Walking in Shadows: Waiting for a Ride
"I love pizza," Sirius said before grabbing another slice.
"America is known for its fast food and fat asses for a reason," Xander agreed, ignoring a motorcycle flying through the air in front of them.
"I don't know why you insisted on separate pizzas," Sirius said, watching as an orange skinned girl fired a blast of green energy at another flying girl with orange skin but darker hair.
"And I don't know why you insist on putting bait on yours," Xander replied.
"Anchovies are good," Sirius protested, a hand flicking up to deflect an errant energy blast from a battle droid. "If you tried them, you'd know that."
"I've tried anchovies before and once on a bet (when I was nine) I ate a dead goldfish, the tastes are quite similar," Xander told him.
"So you're saying if a place doesn't have anchovies I can just stop by a pet store?" Sirius asked.
"Pretty much," Xander agreed catching a beeping sphere and setting it on the table where Sirius transfigured it into a snow globe filled with swirling goldfish.
"I'll have to try that sometime just to freak people out," Sirius decided, the battle winding down around them unnoticed.
"Our favorite pizza place is ruined!" a green skinned teen moaned, pulling at his pointed ears.
"Reparo," Sirius incanted, waving a hand and repairing everything within a hundred feet.
"Whoa!" a black teen with shiny metal limbs said as all his cybernetics systems suddenly jumped to perfect condition and efficiency.
"That was a lot of power," a pale skinned girl with a blue gem on her forehead said, her face partially hidden by the all encompassing black cloak she wore.
"Don't mention it," Sirius said cheerfully eating another slice.
"Dude, I'm Beast Boy," the green skinned boy introduced himself offering a hand.
"Xander," the dark haired teen replied shaking his hand as everyone remembered their manners and introduced themselves, including the final two Titans who finished handing over several super powered criminals to the police.
"You're powerful," Raven noted, while Beast Boy made puppydog eyes at Xander and kept glancing towards the pizza he was eating.
"He is, I'm not," Xander disagreed, passing an entire pizza to Beast Boy with a grin.
"Yes you are," Sirius and Raven disagreed.
"Go ahead," Sirius said, waving for Raven to speak.
"I sense a lot of power in you," Raven told Xander.
"I'm not all that powerful, as far as I know," Xander said stacking four empty pizza boxes in front of him and muttering a quick prayer.
The pizza boxes glowed gold for a brief moment and a heavenly chorus could be heard around them. Xander opened up a box and took a slice of fresh pizza out.
"Dude, you can materialize pizza?!" Cyborg exclaimed.
"Summon food and drink is a basic clerical ability," Xander told him cheerfully.
"I didn't know you could do that," Sirius said surprised.
"Neither did I until just now," Xander replied. "Aphrodite is pleased with me and sent me knowledge of it. You're probably sensing my link to the gods."
"Link to the gods?" Robin asked.
"I am a priest of the deities of love and sex," Xander said. "It's a pretty sweet gig, and speaking of sex, who is blue balling you?" he asked Starfire.
"No one is balling me, sadly," Starfire replied.
AN: this one was interesting but I decided to go with a different set up.
Random scene
With Blood on his teeth and smoke rising from his jacket Xander fell to his knees, surrounded by broken and expended weapons and corpses , his wounds taking their toll.
"And so it ends," the large Armored demon said with a grin. "You were a worthy champion, you almost defeated me, but with your death the earth is mine!" his voice echoed around the stadium.
Xander listened to the demon in shock only to burst out laughing until tears came from his eyes. "Champion? ME?" he asked incredulously.
"Yes..." the demon agreed confused.
"I'm not the champion," Xander said forcing himself back to his feet, axe in hand.
"If you're not the champion, what are you?" the demon demanded.
Xander spit a mouthful of blood to the side and readied himself to fight once more. "I'm just a distraction. Our champion was busy elsewhere so I decided to delay you until she was finished."
The crowd of demons watching from the sidelines began to murmur amongst themselves.
"Now come on, I'm not done yet," Xander said resolutely even as he wavered on his feet.
Silence fell as the demonic army stared at the half dead warrior in horror.
The demon cast a truth spell. "And you say your champion is much tougher than you?"
Xander laughed. "I'm no one special, I'm just a normal guy. Our champion, we've got a bunch actually, makes me look like nothing."
The results of the spell were easy to see as the human glowed blue, showing no falsehood had passed his lips. Demons began pouring back through the portal they'd arrived through. The large armored demon didn't say anything as he followed shutting the portal behind him.
"Was it something I said?" Xander asked, confused and probably concussed.
