Anywhere but here
A/N: The main reason why I was so late with the chapters besides testing is my friend is in the hospital, and I'm really worried about her. I will not provide any more information, not even if you ask. Onto the chapter.
Jodi's POV
Hearing someone knock, I opened it to see my granddaughter twiddling her thumbs. Looking up, she walked in, asking, "Grandma, how come you don't like dad?"
"It's not that I don't like him; he just ruined your ma's life, that's all." I answered, getting a confused reaction.
She shrugged, replying, "Mom seems happy about it, and we wouldn't be here."
I laughed, retaliating, "I'm sure you guys would've been born, just with a different pa."
"So basically you're saying at some point mom would leave dad and remarry."
I shook my head, retorting, "She wouldn't have married him at all. But I would like to know how you were named Maria."
She smiled and sat on the bed, answering, "Dad named me after his friend; he said it made her happy. I wish I could've met her, but dad said she went somewhere far away so we couldn't."
I nodded, picking up on the message that she died. She turned to me, asking, "Why do you think dad ruined mom's life?"
I'm assuming they got this side from Sandy, nonetheless I answered, "He took her away from someone that would love her, and he corrupted her into thinking she loved him."
Furrowing her brow, she retorted, "But they actually do, despite them arguing most of the time. I guess it's just one of those things each couple has, or at least that's what aunt Amy told me."
I sighed softly, and smiled. Somewhat wondering how her eyes are golden, must be a co-dominance thing. "Speaking of which, I haven't seen him since yesterday." I commented, petting her head slightly.
She hummed, about to answer before a gray and black hedgehog came in, greatly resembling him. She grinned, running to hug him, calling out, "Hi, uncle Mephie!"
Looking over at me, he waved, later asking, "Maria, where's your mother? I need to talk to her."
Leaving with him, I heard her say, "I think she's working, and she probably locked the door."
Leaving the room, I exhaled and nearly ran into my eldest grandson. Ruffling his hair, I said, "You need a haircut, kiddo."
He chuckled, replying, "I know, I keep forgetting to ask dad so I planning to ask today, but I can't find him."
I nodded briefly, realizing he might not be here at all. I thought my plan wouldn't work, but by luck he's gone. Walking past him, I went into their room to see Sandy putting on her helmet and suit, muttering to herself angrily.
"Where ya goin'?" I asked, before she walked past me.
She smiled, answering, "Out to find Shadow, why?"
"I was planning on taking the kids to visit the farm since they're almost out of school. Plus your pa does miss you a lot, so I planned to take you too."
"Sure, I don't really mind. I'll be back later." She replied, closing the front door behind her. This is easier than I thought; now all I really need to do is get evidence.
A/N: I'm sorry for the long wait, a lot of things have happened over the week and yesterday. I might post on the last day of school so it'll be a small hiatus. Any questions?
