Shinra sat on the vacant seat that Shizuo normally took. It faced the bed directly and led Izaya to look at him.
"Which means that you've forgiven him and vice versa. Only people who truly love each other can get over being wronged in such grievous ways. You're not a forgiving person but you easily saw that he was not at fault. That alone, Izaya, makes everything very clear."
Izaya narrowed his eyes for a split second.
"My, I'm getting psychoanalyzed. Wasn't that deep and fancy sounding."
"If you want to keep on lying then that's your choice, I suppose. But at least don't lie to yourself."
"Drop it."
Seething resentment made Izaya uncharacteristically laconic.
"I understand that you're freaked out. You may get the best sex in the world and you know all about how 'pathetic' love is but you're clueless about actually being in love yourself. Can't get that from observation nor can your smarts bail you out on this."
For a moment Izaya almost replied snappily.
"Oh, I see. I should simply ask you for your invaluable input on the subject. My, maybe Celty can help me look for wedding dresses? Clearly, there is so much love involved that something like matrimony is in order. I am so looking forward to it. Oh yes. Yay!"
"And now you're just being obnoxious."
"Whatever do you mean? Love makes the world go round! Like…a swivel chair!"
"You're acting like this because you know I have a point."
Izaya laughed. Mostly because he did not want to discuss this any further.
Meanwhile Shizuo was indeed sulking but library duty forced him out of his cell. He was done shelving books and told that he if he wanted to use his internet time he could do so now. His plan was to save it up and get Izaya something like a few hours to browse at will but today he wanted to check out some books. He was also saving money to buy Izaya a book but had no exact idea of what to choose. Which lead him to stare at the computer now, blinking as the screen came alive.
Given how small their living quarters were, Shizuo knew that he had to pick a really good title that would make the space it took more than worth it. Unfortunately, it seemed that Izaya had already read everything. Shizuo wanted to give him something new but his knowledge of literature as a whole was not only limited as full of gaps. He knew the names of a few contemporary authors but that was about it.
Shizuo was torn between surprising Izaya with something he did not yet know or to present him with something he wanted to read but for some reason had never got around to. He began by checking out summaries of writers that he knew Izaya liked. He jutted down notes and followed links. Dragging the mouse was not as easy as Izaya made it seem. The chord was most definitely too short. The tiny arrow kept sliding without his commands and while he had seen Izaya use the wheel like thing, he could not get it right.
To make matters worse he had to look at the keyboard when he typed. It was frustrating. His research was slow and in the end Shizuo still had no clue. He did not know precisely how but he ended up searching for the Kinsey Scale that Izaya had mentioned. A lot of jargon that meant nothing to him but he scrolled down (the wheel was still a challenge so he ignored it) until he saw the scale itself. It looked rather simple and the explanation did make sense.
Shizuo supposed that he was a 1 in the scale. 'Predominantly heterosexual, only incidentally homosexual.' Apart from Izaya he had no interest whatsoever in men and he had firmly believed to be what the scaled attributed a 0, 'Exclusively heterosexual'. It was still odd to think that something he had believed so immediately was not quite right. Then again, he had never bothered to give any thought to such matters. All these gradients had never crossed his mind.

Like Izaya said, it has been contested but the grading system is interesting
