AN: I am aware that this is late, but I have a valid excuse. I was working for a little extra cash and didn't exactly come home after 10 hours on my feet, feeling the need to type. I also went through what the Americans call "Hell week", we just have it for three weeks instead. Well, I'm unemployed again and I've made it through hell so away we go! Warning: this chapter is not in chronological order.
"Cleaver, you seem a lot less goofy than my father described you." Keira noted. "There's a time and place for everything, I like to be goofy because that way, it doesn't feel like the problems of the world are weighing me down so much." Cleaver told her. Keira took a sip from her third mug of hot chocolate, absorbing the information she received. They had been sitting and chatting for a few hours now and time seemed to just fly by. "How about you?" Cleaver asked, breaking Keira's train of thought.
"What do you mean?" She asked. "You mentioned that you play instruments earlier, are they for your enjoyment or just an escape from reality?" He explained his question. Keira stared at her mug before answering. "A bit of both sometimes. I forget the expectations that people have of me. I mean, my father is a Death scythe and my mother the meister to defeat the Kishin Asura at the age I'm at now." She said. "I can relate. My aunt is Marie Mjolnir, a Death scythe as well. My father knew this and based on this fact, pushed and pushed and pushed me to breaking point so that I can be the best weapon possible. He succeeded, but at the age of 13, I left home and joined the DWMA to get away from my father." Michael explained.
"Doesn't that mean you're running from your problems?" Keira asked. "Some see it like that, I see it as a tactical retreat before hitting back stronger. I don't like my father, not in the slightest. My mother saw a child while my father saw a weapon. I'm gonna go back one day and show him the weapon I really am." Cleaver answered.
He got up to make himself some more hot chocolate when Benjamin charged into the room and tackled him. The surprised weapon saw the headbutt Benjamin was going to give him and quickly changed his head into the head of his sledgehammer form. Benjamin grabbed his head and yelled in pain before rolling off and giving Cleaver a chance to retaliate. He tried to land a punch of his own, but Keira jumped in between them. "ARE YOU BOTH CRAZY?" she shouted after delivering fierce blows to both Benjamin and Cleaver's heads with a book. "Who's he?" they both asked, pointing at each other.
Introductions were made and the two shook hands like they were at an afternoon tea, all bad blood behind them. "So, why, if I may ask, did you storm in here?" Keira asked. "We have a situation." Benjamin said.
"We're here." Kyle said to a clearly excited Victoria. "WOW! OHMYDEATHTHISPLACEISSODAMNAWESOMEKYLE!" She bursted out. She hugged Kyle after seeing the view and seemed excited to start unpacking their picnic basket. Before Kyle knew what was going on, he was sitting under the tree with her sitting basically on his lap. "I need to tell you something." They both said simultaneously said. "You first, no you first." They continued.
"Okay fine, Victoria, I might be wrong but I've been getting signals from you and I wanted to ask about them."
"Like?"
"You know... signals."
"Oh no, did I do morse code in my sleep again?"
"Victoria, a serious answer please."
"I... I...-"
"Well, I'm bored of this little drama, time to burn shit down." A voice said from above. The weapon and meister looked up to see Mark Adams sneering at them, holding onto his flamethrower. "SEE YA, RED." He yelled before he sent the park up in flames.
"So the twin sister only acted as if she was a good guy?" Ashley asked, exiting a movie theater with Alex. "Yup." Alex replied, still not done with his popcorn. "That's so unrea- uh-oh." Ashley started. "What?" Alex asked. "My brother is here." Ashley answered. "This is good. It means we can catch him." Alex said, a smile forming on his face. "I'm afraid it's not that simple. Alex, I want you to run to Benjamin and tell him Victoria is in danger. My brother always finishes his job." Alex wanted to argue about her safety, but saw the pleading look in her eyes. He decided it would be best to trust her and started sprinting to Benjamin's house. Ashley turned and ran the other way, knowing her brother is waiting for her. They were twins after all
She could feel her legs begging her to stop and lungs were past screaming, but she had to reach her brother before he could do anything stupid. "MARK!" She yelled. Her brother sat near the park. "Ah, sister dearest, you're just in time for the big show. You used to love the bonfires I made." He said casually. "I'm not four anymore, Mark." Ashley said with irritation in her voice.
"You're right. Fortunately, I still enjoy a good roast."
"Mark, please don't do this. They're my friends."
"Friends, that's good. Friends make a bonfire seem so much more fun."
"Mark, I'm begging you. They mean a lot to me."
"Then fight me. Show me how much you care."
Ashley knew that she had lost long before the battle had started, yet she decided to fling herself into battle nevertheless.
After explaining what Alex had told him and waiting for Alex to catch up, Keira, Benjamin and Cleaver made a dash for the park. They arrived to hear a clashing of blades and could easily find where Mark and Kyle were busy going at each other. Mark seemed to have the upper hand, thanks to a gasmask attached on his face, whereas Kyle seemed to be struggling to breathe. It was clear that they weren't dealing with amateurs anymore. Mark took one look at Benjamin and laughed uncontrollably. Kyle took the gap and tried to hit a vital, but Mark was too fast for the struggling Meister and kicked his feet out from under him with a low sweep. Keira and Benjamin rushed in, but Mark had once again produced a grappling hook and left the scene. Just before he was out of earshot he yelled a sentence back at the group that chilled Alex to the bone. He was suddenly unaware of the flames around him and he could feel himself trembling.
"BY THE WAY, ASHLEY IS IN HERE SOMEWHERE! GOOD LUCK FINDING HER!"
How I made my OC's:
Kyle and Victoria
Kyle was actually pretty easy to create since he's based on a friend I've known since diaper days. Kyle is almost exactly who he is in real life, the OC Kyle just doesn't piss you off so often XD. Victoria, I actually struggled with. At this point, I already made all the other OC's and noticed that there was a slight lacking in likeability towards a specific character, so I set my mind on creating a character that anyone could like. I thought long and hard about what this character should be like when it just suddenly happened. I was at my grandmother's house for the weekend and I was making notes in her study when I noted (Heh, noted...) that she seemed to have a lot of ornaments and memorabilia sitting around. The main theme: British royalty. The name "Victoria" Kinda blew up in my head. Her background made in seconds (I'm planning on making a one shot about that) and her appearance soon followed. I knew that I was successful (or hope I was) when I developed a semi-crush on my own creation. Well look forward to Keira and Alex next.
AN: This chapter is a little short, but I kinda felt bad about leaving you guys in the dark for so long. An update; I'm at the North West University (NWU) and I'm currently studying English, German, Afrikaans, Dutch, translation studies and then I also have a writing class. What I'm saying is that if all goes to plan, my style of writing may improve greatly. I hope to update again soon. See ya, the republican out!
