Summary: My name is Kagome. Since the end of my adventures down the well, I've been living in what one might say was an 'alternate universe'. And maybe that's true...the world I knew, was no longer. I came up through the well of a family I had never met...and was taken in by them. I became a storyteller...a tutor...and the caregiver of the orphans near the outer wall Maria in the city Shiganshina. "To them...I'm just a story teller...but to the kids, it's hope that my words reveal."

Ymir hadn't lingered around to answer that question, she had merely asked one of her own before leaving. Kagome closed her eyes as she thought over that parting question. "Knowing what you think you know...what do you plan on achieving with that knowledge? What do you think you can accomplish?"
"Captain?"
Kagome looked to her left, she was sitting next to Annie, and Levi was sitting on the ground in front of Kagome, her legs on either side of him as she played with his hair. His eyes were shut as her fingers filtered through his hair and trailed over his scalp. "What's up?"
"What will you do?" Annie asked, looking down at her hands in a curious manner, "About Ymir, Berthold...and Reiner...and Eren of course,"
Kagome paused in her hand motions, causing Levi to open his eyes and look up curiously at her as well. "It interesting that you should ask. I honestly don't know what to do, Annie...I just know, that I don't want anyone to get hurt." Her eyes fell to her hands.
Levi lifted his own hands and interlaced his fingers with hers.
Kagome looked up as something breached her barrier, "they are returning, we should start readying the soldiers. I'm going to go and share a word with Erwin, I believe he and Armin are talking in one of the other tents, right?" She looked questioningly at Levi who had come from Erwin's tent about twenty or so minutes ago.
"Yeah, he and Armin are going over the best way to reach Eren's house, Eren is also in there. I already heard the plan, they're just fine tuning it."
Kagome took Levi's hand as he stood and let him pull her to her feet. "Then I will go and bug Erwin,"
"We'll gather the soldiers and start prepping everyone for departure." Levi said as he left the tent.
'I wonder...I hope Erwin doesn't get mad at me, I did just give his top soldier an indirect order...that he followed...' Kagome sighed before leaving the tent after Annie. Looking around, she noted Connie and Jean messing with a titan on the other side of her barrier. Playfully sticking their hands out and then quickly pulling them back as the titans would lunge for them. "I'm not gonna help you if one of them gets lucky and drags your ass out of the barrier."
The two boys jumped and turned to see Kagome standing with her arms crossed over her chest, an agitated look on her face. Connie ran up to her and saluted. "Captain!"
"Cadet Springer, what is it?"
"Um..." Connie looked at her and frowned, as if he was unsure of how to continue, "how is...um, you know..."
Kagome raised a brow, "my arm? It's fine, I don't feel anything any-"
"No...the...the other thing." Connie blushed and dropped his fist from his heart, moving it down to his stomach before opening his hand wide. He looked down at his hand then up at Kagome who had followed his eyes. Quickly he brought his hand back up to his chest and tightened his grip into a fist. "...I just wanted to make sure everything was fine...in that concern."
"...yes...yes it is." Kagome blushed and stepped back, "Kindly keep that to yourself, if you don't mind."
Connie smiled and nodded, "Yes Ma'am!"

Eren looked up as Kagome walked in. He was going over which route would be easiest to get to the Yeager household, or, whatever was left of it. Now that there were huge trees and forestry in the way of what was once a place inhabited by the humans often made into titan fodder.
"Commander Smith,"
Erwin turned to look at Kagome, though his eyes didn't leave the map, finally, he looked her way, "yes, Captain Taisho?"
"Kagome, just call me Kagome." a small nod indicating that he heard her had her continuing on, "The soldiers are starting to prep for leave, two hours have passed, time is ticking. Already soldiers have begun making their return to the barrier, the most of them are already back and taking time to regain their wits before we set out again. Is there anything specifically that you would like said to them?"
"I want your honest opinion on something," he looked to Armin and Eren and dismissed the two of them, waiting till both were out of the tent before moving towards Kagome. "Do you think I'm incapable of leading this regiment?"
Kagome frowned, "sir...I mean no disrespect, but it seems that you are playing a game without all of your pieces. Your opponent seems to know more of what's going on than you do, which leaves you with a gapingly greater disadvantage. You yourself, are a great leader, and if this were a normal war, you would have the upper hand...but it's not, and you don't." She could see he was growing angry from her words, "Let me help you, I can! I know I don't look like it, but I've fought in wars before, and I won! I lost everyone close to me...but I won. This time, I will win and keep everyone alive. You know I have the abilities to, I know I can do this...but you need to trust me!"
"How am I supposed to trust you?" His eyes were expressionless as her just stared her down, those words lingering on his lips.
Kagome looked down at her hands, an annoyed growl slipped past her lips as she kneeled before him, "Consider this my resolve...I will lay my life on the line, for Levi's sake. You trust him...so trust me to protect him!"
"...I see...that's your loyalty. Levi...has always been the one you followed."
Kagome kept her head bowed, it was all she could do. Saying anything more would only serve to anger the man before her, and she had no interest in dealing with feral humans.
"Stand up, we set out in half an hour, whether everyone is present or not. Let them know."
Kagome stood, keeping her eyes closed, she saluted and left. Once outside the tent, she let out a breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding.
"You okay?"
Kagome turned and smiled, "yeah...it's nothing."
"Don't give me that shit!" Levi snapped, slightly irritated after having kicked one of the two idiots taunting the titans, beating him senseless wouldn't be good, so he only kicked him a few times. "I can feel your emotions too, remember?! Lying to me is fucking pointless!"
Kagome frowned, she could feel his emotions too, and he was surprisingly tense. "...we can talk later, I promise."
"Kagome, this is the longest we've ever been outside the walls. The last time we were out this long, Wall Maria was breached."
"..." Kagome smiled, 'He's worried about the civilians...' She took his hand and pulled him out of sight of the other soldiers. Leaning in, she kissed him softly on his cheek, bringing her arms around his shoulders as his own arms wrapped firmly around her waist. He pulled her tightly against his chest before leaning his forehead to her shoulder. "Everything...will be fine. I don't know if anyone is going to die, I can't predict the future, but I can tell you...I will be fine, you will be fine...Hange, Eren, Mikasa, Armin, Annie and even Erwin...will be alright! Do you understand? If I have any say in it, the people here, with us right now, will live!"
The two became blind to the few eyes staring around corners and listening in on their conversation.
Levi kneeled before Kagome on one knee and pressed his lips to her abdomen before standing. Her hand grazing the spot his lips had warmed before she and Levi returned to the soldiers in a contented silence.

"Is that everyone?" Kagome questioned Gunther who gave a silent nod. She took a quick note of everyone present, not many were left after Reiner tore through their ranks at such an alarming pace. Though, some things had been bothering her about the capture. Specifically, the capture itself. She wouldn't mention anything yet though. If she had been truly worried, she would have gone back herself, but Sesshoumaru was more than enough to deal with Reiner. Then there was the crap shifting through the veins of the Titan Shifters, whether they knew it or not. "Listen carefully to my voice! We are all that is left of the fifty-seventh recon mission! With that said, we will not return, we will not retreat! If this ends badly, then place this decision on my shoulders, for no one else would be at fault for the loss of our soldiers, but should we get to the Yeager Cellar and discover the secrets beneath the floorboards of the destroyed Yeager home, we may return victorious yet! If that is the case, than we, the Survey Corps, will have finally made a step forward in history, and will be one more step closer to destroying the Titans! LET'S PAVE A NEW FUTURE FOR HUMANITY!"

The soldiers were placed in three groups, led by Levi, Hange, and Erwin. Erwin was in the center leading thirty soldiers forward, with Connie, and Jean on his left and Armin on his right. The other soldiers were a mix of names Erwin didn't know.
In the Left squad of a ways, was Levi's squad of twenty-eight soldiers, with Eren close to him on his left, and Mikasa and Ymir on his right, and among his mix of nameless soldiers were his own personal Levi Squad, the rest known only by their Military ID's, following close behind.
Finally, Hange led the group to the far right, with Sasha and Annie to her right, and Kagome on her left. Twenty-nine soldiers mixed into her group. "Let's make history...!" Hange cried out excitedly as they came up and found a few titans in their way. "Looks like you and I are up first, Kagome! Ladies, grab hold of our horses and keep the men moving forward!"
"Ma'am!" Annie and Sasha each grabbed the reigns of one of the horses as Kagome and Hange kicked off of their horses and shot forward using their 3D Maneuver Gear. That was the plans set up, having three groups to take care of titans, the center would be mostly free of them, while the side soldiers, a-k-a Levi's group on the left, and Hange's group on the right, took on any oncoming soldiers that came from in front or on the sides. All the while, the soldiers kept on forward.
It was a similar pattern taking place to the left of Erwin, as Levi and Mikasa got rid of the Titans coming in on their side.
"That's it! Shiganshina!" Eren cried out to Levi who twisted in the air and sliced through a Titan before landing on his horse. Eren handed the reigns back over to Levi who looked ahead. The small town could be seen over the slight incline of the hill they were on, and further off, only a bit, the hole where the titans, even still, were coming in from.
"Oluo, Petra, Eld and Gunther, make your way to the hole, anything comes in...you cut it down."
Levi's group was quick to make their way to the hole and stop any oncoming traffic as they did so. Taking a quick glance to his right, Levi noted Erwin giving out similar orders to Jean and Ymir. Hange did the same for Sasha who was quick to depart their side of the scout layout.
"It's coming up just around the next block, or...whatever it is now." Eren looked at the trees sprouting from the once upon a time houses and market stands. Large boulders, massive pieces of trees and parts of houses lay recklessly along the street they were riding up on.

Kagome could almost cry, seeing the house and the well, even in its destroyed state, she felt a warmth fill her up inside. "...We're home..." she gave a chortle at those whispered words, '...my third one at that,'
Jumping onto the destroyed rooftop, she looked over the mess and sighed, "We'll need to start moving the rubble and debris, then clearing out the foliage will take some time too...but...at least we made it."
Erwin nodded, climbing off of his horse before setting up a perimeter around the house before having soldiers start the cleanup portion of their mission. "Let's be quick!"

I know this one took a while, I was having trouble writing this chapter, because the next two chapters were actually finished before this one, and I was trying to make sure I had a clean set up to the next two chapters!
