Chapter 36: Mother and Daughter
Using a locator spell to find Henry, Zelena appeared on the docks in a cloud of green smoke. She was holding a cat carrier in her hand. Inside the carrier was her sister Regina in her form as a black cat. Zelena looked around, but found no sign of her nephew. Suddenly, two clouds of purple smoke appeared near the other end of the docs, revealing Cora and Mr. Gold. Zelena was shocked to find that her mother was holding the Dark One's dagger and wearing Glinda's magic pendant.
"What did you do?" Zelena asked.
"Peter Pan wanted the dagger and I said I'd respect that." Cora said. "Now he's dead. He clearly doesn't need it anymore."
"Where's Henry?" Zelena asked.
"Henry and baby Neal are in this boat next to me." Cora said motioning towards the small rowboat in the water, in which Henry and Neal were sleeping.
"I've come to kill the boy." Zelena said.
"I know." Cora said. "Is that Regina? Why is she a cat?"
"Why not?" Zelena asked. "She'll be whatever I say she is. Why are you both here?"
"We're here to kill you." Cora said. "It's nothing personal dear. You're a threat to me. You always have been."
"I brought you back from the dead." Zelena said. "I have more power than you'll ever have. All I ever wanted was both of your approvals."
"You are powerful my dear." Cora said. "Too powerful."
"Is that really how you want this to play out mother?" Zelena said.
"This is how it has to be." Cora said.
Zelena then put down the cat carrier, unlocked it, and released the black cat inside. Zelena then consumed the black cat in magic smoke and returned Regina to her human form.
"Here's the deal sis." Zelena said. "Your son and the Charming baby are in a boat next to our mother and the Dark One. Help me kill our mother and I'll let Henry live. As powerful as I am, I can't take on both of them while mother has the extra boost from Glinda's magic."
They turned to look at the Dark One and the Queen of Hearts. Both were raising their hands to the sky. Cora was preparing to battle her daughters. Then, a large wave of water rose up behind them. Cora and Mr. Gold then thrusted their arms forward, causing the wave of water to hit the docs and surge towards Regina and Zelena.
"Fine." Regina said.
The two sisters then put their hands forwards, causing the wave to slow down. Then, they moved their arms to the direction of the ocean, causing the water to leave the land and return to the harbor. Regina and Zelena were ready to fight their mother. The two sister thrusted their arms forward, sending a large, blazing fireball at their mother and former magic teacher. Cora and Mr. Gold disappeared in magic smoke to avoid the flaming ball. They reappeared behind Zelena and Regina. Mr. Gold pushed his arm forward, sending Regina flying backwards all the way to the end of the doc. He then disappeared to continue his fight with her down there, leaving Cora and Zelena alone at the other end to face off. Regina stood up only to see Mr. Gold in front of her, but he was just standing there calmly.
"Aren't you going to fight me?" Regina asked.
"My orders are to help your mother kill your sister." Gold replied. "By keeping you out of the way, I am doing that."
"I'm not out of the way." Regina said. "They're right over there."
"And you'll be somewhere else when you take Henry and the baby away." Gold said.
Regina looked down and saw her son and his...uncle laying asleep in the rowboat.
"I can't just leave." Regina said. "I have to get your dagger out of my mother's hands."
"Then what happens to Henry?" Gold said. "Zelena's gang came here looking for revenge. Cora will kill Henry because she knows it will hurt you. She doesn't care about her own children. Why should she care about yours?"
"Nothing good will come from my mother owning the dagger." Regina said.
"There is a way to release me from the dagger's control." Gold said.
"Since when?" Regina sarcastically asked. "You didn't think to mention that when Zelena was controlling you?"
"There's a special magical item that can do it, but I lost track of it many years ago. Now I know it's in Storybrooke." Gold said.
"What is it?" Regina asked.
"The Sorcerer's Hat." Gold said. "It's blue and has magic stars on it. It comes in a little blue box, also with stars on it. You'll know it when you see it."
"Where is it?" Regina asked.
"I don't know." Gold said. "Glinda had it, but she gave it to someone else and I don't know who. You need to get Henry and the baby out of here. Then, find the hat."
Regina looked past Gold to see what was happening with her mother and sister. Cora and Zelena were battling it out. They were throwing fire and chunks of the nearby water at each other. Cora summoned a large ball of water from the harbor and threw it right in Zelena's face. The splash was so intense that it knocked her over. Cora then waved her hand and magically paralyzed Zelena on the ground. Then, she walked over to her. Zelena stared angrily into her mother's eyes.
"I'm glad you took my heart out." Cora said. "It blinded me to what's really important: power. I don't care where you put it. I don't want it back. Goodbye Zelena."
Cora then took the Dark One's dagger and stabbed Zelena in the stomach. As she twisted the dagger, Zelena's body turned to glass. When Cora removed the dagger, Zelena's green body shattered into hundreds of pieces and then disappeared in magic green smoke.
"You have to leave now." Gold said to Regina.
Regina stopped arguing after watching her mother kill Zelena. She had to get her son out of here. She'd have to find the hat later. Regina then waved her arms consuming herself, Henry, and baby Neal in magic purple smoke and taking them away.
Mary Margaret immediately rushed outside her apartment when she looked out the window and saw David and Hook laying unconscious on the ground. She shook David until he awoke, and then she did the same with Hook. She told them that Cora had taken Henry and Neal hostage and that the Queen of Hearts had vowed to take away all her happiness. They then went back inside to the kitchen to decide what to do next, when they realized that Emma and Elsa were missing as well.
"All my children gone in one night." Mary Margaret said as she cried into David's chest.
Suddenly, three clouds of magic smoke appeared. As they cleared, Henry and Regina, who was holding Neal, arrived in the room.
"What happened here?" Regina asked.
Mary Margaret looked up and saw her son. She shouted with joy and rushed to take him from Regina. She felt like she never wanted to put him down again. Henry ran to go hug David.
"Thank you Regina." Mary Margaret said.
"They were at the docs." Regina said. "I have very bad news."
"Tell us." Hook said.
"Peter Pan is dead and so is Zelena." Regina said. "My mother killed her with the Dark One's dagger, which means she now controls Rumplestiltskin."
"Do you know anything about Emma and Elsa?" David asked.
"No." Regina said. "They weren't there."
"What about Jafar?" Hook asked.
"He's still out there." Regina said. "He captured Cyrus. He wants to turn the pirate and Rafi back into genies so he can have his ultimate power again. He said he was going to see Alice."
