Hey guys! One more chapter left after this one :(. Can't believe I'm already almost done with this story. It has been amazing journey. I am so glad that I didn't stop writing after Cory died. I feel like writing and reading has helped me so much. Sorry my updates are slow, school has been keeping me from writing. Finn loves it when Liam calls him Dada. It completely warms his heart in a way nothing else possibly can and just the idea that his son knows exactly who he is, is enough to make him so, so, proud. Liam has learned quite a few words since first learned how to talk, but of course Mama and Dada are his favorite ones. Sometimes there are reasons behind him saying it, like when Rachel comes in to get him up in the morning, or when Finn puts him to bed at night, but sometimes he'll just look up at them and say it.
"Dada." Liam says when Finn picks him up out of his crib one morning
Finn smiles "Morning Buddy, did you sleep well last night?"
Liam smiles. "Where Mama?" he asks.
Finn laughs a little. His son really is a mommy's boy. "She's at work, she'll be home by lunch time, okay?"
Even feeding Liam is still fun, the poor kid is always, always, making a mess of things.
"Oopsies, somebody is making a mess, isn't he?" Finn teases.
Liam just smiles.
"You silly boy, you know what, we should call Mommy, I bet she would want to hear from us, well mostly you, cause you're her little boy."
Finn really isn't surprised when Rachel answers the phone on the first ring .
"Oh, hello Honey, I was wondering when you and Liam would be giving me a call, I've been thinking about you two a lot."
"Apparently Liam has been thinking about you a lot too, after I got him up he just looked at me and said 'where mama?' it was just the sweetest thing, he loves you so much."
"Aww, he's such a sweet little boy I love him so, so, much. Can you put him on the phone and see if he'll talk to me?"
"Of course I can."
Finn takes the phone away from his ear and smiles at Liam. "Hey Little Man, can you say hi to your momma she wants to talk to you."
Liam's eyes light up. "Mama?" He asks curiously.
"Yeah, that's right Kiddo, Mommy's on the phone come say hi."
"Hi Pumpkin, how are you?" Rachel asks Liam.
"Hi Mama."
"Yeah, it's Mommy. You're such a big boy, I'm so proud of you, you're going to be one year old soon. Can you tell me goodbye, I have to finish talking to your daddy now, I will see you later, I love you."
"Bye bye Mama."
"He misses you so much, it's so adorable the way he's always looking for you." Finn tells Rachel.
"I know, I feel like such a horrible mom leaving him home to miss me so much."
"Hey now, would you stop that you are an absolutely fantastic mom, Rachel. Otherwise he wouldn't have any reason to miss you so much when you are at work."
"But I hate leaving him!"
"I know you do, and so do I when I have to go to work, but he loves us, and that's all that really matters."
"You're right, thank you. I have to go, give Liam a kiss for me. I love you."
"I love you too, and I will."
"This is from Mommy. She'll be home in a bit, okay?" Finn says and he gives Liam a small kiss on the cheek and then another one on the head, just for good measure."
Liam plays around on the floor with his toys and then he holds up his little stuffed dinosaur as if to show it to Finn.
"I see it Buddy, that one is your favorite, isn't it?" Finn says and he smiles as he hears Liam giggle uncontrollably.
"What on earth is so funny? Huh, Mr. Giggle box?"
"Dino." Liam says and the grin spread across his face is so huge.
"Yup, that's your dinosaur that you wanted to show me, goodness you are just the smartest little boy in the whole entire world, you are going to take after your mommy, that's for sure.."
"Do you want your lunch now Buddy, I shoud probably give it to you soon because you know how grumpy you get when you haven't gotten your food, huh?"
Liam just looks at Finn like he knows exactly what he is saying to him.
"I'll take that as a yes, let's try not to make too much of a mess, okay Buddy."
A couple of hours later when Liam is down for his afternoon nap, Rachel gets home.
"Hi Babe, how was rehearsal?" Finn asks her.
"Long and boring, I missed you and Liam far too much to be able to concentrate." Rachel replies
"He missed you too, you can get him up from his nap if you want. I'm sure he would like that."
"Ok, how long has he been asleep?"
"Oh, about forty five minutes, it shouldn't be too much longer until he is awake."
"I can't believe that he is going to be one in a few weeks."
"I know! He's gotten so big. It's kind of sad."
"Aww, that is so sweet, you don't want our little boy to grow up."
"Neither do you, but I guess he kind of has to doesn't he?"
"Soon enough he will going to preschool."
"Rachel, do not talk like that! You will make me cry!"
"Sorry Honey, I'll try not to."
"Good, I think he's up. He will be so happy to see you."
Rachel walks into Liam's room and smiles at him. "Hey Cutie Pie, I'm home. Did you miss me? I missed you so much!" Rachel says picking up Liam and kissing his tiny, yet slightly chubby cheeks.
"Mama." Liam says and he's smiling brightly at Rachel.
"Oh, I could never get tired of hearing you call me mama, you are so smart, you are going to do the greatest things when you get older, I just know you are. Now come on Sweetie, lets go sit down with your daddy in the living room."
Finn smiles when he sees Liam. "There's my little man, did you have a good nap, we missed you."
"I think he's going to get a bit more energetic here in a minute."
"Yeah, he always does after a while he is just such a ball of energy."
"I love that about him, he's just such a little ball of energy."
"He's so cute, like I will never ever get over it, ever."
"He starts to look more and more like you every single day, it is just the cutest thing I've ever seen."
"Yeah, he's kind of my twin, isn't he? Except for those big brown eyes, those are all you, that's for sure."
"Yeah, but his cute dimples, those are all you and you know it."
Finn smiles. "Yeah I sure do."
Finn picks up Liam and sets him in his lap, the tiny boy smiling and looking at Finn with those wide, curious eyes that he has had ever since the very day he was born.
"What's up Little Man, why are you looking at me, do you have something you want to say to me, is there something that you want to say to Daddy?" Finn asks smiling widly at Liam.
"Wuv vu Dada." Liam says, his cute smile spreading across his tiny little face."
"Aww Buddy, I love you too. You are just the sweetest thing."
"Oh my god, Finn, that was just the cutest and sweetest little thing, I can't believe our little boy just told you he loved you. This is just absolutely precious, I love you both so much! Rachel gushes.
"I know, I almost cried, he is just getting so big!"
"I know, the other day at work I was looking through pictures on my phone and I came across the one we took the day he was born and gosh, it just seems like such a long time ago."
"I remember when we brought him home and you were just standing there looking right at him."
"It's because I just loved him so much, I still do of course. And you love me too, don't you Liam?"
"Come on Buddy, Aren't you going to tell your Mommy you love her, I know you do, you love her almost as much as I do."
Liam doesn't say anything for a while.
"Come on Liam, you have to at least give Mommy some kisses, come with me ok and that's what we'll do.."
Finn press Liam's tiny lips to the corner of Rachel's cheek. "See, easy wasn't it Liam?" Finn say and he ruffles the dark curls on the top of Liam's head.
"Oh Liam, you are just the sweetest little thing, you get that from your daddy, don't you know." Rachel says smiling.
Finn smirks. "No Babe, he gets that from you."
"Oh he does not."
"Yes he does."
"Mama." Liam says, a very wide grin on his face.
Finn smiles back at his son. "See Rach, he agrees with me. You are the sweet one."
"No you are."
"But Babe, don't you think that you should listen to our son he obviously knows what he is talking about."
"Fine, you win."
"So when do I finally get to bring Liam to see one of your shows?"
"Oh I would say when he is about two or three."
"But Rachel, he's hardly one, he needs to see how talented you are now."
"Honey, I sing for him like all the time, and so do you."
"I bet he likes your voce better than mine though."
"I think it is about even, when I was pregnant with him he would always kick me really hard when I'm guessing he would hear the sound of your voice."
Finn smiles. "I know, I remember."
"I think he's getting a bit sleepy, do you think you could put him into bed for me."
"Of course I can, it's one of my favorite things about being his daddy."
"Thank you, but um, let me give his night time kisses first."
"Of course."
"Goodnight Liam, Mommy loves you, so, so, so much." Rachel says kissing the middle of Liam's, tiny wrinkled forehead.
Finn carries Liam up to bed, gently placing him into his crib.
"Goodnight sleepy boy, Daddy loves you and Mommy loves you too, we both love you so much."
Lim fusses a little, not a cry, just a soft, quiet fuss."
"Shh, you're ok Little Man, Daddy is right here. Just close your eyes and go to sleep, you're fine, there's no need for fussing."
Finally after a few more moments of fussing, Liam finally closes his tiny eyes and falls asleep."
"There you go, Sweet dreams, Buddy." I love you.
