It that time of year again...

Peak season.

Hell when you work for Amazon.

So many fucking packages...

Why are people ordering so many workout equipment?!

Also, hey guy's. Nice to see you again.

Things have been...better since Kiki's passed, I still get teary eye's from time to time when I think of her, but I've been told thats normal by a few friends who have also lost their pets.

And I would have made this chapter longer, and put it out earlier, but holy shit work has increased. So I've been sleeping most of the time.

...Doesn't help that 90% of the new hires are all terrible at their jobs.

I hate new hires.

So much.

BURGH.

Anyway's, here ya go, and happy holidays!

Because...computer, why won't you accept my love?!

Kagome felt like she had been hit by a truck, picked up and put into a match with a professional boxer, and then got the worst cramps to date.

Oh dear god, is this what a hangover feels like? She wondered while opening her eye's.

"Kagome!" Multiple voices yelled.

"Are you alright?!"

"Do you feel better?"

"Do you need anything?!"

"Are you in pain?!"

What is this heeeeeell?! She internally screamed. "Please...Please be quiet. I feel like my head is going to split in two." she looked around at them, and furrowed her brows. "I had the strangest dream that my sister was here."

Silence.

She looked at them.

Inuyasha was eying the entrance to the hut warily.

"...She was actually here, wasn't she?" she stated more then asked.

"You would be correct." Miroku nodded, he glanced at towards the front briefly, "she was...very angry with what happened to you. Thus she and Lord Sesshomaru set out to find the one who cursed you." He smiled, "And seeing as you woke up and the jewel shard fell out, along with the talisman burning away, I imagine that they are finished and on the way back."

"Kagome?"

Speak of the devil. Kagome thought with amusement, before actually thinking on the saying. That is actually scarily accurate. There is something to be said about a saying fitting one person to perfection. She didn't know what, but it was something.

Kaname walked in, spotted her awake, and quickly made her way over. The elder Higurashi literally throwing Inuyasha out of the way.

Kagome snorted, assuring her sister that she was fine.

She then blinked at what she saw in her sisters hand and froze.

"Kagome?" Kaname questioned, running her other hand through her hair. "What is it? Is something wrong?"

"Thats...a big jewel shard..." Kagome managed to croak out. She, along with everyone else, looked to the elder miko's other hand. And sure enough, there was a fairly large chunk of the jewel in Kaname's hand.

"Hn?" she hummed, then looked down at her hand and snorted. "Ah. That."

Kagome saw Sesshomaru's lip's twitch into a smile.

What the hell? She wondered, "What...?"

"Well, I found the welp who was cursing you. And she had this very big jewel shard, it actually almost looked completed."

Miroku's eyebrows furrowed, "That's impossible, Naraku has almost all of the shards..." his eye's widened.

"So Naraku is behind this." Sango concluded grimly.

"That...doesn't explain how you got that chunk of jewel shard." Kagome stated. Her brows rose at the uncomfortable look on Kaname's face, glancing at Sesshomaru only revealed his growing amusement, making her eyebrows go further. "...Nee-chan?"

She coughed.

"Kaname has no more grounds to criticize whoever had broken the jewel first." Was all Sesshomaru said.

It went silent as everyone thought on what the demon lord said, before Inuyasha broke out in laughter.

"YOU FUCKIN' BROKE IT OFF?! AHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!" He bellowed, clutching his stomach and falling over.

Kaname narrowed her eye's at him in irritation.

Kagome gawked. "You-?! How?!"

"...There was a bug demon that came out of the vermins eye after she was so thoroughly defeated, it was taking the jewel, and I...couldn't reach it with the naginata." She huffed out, cheeks staining red as she avoided eye contact.

Kagome gasped, leaning back, "Y-You used a bow?!" she whispered in horror, vividly remembering the time when Kaname had accidentally shot their grandfather in the ass.

And he had been standing behind Kaname.

"Don't sound so horrified!" Kaname yelled in embarrassment.

"How are you unhurt?!" Kagome questioned the demon lord in awe.

"Hn." Sesshomaru hummed, wondering how bad Kaname had to have been to be getting that reaction out of her sister.

"I-I didn't have a choice!" The elder stuttered a her cheeks flushed even more.

The Lord stared at her. "I must have imagined offering up my services then."

Kaname quickly looked away from him, burying her face into her hands.

Inuyasha still roared with laughter, until a fed up Kaname bodily threw him outside of the hut.

"Honestly, you'd think he would learn by now." Shippo sighed, Kirara agreeing, with Kagome looking skyward as if asking for strength.

Kaname waved her hand, as if brushing the topic off, "Anyway, this is not the reason as to why my Lord and I had come for a visit."

"I admit I was curious as to why you two visited." Miroku confessed.

"I'm glad for whatever reason you had," Sango chimed. "If you hadn't come by, then who knows what would have happened to Kagome."

Kaname nodded her head, eye's staring coldly at the two which made them jerk, "Yes...Lucky wasn't it. That is another thing that shall be discussed, but first My Lord has some questions for Inuyasha."

Said Lord made his way outside towards the hanyou, he gave the silent command for Kaname to stay where she was while he dealt with Inuyasha.

Kagome felt a small stab of longing at witnessing that, she wanted a relationship where she only had to look at her partner to know what they wanted. Well, that may very well be possible. She mused, thinking of a certain wolf leader. She startled at the hand held out to her, making her blink and look at the offered jewel chunk, along with the smaller bag of jewel shards her sister had. "Nee-chan?" she questioned while taking them.

Kaname shrugged, "I have no use for them. And I do not think it is healthy to have so many jewel shards near when one is pregnant."

"You're pregnant already?!" Kagome burst out in shock.

"No." Kaname sighed in disappointment.

Sango raised a surprised brow, "Really? I'd have thought Lord Sesshomaru would have impregnated you by now."

"Please don't say that word." Kagome muttered in horror.

"That is actually another thing I need to discuss with you Kagome." Kaname said, grabbing the younger hands tightly. Once she gained her sister's focus, Kaname continued, "Kagome, I-...My Lord and I cannot have children."

The three looked shocked at the news.

Shippo blinked, "What? Why not? I thought Lord Sesshomaru liked you."

"It is not that." Kaname denied, "It is because of my reiki."

Kagome, while she looked confused by this, looked towards Miroku and Sango when they made an understanding sound. "What?"

"That...makes sense." Miroku muttered with furrowed brows. "A miko's reiki is, first and foremost, a power to purify youkai. And while this would be no problem for Lady Kaname if she had a child with a mortal..."

"She's having a child with Lord Sesshomaru. A full fledged youkai." Sango finished. "Her power could kill the child."

Kagome gasped in horror, turning to look at her sister in distress. "Nee-chan?"

"It is true. And that is not the only problem," Kaname sighed. "You have witness Inuyasha when his life is in danger and Tetsusaiga is far from his person. And you know that it is because of Lord Touga's strong blood that he becomes like that, yes?"

"Will the same thing happen with Lord Sesshomaru's blood?" Shippo questioned worriedly.

"Sadly, yes. But we will figure out a way, just as his father did for Inuyasha."

"...Nee-chan, why are you telling me this?"

"I need your help. We found a way so I could have children, but I need to seal my reiki away-" She ignored the noise of protest from Miroku. "I need a powerful object and a trustful Miko to do it. With my power sealed, I will be able to carry children, but I will be weak and defenseless. A cold could actually kill me in this state, and who knows how long I will actually have to carry as dog demons only need to develop for a few months, while human's need nine." she explained, Kaname then gain a desperate expression, leaning towards Kagome and clenching their hands tighter. "Kagome, my sister, please, please help me have children! Do this for me and I will repay you-!"

"NEE-CHAN! It's ok!" Kagome said frantically when she saw tears gathering. She quickly released her hands and instead drew Kaname into a hug, "You don't need to beg or bargain! Of course I'll help you! Just tell me how and when, and I'll come running over!"

Kaname relaxed, returning the hug, "Thank you."

"I trust," Sesshomaru's voice sounded from the door, gaining everyone's attention as they could hear the threat in it. "This information will not move past these walls."

Kagome looked offended, "Of course not!" She then glared past him to a slightly injured Inuyasha. "Right Inuyasha?" she hissed.

Said hanyou jerked, "Feh." He huffed, crossing his arms and stepping away from a glaring Sesshomaru. "...I may hate the bastard, but I ain't gonna harm his pup's." He grumbled. He was then shoved aside as Rin came running in and jumped onto Kaname.

"Mama~! Papa said it was alright for Rin to come over now." Rin chirped happily, before noticing Kagome. "Hello Kagome-Oba, It is very nice to properly meet you!" She greeted.

"Oba?" Kagome muttered with a sweat drop. "Hello...Rin-chan."

"My LOOOOOOOOOOOOORD!"

"Ah, and there is Jaken." Kaname stated, lips twitching in amusement at Sesshomaru's small huff. "I am actually impressed that he can still talk with how much he yells."

"The wonders of the world." Kagome said dryly.

The two sisters watched as Sesshomaru lifted his foot and crashed in down onto an oncoming Jaken. The imp was still talking, despite his face being pressed into the ground, and they silently gave him point for that effort.

"Jaken is so silly sometimes, neh, mama?" Rin question with a giggle.

"Hn." Kaname agreed.

Sesshomaru had been offered to use one of the empty huts for the night, the demon lord taking the offer as the snow started to fall heavily. It would not due to have Kaname nor Rin become ill, and while the palace would be warm by the time they got there, he knew the limits he could push during winter.

Kagome had gone with them, helping Kaname clean the hut and making it more comfortable for Rin. All the while she was happily asking questions about her reiki, listening as Kaname described what to do to get what effect the younger wanted.

The demon lord himself seemed thoughtful as he watched the sister's interact. Kaname seemed happy to be around Kagome, to be teaching her about their roots, and played with the idea of challenging Inuyasha for the right to have Kagome in his pack.

But then I would also have to fight for the Kit, he mused. He glanced out of the hut opening, seeing Rin playing with Shippo in the snow. It seems the girl has taken over as his parent. And while he had no problem with mortal taking charge of a child demon, he didn't think it practical as the mortal probably had no idea what to do regarding the childs growing powers.

Especially if said mortal didn't know much about what that type of demon are generally able to do.

...Did he want to deal with that?

Did he want to deal with Inuyasha coming after him to get the female back if the Lord won?

His lips twitched downward slightly. He did not, in fact, want to deal with any of that.

He also didn't want to crush any chance of Kagome helping them to have pups over this. If he did win, and Kagome was forced to come along, then the girl could very well refuse to help Kaname. And knowing his mate, she would not push it, she would give up on having pups.

All because she would never lay a hand on her sister, nor would she let anyone else, because she was her kin.

...We may have to see them more regardless. He mused, seeing the glint in Rin's eye's as she stared at Shippo in awe. His eye's then looked to where Kaname and Kagome were watching the children, Kagome suggesting a 'playdate' for the two, and Kaname looking scarily thoughtful on it.

All he wanted was answer's from Inuyasha.

"Have you heard anything from Naraku? Aside from that wench from earlier that is." Kaname questioned, stirring the pot of soup she and Kagome were currently making.

Said sister sighed, pausing in cutting a few herbs, and shook her head. "No, we haven't. It's been...quiet." he brows furrowed as she resumed her task. "We haven't heard a peep from him. Nothing about a white baboon demon, nothing on Spider shaped scars, we haven't even heard about a castle that suddenly appeared. And while it's nice to only have to have a break, Miroku and Sango think that something is going to happen soon. Something horrible."

Kaname pursed her lips, "Yes, someone as...ambitious as Naraku being so quite is worrying. And it did not seem like he was trying when he gave that giant shard to the Dark Miko."

Kagome shivered. She dumped the herbs into the pot and stared into the fire, "Like...He was experimenting?" she questioned hesitantly.

Kaname nodded. "It seems like he was trying to see what, exactly, he could do with it." he eye's narrowed in anger, "I am not happy that he has found out that he could control you through the shards."

"What if..." Kagome started, hands gripping her sleeves tightly, "What if he finds out when you're having the baby's? You won't have any Reiki to fend him off, and that shard is dangerously close to your heart." Her eye's traveled down to it, the shard glowing brightly in her sisters chest.

Kaname paused at that, eye's widening in surprise as she had completely forgotten about the shard in her chest.

"...yes...I see what you mean." the elder mumbled. She put her right hand above where the shard was located, eye's drifting towards where Sesshomaru was currently next to the door. "...That is the thing Kagome, even if Naraku never learns how to control the shard with his own power, I will still be in danger." at her sisters shocked expression, and Sesshomaru's sudden attention, she explained. "Kagome, to get rid of the jewel it must be whole, and for it be whole you need the shards to do so. All of them." she tapped her chest, "I will be in danger, be it from demons who lust for the shards power, Naraku learning about it, or...even your group."

"What? I would never-!" Kagome protested, only for Kaname to interrupt her.

"Maybe not willingly. Kagome, you or any of your pack may not want to harm me for it, but you need this shard to complete the jewel. And yes, there is a possibility of dying since it it close to my heart, but I would rather take that chance and have the jewel destroyed completely then live with a shard and have to constantly protect myself and my children because of it."

Kagome frowned, biting her lip before an idea occurred. "Ah...right. Well...What if...we go back through the well and have mama make an appointment with the doctors? Maybe...maybe we can get it out with surgery?" she suggested, "And have Inuyasha swipe it before anyone looks too closely at it?"

Kaname quirked a brow, "And the cameras?"

"...Well aren't demons, even hanyous, too fast for camera's to catch?"

The skeptical look Kaname gave her said volumes. "Kagome that is a good idea, but maybe we should use the clan doctors for this instead."

"WE HAVE CLAN DOCTORS?!"

Kaname blinked, "Of course we do, they're in the middle of the Clan compound..." she trailed off, trying to remember if she or her mother had ever actually brought her younger siblings to the Higurashi Compound.

Or the estate.

Or the Lands...

"WE HAVE A COMPOUND?!"

Well, that answers that question. Kaname thought in amusement at her sister's flabbergasted expression.

Elsewhere a certain wolf demon stopped in his tracks as he caught the scent of two things, the first being of Kagome and the rest of her pack, and the second being a powerful Inu-daiyoukai traveling through the area. He would have had no problem with this, is it wasn't for the fact that this Inu seemed to be following the same path Kagome and her group had taken.

His eye's narrowed in worry, the only powerful Inu-daiyoukai he knew of was the current lord of the west.

….Who hated humans.

"Shit." Kouga growled, sprinting past his two comrades and praying that he could save Kagome.

Oh shit. Looks like Kouga's gonna meet Kaname!

What will happen? WHO KNOWS!
