AN: So i got a review. Amazing! Just kidding. So I got a review that asked for more Jerome and Rose romance. I realize I haven't added a lot in, but there is a reason for that, and I'm sure you can figure it out. Right? On another note. I saw my first scene from Het Huis Anubis the other day, and it is so cool! Well, actually I think it was a scene from a staged version or something...anyway! I just love the scene. Awkward Jerome is so adorable. But I digress. You probably want to get on with the chapter right? Well here it is!
Rose POV
Victor moved in his sleep, but then he settled, making it easy for Nina to grab the amulets and escape. We ran back to her room, woke everyone up, gave them their amulets, and went to our own rooms before anyone could notice we were gone.
O-o-O
I was serving detention with Mr. Sweet the next day while Mara was interviewing him about cafeteria food. I didn't know what the big deal was. Anywhere you went, the cafeteria food was always disgusting. That's why I was so glad we had a Trudy—or, well, Vera.
"Very eye-opening," Mr. Sweet approved.
"Cafeteria food is gross everywhere you go, I don't see why you need a news article about it," I said.
"No comments, please, Rose," Mr. Sweet said.
I sighed. I was bored. I began swinging my legs, trying to hit the coat rack in the room. When I did, I heard a metallic clang sound.
"Why do you have a metal coat rack?" I asked.
"Well, actually," Mr. Sweet said, lowering his voice. "It's actually a suit of armor from the Frobisher library. I'm using it as a coat rack."
"Why?" I asked. It seemed crazy to me.
"Um...no reason," he stammered as a bell rang on his desk. "Your detention is over, out, both of you." He shooed us out.
"You know what I never got," Mara said on our way back to Anubis House. "Why does Mr. Sweet give you detention in his office? Most students spend an hour in a classroom, or do extra chores."
"Mr. Sweet learned a long time ago not to trust me in a classroom by myself," I replied. "Only bad part? He took my phone because he caught me texting Jerome. He won't give it back until tomorrow or the next day."
"So what did you do to make Sweetie not trust you?" Mara asked as we entered the house.
"I'm not supposed to say," I said mysteriously.
"Okay..." she said, obviously not sure what else to say.
We entered the living room and I saw Jerome. I went to sit next to him and layed my head on his shoulder. He kissed the top of my head.
"So you'll never guess what we found out," Mara said smiling. Wait, she knows?
"What's that?" Jerome asked.
"Sweetie has the suit of armor in his office," Mara replied excitedly.
Just then Nina came in. "Rose, are you ready?" she asked.
"Ready for what?" Jerome asked.
"We were going to go in town," I replied quickly before leading Nina out into the hall. "I can't go down," I said. "Take my amulet and keep it safe, I almost got caught with it today. Put it in the dollhouse," I suggested.
"What do you mean you can't go?" she asked. "We need you to—"
"I am not always going to be there for you to be you're little fortune teller!" I snapped. "I'm not the only one skipping out either. Patricia can't go."
"She has detention," Nina said.
"And I just came back from one. I'll come down next time," I said and she left in a huff.
I went back into the living room and noticed Mara had gone. I sat by Jerome again and put my head on his chest. He stroked my hair for a little while. Then I said, "So how are you going to get to the suit of armor?"
"I don't know," he replied.
O-o-O
"So I have it all figured out, Alfie," Jerome said when Alfie came over to us the next day. Then he launched into his random stats list.
"That's a lot of random facts," I said.
"I need a distraction," Jerome mused, ignoring me. "If I could get him distracted, you could pick the lock, and I'd get in and get out."
"We need to send old Sweetie on a wild goose chase or something," I commented.
"Oh! I got it!" Alfie said after a minute. "I'll worry about the distraction, you guys just wait for my signal!" Then he ran off.
O-o-O
We approached Alfie later that day to find him with a cage.
"I swear to God, if you have a goose in there—" I hissed, but was interrupted by a goose honking. "I knew I'd get in trouble with the expression 'wild goose chase.' Only you, Alfie. Only you."
As Alfie let the goose out, Jerome and I snuck into Mr. Sweet's office. He found the gem in the leg of the statue, but couldn't stop it from coming crashing down...
