stop staring at it."
"That requires a blush?"
"Oh shut up."
"Now, now Cleaner-ya, let's be civil, we're in a restaurant."
Mizu huffed the rebellious single strand of her fringe flew up out of her face. "Fine, what did you get up to today?"
"The usual, took stock and spied any competition."
Which was code for finding any other pirates that may cause a problem. "Find any?"
"None to be concerned about."
"Any I should be concerned about?"
"Not unless you continue your tradition of getting into trouble." Before Mizu could let her anger boil over and froth everywhere the food came. A delicate plate of food was placed in front of Law while Mizu had something polar opposite to him. Eyeing the thing in front of the cleaner, Law grimaced. "What is that?"
"Cheese fondue sir, do you wish for a plate?"
"Nope, he's against bread." A dark aura appeared around Mizu, a fringe adding to the creepy face she was pulling. The food situation had the two standing off against each other with their evil personas showing.
The waiter backed away from the murderous vibe from the two quickly. Law blanched when Mizu dipped a piece of bread into the oozing cheese. "What are you doing?"
Looking at him through her long eyelashes added to the innocent look she was going for. "Eating, didn't know that was a crime."
"You choose that on purpose." Law stated calmly in a vain attempt to stop people from watching the show.
"Didn't even know you were here." Mizu picked up another, larger, piece of bread on the skewer and slowly dipped it. Once it was coated in cheese, she lifted it slowly to her lips and moaned at the taste. A small drip of cheese landed on her lips, with her hands full of skewers Mizu used her tongue to lick up the escaped offender. The sight caused Law to gag on his wine, a thin eyebrow rose at the Captain's sudden lack of sophistication.
"Then you're eating it like that on purpose."
"Hush now Captain, all I'm doing is dipping the piece of delicious freshly baked bread into the cheese."
"Shut up about the damn bread."
Suddenly some cheese smothered meat was shoved in his face. "Mmm, this is delicious Captain, care to try it? Come on, you know you want it."
"Mizu-ya if you don't shut up you won't like were I'm planning on shoving a skewer."
A lady at the next table blushed and gasped causing her to inhale her wine. By all accounts it would have been hilarious to see some woman spurt wine from the nose gasping at the insinuation by Law. If only they had somehow noticed any of it going on at all.
"I'm so scared. Fine, eat your own damn food and let me enjoy mine."
"What happened to being a shrinking violet earlier."
"I've had enough crap from men for one day buddy. I'm gonna eat this and then I'm gonna eat some ice cream."
"Will you stop waving that gooey mess around for two minutes?" Law flicked a cheese covered something back towards Mizu seemingly disgusted by its mere existence.
"Aww, is ickle Law scared of a small piece of bread."
"Why must you be so infuriating!?"
"Because you exist."
"Don't blame this on me."
"Who else is there? You drive me insane!"
"Huh, I drive you crazy? Try being around you."
"Please, sir, madam, could you be a little quieter, you're disturbing the peace."
Law and Mizu stopped instantly and glared at the poor waiter, who had enough sense to back away quickly. The two offenders stared at each other, Mizu had no idea what to say. On the other hand, Law wanted to say many things he just didn't know how. Mizu gulped her mind flashing back to the last time they had looked into each other's eyes for too long. Heat rose in her cheeks so fast she half expected steam to come off the top of her head. The metal skewer clanged off the side of pot due to her trembling hands. Mizu ducked down unable to keep up their staring contest, words died in her throat so she tried to eat some more of her food. They ate in silence until Law spoke up after he had finished.
"There's a job going here."
"And?"
"You could apply for it, it's a bar job."
"So you don't want me aboard the sub anymore so you're dumping me here." She couldn't breathe, her head bowed forward covering her face from Law's view.
Mizu heard Law sigh, she guessed that he was staring at her again and she would've been right. "Past this island is dangerous territory, I cannot guarantee anyone's safety. It would be in your best interest to stay somewhere safe and this is a safe comfortable island."
"Is this why you brought us here?" A single shimmering tear ran down her cheek.
"No."
"Why now?"
"I hate repeating myself," Law noticed her tear but carried on in his monotone way, "you would be safe here."
"I can't decide whether your being kind or just a jackass. I want to stay with the crew, they're my friends. I haven't been happier, even in the beginning when all we did was argue. Why can't you understand that?"
Rising from her seat, Mizu fled the restaurant and headed for the only place she could go. The Parrot Bar's interior was everything she was expecting, little plastic parrots with potted plants everywhere. The inhabitants were either drunk, eating peanuts or playing cards. Being the drunkest and loudest being in the bar, Mizu found Shachi and Penguin instantly. They were sat at the front of the bar with colourful paper flower rings on their heads. Bepo sat in his own booth sipping on a milkshake blissfully unaware of his two crewmates being morons.
As she approached the two Shachi jumped off his stool and wrapped his arms around Mizu. "Mizu! You're here! Sit, sit, sit, have a drink with us!"
Mizu flinched at the pain in her shoulder "So these belong with you then?" Jasmine laughed as she cleaned a tall glass. Grabbing a seat next to Penguin Mizu sighed, "You don't have to say a thing, free drink on the house, what will it be?"
"An alcoholic one!" Shachi yelled raising his pint glass, a second later Penguin raised his. The two clinked glasses merrily sloshing their drinks everywhere. "Cheers!"
"Yeah, no. Don't plan on getting drunk, look at you two, that's a reason not to."
Jasmine laughed and grabbed a long thin glass as big as her arm and filled in with crushed ice. "Don't worry I know what you need, non-alcoholic of course."
"I'll trust your judgement."
"So, you're Manic Maid Mizu huh?" Jasmine asked as she placed a pale pinkish clear drink in front of her.
"How did, you two better not be talking about me!" Mizu smacked Penguin upside the head as he was taking a drink. Unfortunately, Penguin head butted the glass rim. Not really comprehending what happened he rested his red lined head on counter groaning.
"Haha, violent, I get the name now," Mizu growled and sipped her drink, it was her turn to rest her head on the counter and groan. "but no, it wasn't them, we get new wanted posters each month. It's so we know who to watch out for. You look pretty hot in the picture, if you're into cosplayers."
"I hate life." She muttered before taking another sip and moaning in bliss.
"Let me guess, your boyfriend was just an ass to you?"
"Eat the mind-reading devil fruit, did ya?"
"Nope, I just have pretty good skills at deduction."
"Captain was mean to Mizu again? Shesh." Shachi interrupted slamming his glass down, "You two need to be together! The crew demands it, oh, I know we'll go on strike!"
Penguin laughed darkly "That's one way of getting us killed. But if Mizu and Law want to act like a couple of teenagers they can go ahead, it's not like we have a say."
It hadn't even been over an hour since Mizu last blushed but there she went again. "Guys!"
"Pirates, you never know how to treat a girl do you? Drink up Mizu, they're all free I'll get you another one after I do my next rounds."
"Isn't it difficult to handle a bar by yourself?" asked Mizu curiously.
"Not really, though the guy who owns the place wants another barmaid working here part time."
"Oh, that's the job Law was referring to."
Jasmine raised an eyebrow and set about six drinks on a tray before moving gracefully around the bar. "We'll continue this later. Boys fill your own damn pints." Shachi and Penguin gave her salute and leaned over the bar doing as such. Mizu was surprised at how fast she managed to sort out the orders for the people. Jasmine grinned and leaned against the bar. The clear blue eyes peering at her made Mizu really wanted to blush again. "Now, what was your boyfriend referring to?"
"He said I should take a job he found here."
"Ah."
"What?" the boys shouted and began to rant about how they would kidnap her if she tried.
Ignoring the ranting of two drunken men Jasmine leaned towards Mizu. "Are you going to take it?"
"No. Of course not, I love the crew I'm not leaving now that I've come so far."
"Good answer."
"What's this drink called?" how could a pinkish liquid tingle and delight her tongue, there were little yellowish seeds bouncing distractingly.
"Haven't really got a name for it, its peach and passion fruit juice with sparkling water and crushed ice."
"It's beautiful."
"Refreshing right? Want a proper drink now? I'll make you something with passion fruit in it." Jasmine winked grabbing a cocktail shaker.
"Why not." The boys cheered ecstatically and far too loudly for Mizu's comfort.
The worst words ever to be uttered by any human being ever, especially when they are in a bar. Coincidently, those were actually the last words Mizu will remember of that night. When Law found that Mizu had not returned to her room he decided to go looking for her. It wasn't as though he was worried. Well, it would be annoying to get her away from any pathetic bounty hunter that went after her for such a low amount. It was in the early hours of the morning, how bad could the situation be. The pirate captain had no idea whether to be impressed, annoyed or surprised at the sight laid before him. Heading towards Shachi and Penguin, Law sized up just how much crap Mizu was in. The cleaner had gotten herself into a sticky situation with another pirate. The man stood twice as big as her in every way possible, battle scars laden his body with a cigar hanging out his mouth. The man noticed Law and eyed him up, Mizu noticed and gave him a wave.
"Hi Captain, this guy said something mean, I wanna teach him a lesson about being a big meanie to Jasmine!" she giggled her arm still hi above her head from waving.
Her opponent laughed dropping ash on to the neatly swept floor. "Huh, your Captain doesn't look that strong. Looks more like a pretty boy than an actual pirate."
"HAHAHA! You're jealous!" Mizu squealed bouncing up and down ignoring what would have been a painful jolt. "You're jealous that he's a just as handsome as he is strong."
Law turned to Penguin and Shachi, he had his 'scary' face on. "You two let this happen?"
"It's fine, we're watching her. You have to admit she's a pretty funny drunk." Jasmine chuckled watching Mizu sway.
"Huh, if needs a girl to protect him, he ain't that strong," the pirate looked past Mizu and laughed, "Maybe I could show your girl friend here what a proper pirate is like."
"You can try. Not that she'll listen to you anyway."
"What's that pretty boy? Can't keep a weak girl like this in control."
"My Captain might be a pretty boy but he could kick your ass while looking fucking amazing while doing it. You on the other hand look as hot as my ice cream sundae."
"Are you going to tell her she isn't eating one?" Shachi asked.
"Not after she tried to scratch my eyes out last time." Penguin shuddered, Law just noticed some red lines that looked remarkably like scratch marks down his arms.
"Listen bitch I don't know who you're talking to but you need to shut the fuck up."
"And just who are you talking to? I'm not a bitch, please, but if I was I'd do this," with little to no other warning Mizu kicked the other pirate right on the nose, stubbing out his cigar was a bonus. It was pure impulse and Penguin and Shachi found it hilarious. Mizu brought her foot back down from her impeccable stretch which even she never knew she could do. Again, Law had no idea what to think about the situation other than, surprise. Either way, the pirate on the receiving end was not as thrilled as he turned a rather festive shade of red.
Jasmine tried desperately to keep her professional composure due to her laughing hard. What didn't help was that the pirate spat every profanity he knew. "Erm, you have to, uh, leave."
"What?" the pirate went to push and scream at Mizu but Law pulled her towards him, out of his reach. "It's that bitch who deserves to be kicked out."
Mizu leaned against Law sniggering to herself. "Bitch? Puh, learn some new ones matey" she mumbled into Law's ear her laughter turned into giggles.
"You've had three warnings, this will be her first," Jasmine took a look at Mizu giggling into Law's hoodie and had a giggle herself. "I'll tell her in the morning."
It took a while and security to drag the guy out but their night wasn't ruined by the idiot. Mizu rested her head on Law's shoulder and stared up at Law wide eyed. "When did ya put ya hoodie on?"
"What does it matter to you?"
"I like your hoodie. It's comfy and soft and smells like you." Mizu giggled and tried to put her hands under the hem of the piece of clothing. Law stopped her hands but he didn't expect her to lean into him even more. Her whole body was pressed against him, if it were anybody else they would be blushing. "Aww, let me steal it, please. I'ma pirate too, I wanna steal your hoodie, please let me steal it."
"No, now sit down." The cleaner giggled and tried to find a seat only to nearly fall over. Law rolled his eyes and plonked her on a seat with himself beside her. In a vain attempt to get her to sit up right Law moved closer to her a hand around her waist in case she fell. All that changed was, instead of collapsing on the counter top she was laid on his shoulder again.
"You two look cute, you know that?"
"Drink now. Don't care what."
"Ouch, snappy"
"What did he say to you that upset her?"
Jasmine gave him a pint and glanced at Mizu who had a stupid grin on her face, her eyelids closing every other second. "Mostly that I was a bitch or a wench. Oh and that I should hurry my ass up and serve him. Or something along those lines, it just made her snap for some apparent reason. Must have hit a raw nerve."
Shachi and Penguin sniggered into their drinks. Law decided to ignore them and focus on the person snoring lightly on his shoulder. "Oi, Mizu-ya wake up!"
The cleaner jolted and stretched, once again not realising that it would cause her a lot of pain. "Morning already?"
"No. Get to bed."
"Aww, but Captain I'm not sleepy."
"Mizu-ya."
"I love it when you do the whole angry voice." Mizu giggled and leapt off her seat and flounced out the bar.
"Get her drunk again and there will be hell to pay. You understand?" The guys nodded and hastily downed their drinks. Law followed her closely purely because she was a hazard to herself and others. He really didn't want to head back to the sub with a drunken injured Mizu.
After the coast was clear, Jasmine and the boys formed a tight group at the bar.
"So we're all in for the plan right?" Penguin asked the two, Shachi and Jasmine gave a short sharp nod. "We just need a good plan."
"I say we get her drunk again, you saw how affectionate she got with Law. Maybe that'll be the last push they need." Shachi suggested laughing at the memory of Mizu snuggling up to Law.
