Chapter 36: The Date
/This story is under the pretense that Run is a successful idol
Previously:
"Now you'll HAVE to come to the hot spring with us!" Momo exclaimed as sparkles could be seen in her perverted eyes.
"Uh oh….." Rito stuttered.
"You promised." Nana added.
"…I suppose there's no avoiding it then."
"YAY!" The twins cheered as they enveloped their fiancé in a hug, to which he happily returned.
Suddenly Rito's phone began ringing in his pocket.
Chapter 36: The Date
"Chotto matte." Rito said as he pulled out his phone and answered.
"Moshi moshi?"
"Huh? Run-chan? What's up?" Rito asked happily.
"Run-chan?" Nana and Momo thought in unison as they stare at their fiancé in anticipation as they tried to decipher the conversation that was taking place. They saw Rito's relaxed face lightening up, then suddenly twisted into an expression of surprise.
"Oh…..ok, I'll be there, ja ne." Rito said as he pressed a button on his phone, signifying the calls end.
"What was that Rito?" Nana asked curiously as her spade tail swished around in the air relaxingly.
"Seems like Run-chan wanted to meet up this afternoon, she didn't tell me why though…." Rito uttered as a question mind figuratively floated above his head.
"Guhehe…" Momo turned around and laughed evilly. "Could Run-chan be… this is a giant step towards the harem plan…. Knowing her, she'll ask him on a date for sure…."
"That's unusual… well! Better not keep the idol waiting." Nana said.
"Ja, I'll be going the-"
"WAIT!" Momo interrupted loudly as pointed a dramatic finger at Rito. "Do you think this is what you're gonna where for a DATE!?"
"Momo what are- D-DATE!? NANI?" Rito shouted in surprise as a blush emerged from his face. "D-d-d-d-date?"
"What are you talking about, Momo?" Nana asked doubtfully.
"There's no time to explain! There's a girl waiting for you, and you're still not ready yet!"
Rito and Nana could only sweatdrop as Momo's purple eyes seemed to burn with passion of the wrong kind, her tail wagging ecstatically.
(Around fifteen minutes later)
"(Sigh), it's finally over…." Rito muttered to himself as he put on a pair of converse by the door. Nana and Momo then each passed him his primary weapon of choice, his twin blades.
"Arigato." Rito said as he gratefully accepted them and strapped them onto his forearm. Those thin rectangular silver boxes concealed at the back of his forearm, then gave them a small test, making sure it was still functional.
"Itte Kimasu!" Rito called as he flipped his hood up…..only to find nothing but air at the back of his head. He attempted to reach towards the back of his head, but felt naught. Nana and Momo could only giggle girlishly at the usually loving but deadly assassin now no smarter than a dog chasing its tail.
Rito, after a few seconds of fumbling, finally came to an embarrassing halt. His face flushed with embarrassment as he realized he was not wearing his usual jet black hoodie, but just a white shirt, jeans and his blood-red belt which hung off at the side of his pants. He then cleared his throat. "This never happened." He said as the Lone Eagle disappeared in an orange flicker, leaving behind a gentle breeze two cans of coke on the floor board and a small note that read 'good job at training'. The girls recovered from their fit of laughter as they retrieved the cans from the ground.
"Do your best, Rito."
(With Rito, twenty minutes later)
It was just a normal Saturday for most Sainan citizens, the ordinary populace were wondering around on the streets below, some were shopping for food, carrying bags around, while the youngsters were running about. The sky was now covered in multiple blankets of white, warm light rays would pass through the gaps of them, partially warming up the earth below.
"Mattaku…. What was Momo thinking, this cannot be a date…." A certain orange haired teen muttered as he leapt through multiple forks of the tall trees above the noisy Sainan traffic. "Feels so strange without a hood, almost like I'm exposed…."
He casually changed directions and with a great jump from a sturdy branch, he landed on the side of an old looking three story building. Rito immediately scaled up the building, but due to its old age, a few chunks of bricks and small rock would occasionally fall off the wall, hitting the ground below. The people, alerted from the danger, looked up the building, but only to find nothing.
"Ah! There's the park." Rito said as he looked towards a crowd of trees.
(With Run)
She stood on the cold stone platform surrounding by railings. Looking around she could see the birds chirping and eating small chunks of bread from the floor. The girl leaned back on the trunk of a tree, shaded by the leaves above. Adorned her was a silver necklace. She also wore a cute light yellow dress which turned to red towards the bottom. The dressed stopped at before the thigh. She had her hands behind her back, between her and the trunk.
"I hope he'll come…." Run thought with a gentle smile as images of Rito popped into her mind. Without warning, a breeze blew from her right, making her light green hair waving gracefully about. When the peculiar breeze subsided, she rubbed her eyes, clearing them of the dust that was swept up into them.
"Boo." A gentle and familiar voice could be heard from her left. She abruptly stood up away from the tree with a jolt and found her love interest leaning on the same tree, just to her left. She smiled excitedly after recovering from the shock.
"Run-chan. What's up?" The assassin asked nicely as he approached the girl.
"Ano…. You see…" Run began as a light blush began forming on her cheeks.
"…"
"…"
"You want me to be your boyfriend for a day!? N-n-n-naze!?" Rito shouted out loud in shock and awe after hearing the short explanation. A heavy blush on his face.
"….Yesterday at backstage, a friend and I were talking about love. I lied and said that I had a boyfriend….. And since we both had a day off, she said she wanted to meet you…."
"Even so, why did you pick me out of all people?" Rito questioned in a comical panicky manner.
"Don't you want to?" The hot pink-eyed girl shakily asked as she tilted her head to the side as her blush deepened. "It wouldn't hurt to be with me once in a while, right?" She continued in a depressed voice. "If you refuse…. Then I'll be seen as a girl who just wants attention." She finished as she wiped an invisible tear from her eyes.
(Ten minutes later)
Rito was now leaning on one of the white tiled column supporting a random shopping mall, his arms folded together and his head looking at his surroundings. He could see the children with their parents happily walking around. One particular child, holding his mother's hand, gazed interestingly towards Rito, who gave the kid a gentle smile in return.
"Ah, she's here," Run said to Rito as she went out on the street and waved her hand excitedly. "Kyouko! Over here!"
"Kyouko?" Rito asked himself curiously as he pushed himself off the column and looked towards the direction of Run. His eyes widened at the figure that stood before them.
The figure had purple eyes and short black hair that reached down to her shoulders. Adorned her was a cute pink blouse with yellow starts decorated on it. She wore a big brown belt, which held her blue jean shorts. The girl had red and pink thigh high socks and a pair of generic converse. "Konnichiwa. Hajimemashite." The girl started as she eyed the Lone Eagle, who was standing behind Run.
"H-hai!" Rito said as he blushed at the other idol before him. "It's Magical Girl Kyouko, in person!" He thought excitedly to himself. Run. "So you're Rito-kun." Kyoko said as she eyed him. "This is the Rito-kun Run has told me about….. He's a lot better looking than I thought…."
"Kyoko! This is my boyfriend Rito-kun!" Run said as she grabbed and hugged Rito's right arm.
"So Run's friend is Magical Girl Kyouko… oh yeah, they appeared together on the TV program, lately they've been singing together too."
"Now, shall we take a stroll?" Run suggested in an adorable voice.
"Mm!" Kyouko replied charismatically.
The day has shifted from cloudy to sunny once again. Two cute looking teenage idols and an assassin could be seen peacefully-but-not-comfortably waltzing down the streets of Sainan City's shopping district. Around the three were shops of all kind, food stands, restaurants, clothes stores, maid cafes. The atmosphere was filled with the combined aroma of quality food, almost every sniff sent mouthwatering sensations down the people's nose. The green haired idol had both her arms wrapped around her 'boyfriend', who was awkwardly trying his best to act like her lover. Kyouko on the other hand casually strolling a bit ahead of them, occasionally looking back at the 'couple' and their interactions.
"Ano…. Is it all right for you two to come out in public like this?" The unusually-unhooded assassin asked the girls worriedly as he suspiciously looked around him. "Both of you are performers after all…"
"Kyouko says that of you act like you have nothing to hide, people don't actually notice you." Run told sweetly Rito, all while hugging his right arm even tighter, to the point where his arm was resting in between her chest, immediately alarmed Rito greatly.
"Ah! D-don't get so close!" Rito stuttered out with a blush, feeling those soft mounds with his elbow.
"It's fine, right?" Run asked, ignoring the poor boy's plea.
"You two are so lovey-dovey!" Kyouko added with a wink, furthering embarrassing the assassin.
"To protect my reputation, I lied to Kyouko, and was unsure of what to do…..then Rito-kun became my boyfriend for a day, which actually turned out to be great!" Run thought as she eyed Rito with genuine happiness.
"Nothing to hide, huh…." Rito repeated inside his mind.
(Even later on)
"Hah!? Kirisaki-san's also an alien?" Rito asked in a dumbfounded fashion as he blankly stared at Kyouko, who was picking up a frog cushion at a random store.
"'Kyouko' is fine. I'm actually half Flame-jin and half earthling." The newly discovered alien then placed the cushion down and snapped her fingers, generating a small flame off the tip of her index finger with an audible 'click'. "My ability to control fire is real."
"So those weren't special effects…." Rito pondered in amazement in his mind.
Kyouko then gave the Lone Eagle a wink "Do you have any secret identity sorta thing like we do?" The flame girl asked jokingly, but the question chilled Rito and Run to the bone.
"Ano…..I…um…..well…..ah…" Rito faltered out. "Could Run have told her I was an assassin?"
"Hehe…..just kidding…." Kyouko added.
The orange haired teen let out an audible sigh of relief. "Oh thank god…"
"If that isn't Kyouko-chuan and Run-chan!" the voice of a fat perverted man exploded as he appeared around a corner, behind the girls.
"P-principal!?" Rito exclaimed in fear.
"The pervert from before!" the Flame-jin added with a sweatdrop.
"This is NOT the time to be wearing clothes!" The Principal of Sainan High screamed out feverishly as he seemingly bounced up three meters high while taking off all his clothes, save for the pink striped boxers. "Please sign my body!" The pervert screamed out as he started to chase the three.
"We gotta run!" panicked comically as he desperately ushered the two performers away from the demented sex pervert. "Crap! Can't do anything irrational here, Kyouko-san might find out."
"This way, in here!" Rito called out as he led the celebrities into an alley way in-between two large buildings. The alley way was dark and damp. Graffiti was tattooed all over the walls, even over the pipes that snaked on the surfaces of the stone walls.
"Run? What's that?" Kyouko asked hastily while running beside her friend, who had a grey hand grenade in her hand.
"It's a Galaxian Pervert Repellent Bomb!" Run replied, now nearly out of breath. "I'll use this-" But the bomb slipped out of her hand like soap and rolled onto the floor. It cracked with purple electricity a few seconds before exploding in a huge purple cloud of smoke. The two girls screamed as they were unfortunately caught in the blast radius. Rito, who was running behind the two, halted from the screaming and the explosion as he witness the blast. The screams of fright then quickly transformed into moans, greatly surprising the Lone Eagle.
"Ano…. You two alright?" Rito called out panicky manner, but dared not to step into the cloud of smoke.
Moments later the purple smoke subsided and Rito was left speechless and completely red faced at the sight before him. In front of him were the two attractive celebrities, their garments clothes were quickly dissolving into nothingness, leaving behind no residue. What's left were two beautiful teenage girls, Kyouko's thigh high socks were now reduced into pieces of torn clothes, but surprisingly both pairs of shoes were intact.
"W-what happened to your clothes?!" Rito screamed as he turned his tomato head sideways instantly. The two girls swiftly covered up their private areas with their arms.
"M-masaka! I mistakenly took the clothes disintegration Bomb!" the green haired girl said, now red in the face.
"Why the hell do you have something like that?!" Rito shouted in a comical manner. Kyouko then proceeded to gasp squat down in fear. "It's c-cold…."
"So this is where you are!" The fat and stubby principal said perversely as he rushed towards the three, with drool hanging from his mouth. He then jumped up two stories high. "Please sign my body!"
"Oh no! I can't generate any fire, I'm too cold." Kyouko thought as she closed her eyes whilst shivering in fear. But despite her eyes being closed, she could feel a shadow over her.
Wordlessly Rito unleashed both his hidden blades and slashed them together in front of him, generating sparks up into the air. The flames made contact with the principal in midair as the man was torched in flames. The assassin retracted his wrist blades and waited for the figure to descend, then delivered a hard upper cut into his wobbly stomach. The man screamed in pain as he was launched a few blocks away from his 'prize'.
"Sugoi Rito-kun! You saved us!" Run said and despite being completely naked, ran up to her 'boyfriend' and hugged him, pushing her chest into his back. Kyouko, who had her eyes shut throughout the whole ordeal, slowly opened her purple eyes and sighed in relief. She then eyed the man who was being attacked by his 'girlfriend'.
"I swore I felt fire moments ago. He saved us in a matter of seconds, the body is not even here. Is he human?" Kyouko wondered in deep thought as she gazed at Rito with a blush.
"I-I'll go buy you two some clothes! You two hide here!" Rito screamed fearfully as he disappeared in an orange flicker before his red-head could explode, momentarily leaving the two girls alone.
(Moments later)
"A guy saw me….completely naked…." Kirisaki-san muttered out as she hugged her legs whilst sitting next to some cardboard box, shielding her from view.
"Gomen ne, Kyouko." Run apologized miserably while looking down on the ground in a kneeling sitting position. "She must really hate me now….."
"Well….. I don't really mind….." Kyouko said with a blush as she remembered her savior. "If it's him, then I guess it's forgivable." She finished offhandedly.
"Eh?"
"Rito-kun's so cute, right?" The flame wielder said with a smile. "His face went so red."
"Kyouko…."
Magical girl Kyouko then turned to her friend "You have to treasure him. He's kind and understanding."
"Um…. Kyouko…..to be honest…." Run tried to explain their relationship but was interfered.
"He's not your boyfriend is he?" Definitively, but understandingly.
"You knew?" Run asked in a surprised manner.
"I found out halfway through, you two were too stiff. I knew straight away."
"Gomen ne-"
"Demo, I'm relieved."
"Eh?"
"Since I don't have a boyfriend either, if Run had one, then… that's why I'm relieved."
"Kyouko….."
"Ne, you like Rito-kun, right?" She asked the Memorzorian, who blushed and nodded shyly at the ground.
"What you like about him?"
"Ano…." In response Run blushed further, imagining Rito in his mind. "He's nice, caring, strong, protective, not to mention an assassin…. But then again I really shouldn't mention it."
(With Rito, on the roof of a random apartment building close by)
At the same time, Rito pulled out his cell phone and dialed the number of Lala. He patiently waited for an answer.
"Moshi moshi, Rito-kun?"
"Hey, sorry to call you so suddenly, you busy at the moment? "
"Not really…."
"Well where are you right now? "
"At your uncle's place."
"Ano….. What are you doing at his place?"
"He wanted to do some further research on the origin of this apple and he needed my help, that's all."
"Can I borrow a few minutes of your time."
"Yeah sure, I'll be there in minute."
"Arigato, I owe you one."
(Even Later on)
"Tell me more about that guy. Is he human?"
"Nani?"
"A normal human can't beat up a man triple his weight and vanish in a blur in front of our eyes."
"Well….he's uh….. Special effects I guess….." Run tried to explain. "Can't tell her about Rito."
"Well, doesn't matter. Next time, I'll support your relationship all the way. Of course, we'll keep this as secret from the manager."
"Kyouko…" Run said.
"Hey!" A long shout called out from the entrance of the alley way. "I manage to contact Lala and got her to come!" He called and closed his eyes, seeing as the two are still naked. And just like Rito said, running beside him was the eldest daughter of Gid, in her dress mode.
"Peke can repair your clothes."
"(Insert high pitch girly squeal) Wow! It's the real Kyouko-chan!" Lala exclaimed in glee as she ran and knelt down in front of the Magical girl. Run however became inwardly irritated at the sight of her love rival.
"I'm so happy! Please be my friend! I really wanted to talk to you!" the genius inventor blurted out in excitement as she fawned over the now sheepish Kyouko.
"Can you just repair out clothes already…." Run deadpanned.
(A couple of minutes later, around 5:30 pm)
"Oh! I'm gonna run late for my performance at 6:10! I have to go now, it was nice meeting you Lala-san, Rito-kun. See you later, Run-chan!" Kyouko chained as she rushed out of the alley.
"Daijoubu Kyouko-chan, I'll take you there!" Lala offered cheerfully as she activated her devil wings and scooped the half-human off the ground.
"Ja ne, Run-chan, Rito-kun!" The voice of the pink head died off in the distance, leaving behind a fully clothed Memorzorian and Yuuki Rito in his black hoodie. (I feel like reminding you guys that his hood is from AC3, but only in black.)
"Well Run-chan, today was….well, hectic…" Rito shyly said whist flipping his infamous hood up with one hand, partly to hide his blush.
Run agreed with a slight 'Mm.'
The two then walked out of the dark alley way stopped in the middle of the road. Most of the stores have closed down and people on the streets were starting to get scarce.
"Please walk me home, Rito-kun." Run requested. "Today went by so quickly…."
"E-eh?"
"Onegai?" Run begged with her puppy eyes tearing up, something she knew Rito couldn't resist, courtesy of Momo.
"I-I get it already, l-let's go." Rito stuttered as he followed the girl down the street. "Who would've thought Kyouko's control over fire was real…"
(Minutes later)
The 'couple' were walking on a road bridge overlooking multiple highways. The glaring yellow sun kissed the distant horizon, making everything seem golden. Run stopped in the middle of the bridge and turned herself towards the sun. Soon Rito followed her example, standing next to her.
"Look, Rito-kun! The sunset's so beautiful…"
"The sunset?" Rito question, now actually paying attention to the sun.
"Yeah. Watching the sunset from Earth always feels so wonderful." The girl explained.
"You're exaggerating." Rito joked, giving off a chuckle. "I'm sure your planet has pretty sunsets too."
"It doesn't."
"Huh?"
"Memorze has two suns, so there's no night. Eighty percent of the planet is a huge, dry desert. It's a pretty severe environment if you ask me."
"No kidding…." Rito replied, half stunned by the revelation, trying to imagine a big light globe in the middle of space.
Without warning Run's legs gave in as she toppled over to the ground. Rito, acting out of instinct, caught her by the waist and pulled her close to keep her from falling, subsequently bring their faces closer.
"Are you alright? You seem pretty worn out…." The boy asked in pure concern.
"D-daijoubu… I guess I'm just tired, that's all." Run said with a weak smile. "What just happened?"
"Let's quickly get you home…." Rito said with a suspiciously excited tone as he lifted the idol onto his back and placed his hands on the backside of her thigh.
"R-rito-kun?" Run stammered out, her face blushing red.
"Hang on." The hooded boy replied with a wink as the two vanished from the bridge in a flash.
(A full hour later)
Up till now Run was having the blast of her life, being given a piggyback ride by none other than her crush whist jumping on the trees and rooftops of Sainan City. She felt relaxed and excited as the wind flew past both their faces, her light green hair thrashing about like wild. Rito was courageously leaping from roof to roof occasionally spicing things up by doing front and back flips, quick turns and speeding up suddenly, surprising the young alien on his back as she laughed and screamed in glee. Looking down Run saw the city in an eagle's point of view. Everything, all her concerns and problems, seemed so distant and far away. But suddenly, she felt a sharp pain all over her body.
"Uah!" She grunted as she dug her fingernails into Rito's shoulders. "What's happening to me?"
"Doushita, Run-chan!?" Rito demanded in panic he landed in the middle of an isolated public park.
