A/N: Hey guys! New chapter, and I wanted to say something that has been pointed out to me by a commenter known as AMANDA'S CUPCAKES. She's right on at least one point. I have lost track of the Horcruxes just a little bit, and I'm working on it. Thank you Amanda or AMANDA'S CUPCAKES, whichever one you want to go by for pointing it out to me. Can you guys believe I've been working on this story for almost three years? I've grown up so much since then, and I believe it has been showing through my writing. Thank you guys for sticking with me for all this time. I love you for it and I can't wait to show you what all I've got!
After about four days of eating bland foods, I was finally able to eat real food, and by that time, it was time to start packing to go back to Hogwarts. This was a terrible holiday, but with Harry's help I will grow passed it.
I was sitting in a compartment with Harry, the twins, and Neville when Draco opened the door. For some reason, something was different about the boy. It was almost as if his scent was swirling around him, and I could pick out every element.
I could smell the mint of his toothpaste; I could smell the soil that was under his fingertips; I could smell his natural scent that had a lighter musk than Harry, but it was still there.
He looked at me as well. He also looked more mature than he did a couple of days ago. He smirked and planted a kiss on my cheek. I felt shivers go down my spine, and both boys noticed it as well.
I nudged Harry lightly and jerked my head towards the door. As soon as we were outside we all looked at each other. "What the Hell?" Harry asked angrily, "I thought I was your mate!"
"It's possible for her to have more than one mate, Potter. If you studied on Veelas, like any good mate should, you would know this," Draco said in a snooty tone.
"I don't care if you are my mate Draco," I said pointing a finger at him, "I will slap you silly unless you show him some respect."
Draco scoffed, "When we get back, I say we go to the library and pick up some books that Potter can study." Draco slapped Harry on the back, but what really caught my eye was that the two of them shivered as well.
"I can't actually," I said to them, "There's something I need to do before heading back to the common rooms tonight."
"What's that?" Harry asked.
"I'm working with the Headmaster on something," I said giving Harry a wink.
"It's not dangerous is it?" Draco asked, "I don't care if you aren't really my mate, Angel. I care about you, and I don't want to see you hurt."
"I'll be fine Draco," I said with a smile.
An hour after we got to Hogwarts, I was making my way up to the Room of Requirements. I knew what I was looking for, and I knew that Dumbledore has been actively avoiding the seventh floor. The diadem was the last of the horcruxes we could easily get. I just prayed that he at least got the ring.
Before making my way here, I sent a letter to Dumbledore: to get the locket, the cup that the goblins sent him, and the ring. We were going to get rid of these four horcruxes tonight.
I quickly grabbed the diadem and ran to the headmaster's office. I needed to get there as soon as possible. "Are you ready Headmaster?" I asked as I opened the door.
"I am," he said placing the ring on his desk with a gloved hand, "I hope you do not mind that I brought Severus along."
"Not at all," I said, "The easiest way to do this would be to use the sword of Gryffindor, but I think, to avoid touching the ring, fiend fire would be our best bet."
"You seem to be an expert in the field of Horcruxes, Ms. Peacock," Snape said with a smirk.
"You cannot put a limit on education Professor," I said with a smile. We made our way back to the headmaster, who had just levitated the ring into a jar.
I sighed as I took the sword by the hilt and looked it over. "What are you waiting for Peacock?" Snape asked. Though Dumbledore hadn't said anything, I knew by the look on his face, he was thinking the same thing.
"It's kind of a big deal Professor," I said sending him a glare, "I'm slowly ending a man's life over here! And just the glory of being able to hold Gryffindor's sword is outstanding. I have a few conflicting emotions."
"Of course," he said sarcastically, "we wouldn't want you to get overly emotional in a war."
"And to think," I sneered, "I thought you were improving."
"Just kill those blasted things!" Snape yelled.
"Ugh! Fine!" I yelled finally lifting the sword above my head and bringing it down on all the objects. Before the hour was up, 4 more pieces of Voldemort's soul was destroyed, and I was on my way back to the Gryffindor common room.
"Where have you been?" Harry asked as he heard the door open.
"Like I said, I was with Dumbledore," I replied as I sat down next to him.
"Doing what?" he asked.
"Talking about stuff," I replied with a shrug, "Snape was there. Insults were thrown, glares clashed, not much else."
"About the Horcruxes?" Harry asked.
"You are way too observant for your own good," I sighed.
"How many did you destroy?" he asked, "You seem more tired than normal."
"All of them but the snake and you," I said. With that Harry stood up. "Where are you going?"
"Why don't you talk to me about this?" he asked. I could tell by his tone of voice that he was angry but I had no clue why.
"Talk with you about what?" I asked, "There's really nothing to talk about."
"Why don't you involve me?" he asked, "I'm apart of this too!"
"You want to know why I didn't let you come to help destroy the Horcruxes?" I asked, "Is that really why you're upset?"
"Of course! I'm a part of this too! You know that I wouldn't be in any danger!"
"I don't know that Harry!" I yelled, "Me just being here has changed the entire course of history! I can't know what happens next! Can I know if Sirius dies at the end of the year? No. Can I know if George will try to protect Percy instead of Fred? No. Will I even know if there will be a big battle on Hogwart's grounds? No! I don't know what will happen now Harry!"
"Then maybe it would have been better if you didn't come at all," he said looking away from me.
"Y-you don't mean that Harry," I said. I was shocked that he said this.
"Maybe I do," he said as he marched up the stairs to the dorm room. I felt tears well up and sting my eyes. I cried silently for about an hour before making my way up the stairs myself.
