Chapter Thirty Six

Let's Find Love

"Yugi Mutou!" Mrs. Mutou called up the stairs trying to get her only son downstairs. She had already made breakfast for the family, but Yugi had yet to show his face. The alarm clock had gone off at its normal time however there was a high chance Yugi may have hit the snooze button again. That habit she thought had been broken since he had started university, but there was a good chance today he decided he wanted to sleep in. "Oh! If that boy is still asleep…"

Armed with her trusty ladle she walked up the stairs and opened the door to her son's room not caring if he was getting dressed or not. "Yugi!" However the sight that meant her was not something she was expecting, her son was sitting cross legged on the floor already dressed for the day with his back to the door. In front of him were all his socks laid out on the floor. "What are you doing…? Why are your socks spread all over the floor?"

"Mom! Don't talk to me right now!" Yugi complained as he continued to give all his attention to his socks. "I'm trying to concentrate!"

Mrs. Mutou continued to stare at her son as he continued to glare at his socks. It was quiet for a few minutes until Yugi made up his mind and picked two of his socks out of the whole bunch. He turned over both and to his happiness he had gotten a pair with hearts on them.

"I did it! Bingo!" He cheered loving that he had won the challenge. He picked up the two socks and started to put them on.

"Yugi… What are you doing?" Mrs. Mutou tried asking again with this blank look on her face. Sometimes her son could act so strange and he either got it from his father or his grandfather.

"This is my sock concentration game. You get a group of identical white socks and draw different symbols on the back of each pair of socks. After mixing up the socks and spreading them out, you use your sixth sense to pick out a pair of socks with the same symbol." Yugi explained to her as he finished getting ready for the day. "I'm training my sixth sense for gaming."

"Why don't you train your mind for school first?" Mrs. Mutou shouted as she hit her son over the head with the ladle. All the men in the house seemed to have gaming on the brain. "Never mind your silly game. Tea came over and she's downstairs waiting on you."

Yugi rolled his eyes as he nursed the back of his head. "Why didn't you tell me that first?" His mother had one hell of an arm and if he knew that was going to happen he would have made sure she didn't catch him playing a game.

"You told me not to talk to you…." She reminded him as she headed back downstairs.

Yugi followed not far behind and as soon as he entered the kitchen he found his grandfather and Tea sitting at the table talking. It had been a few weeks since the Death-T battle and thankfully his grandfather was doing better than ever. He had gotten out of the hospital the week before and it would not be long before he was back working in the game shop. For now the doctor wanted him to relax at home for another week to make sure his heart was not going to give out on him. His mother worked a few hours in the shop to keep money coming in although they had plenty of money thanks to his father's job overseas. Yugi worked the afternoon shift and the weekends to keep the shop open for repeat gamers who loved their little game shop. It made his grandfather happy even if he could not work in the shop for the moment.

However there was a downfall to working so much and going to school. Yugi saw less of his friends and boyfriend. Sometimes Joey, Duke, Tristan, Tea, and Tomoya would stop by the shop and of course Yugi saw them in class so he was not completely without his friends. Sadly it was not the same with him and his boyfriend. Yami became so busy with his brother's company, that for the past few weeks after Death-T he has been doing his college work from the Kaiba Manor in order to be home for his brothers and take care of the company because it needed someone to run it. The only time Yugi ever saw him was just a few days ago when they had a test in one of their classes. Yami had to come to class to take the test, but right after he was gone again. Other than that there were only a few phone calls and texts between the two of them.

It was times like these that really were a test of their relationship, but Yugi was not worried. Once Seto was back on his feet, Yami would be back living with Joey and Tristan along with going to classes with the rest of them.

"Morning Yugi!" Tea greeted her friend breaking Yugi out of his thoughts. "I thought it be fun if I gave you a lift to campus today."

"What about dance practice?" Yugi questioned as he sat at the table to enjoy his breakfast.

"Cancelled at the last minute, but I was already up so I figured it would not hurt to come pick you up." Tea said with a smile, "It will be like old times back in high school."

Mrs. Mutou sighed as she poured her father-in-law another cup of coffee. "I sure miss those days. You kids grow up too fast."

"I have a feeling they don't miss them one bit," Solomon laughed knowing Yugi was not too fond of his high school days.

Yugi groaned wishing he could forget those memories, "I'll take my college classes over high school classes' any day."

"Speaking of classes aren't we supposed to get our test grades from that one class today?" Tea wondered trying to remember if she got the dates right.

Yugi nodded with a smile. "The scores will be posted outside the classroom before class."

Tea looked at him confused, "And why are you so happy? If anyone failed the test it's out there for the whole class to see."

"I'm not worried about my grade and besides Joey, Duke, and I have a little bet taking place about who has the highest score" Yugi said with a grin, "Loser has to buy the winner hamburgers for lunch. I so gotta win this."

Mrs. Mutou rubbed her forehead with another sigh. "Only you could make a game out of test grades." She looked up to her son with a stern look, "You better come home with a B or A, you hear me? You've been doing better since you got into university and I don't want you slacking."

Yugi stood up from the table and placed his empty plate in the sink, "Don't worry Mom, I made sure to study extra hard for this test." He turned to his friend, "Ready, Tea?"

Tea nodded as she thanked Mrs. Mutou for the meal before hurrying out the door with Yugi leading the way. Once they were outside Tea stopped Yugi from getting into the car just yet. "I almost forgot…" She pulled something out of her pocket and handed it over to Yugi, "Have you seen these? All the girls have got them right now."

Yugi held the little keychain device up in front of his face wondering what it was. It was heart shaped with a small screen and only two buttons. "I haven't seen this before. Is this a new keychain game?"

"It's not really a game…" Tea went on to explain, "It's a portable love tester. It's call the Lovely Two. You type in your name, birthday, and blood type. I don't know how the program works, but it creates a special waveform from your personal data, then you go around and press the button. If you press it when you're next to another person with a Lovely Two and they've got the same waveform as you, then both Lovely Twos make a noise like a little bell ringing. When that happens you're supposed to be perfect for each other."

Yugi was taken aback hearing that, "A love tester? I thought you did not believe in stuff like that Tea."

Tea blushed slightly, "I don't but I wanted to have a little fun and test it out with Duke. He wanted nothing to do with it saying if a couple is meant to be they will get together or stay together no matter what some silly test says. I could completely agree with him, but I did not want to get rid of them." She then smiled at Yugi, "So since you and Yami are the only other couple I'm close with, I figured you two might get a kick out of it."

"Don't you need a second device?"

Tea reached into her pocket to show Yugi she had the second device. "If I see Yami again I'll give it to him. Although I have a feeling he probably will think it's silly also. I mean you two are already perfect for each other." She then got a grin on her face as she held up the device for Yami, "How about we see how well we fit together?"

Yugi knew Tea was joking but he put in his data anyway. Once he was done, he hit the button on the device to see if anything would happen. Just as they both thought nothing happened which stated they were not the perfect match. They had known all along they would only be friends due to Yugi being gay and all, so if it had rung that would have been funny.

Tea shrugged as she went about resetting the device she was going to give Yami, "Oh well, I'm perfectly happy with Duke anyway." She said with a wink to Yugi.

Yugi chuckled as he put his device in his shirt pocket. The two then got in the car and headed to campus before they were late for their morning classes.

The class they had the test in was their final class of the day so the group of friends was forced to wait until after lunch to see what their test grades were. The wait became even longer when the strict teacher surprised the class by deciding not to post the grades outside the room until five minutes before class ended. So everyone was forced to sit and listen to the lecture while their minds were wondering whether they passed or not. The teacher for the class, a Mr. Tsuruoka, was a really strict one and it was a tough class to get through. They had no idea how bad it would be when they signed up for the class and once they saw all the work they knew they had a challenge ahead of them. Yugi, Yami, Tea and Tomoya mostly did okay in the course, but Joey and Duke found themselves struggling. Yugi had tried to talk the two into changing classes, but the two were stubborn and wanted to prove themselves.

"Alright class, this time only will I let you out early to see your test grades." Mr. Tsuruoka said after he reentered the classroom and approached his desk. The students wasted no time hurrying out into the hall knowing the grades could pass or fail them in the course. If any student got a horrible grade that just meant they had to work twice as hard in order to still pass the class one way or another.

Due to their being over a hundred students in the class, the group of friends had to wait the other students out since everyone was in a hurry to see their grades. However waiting a little longer did not end up being so bad as Yugi spotted someone coming down the hall toward them.

"Yami!" Yugi shouted as he ran and pretty much tackled his lover, who was dressed rather sharply in a black suit with a red shirt and black tie. It was odd seeing him dressed like that, but it was most likely because of his work with Kaiba Corp. He looked up at Yami with a bright smile on his face, "What are you doing here?"

Yami smiled back just as brightly as he kept his arms tight around Yugi not letting him go, "I got a break from the office and thought I might pick you up from classes. Also I got an email that the grades would be posted today. Figure I would see how bad I did while I was at it."

Yugi slapped Yami's arm playfully, "I highly doubt that, I bet Duke and Joey that you probably got the best grades in the class."

"Oh really, but I'm sure your grade is much better."

"I think I did average and that's enough to get my mother off my back," Yugi joked as he finally broke away from Yami and pulled him back over to their friends where the crowd was finally thinning out. Some students walked away with looks of defeat while others appeared to look somewhat pleased, but still disappointed.

"Yo Yami how's it been?" Joey asked as he waved to the standing CEO of Kaiba Corp.

Yami sighed as he loosen his tie, "Horrible, I don't see how my brother does it. If I'm not fixing problems, I'm signing a thousand things a day that need to be approved. I might just be a little nicer to Seto after this mess."

"Hopefully it won't be for long and you'll be back in classes." Tomoya said to which Yami agreed.

"I would take being in three of Mr. Tsuruoka's classes over being CEO of Kaiba Corp."

Joey laughed, "Don't go saying things like that Yami, it might come true." It was at that point Joey saw that the list of grades had cleared out enough for them to be able to see their grades. "Now's our chance guys, let's get this over with and get out of here."

The group hurried over and they all looked over the list looking for their names to find out their fate. It was after Yugi had gone down the list and saw his friends grades, did Yugi let out a little cheer. "Joey, Duke it looks like you both owe me a burger."

Joey cursed his luck but could not be that upset given the grade he got. "I figured as much, but at least I passed."

"Surprising to us all." Duke said pretty pleased with his own grade even after losing the bet. "I won't ever understand how Yami got the highest grade in the class. I heard rumors that no one could ever get an A on a test from Mr. Tsuruoka." He turned to his best friend asking, "How did you do it?"

Yami shrugged, "Lots of studying and pure luck it looks like."

Thankfully none of them had failed the test with Yami having the highest grade an A, while Tomoya, Yugi, and Tea all somehow got Bs and lastly Joey and Duke got by happily with Cs. It proved Mr. Tsuruoka's tests were not that hard if you put enough studying into it compared to all the other grades which were failing grades.

"Now what could be so fun about test scores?" Mr. Tsuruoka asked as he stepped out of the room after hearing all the cheering.

The only ones still there were Yugi and Yami along with their friends and a few other students talking about their grades. All conversation stopped the moment the professor stepped out of the room to the noise.

"I guess when they say laughter cures pain its true." The professor said with a smug smirk, "I've never seen such a large group of imbeciles this semester."

"What do you mean imbeciles?" Joey shouted with a growl, "We all passed your stupid test."

"You call Bs and Cs passing? If I had any say those would be failing grades too." Mr. Tsuruoka informed them, "As far as I'm concerned if you can't make an A you shouldn't even be allowed to attend this university."

Yugi put his hands in his pockets as he glared at the professor. He hated this guy so much and he wished the school would do something about it. No one should be allowed to talk to students this way.

Mr. Tsuruoka looked down at Yugi feeling the others glare and that's when he noticed something sticking out of Yugi's pocket. Before the smaller teen could stop him he reached out and pulled the Lovely Two device out of Yugi's pocket.

"Hey! Wait…." Yugi tried to say, but he could not stop the professor from taking the device.

"You can't bring games to school you know!"

"It's not a game! Please give it back!" Yugi shouted and last he checked games were not forbidden from the university. This professor was just simply downright cruel and made up his own rules.

"Hey give that back to him!" Joey shouted ready to punch the teacher flat out. "You don't have the right to take people's things because you're a teacher."

"Unskilled slackers like you have no right to talk back to a teacher!" Mr. Tsuruoka laughed as he dropped the device and raised his foot ready to stomp on it. "Education is a noble profession! We teachers have the right to do anything to slackers like you. I could even…" He bought his foot down, "Smash this thing!"

"We have skills! Skills you could never match!" All eyes turned to the new voice causing the professor to freeze before he destroyed the device. It was then the group of friends noticed the change in Yami. He held himself differently and the color of his eyes changed. This was no longer their friend Yami but the other Yami who had come forward once again.

Yugi was surprised by the sudden change, but when he saw the look on the other Yami's face, he knew Yami must have been furious for the other Yami to have come forward.

"I never lose a game! Never!" The other Yami stated keeping the annoying professor's attention on him. He would right the wrong that was done here and get Yugi his gift back.

"Is that so… Then why don't we play a game, eh?" The professor picked up the device again, "The rules are simple, I'll hide this game somewhere in this building and if you can find it within one hour, you win. You get this keychain game back."

"I'll take you on!"

Duke smirked as he stated to the professor, "You're gonna regret challenging Yami." True he knew that his friend was different, but he had no idea the name of the other Yami so it was just easier to think of him as still Yami.

"On the other hand if you don't find it…" The professor added in for good measure and to make things much more interesting, "I'll have you expelled from this university and I'll stomp this little game flat." Once the other Yami agreed to the terms the professor turned to walk away, "The game starts in thirty minutes. I'm going to go hide this keychain until then stay right where you are."

After the professor was out of sight the other Yami lean against the nearby wall and waited. He made no move to talk with the others as he thought up the strategy he wanted to use. The building was not fairly large, but was one of the larger buildings on campus and the professor could hide the keychain device anywhere. It would certainly be a challenge, but one he had to win.

Yugi ignored his friends as they started a discussion about how cruel the professor was and ways they should bring up his behavior to the dean to get Mr. Tsuruoka expelled from teaching there. No he kept looking at the other Yami in a new light. There was this feeling of deja vu when he saw the way the other Yami challenged the professor. He could not explain it but something about this all seemed familiar and he searched and searched his mind for the answers why.

It was like a strike of lightning struck him as a scene of some kind flashed before his eyes. He was no longer standing in the hallway of the building he was just in. The place changed to some kind of ancient hallway with stone pillars and writing on the walls. There was a shadowy figure coming toward him but he felt no fear. Instead he stood where he was as the figure stood in front of him but remained in the dark despite the light from the warm sun around him. The figure reached out a hand revealing what he or she was holding which was a tiara of simple design with a crimson stone in the middle.

"I don't care what anyone else says or thinks… This tiara belongs to you and only you…."

Yugi found himself reaching out for the tiara having no clue what was going on, but having the strangest feeling he knew what this was about. However just as he was about to grab the item, the illusion vanished right before his eyes leaving Yugi standing back in the hallway with his friends. He looked around but it appeared no one had noticed he had spaced out for a minute. Shaking his head of that weird image in his head, Yugi forced his attention back to the challenge at hand. He had to help the other Yami if he ever wanted to see his gift from Tea ever again. It may have been a silly gift, but it was still a gift from his friend and that was all that mattered.

Thirty minutes later and the group was ready to go as they started down the hallway ready to find Yugi's device before the time ran out. Yugi stuck close to the other Yami as they searched the first floor and worked their way up. He wanted to help out in any way he could so that Yami would not get expelled. There was a major possible that would never happen given Yami had so much more power over Mr. Tsuruoka, but just the idea of it was completely wrong. They had to beat Mr. Tsuruoka and show him who the true boss was.

"Hey you don't think he hide it outside do you?" Joey asked as they went up the stairs to the second floor. The building had four floors so it shouldn't be too hard, but they only had an hour to search the whole building for the little device.

The other Yami stood his head, "No, he said the rule was that it would be in this building. If he hide it outside on the grounds that would mean he cheated. A man like him will play fair in order to make sure he wins."

The others were not sure how the other Yami could be so sure, but they had to have faith in him. He appeared to know what he was doing as they continued their search of the second floor. By the time they finished the second floor and were halfway done looking through the third floor minus the class rooms that had classes in them, they only had about twenty minutes left.

"The fourth floor only has offices for the professors of this building." Tomoya pointed out to the others as they finished with the third floor. "I don't think any of the professors would let us look through their offices and most of them are probably locked."

Yugi sighed as he checked his watch. They did not have much time left and they had pretty much looked over the whole building expect places they could not get into. He looked over at the other Yami who still looked determined, "If only we had a way to find out where it is…"

"Wait!" Tea said as her eyes widen and she let out a small gasp causing all eyes to turn to her. She quickly went through her pocket and produced the second device she had saved for Yami. "I was going to give this to you Yami, so you and Yugi would both have one. It's just a silly test of love, but I thought they were cute." She handed the device over to the other Yami. "If you put in your information and press that button I know Yugi's device will ring."

"Tea it's just a silly little game. I doubt it's going to ring." Duke pointed out. He doubted Yugi and Yami believed in love tests, but still if it did not ring it would probably be stuck in their heads that maybe they were not right for each other. Whether they believed it or not they could not take that chance.

The other Yami was not listening to anything as he typed in the information needed. He then grip the device tightly in his hands as he looked up at Tea, "This is just what I need, thank you Tea."

Tea nodded as she watched the other Yami run off for the stairs. She and the others were not far behind not sure why he was going up to the next floor when most of the professors' offices were probably locked.

However when they reached the fourth floor there was only one room Yami headed for and it had Mr. Tsuruoka's name big and bold on the door. The other Yami opened the door with ease finding it not locked at all and a surprised professor sitting at his desk.

"You can't come in here!" Mr. Tsuruoka shouted at them as the other Yami along with his lover and friends stood in the doorway. "No student is allowed in here without my permission. Do you little treasure hunt outside!"

"You just confirmed my suspicions. The pocket game is in this room," The other Yami stated with a smirk.

The professor appeared even more shock before he quickly covered it up with a glare, "You're wrong! The pocket game is hidden somewhere else you can't reach!"

"Somewhere we can't reach…. In other words somewhere we can't touch." The other Yami explained, "I thought hard about where I would hide it if I were you. First I would use the privileges of a professor. Students can't raise a hand to a teacher… they can't even touch a teacher. In other words the safest place is on your own body."

The professor started to sweat only proving the other Yami right even more. "Get this straight!" The professor shouted in a shaky voice, "I'm a teacher, like a god to you. You wouldn't dare touch me with your filthy hands. I'd expel you!" His glare and evil grin returned to his face, "Now what? You can't prove I have it without touching me."

The other Yami held up the device Tea had given him putting all his trust that they would hear the sound they needed to hear. He pushed the button without hesitation and listened closely for the noise that would hopefully ring out in the silent room.

"What's that sound…?" Tomoya asked as they all heard a ringing sound coming from somewhere.

The professor quickly grabbed at his hair showing the group just where the noise was coming from.

Joey and Duke had no problem rushing over to the professor and cornering him realizing the sound was coming from the professor's head. "This much proof you can't say we can't touch you!" Duke pointed out as Joey reached for the professor's hair. It surprised them all when with one pull a wig came off the teacher's head showing that their cruel professor was bald as could be and at a young age too.

Joey looked into the wig and pulled out Yugi's device which was still ringing out, "He hid the pocket game inside his wig…" He said in disbelief.

"Please don't tell anyone my secret…" The professor was almost on his hands and knees begging them. Hard to believe such a tough guy like him was scared of people knowing he was bald.

They all completely ignored his please as Joey handed the game to the other Yami showing that they had won the game. The other Yami turned to Yugi and held out his hand with the device. "Yours and Yami's heart will always be one."

Yugi blushed as he held the device close knowing he was going to be hearing that ringing over and over in his head. No matter what some silly test said he knew Yami was the one for him, but it was kind of nice for a silly test like this to prove it even more.

Yami yawned as they left the campus grounds and headed for the limo that was parked not far from the front gates. Yugi was the only one beside him as their friends had already gone their own way after they found Yugi's pocket game. Once they promised to keep the professor's secret he had let them go and all of them agreed never to speak of it again. Although Yami figured he might have a talk with the dean anyway about the professor's behavior toward students when he finally did return to his classes. However for now he would leave it alone and enjoy the rest of his day. It was nice being able to remember all that happened after the other Yami had taken over. He was not sure he would have been able to defeat the professor in figuring out where he had hid Yugi's device without him. That challenge had been a tricky one and it had also been thanks to Tea for having that second device.

"Are you tired?" Yugi asked Yami as they neared the limo.

Yami nodded trying not to yawn again. "I had to get up early this morning and after the day I've had I'm just ready for bed." He waited as the driver got out to open the door for them and once they were inside he returned to the driver seat. Once Yami told him where to drive, the two sat back and relaxed.

He pulled out the device from his pocket since Tea had said it was a gift and let him keep it. Yami pushed the button again and once again Yugi's device went off causing Yugi to blush. Yami chuckled as Yugi pulled out his Lovely Two to shut it up. "Nice to know we are meant to be."

"You know these things are silly. They probably go off with everyone who has the same blood type." Yugi stated as he shoved the device down in his bag. Yami was making this so much more embarrassing.

"But we have different blood types…" Yami said as he handed his device over to Yugi.

Yugi looked at Yami's inform to see the other Yami had put Yami's info into the device which made sense since the other Yami was simply a spirit with no memories. Of course he wouldn't know his own name or birthday or blood type. It was nice to know it went off because of his and Yami's information…. 'Wait what am I thinking this is silly…' He thought as he gave Yami back the device. "Anyway, I'm glad we were able to get my device back. Mr. Tsuruoka can be so cruel and I don't even see how he is allowed to teach."

"Probably the only job he can get with his attitude." Yami pointed out as he looked out the window.

Yugi watched Yami carefully before he asked the question he had been wanting to ask Yami in person for a while, "How are you and the other Yami?"

Yami sighed, but never took his eyes off the window he was looking out of. "It's weird to say the least, but I'm getting used to it. I've done my own research to try and figure this out more, but I keep coming up empty. So I figure we are probably either stuck together for life or something will come along with all the answers we need."

"So you've talked?"

"Here and there… He is not that strong yet to be able to talk with me for long. Whoever he is, he is a strong being to be able to do things people only wish they could do. I hope I can understand more about him so I can know if he truly is another part of me or not."

Yugi moved over so he could lean against Yami with a smile. "No matter what you find out, I'll always be here for you. You know that right?"

Yami smiled also as he put an arm around Yugi, "Yeah I know and that's what I love about you the most." He kissed the top of Yugi's head before looking back out the window as they neared his home.

Sakura: Yikes! That ended up way longer than I thought it would, but there was so much I wanted to add and not leave out! It never hurts to have some really long chapters every once and a while. Anyway if the professor seemed a little too cruel sorry about that… I wanted to keep with the chapter of the manga, but did not want to make him a counselor, which is what he is in the manga. So I made him a super cruel and strict professor who after this will never return again!

Yumi: Review!
