Hey guys! I'm a bit annoyed since I just typed the A/N and my computer deleted it. And no one got the quote. Here to help me is Laney. Take it away.
Laney: A would like to thank Michelle Rita, WolvesRock13, Musical Skater, FangaWolfLover, and Mystery123 for reviewing.
Michelle Rita: It was when Spencer said,"Don't you know that people make bad choices when their mad or scared or stressed."
WolvesRock13: That's who I thought it was going to be, but I changed my mind. And here is a long awaited chappy. The quote is in the reply above.
Musical Skater: Thank you! You already know what it is. And you too!
FangaWolfLover: I do have an idea for who it might be. It's kinda a shocker. And they aren't looking at posters. That's all I'm saying.
mystery123: Your welcome!
Disclaimer: Master Laney appears. You'll understand later.
Last time: She hardly knows I exist, but take my word for it, she will be mine. One day she will love me.
Carrie's P.O.V.
The rest of the week went by without my talking to anyone. I did go to school, but I just didn't want to talk to anyone. The argument was on Tuesday and now it was Friday; the end of the school week.
I have been purposely avoiding Lenny and pretty much anyone. I thought that if I got to close to Lenny, I would blow up with anger or just let the tears flow. Those days leading up to Friday, I left early, before the bus could pick me up so that I didn't have to ride. I walked home. It was lonely, sure, but I was used to it.
That night, after the argument, I got a text. It took me a second to remember who it was. It was Macki. With all the drama here, I almost forgot about her. Her text said,'Hey Care. How's Illinois? I miss you.'
I replied,'Hi. I miss you too. I got into a big fight with my best friend and it's not looking good.'
'I'm sorry about that. Guess what?'
'What?'
'Lilly actually started to protect me from Lizzie. And I have even better news!'
To build suspense, she sent her next message a few minutes later. 'My dad said we are moving back to Peaceville! He got his old job back and his boss says that he can book us plane tickets. We'll be there Monday!'
I squealed in delight. I also scared Muffins and she clawed my thigh. I then squealed in pain. I laughed before replying. 'Oh my gosh, really?! When I read that, I squealed and scared my cat and she ended up scratching me.'
'Lol. I text you the deets when I get some, so be prepared.'
She had almost made me forget about the fight. The rest of the week I was excited. But I still had to be mad at Lenny because he was being a jerk.
Every time Spencer tried to talk to me, I just ignored him or shrugged him off. I think he got the gist, but he just kept trying it.
That Friday, three days until Macki came back, my alarm clock didn't go off. The power went out. I quickly got dressed in my old outfit. The white undershirt, the black shirt, the tan skirt and the socks. Somehow it all still fit. I threw on my blue Chuck Taylor's. I grabbed my hat and ran downstairs to get something to eat. I grabbed and apple. I looked at my phone and it said the time was 7:25. The bus came at 7:29.
I ran outside in the rain. It seemed to rain more since I showed up. I had to make it to the bus stop in 4 minutes. The stop was 2 blocks away. I rounded the corner and ran as fast as I could. I saw the sign that said bus stop. I heard the bus. It seemed to be a block or so away. I made it to the stop and put my hands on my knees to breathe. And that's when I realized I didn't put my hair up. It spilled over my arms and tickled my legs as I caught my breath.
I looked over towards where the bus was coming from and I could've sworn that I saw something flash. It was like a camera flash. I didn't think anything of it.
"Nice hair." I heard someone say. I jumped, not realizing Laney was standing next to me. The redhead looked at me, a small smile she was stifling.
"I know. I forgot to put it up. The power was out and I was late and... ugh! Why am I talking to you?" I finally asked.
"No clue. But here comes the bus so act normal."
"Am I not acting normal?"
"Not necessarily. Do I need to remind you that you are talking to me? Your enemy?"
I shrugged. The bus pulled up and she got on first and I followed. I could've sworn I saw the flash again. She sat and it looked like she wanted me to sit with her. There were no empty seats so I ended up sitting with her. Lenny should be on, but he wasn't.
"Core usually walks since he's closer to school."
I nodded. She continued," Y'know, Lenny says he's sorry. He says he wishes that he didn't say it."
"He can say it all he wants until he says it to my face." I respond bitterly.
"Sorry." Laney winced slightly at my tone. "It's just that you've been avoiding everyone. You sit by yourself at lunch. You won't let anyone get close to you. You walk away if any of us try to talk to you. He didn't think you would go as far as to..." She trailed off.
We sat in silence, listening to the little kids in the front of the bus banter about whose better Spider-Man or Batman. The driver would tell the kids to settle down. They listened but only for a second as they started it all over again.
"I didn't mean it." I whispered.
She turned to me and asked," What?"
"I didn't mean it. I didn't mean it. It's just with everything that's been going on lately, I've been-" I stopped mid-sentence as she surprised me by giving me a hug. The hug wasn't long and it wasn't tight.
As she let go, she said," Now don't tell anyone about that. I want to keep my reputation."
We pulled into school.
Later that day transition!
During the beginning of lunch, the PA buzzed on and the principal stated in a calm tone," I am sorry to interrupt, but all band members are to go to the band room immediately after seventh period. I repeat, all band members report to the band room after seventh." The PA buzzed off.
I actually sat with my friends in lunch that day. And Laney was sitting with us! It surprised me and everyone else that was sitting at the table. Riffin looked a bit sad, but Laney didn't notice.
"So I see you took Master Laney's advice." Said girl said as she placed her stuff at our table.
"Master Laney?" I giggled out.
"Yep. I am a master at advice for people I guess," Laney paused putting her hand on her face and her elbow in the table to continue. "But only I call myself that."
"Welcome Master. This is the weird people table and we welcome with open arms." I said. I heard Kin whisper in my ear," She's ticklish."
I wanted to try it out so when she wasn't looking, I tickled her side. She let out a girlish laugh. The cafeteria turned to Laney, making her face read as well as her ears.
The table laughed after everyone turned away. "At least I know I'm in the right spot then if this is the weird people place."
"So are you going to talk to him?" Laney asked me when we got our lunch.
"Maybe later. I just don't want to be dealing with annoying things right now. A friend of mine is coming back on Monday and I want to be happy."
"You're going to have to do it sometime."
"True. And not to be creepy, but did you see a flash this morning coming from the bush in the corner house. It was around when you said "Nice hair." I think I saw it again when we got on the bus."
"I thought I was imagining it," Laney confessed. "It kind of looked like a camera flash, didn't it?"
"Yeah, it did."
Now to Spanish class Transition!
I tried to ignore the fact that Lenny was going to be sitting next to me in this class. He sat next to me and we just ignored each other until he spoke.
We were watching a movie and all the lights were off. with it raining outside, the room was dark. He whispered something and I couldn't hear him.
"What?"
He said it again, louder this time, but still in a whisper. "I said I knew that you wouldn't cut your hair."
"And...?"
"You always said, when we were younger, that you wanted your hair to be that long. I may not remember our fake marriage or you calling me "Lenny-wenny", but I remember that."
I blushed slightly and I could slightly see that his cheeks had gotten darker as well. I turned away and ignored him for the rest of the class.
Now to the band room!
I walked to the room in the front of the school by myself. My blue backpack bounced on my shoulder. Maybe I shouldn't quit the band. I probably-why am I saying probably, it should be definitely-wasn't in the right frame of mind in that moment.
I made it to the door and opened it. I was the third one in there. Kin and Kim were there talking about nerdy stuff that I wouldn't understand. They both had blushes. They were so in love.
Wait. I know what love is? No, I don't. Not in my case anyway. I could see it in other people, but not myself. I wasn't in love with anyone, right? I don't know!
I mentally screamed. I should ask Laney if Riffin knows what love is. After all we're so alike, he should have the same problem as me, right?
I sat of the stage, making sure not to interrupt the love birds. Soon, the rest of the gang showed up. And that did include Grojband and Spencer and what's-her-face (Riley). I did warm up to 3/4 of the Grojband members, so I guess they are friends now.
As we talked, a woman walked into the room. She had graying hair and a business like suit on. She stated in an official tone," Please settle down."
We did as she said and listened," You might be wondering why you were ordered down here. So I will tell you. Each band member has to sing a song in a sort of competition. If a member does not participate, they will be kicked out of the band. For good. You are allowed a partner from your own band. The contest will begin Monday. Your song must be finished by this time tomorrow. I have left my email address on the table. You must send it to me by then."
"But, what happens to the person who wins?" Corey asked the woman.
"I have not decided yet, but it will be something to your liking. You may begin to write your songs now." The woman left the room.
We looked around at each other. We had a day to write a song to move up in a contest that could kick us out of our band.
We started immediately.
On the bus transition!
I sat with Laney once again. We talked about our songs.
"I've never actually sung in front of the guys before." Laney admitted.
"Really? That's weird."
"They still think I'm a guy. Well Kin knows I'm a girl. The other two are clueless." She blew her bangs from her face.
I laughed. The bus rolled by Corey and Lenny as they walked together. We waved.
"Do you think Corey knows what love is? I'm only asking since I am so confused about it and since we are basically doppelgangers that he would have the same problem."
"Probably not. If he did, he would see that I've been head over heels for him since we were 11."
"What?"
"Did I say that last part out loud?"
I nodded.
"Promise to me that you will never, and I mean never ever, tell anyone what I just said."
"I promise."
We got off the bus at the stop and before we parted our separate ways, I stuck out my hand. She took it.
"Truce?" I asked her.
"Truce. We are fiends." She responded.
We smiled at each other before I went home to work on my song.
?'s P.O.V.
I looked around at my countless Polaroid pictures of Carrie that adorned my walls. There are ones from today, Thursday, Wednesday, and even when she was arguing with that guy earlier this week. He made me jealous. I'm glad she turned him away.
If she didn't I would have to hurt him. Badly.
In some of my beautiful pictures, I saw a redhead. I think she was the one from Grojband. She's pretty, but I like Carrie more. I love Carrie more.
Maybe if I can't get Carrie, which I definitely will, I can get the redhead.
DUN DUN DUN! The creeper was in the bush taking pictures of our babiessssss!
Master Laney debuted today and I think it's true because she is the bringer of advice. Please leave any ideas for prizes in the reviews. If I like yours more than my idea, I might use it! See you guys next time!
P.S. I wrote this chapter in three hours.
Love you guys ~A
Maybe next time we can find out who ? is. Or maybe what the prize will be for winning the contest.
