A/N: I'm am so so so sorry about the wait! This chapter was suppose to be up by Friday, but my nieces wanted to spend the night and my plan backfired. Because of this, I plan on uploading 3 chapters this week. I'll try to upload them by Thursday or Friday.

Little Snotlout sneezed in his mother's arms making the women aww at him. "He's so adorable! How can you ever be mad at him when he wakes you up at night?" Ingrid cooed as she watched the baby rub his nose.

"You'll understand when you have your baby." Unn answered the teen.

"Well, I have few more months until then." She replied with a smile gesturing to her bump.

Valka let out a chuckle and put a hand on her shoulder. "Yes, but when you have your baby…you are going to miss sleeping."

"How would you know?"

"I babysat Snotlout two days ago. For a two week old baby, he's got a loud voice."

Unn smiled and raised Snotlout to her lips. "That's because he gets his loud voice from his father." She replied before she kissed the top of his head.

"Let's hope he doesn't complain like this father." Valka added making Unn laugh in agreement.

"Oh hey, don't you have a birthday to celebrate?" Ingrid asked the chieftainess.

Valka smiled and nodded at her. "Yes, yes I do. Stoick's officially 30 today," she announced.

"How's he taking it?" Unn asked her.

"Being 30? I think he's doing fine. Of course I haven't seen him all day, but I don't think turning 30 will affect him that much. To him it's just another day."

"That's so sad. How can you not care about your own birthday?" Ingrid asked her friend.

"Well, to Stoick the people come first and he's last."

"That's what makes him a great chief! Come on Valka, don't tell me you disagree," Unn replied.

"Of course I agree with you! There's no doubt in my mind that Stoick's a great chief. It's just that I worry about him, with the mix of chiefing and the baby."

"It's understandable," Ingrid spoke.

"Yeah, I mean, you have to admire that man for being devoted to the village." Unn added when she put Snotlout in his crib. Valka nodded in agreement, but that's what bothered her. She does respect her chief, but her husband was hardly there.

Stoick let out a grunt as he picked up the pile of fire wood. Many of the men were preparing for the harsh winter to come. Stoick and some men were putting the wood in The Great Hall, while others were preparing for their homes. When he was walking back to the woods to get more wood, Gobber stopped him by calling out to him.

"Morning Gobber, do you need anything?"

"Can I just say hi to my friend? Also welcome him into his 30s?"

Stoick rolled his eyes and patted his friend's shoulder. "Yes, yes, but let's not make it a big deal. I have other things to worry about." He walked off to get more wood, but he stopped again when Gobber stepped in front of him.

"Gobber! I need to get ready for the winter! I'll talk to you later." He explained walking around his friend.

"What about Valka?" he asked watching him walk into the woods.

"She'll be fine; I've got plenty of wood for our house."

"You know that's not what I meant Stoick." Gobber grumbled crossing his arms. Stoick stopped in his tracks and turned around.

"Val understands that I can't be at home all the time. I've been chief for almost four years, sometimes I don't make it home until after supper."

Gobber sighed and walked up to his friend. "I know, I just worry that is all."

"There is no need to worry. Now, do you need any extra fire wood for the winter?"

"I'm fine my friend, you just worry about your family."

"That I'll do." He stated and went off to finish his work.

Valka rested in bed as she felt her child move. She placed her hands on her bump as she stared at the ceiling. She had waited for her husband to come home all day. It was now evening and there was no knowledge of when he would return. She started to wonder if this would keep going on after she had the baby. If it did, then would Stoick even have a relationship with their child? Her thoughts were interrupted when she heard a knock on the door. "It's open!" she called out hearing the door open.

Valka heard footsteps coming towards her, then saw her young friend walking in. "Hey, Valka, how do you feel?" Ingrid asked taking a seat on the bed.

"My lower back is killing me, but other than that I'm fine."

"That's good," Ingrid mumbled. Valka raised a brow and lifted herself up.

"Are you okay?"

"People are going to find out," Ingrid whispered.

"About what?" Ingrid looked down then Valka understood. "Oh…are people talking?"

"There just making comments like 'wow you're really showing' or 'looks like you're going to have a big baby.' They're going to find out!"

"Ingrid, calm down. Just go along with it. If you want to tell them the truth-"
"NO!" Valka raised her hands in surrender.

"Okay, okay, you don't have to tell them, but in four months they'll figure it out."

"And when they do, what will happen to the baby?" Before Valka could answer, the front door swung open and slammed shut. They both heard a groan and a chair being pulled out across the wood floor.

"I better go," Ingrid suggested and walked out of the room to only pass Stoick.

"Oh, I didn't know you were here." Stoick greeted seeing the teen walk by him. Ingrid stopped walking towards the front door, and turned to her chief.

"Umm…yeah, I was just leaving."

"I can see that. Is there anything I can help you with?"

"Uhhh…."Ingrid looked at the bedroom door and back to Stoick. "…yeah, why don't you be with your wife? That will help me."

"Ingrid, that doesn't make any since," Stoick said dryly.

"Oh! Just talk to her!" She cried out running out of the house and slamming the door shut behind her. Stoick stared at the door dumbfounded by what just took place. He wasn't so sure what just happened, but he walked into the bedroom anyway and found his wife leaning against the headboard.

"How long have you been here?" he asked putting an extra pillow behind her back. Valka adjusted herself and leaned down on the pillows.

"Oh, about a few hours, I was getting tired." She explained seeing him taking a seat next to her. Stoick rested a hand on his wife's bump and felt his child kicking. He smiled feeling his baby while his wife breathed a laugh. "What are you thinking?"

Stoick shrugged and moved his hand away from her. "I don't know, I guess I'm just having mixed feelings about this."

"So am I, it's a scary and happy thought, but we've got two months. All we need to do right now is just prepare." She stated smiling down wrapping her arms around her swollen stomach. Suddenly, she winced in pain feeling a sharp pain go down her back. Valka squinted her eyes shut and clinched her teeth trying to pass the pain. Then the pain disappeared, she took a deep breath and started to relax.

"What was that?" Stoick asked referring to her recent action.

"I'm not sure; I have to ask Gothi about it," she suggested.

"Well, now that's done, have you eaten yet?"

"No, and I'm starving!" she raised her arms up to him and he held them. Stoick helped her pull herself up and she was able to get out of bed.

"When are you not hungry?" he chuckled.

"Excuse me?!" She barked narrowing her eyes at him.

"I-I uh, didn't mean like that," he stuttered giving her a nervous smile.

"Yeah sure," she mumbled placing her hands on her hips.

A few weeks later, another pain shot through Valka. Gothi stayed with her while Stoick was out. Seeing that Valka was fine according to Gothi, she decided to wait and see. While Stoick and Gothi weren't around, Unn visited every day and let Valka care for Snotlout.

Valka held the baby as he slept. Unn smiled watching Valka care for her son. "Do you think you're ready?" Valka shrugged keeping her eyes on Snotlout.

"I don't know, were you ready before you had him?" she asked handing the baby back to his mother.

"Not at all, but I had an idea what it would be like. Before my cousin left Berk to be with her husband's family, I took care of their baby. I mean, I only watched her once a week, but I had an idea. Being a mother and watching someone else's kid is very different."

"I guess that's true. I guess-" Before she could finish her statement, a sharp pain shot through her lower abdomen. She hissed through the pain and placed a hand on her stomach. Unn got out from her chair and knelt by her.

"Are you having birth pains?"

"H-how can I be having birth pains? It's too early for that!" With no warning, she felt liquid escape her body. The women stared at each other with wide eyes and Valka's mouth gaped open.

"I'll get Gothi right away." Unn stated and ran out of the house with her baby.
