A/N: Happy New Year! For my new year's resolution I will try to update this story once a month. (fingers crossed) At the very least, I hope to finish this section, or "arc" in 2016. Yeah... Okay then! Enjoy the chapter everyone!
On a bus, halfway across the city
The bus lurched forward as it started to move again. Andy looked up hopefully.
Less than ten seconds later, everything stopped again.
Everyone on the bus, including the driver, jumped in surprise as Andy slammed his fist against the window.
"Arghhhh!" he screamed.
Ignoring the stares at him, Andy put his head in his hands. 'I don't have time for this!' he thought angrily. He marched up to the bus driver. "Hey! Can this thing get even slower?! What's the hold-up?!" he demanded.
The driver glared at him. "As I explained over and over again, there is heavy traffic in front of us, blocking our way. It's as simple as that.
"Yeah, but-" Andy began.
"If you don't sit down right now, I will really eject you from this vehicle!" the bus driver interrupted loudly.
Andy shut his mouth. He turned away and looked out the window at the sea of colourful vehicles, packed together on the narrow road like canned sardines. He clenched his fists. "Damn…" he swore, just as another bus coming from the other direction rolled up beside them.
The bus driver leaned his head out the window. "Hey!" he shouted at the driver of the other bus. "You have any idea what's going on?!"
"Oh yeah!" the other driver shouted back. "There's seem to be some kind of trouble down at VGH. You have no idea how many cops were down there! I got a close look before they taped off the area; it looked like a tornado had blown its way through there!"
"What?!" his colleague gasped in disbelief. "Does that mean that everyone inside is-?!"
"No!" the other driver interrupted. "The ER was spared. From what I saw, the damage was limited to only one place: the sick ward nearest the neurology depar-Hey! Watch that passenger!"
The first driver whirled around and saw that Andy was trying to kick the bus doors open. "What the hell are you doing?!" he cursed at the teenager.
Andy glared at him, his eyes crazy with rage. "Open the damn door, right now!" he demanded.
Perhaps it was the crazy look of bloodlust in the boy's eyes, or maybe it was the urgency in his voice. Either way, the driver merely nodded in reply and opened the doors.
Andy took off like a rocket. By the time the bus's doors closed behind him, the boy was already halfway down the block.
'The sick ward nearest neurology…' Andy repeated the bus driver's words to himself. That was where Anna and Katherine had been staying in the hospital when his uncle texted him earlier:
KATHERINE IS MISSING FROM THE HOSPITAL. COME QUICKLY.
"No…" Andy gasped underneath his breath as he continued to run towards the hospital, several blocks away. "Please…don't let…it…be…Kat…"
Two years ago…
"Eat your asparagus, Andy," Katherine ordered, pushing the plates of vegetables towards him. "Aunt Lilly made them just for you."
"Hell no," Andy pushed the plate of disgusting bites away. "They stink, and they also…" Andy sneaked a glance at Steven, who was sitting with them and quietly looking in at their exchange.
Katherine's blue eyes opened wide in realization. "Don't you dare, Andy Hamasaki!" she warned.
"…make your pee smell funny!" Andy burst out laughing. Steven just shook his head.
"Andy Hamasaki, you are so immature!" Katherine scolded him.
"And you're an old lady, Kat!" Andy shot back cheerfully. "Can't you take a joke? We're just kids; you don't need to act like my moth…er…"
A tense silence befell the three friends as Andy's last word died on his lips. "Andy…" Steven finally spoke up quietly.
"She's right for once. Andy Hamasaki, you're an idiot."
Andy internally sighed as he recognized the new voice. Even without turning around, he knew that Katherine and Annabel Li were glaring at each other over his head.
"No one asked for your opinion Li." Katherine warned the other girl. "Get lost, spoiled brat."
Andy turned around just in time to see Anna's lips curled up in a cruel smile. "At least I know more about mothers than you, Katherine Price…if that's your real name."
"Hey, stop it, you two!" Andy stood up quickly, stopping Katherine from lashing out at Anna, even if the latter did deserve it. "I don't mind getting in trouble; hell, I'm used to it by now, but the two of you and Steven are model students! Anna, you and Steven are on the student council! So, just calm down, everyone! You want to get in trouble or what?!"
A look of surprise briefly crossed Anna's face. The girl nodded in agreement, and for a moment Andy was surprised at the tenderness he saw in Anna's eyes.
It had happened a few times before, those looks from Anna's that he, and he alone, saw. It was weird. However, as usual, the moment didn't last:
Katherine stood up from the table. "Let's go, Andy, Steven. I rather eat the rest of my lunch in the restroom than next to this…this…this person!"
As Katherine stomped off, half-dragging Steven and Andy after her, Andy sneaked a glance back at Anna. Once again, the girl was staring at him with those eyes, deep with tenderness and something else…
Present day…
Andy stumbled, and his long strides slowed to a walk. "Why…?" he gasped. He had been thinking about his friend Katherine; why had he ended up thinking about Anna as well? He hated her!
"They are both important to you," Roscoe's words reminded him. "Katherine was your first friend, but Anna was your first love. Despite everything she did to Katherine, you never let her go…"
"Damn…" Andy stopped walking and slumped against a telephone pole. "Anna…Katherine…"
Two months ago…
"Kat! Kat, wait up!" Andy shouted as he chased Katherine's retreating back down a dark alley. "I know it's you! Why are you avoiding me! Hey!"
Andy's legs were longer. In a matter of moments, he had caught up to Katherine. He grabbed her arm, and the hood of her jacket came off.
Andy's eyes opened wide as he took in the sight of his friend. "Kat, you…your hair…"
Katherine had cut her long blonde hair.
"N..no…" Katherine was stuttering, something she never did before. "NOOOOO!"
Andy stumbled backwards as his friend pushed him away. "Katherine!" he screamed after her.
Katherine never looked back.
Back in the present, Andy covered his eyes with his arm. Even now, months later, he could still vividly recall the horror in Katherine's face as she stared at him.
Katherine was afraid of him.
Andy felt sick to his stomach. Why did Katherine change so much so quickly? Why was she so scared of him? Weren't they friends?
Andy had no ideas why, and as long as he remained in the dark, he could not help her, his first friend.
He was the only one who could help her. Not her so-called family, not her so-called friends...
He was the only one. His first friend...
Across the city, a deadly battle continued to rage…
"Cactus Tail!" Sunflowmon waved her tail, sending countless sharp thorns towards Phelesmon. The thorns hit the ground around the latter, causing small explosions to go off around him.
Yoshino whirled around to face her comrades. "GeoGreymon, Ginryumon!"
GeoGreymon's eyes narrowed in determination. ""Mega Flame!" he roared.
"Tekkoujin!" Ginryumon joined in.
The fiery arrows rained down towards Phelesmon.
"We got him now!" Masaru declared, just as Phelesmon raised an arm.
The arrows froze in mid-air.
Yoshino gasped. "Im…impossible…" she muttered in disbelief, taking a step backwards.
Phelesmon just made a noise that sounded like something in-between a snort and a chuckle. With a wave of his arm, he sent GeoGreymon and Ginryumon's attacks straight back at them.
"Yoshino!" Sunflowmon screamed as the fiery arrows headed straight for Yoshino, Bill and Masaru.
Ginryumon leapt into the path of the arrows. "Boujinha!" The beast dragon's hard armour became even harder and shinier as it took in the full brunt of the countered attack. The dragon roared in pain as it was sent flying backwards through the air from the blow.
"Ginryumon!" Yoshino screamed as the dragon Digimon landed loudly across the field.
Bill took a step forward. He reached out a hand towards Ginryumon's still figure on the other side of the field. "Wait…" he began in a quietly voice.
Bill never finished his sentence.
"Worthington-san!" Yoshino screamed again as she rushed to Bill's side as the latter fell unconscious. "Hang in there!"
Phelesmon chose that moment to attack.
"Rawwrrr!" GeoGreymon too roared in pain as Phelesmon swung his red trident at him, slashing the dinosaur Digimon across the chest.
"GeoGreymon!" Masaru shouted as his large follower fell to his knees for the second time that night. The Japanese turned to glare at Phelesmon. "Damn you…" he swore. "Damn you!"
"Masaru, no!" Yoshino begged her teammate as he charged towards Phelesmon.
Phelesmon looked up and for the first time, both Masaru and Yoshino got a closer look at the face underneath the cloak of darkness.
Empty white eyes looked back at them.
"Demon's Shout!" Phelesmon shouted his attack to the heavens but to everyone else below, the shout was only the beginning of hell.
The sick ward at Vancouver General Hospital…
The first word out of Andy's mouth as he burst into the waiting room was his friend's name.
"Kat!" Andy screamed. The doctors, nurses, and police officers looked up at him in surprise. However, Andy's attention was on a middle-aged couple standing in the middle of the room.
Marching up to them, Andy repeated his friend's name again. "Kat! Where is Kat?! She's your daughter! After everything she's been through, how could you leave her alone?!"
The woman began to cry, softly at first, but those cries soon became sobs, loud and hysterical. "Why?" she cried. "Why me? Why me?"
"Leah…" the man put a hand on his wife's shoulder to comfort her, to no avail. Sighing, the man turned to look at Andy.
"How could you…?" Andy glared at the man. "How could you leave her alone…?"
The man cleared his throat. "Katherine is my daughter," he explained firmly. "But Simon is also my son. I…we will keep searching for him, for Katherine's sake as well."
"Again with that bastard!" Andy screamed in the man's face. "Who cares if he's never found?! He doesn't deserve any-!"
A slap to his face interrupted Andy. Andy grabbed his red face. Ignoring the stinging pain, he looked up at the man who dared to call himself Katherine's father.
"You…" It was the man's turn to glare at him. "You're the one who doesn't understand anything, Mr. Holland."
Andy's eyes widened in surprise at the man's choice of words to address him.
"You don't know anything…" the man continued. "Because, unlike Katherine, at least you know who you are. At least…at least your parents know who you are…"
Andy closed his eyes, remembering a similar conversation...
"Don't call me that!" A younger Andy snapped at the surprised girl. "I'm Hamasaki!"
The younger Katherine quickly got over her surprise. "Why?" she demanded, her hands on her hips. "That name is a part of you too, right?"
"No, it's not!" Andy shot back angrily. "I…I hate it!"
Katherine's eyes softened. "At least…" she said quietly. "At least, you still know its meaning to you."
Andy's eyes shot wide open. "No, you don't understand anything!" he screamed. "You only care about that bastard! You don't deserve to call yourselves Kat's parents!"
Then, without giving the man or woman or anyone else the chance to hit him again, Andy turned around and ran out of the room.
Elsewhere, the battlefield continues to burn…
"Hunting Cannon!" Centalmon fired at Neo Devimon, who easily dodged the attack once again.
"Moon Night Bomb!" Lekismon's fog of sleep didn't even come close to hitting its target: Neo Devimon's face. The demon Digimon merely blew the attack away with his powerful wings.
"Turbo Stinger! Turbo Stinger!" Waspmon desperately fired in all directions, hoping to land at least a scratch on Neo Devimon's body. Instead, all he did was cause even more damage to the school's grounds. "Turbo-!"
Neo Devimon flapped his wings. "Deep Sorrow!"
Powerful gusts of despair surrounded the battlefield, trapping everyone and everything in a cage of pain.
"Amy, Christina, hang in there!" Roscoe put his arms around the two girls, holding them close, as he tried to ignore the hysterical wails. They were going to drive him to insanity!
Touma grimaced as he tried to keep his footing. "Gaomon, neutralize it!" he screamed over the strong winds.
"Spiral Blow!" Gaogamon's attack launched one wind attack against another. For one short moment, there was silence as the two attacks collided and converged together. And then…
"Touma!" Amy screamed as the painful wind of despair returned, even stronger than before, and blew both Gaogamon and Touma off their feet.
Amy's scream jerked Touma back to reality. As he was sent flying through the air, the truth hit him:
'Too strong…' the genius boy realized. 'Phelesmon and Neo Devimon…even with all of us… we can't… we can't…'
"No!" Roscoe shouted desperately as Gaogamon and Touma crashed headfirst into the ground. "No!"
Back at the hospital…
Andy stormed out of the hospital into the crisp, cold night. Above him, the light of the full moon shone down on him.
"You're just like your father…" Eric Klein's voice taunted him. "But, you probably knew that already."
Andy shook his head angrily, trying to get the professor's voice out of his head. When he finally did, the voice was replaced with more voices, equally bent on torturing him.
"You're the one who doesn't understand anything, Andy Holland," Katherine's adoptive father's voice dripped with menace.
Andy clenched his fists as he continued to walk across the hospital's courtyard.
"Andy Holland?" The teacher looked around the classroom, but no one replied. "Strange. Is there an Andy Holland-?"
A boy stood up, knocking over a chair as he did so, and stormed out of the room.
Andy quickened his pace.
"Andy Hamasaki, you're an idiot." Anna's lips curled up in a smirk.
Andy closed his eyes. 'That's right…' he realized. 'She was the only…Anna was the only one who never called me by that name…'
"Andy Holland…that name is a part of your story. At least…you know your story…" Katherine had told him this many times. Her voice was always sad when she said these words, but each reminder only made him angrier and angrier.
Andy growled as he rounded the corner, not looking where he was going -
He knew he had hit somebody the second it happened. Andy stumbled backwards, and yelped as the pain surged through his body. Out of the corner of his eyes, he saw that whoever he had bumped into was falling. Reaching out blindly, Andy grabbed the person's hand.
"Alice!" a girl's voice screamed from nowhere.
Andy's eyes opened wide as he saw a girl with platinum blonde hair fall into a dark hole.
'What the…?' the boy thought as more visions flashed before his eyes:
Trembling hands glowing with a pink light.
The platinum blonde girl stopped falling in mid-air…
A monster with sharp teeth, dripping with blood…
'What the fuck…?' Andy's thoughts and body were both shaking now.
More pink light, but it was redder now…
An entire building being crushed to the ground, as if the sky itself had fallen on it.
For a moment, Andy returned to the present. As he did so, he got a good look at the full moon shining down on him, and realized that it was now red.
"My name is Plotmon!" the familiar Digimon snapped.
'Plotmon?' Andy repeated. 'Wait a minute…'
A baby crying in the rain.
The back of a woman as she walked away. Everything became blurry, and then there were gunshots…
...
The sounds of a gun going off. Bullets flying through the air. A wall of pink light…
Andy knew this last scene. He blinked twice, returning to the present just in time to stop both he and the other person from falling over. Andy stumbled forward. Looking up, he gazed into the terrified face of his classmate and Plotmon's partner.
"Phoebe Yang…" he muttered.
On the hopeless battlefield…
As Touma and Gaogamon struggled to get to their feet, Centalmon, Waspmon and Lekismon prepared for one last shot.
"Hmph!" Lekismon charged in first. "Moon Night Kick!" Her attack missed Neo Devimon, instead causing the ground to shake again, but the Beast Man Digimon persisted on. Lekismon jumped into the air again. "Moon Night Kick!"
Centalmon watched Neo Devimon closely as the latter continued to dodge Lekismon's kicks by moving around. The centaur Digimon raised his arm. Finally, Neo Devimon was within firing range.
"Hunting Cannon!"
"What?" A surprised Neo Devimon barely dodged the powerful laser beam as it came at him from behind. Then, a shadow appeared over him.
"Bear Buster!" Waspmon shouted, not giving Neo Devimon any time to turn around and see who was attacking him.
For the second time that night, someone managed to land a hit on the demon Digimon.
Roscoe lifted his head as Neo Devimon's winds of despair died down. "Did they do it?!" the older boy asked impatiently. He peered into the smoke screen that Waspmon's attack had caused, but saw no sign of movement from Neo Devimon. Roscoe allowed himself to exhale…
Waspmon turned around to face his partner. "Lucy!" he began happily. "I think we finally-!"
"Guilty Claw!"
"Waspmon!" Lucy screamed as a bony arm shot out from the smoke and grabbed the unexpecting Waspmon. "Waspmon!" the girl screamed again as dark energy enveloped the mechanical Digimon.
"Waspmon!" Lekismon gasped as the powerful attack proved too much for her ally. There was a flash of light as Waspmon turned back into Fan Beemon. Lekismon jumped up to catch the smaller Digimon before the latter could hit the ground.
"Lekismon, wait!" Christina screamed, but it was too late. Neo Devimon's other arm emerged from the smoke and grabbed Lekismon as the latter was trying to help Fan Beemon. More dark energy surrounded both of them.
"Damn…" Touma managed to get onto his knees, just in time to see both Fan Beemon and Lunamon dropped to the ground.
"Mas…ter…" Gaogamon winced as he shakily got on his feet. A moment later, the large canine Digimon crumbled to the ground again. "My apologies…Master…" he whimpered as he reverted back into Gaomon.
"This can't be happening…" Roscoe's hands were shaking as he witness Gaogamon's strength giving out as well. Roscoe stared up at the red moon. 'We'll all going to die. Even with our combined strength, we're no match for these two,' he realized. Roscoe closed his eyes.
For some reason, Roscoe thoughts in his last moments were of Plotmon's smirk and Andy's frown.
"Andy…Phoebe…" The older boy opened his eyes, just as Centalmon fell to Neo Devimon's Guilty Claw attack as well. "We need you two…" he whispered to the red moon.
Back at the hospital…
"You…" a frightened Phoebe took several steps away from Andy.
"Hey, are you okay?" After overcoming his shock, Andy saw that Phoebe's face was a sickly grey colour. He reached out a hand towards her, but the girl only pulled away from him. "Are you okay?" Andy repeated. "Is Plotmon okay?"
"Who…who's Plotmon?" Phoebe stammered.
Andy's eyes widened in realization as he remembered. 'That's right… Her memories…' he thought bitterly as he clenched his fists. 'Klein altered them, just like he did with Robert…'
'You…" Phoebe was still staring at him. Her voice was trembling even more than usual. "Is that why…your father…?"
Andy's head snapped up at the mention of the word 'father.' At the sudden movement, Phoebe recoiled from him even more. "What are you talking about?" he asked quietly.
"Before you were born, in Japan, he left your mother…to die?"
Now, it was Andy's turn to shrink back in surprise. "Y...You…H...how?" he stammered. Then, he gasped in realization. "So...those images from before…they were your memories? Does that mean…you saw my memories as well?"
"No…" Phoebe whispered.
"What do you mean-?" Andy began.
"No, no!" Phoebe repeated, louder this time. Andy heard the terror in her voice.
"Hey, calm down!" he ordered. "What are you so upset…?" Andy's question died on his lips as he finally looked down at Phoebe's hands.
They were glowing pink, just like before.
"No, no!" Phoebe was sobbing now. Her glowing hands were shaking as much as her voice. "What's happening to me?!"
"Ruo Lan is not a monster!" a determined Plotmon had defended the horrified girl. "She's just a little bit different!"
'That's right...' Andy realized. 'Phoebe saved me once. However, thanks to Klein and that damn machine, Phoebe is now...'
"Phoebe, calm down!" Andy shouted in a firm voice. He raised a hand towards his crying classmate. "Everything will be…" Andy gasped when he saw his own hands.
They were glowing as well.
Phoebe's sobs ceased as she stared at the blue light covering his hands. "You…you too?" she choked out.
Andy's hands were shaking as he brought them closer to his face. "What the fuck…?" he muttered. The light was the same colour as his hair. He looked up at Phoebe, who was still staring at him. "What did you do to me?!" He suddenly demanded, lunging at her.
Once again, the boy grabbed the girl's hands.
The second their hands touched, a purple light enveloped both of them. Both Andy and Phoebe's eyes opened wide in shock as more visions flooded their minds.
Above them, one by one, the stars began to fade from the night sky.
On a nearby building, facing the hospital…
When all the stars were finally gone from the sky, Alice McCoy finally opened her eyes.
Her friend, the boy with spiky hair and glasses, appeared out of nowhere to stand beside her. "This power…it's even stronger than last time," he observed.
The red moon was slowly fading away.
"Last time, when they stopped that bullet in mid-air, there was a gap when they subconsciously activated their powers," Alice replied. "The boy used his first, which allowed Phoebe enough time to stop the bullet with her powers over air and wind. However, this time, that boy's powers…"
A green light began to creep up on the black sky.
The boy nodded. "For some reason, contact with that girl amplified his previously weak powers so that for the first time, he can see them. You noticed, right? The moment when the moon turned red…was the moment when his illusion began."
The sky got brighter and brighter.
"Yes," Alice confirmed. "Just like last time. However, this time, because they used their powers at the same time, the effects are much stronger. Osamu, the night is…"
Osamu nodded solemnly. "Time is fast-forwarding for the people in this city. It will be morning soon."
A thin strip of yellow light peeked out from over the horizon. Morning had come.
Dawn envelops the battlefield…
After being thrown back from Phelesmon's Demon Shout attack, Masaru had landed on a pile of debris that had been the school behind him. His entire body rocking with pain, the Japanese had almost passed out from the pain when a familiar warmth on his face stirred him wide awake.
"What the…?" he muttered, opening one eye. To his surprise, the sun was peeking out over the horizon, accompanied by a string of purple and red lights.
"Impossible!" Phelesmon actually cringed in horror when he saw the first rays of sunlight.
"It's sunrise already?" Touma realized.
Christina Liu took out her cellphone. "7:14…" she muttered, staring at the time on the screen. "We've been battling for the past 12 hours?" she whispered in disbelief.
A small ray of sunlight hit a broken piece of glass on the field. Neo Devimon yelped in pain as the light reflected off the shiny surface, hitting him straight in the chest.
"Sunlight…" Yoshino muttered as both Neo Devimon and Phelesmon retreated to the far side of the field, where there were still some shadows from the trees from the woods behind the school. "That's it!" she suddenly yelped. "Sunflowmon!"
Sunflowmon, the only Adult-level Digimon remaining, stood up. Basking in the dawn's light, the plant Digimon felt her strength returning. "I understand, Yoshino!" she barked. Her face, and the petals surrounding it, flashed with light. "Sunshine Explosion!"
"Way to go!" Masaru cheered his teammate on as countless rays of sunlight rained down on the field, removing any remaining shadows that were large enough to shelter a Digimon. Masaru turned to Neo Devimon and Phelesmon, who were now cowering together underneath a tree. "It's your turn!" The Japanese declared, just as warm sunlight flooded the field.
The light burned away at the edges of Phelesmon's cloak as he raised his trident. "Farewell, human," he said quietly. "We will meet again."
"Wha…Hey!" Masaru's surprise was quickly replaced by disbelief and anger as a portal appeared behind Phelesmon and Neo Devimon. "Don't you dare retreat now, you cowards!" he demanded, but to no avail. The two demon Digimon walked into the portal. "Come back and fight! Damn you!" Masaru screamed as the portal disappeared.
Roscoe felt his legs gave way underneath him. "We're alive…" he whispered. "Somehow…"
Masaru stamped his feet. "Cowards!" He was still seething over Phelesmon and Neo Devimon's retreat. "I'm going after them!" he announced.
"Wait, Masaru!" Touma shouted after his teammate. "You don't even know where they are!"
Before Masaru could give a reply, Professor Eric Klein stepped out from behind a tree.
Masaru skidded to a stop. "Move!" he screamed in the professor's face.
"Bokomon," Klein deadpanned, but it was enough. In a flash, the tiny Digimon was back at the man's side. Klein reached into his coat and pulled out a brown and red Digivice.
"I said, move!" Masaru repeated angrily.
"No! Masaru, don't!" Both Touma and Yoshino screamed at the brashest member of their team, but it was too late. Masaru charged towards the professor, his fist in the air…
Before his fist could connect with the professor's face, an invisible force blew Masaru away from the professor. "Ooof!" Masaru grunted as he rolled to a stop.
The bright light of a Digisoul enveloped the professor. "I told you earlier, didn't I?" the professor said quietly as he turned to Masaru. There was no mercy in his eyes. "You and your team will definitely be reprimanded this time."
Touma came up to them. "What do you mean, professor?" he asked.
"I am not your superior officer. Thus, despite your mistakes and disobeying of orders, I could not reprimand the three of you, at least until now."
"Until now?" Touma repeated, narrowing his eyes.
Klein turned to Touma, and the genius boy almost shuddered underneath the older man's cold and hard gaze. "Yes," the professor explained. "DATS leadership had another meeting yesterday afternoon. Your captain, Mister Satsuma, along with your commander and other senior officials, gave me permission to issue disciplinary measures against your team."
Touma let his gaze dropped to the ground. Both Masaru and Yoshino saw their teammate's shoulders slumped, and they feared the worst.
"You should have known better," Klein continued, ignoring the tense atmosphere in the air between them that had only gotten thicker. "Touma H. Norstein, Masaru Daimon, and Yoshino Fujieda…the time has come for the three of you to face the consequences of your actions."
A/N: Okay, fine...Yeah, controlling time, freezing time... they're like the most overused superpowers ever. So, why did I insert it into my story? How did this story ended up looking like it belongs in the fantasy section of the site? Well...long story short...
When I first began my story two years ago, I explained that I wanted to make everything as realistic to real life as possible. This applied to both the characters and the plot. However, as the story progressed, I found out that a Digimon fanfiction dealing with Digimon fighting and conflicts between worlds will always have supernatural forces in it. Looking back at the other Digimon series, I realized that there was always a "magic" there, alongside the "science" of everything digital. This was most prominent in the first two seasons with the powers of the Chosen Children's crest, but the other series had their moments as well. Thus, I finally decided that if this was going to be a rewrite of Digimon Savers, it had to have some of that "fantasy" magic as well, hence Phoebe and Andy's powers, and the appearances of Alice McCoy and Ichijouji Osamu from the previous Digimon series.
So, can a Digimon fanfiction be realistic yet still stay true to its core values? That's what I'm trying to find out here.
Okay, I'm rambling too much. Coming up, the preview for the next chapter!
