Final Fantasy 13 lightning returns came out. And I've been stuck on it since then. So, this update is a little overdue. Huss owns homestuck, lightning stole my soul from him, reviews are adored. –edited-
You are John Egbert again and you're trying to figure out what you're looking at. The boy floating near the edge of the lake, with a purple streak down the middle of his hair like a skunk, glasses, and what looks like a purple cape. Seriously, who goes swimming in a cape and black sweater? And their glasses?
The person standing next to him is just as strange, wearing reverse 3D glasses, a bumble bee shirt, with huge bee wings jutting out from his back. He's even got what you would swear is a bee stinger on his rear. "Um… friends of yours?" You ask Dave, leaning towards him but keeping your eyes firmly on the two wierdos.
Dave growls low in his throat. "Hardly." He mutters, stepping forward. The two back away from him, the purple one swimming backwards, while the bee boy flutters his wings and hovers over the water. "Eridan. Sollux. Long time no see. I thought you two would have ended up as lunch for the witches centuries ago." He drawls, running a hand through his hair.
He makes a face at his own motion and you realize he's probably missing his hat. But then, the horns would probably make it difficult to wear. "Dave! What are you doing here? I thought the thithters catht you out!" The flying one says, his words embellished with a lisp on every s.
Dave tilts his head. "I'm going home. What's it to you Sollux? Now answer my question, before I decide to rid myself of your irritating presence." The demon blonde takes a small step forward and the other two move back again.
"W-what do you mean?" stutters the swimming male. "You didn't ask any question you just made a statement!" Dave's growl causes him to squeak a little and move back further. "The lake is the territory of the w-water demons! The w-witch tw-wins acknow-wledge this and stay aw-way from us and our hiv-ves!" Eridan exclaimes, swimming further and further away. Sollux the bee boy is glaring at Dave, though even he seems afraid.
What you can't figure out is why they'd be afraid of him. For that matter, why is Dave being so grumpy? When he opens his mouth to reply you decide to intervene. "Wait, you're a water demon? That's pretty cool! So wait, do you have like a fish tail or something? How fast can you swim? Do you have any cool powers? How deep is the lake? How many more water demons are there? Can you breathe under water?"
You rattle off the questions as fast as they come to you and Dave groans slightly, covering his face with one hand. You can see the tiny smirk on his lips though. The flying demon boy looks like he's trying very hard not to laugh and water boy seems absolutely stunned.
"I… um, w-what?" He asks after a few seconds of silence. You open your mouth to ask them all again and Dave covers your mouth.
"You make it very difficult to interrogate people John." He says softly before looking back at the two. "But, I suppose I should give introductions. Eridan is the youngest of the royals of the water demons, and his mother is one of the few demons Dirk and I acknowledged as our equal back in the day. And the flying one here is his… 'friend', Sollux," he smirks on the word friend, "and one of the minor insect demons that inhabit the canyon. Specifically, an Apis Mellifera bee demon. Before you ask, yes he can turn into a little buzzing bumblebee. Boys, this is my human, John Egbert."
You smile and wave while Eridan and Sollux just gape at you. "Hi! So about those questions?"
"John." There's a warning note in Dave's voice and you think maybe it'd be a good idea to shut your mouth now. Even Dave has a limit too his temper and something tells you that you're pushing it big time. Once he's sure you're going to be silent, grinning at him sheepishly, he turns back to the other two. "Now then. Have either of you seen my brother yet?"
The pair exchanged a look and Eridan bit his lip. "Um, no. And I really hope you didn't bring him in here. Though I guess that explains the rew-ward Roxy is offering for his capture, and w-why it's so small…" He says, almost seeming to be terrified of what he's about to say.
Dave's eyes narrow and he steps towards the water again. "What exactly are you talking about? Surely the sisters would offer a reward befitting of demons as impossible to capture as my brother and I. She'd have to motivate you to such stupidity somehow. Please, enlighten me…" Eridan looks terrified and you think Dave is going to be furious with whatever the answer is.
You're not disappointed. "Anyone who can survive your sword skills could catch him. Roxy did something to the canyon and now it saps his strength. From what I hear, it gives her his indestructibility, and leaves him as vunerable… as a… human…" Eridan's face gets paler and paler as Dave's scarlet eyes start to glow brighter and brighter. His expression doesn't change but you can practically feel the rage radiating off of him.
You don't really see what happens next, Dave moves too quickly for that, and the next thing you see, Dave has Eridan in his hand, sword drawn and ready to strike at the terrified demon. And while normally you'd have thousands of questions for the boy with the sea horse body from the waist down, right now you're more concerned with the fact that Dave seems to be a fan of mincing the messenger.
