Finland: Just a minor notice but last Friday was NYC's birthday! Anyway, we just managed to find the letter Latvia was given yesterday and finish this chapter in time.
Iceland: There aren't any pressing questions in the reviews so let's get on with the storyline. Everyone, I present to you Chapter Thirty-Four.
Latvia gingerly took the letter from Lithuania's hands.
"Eh...? But this... it's my own handwriting."
"Go ahead and read it."
"Okay. Um... 'To the me who lives at some point in time, and who isn't alone...'"
To the me who lives at some point in time and who isn't alone...
I finally figured it all out, but sadly I can't pass on this memory to my next self. Too bad, I'm just going to die again...
That's why I'm writing a letter now. Say paldies to Norway for me, okay?
I'd like you to tell them the truth, too. Tell them everything. Of course they'll all get mad at you, but it's not because they hate you or think you're pulling them back.
It's because they have always wanted to help you and you won't let them.
Why didn't you realise that you could rely on your friends? What is making friends for?
That's what they told me and that's probably what they are going to tell you too, if you told them everything.
I'm sure you- uh, I will cry. And then... then...
"Latvia."
"Yes, Lithuania?"
"I've been thinking... about what we're going to do now. What do you want to do, Latvia?"
"Uh... well, finding the keyhole should be our first-"
"Latvia, that's not what I meant. What do you want to do once we escape this mansion?"
Latvia did a double take. "I... I didn't think about that at all..."
Lithuania smiled. "I was thinking that maybe... we could hold a small party, just for the twelve of us. We could take a day off and do whatever we like."
"Oh, could we come?" Ukraine came over with Belarus in tow. "A party would be lovely! Don't you agree, Belarus?"
Belarus huffed in irritation, but she nodded. "Maybe. If you find Russia."
Estonia cut into the conversation. "I know, we could play video games together. Maybe we could drop by Japan's and borrow a few games. It'll be so much fun!"
"That does sound like fun!" Sealand joined in. "I want to play video games with you guys!"
"Ah, I know!" Finland dropped in to offer a suggestion, "We could go to a theme park or something! Denmark's Legoland sounds like a great place to visit."
"Did you guys mention Legoland?" Denmark burst into the growing chat circle. "'Course, I'll give all of you VIP access and take you around the place personally! I'll make sure you guys have the best day ever!"
"Ooh, ooh! Then, could we, like, go shopping afterwards?" Poland interrupted, "I haven't been on a shopping trip for like, ages! I totally missed last season's sale."
"Sounds l'ke a good idea," Sweden agreed. "For someone like you."
"Maybe we could end out day off in Lapland," Norway contributed, "It's the right time of the year to view the Aurora Borealis. I'm sure it would be worth escaping this house for."
"I think I know just the right place to see it," Iceland added. "I can make arrangements for that."
Lithuania faced Latvia again. "You see? That's why we all need to escape this mansion together, with everyone whole and alive. We're friends. We can't live without each other. The world can't live without us. Let's get out of here in one piece, then we can all have fun together. Do you understand?"
Latvia hadn't even realised that he was crying. He wiped his tears away and nodded.
"I understand."
I'm sure you- uh, I will cry. And then... then...
Look around you. You're not so alone now, right?
"Ah... that's right. I..."
"I have many friends... so close to me... Why didn't I..."
Lithuania tapped Latvia on the shoulder. "Latvia? Is something wrong?"
Latvia sniffled. "No, I'm fine. Ah! There's something I wanted to tell you-"
RIIIIIING!
"Ahh! I almost forgot!" Ukraine fumbled around in her pockets. "What are we going to do, Bela?!"
"What do you mean by that?" Belarus snapped, "I have no idea what you're rambling about!"
Ukraine was still searching for her mobile. "I forgot to tell the others I found Latvia..."
All ten trapped nations caught on at the same time. "Wait... the 'others'?"
"Almost everyone who didn't go off rescuing the World Eight," Ukraine explained, "The G8 has gone missing after the World Conference, too!"
"WHAT?!"
Things were getting serious. If the World Eight was missing...
But that wasn't the point.
"Losing the G8 is a really serious matter, right? So a lot of countries went to save them, but I couldn't help but notice that your group was missing too. I asked the leftover countries to come with me to save you!"
There was a moment of stunned silence, which was broken by a small sniffle.
"Ukraine... Thank you."
The phone was still ringing. Ukraine finally found it in her pocket. "Ah! Here it is. I'll put it on speakerphone so you can all hear them."
She pressed a few buttons and set the phone down on the table.
"Hello? Who is this?"
"Hey, ya finally picked up, Ukraine! Didja find the lil' kid?"
Iceland blanched at the voice. "...Pops?"
Ukraine laughed nervously. "Yes Turkey, I found him. The others too! Isn't that great!"
"You found 'em all? That's-"
"Hey! Like, give me that phone now!"
The phone issued a few scrabbling sounds and some angry yells before another voice floated through its speakers.
"You guys can like, hear me right? We brought all of Asia to, like, getcha out of there! Except for that Korea guy of course, he went off to 'save Aniki' or whatever he meant by that."
Iceland was once again the only one reacting, this time with a facepalm. "God... not you too, Hong Kong..."
"Oi! That's my phone, remember? Give it back!"
There was a thump (the phone must have fallen on the ground) followed by a cry of outrage, then a new voice sounded in the phone.
"Give me a moment Ladonia, I want to have a word with them. Hmph, they're all a bunch of idiots... Anyway, Sealand's in there, right?"
The micronation in question perked up. "Is that... Wy?"
"Since we micronations don't have anything to do today, we decided to tag along with the other nations to come get you out of this house. As much as I think you're an idiot, you deserve to be saved from a haunted mansion. Or at least, that's what Seborga claimed trying to convince all of us to come. We're looking for a way into the house so stay safe, alright?"
Sealand nodded, not caring that she couldn't see it through a phonecall. "Alright."
"That's good."
"Can I have the phone now?"
"If you want it."
The phone was passed to another person.
"Hello! Is Lithuania there?"
"Eh?" Lithuania hurried over to the phone. "Is that you, Belgium?"
"Yes! I brought Romania and Bulgaria and managed to convince my big brother Netherlands to come help too! We're trying to get past the front door. Romania says it's magically locked or something."
"Magically locked..." Norway mused, "I see now..."
"Latvia's in there too, right?"
Latvia caught his breath. "Y-yes, I am."
"You poor little thing, having to go through all this scary stuff. We're going to get you out of there as soon as possible. Oh, I know! I can see a window from here. Maybe you can't come out but you can look out of them, right? I'd like to see all your faces again."
The twelve people in the room exchanged glances.
"Man, it's been a while since we've seen anyone other than each other," Denmark remarked, "I bet it'll be nice if we could just see them all outside trying to bust us out."
"I think so too!" Sealand immediately agreed. "I want to see all my friends outside!"
"Then it's decided then," Lithuania concluded, heading for the door. "Let's go see them from the window. Don't forget to defend Latvia since he's being targeted."
"I'll hang up now." Ukraine picked up her phone. "Thank you for all your help! We're on our way."
The group of twelve quickly left the safe room, eager to see the people they never thought they'd live to see again.
Iceland: In case you were wondering, we actually did go through the activities we agreed on in this chapter.
Finland: That was probably the only time I've seen everyone so happy before! Well, I guess if you'd gone video-gaming and shopping right after you escaped a haunted mansion you'd be happy too.
Iceland: Nonetheless, see you next week and don't forget to leave your reviews, if any.
