"Alright, girls," Miroku said with a dark look on his face as he swept Sango, Rin, and Hikari away from the massive amount of commotion that had broken out. "Time to go."
"Miroku!" Sango cried in outrage, her eyes wide and furious. "But Kagome-"
"Will be fine," Miroku interrupted with narrowed eyes. "Inuyasha's already on it." He dialed a number on his phone, speaking into it as soon as the person on the other end had picked up. "Time to move. Keep an eye out for anyone leaving in any way. You know the drill; Inuyasha went over it with you already." He hung up abruptly, gaze furious at the loss of his cousin. "Inuyasha thought this might happen. He's still furious, even though he knows his back up plan will work. We've got the highest of the highest trained around here. They'll catch him and follow him for us." He glanced at Rin. "Sesshomaru's one of them."
Rin's jaw dropped. "And the jerk wouldn't answer my phone call yesterday! No wonder..."
"It's alright, Aunt Hikari," he soothed as he herded his aunt towards the parking lot. "We just need to sit back and wait for Inuyasha to get here. Kagome will be okay, I promise."
"She better be," Sango said darkly, her eyes glittering with unshed angry and terrified tears. "If Hiten hurts her, all hell is going to break loose. Inuyasha won't be happy at all. And neither will I."
Miroku grinned. "Trust us, Sango," he reassured. "We've got this handled."
"It's not you that I don't trust," she murmured in response. She sighed, glancing back at the stage with anxious eyes. Police had arrived, swarming around and yelling orders. But nobody was listening. Everyone had begun to panic.
With a sense of sympathy, Sango climbed into the car.

She gave a furious cry as she struggled to free herself of Hiten's grip, not caring about the bruises that she had no doubt were forming. "Let go of me!" she shrieked, ignoring the confused looks they were receiving from people walking by. On second thought... She jerked around, grabbing desperately at someone when they passed. Hiten cursed, but she pleaded, "Help me, please!"
The man she grabbed simply curled a lip and shrugged her off before walking on. Kagome whimpered, then winced when Hiten jerked harshly on her arm. Hiten gave a sneer. "You honestly think anyone will help you, Kagome?"
Kagome winced, twisting again to try and get away at the same time that she avoided looking at him. "I don't know what you want, but you're not going to succeed." She glared at him. "You never do. Remember?"
He tightened his grip and Kagome shrieked when a snap was heard. That managed to earn a few looks their way and Hiten cursed. Ignoring the cry of pain she gave when he tugged on her now broken arm, he dragged her past one more building before ducking into an alley. Waiting in the alley was a running car, a driver waiting for them. Kagome swallowed nervously. Wincing as she was shoved into the backseat, she bit her lip when Hiten snarled, "Drive."
Kagome pressed back as far away from Hiten as she could. As the car began to move, he smirked with a smug look. "Let's see your pathetic dog try and catch up with us now, eh?"
She glared at him silently for a moment, then hissed, "He will. You just watch, Hiten. You'll regret ever even thinking about this plan of yours."
He threw his head back and laughed. "So you think. You should be regretting ever trusting him, shouldn't you? I don't see anybody running after you, do you? No. Nobody's coming, Kagome." He grinned and leaned closer, smirking when she tried to move further back though it was now an impossibility. "You belong to me now."
"No," she retorted, "I don't. It doesn't matter what you say, Hiten, you can want what you can't have all you want. But I am not yours. I am not anyone's." Inuyasha would think otherwise, but that wouldn't help my situation at all... That said, she turned her head away to look calmly out the window, longing for the ability to simply jump out of the car and come out unscathed. It was looking like her best bet at the moment, as it was only going so fast.
She couldn't show her fear. Unlike Inuyasha, he couldn't smell it. He could barely smell better than she could due to the type of demon he was. And she was definitely feeling fear.
Inuyasha wasn't there. Realization struck her like she had stepped out in front of a train. For the first time since she'd gone mute, she found herself in trouble, and Inuyasha wasn't there to help her. Oh, she knew he'd be working to get her to safety. He was beginning to work by now, he should've seen everything.
How to get out of this... She glanced at the door again, eyes narrowing with thought as Hiten began to go on about how she belonged to him, resulting in pausing to think that Inuyasha would've beat the hell out of him by now. Then she silently shook her head clear of the thoughts and focused. She had to do this. She had to roll out of a car. Wonderful.
She waited until the car moved to stop at a stoplight, silently flicking the lock open. Then, without hesitation, as hesitation might be the death of her at this point, she threw the door open and jumped.
People in the street shrieked in surprise as she shot to her feet, ignoring the new and old pain she felt. Hiten's furious roar had her sprinting down the street, pleading desperately that she'd be able to get away. She rounded a corner, panting for breath, and then ducked into the busiest store she could find.
As she doubled over, panting desperately for air, she could feel the strange looks she was receiving. Whimpering at the pain in her now broken arm and staggering from lack of air, she made her way over to a register, exhausted as she pleaded, "Do you have a phone I could use? Please."
The cashier eyed her with concern in his gaze. "Of course. Are you alright?"
"Not really," Kagome admitted as she took the phone from him. She flipped it open, quickly dialing. She held the phone up to her ear, silently praying for the other line to be picked up.
"Uh...hello? Who is this?"
She wanted to cry in relief. "Miroku," she rasped, "It's Kagome."
"Kagome!" he gasped, relief filling his tone. Immediately he began to question above the sounds that had broken out in the background. "Where are you? Are you alright? Is Hiten- wait, how'd you-"
"Never roll out of a car," Kagome muttered, glaring at the wounds that had appeared from her tumble. "It hurts. Especially when you're wearing clothes without sleeves. I'm at a store, busy as hell in here." She glanced back towards the doors...and felt her heart drop, blood running cold.
Hiten was there, searching the crowd. How had he found her?! Desperate, she ducked around the register, cowering beneath it and hissing up at the cashier, "I'm not here, got it?"
The cashier blinked, bewildered, but nodded. "Of course, ma'am." He turned back to acting normal as Kagome whispered, "Please come here, he's here!"
"We're on our way," Miroku said darkly, "One of the men working for us has trailed you. To make it easier for you and us, we've dressed them in rather...ridiculously obvious clothing. Neon, that's all I'm going to say. You'll know when you see him. Find him and stick with him. We're on our way." With that, he hung up.
Kagome silently began to dial in another number, biting her lip. "Could you look for someone in ridiculous neon clothes?" she asked quietly.
The cashier nodded. "Sure," he said warily.
Giving him a faint smile of gratefulness, she held the phone back up to her ear.
"Hello?"
His voice was enraged, upset, and threatening, all at the same time. But she closed her eyes, smiling faintly at the sound of it. Feeling tears prick her eyes, she whispered, "Inuyasha." He would know. He would know immediately.
And he did. "Kagome?" Now his tone was hopeful.
She wanted to cry. "Yeah. I'm sorta okay. Got away for a minute, but he's looking." She bit her lip.
"I'm coming," he said darkly, "I'm on a plane right now."
She smiled. "I know."
And then she was suddenly dragged into the open, the phone falling from her grip as she fought desperately to free herself. A screech of surprise left her lips as a snarl left the still going phone call. "Let me-"
A hand clamped over her mouth. "If you want to live," the owner hissed in her ear, "than shut up and come with me, Miss Higurashi. Because I don't know about you, but I'd rather not face Hiten."
