Previously on Pokémon Black and White, Ash battled it out with Driftveil City Gym Leader Clay. Although, the battle wasn't very close with Ash only winning one out of three battles making him not win the battle and not receiving the badge. Ash plans to beat him the next time, but first the group decided to check out the markets where they found some interesting products. Dawn and May ran into a salesperson who had scheduled a showcase for their coordinating skills which should happen at some point during the journey, but first let's see what happens today.
It was a day ago when Ash and his friends were at the market. Today they have a different plan, right now they are at the Pokémon Center, because that is where they stayed overnight like always, and Ash doesn't want to have a rematch with Clay immediately, because he feels that if he is going to use Sandile, it should be trained first, especially because Clay has Sandile's evolved form Krokorok.
"Hey Ash," said Brock "Here in Driftveil, there is someone who has his own dojo, and anyone can go in for free."
"I say we do it." said Ash.
"Pika!" agreed Pikachu.
"I want my Pokémon to get strong too." explained Nate "So yeah, I'm in."
"I just got a new Pokémon," said Tracey "So I want to go."
"I'm going if Tracey's going." explained Hilda.
"It seems like we all have reasons." said Brock "So let's all go."
The group left the Pokémon Center to go to the dojo. The dojo was located west from the Center. The building looked like a typical Pokémon Gym, but smaller. They went inside and it looked just like a dojo, because that is what it is. There was a person there who was in a Karate gee.
"My name is Edward." he said "I help people train their Pokémon for free."
"Alright Edward," said Ash "I want to train."
"Very well then," said Edward "I will introduce my Pokémon to you."
Edward pulled out two Pokéballs and opened up both of them. The two Pokémon came out, both of them were new to Ash, so he pulled out his Pokédex to receive the data for both of them.
"Throh, the Judo Pokémon," explained the Pokédex "When this Pokémon tightens it's belt, it becomes stronger. Wild Throh use vines to weave their own belts."
Afterward, Ash analyzed the other Pokémon that was standing right next to Throh.
"Sawk, the Karate Pokémon," explained the Pokédex "The sound of this Pokémon punching boulders and trees can be heard all the way from the mountains where they train."
Everyone let out their Pokémon after seeing Sawk and Throh. They were all ready to begin the training with Edward. Although when Hilda let out her Pokémon, her Patrat didn't seem excited to see Edward or his two Pokémon. Patrat looked as if it wanted revenge.
"Is there something wrong with your Patrat Hilda?" asked May.
"I don't know." explained Hilda "He's usually not like this, I'm sorry about that."
Hilda picked up Patrat to see what would happen, but Patrat jumped out of her hands and continued glaring at Edward.
"Hold on." said Edward.
Edward looked at the back of Hilda's Patrat and noticed a black marking. Hilda saw that Edward had noticed it.
"He's always had that." explained Hilda.
"This Patrat of yours was formerly owned by me." explained Edward.
"So why is he upset?" asked Hilda.
"Let me tell you the story." explained Edward.
Everyone listened to Edward as he told the story of Hilda's Patrat. Edward began to have a flashback of his childhood.
(Flashback)
One Christmas morning when Edward was a kid, he opened up a present, and inside was a Pokéball. He had gotten extremely excited about it, so he opened it up and saw a Patrat. He was so happy that he had hugged him.
"Thank you mom." thanked Edward "This Patrat is all I want!"
Edward was too young to be a Pokémon Trainer at the time, but it didn't stop him from just keeping Patrat as a pet. The two of them would do everything together. They played together, they ate together and they slept together. The two had become best friends. A few years went by and his friendship with Patrat continued to strengthen. He had even drawn a mark on Patrat's back to symbolize their friendship. But it all changed on his tenth birthday, when he was finally old enough to become a Pokémon Trainer, he had one gift, and inside there were two Pokéballs. He opened up both of them and was amazed to see Sawk and Throh.
"Aren't these the two you've always wanted?" asked his mother.
"Yeah." said Edward "I can't wait to be a trainer now."
Edward began his Pokémon journey that day, and had brought his new Pokémon along with him. He also brought Patrat with him, but he began to neglect him more ever since he got his two new Pokémon. He began training along side Sawk and Throh and used Patrat as their punching bag. He once had Sawk and Throh play volleyball using Patrat as the ball, and he also would make Patrat have to try and fight for food, which he always failed to do. Many years had gone by, then one day, Edward had no more use out of Patrat, because Throh and Sawk had gotten more powerful, so he released Patrat and never returned.
(End of Flashback)
"And since then," explained Edward "I've had to live with the guilt."
"So that's why he was badly injured when I found him." realized Hilda.
"I released him five years ago." explained Edward.
"And I caught him five years ago." explained Hilda "So yeah, I think it was all you."
"I never thought we would run into each other again," explained Edward "But now, I must give him my apologies."
Edward apologized to Patrat, but Patrat still could not forgive him after what had happened over the years spent with him. Patrat jumped in his face and began scratching him, but the scratches didn't do anything to him. Even though he was immune to Patrat's scratches because of his training, he still felt guilty about abandoning him.
"Hilda," said Edward "Promise to not make the same mistake as me."
"I promise." Hilda promised "I love this Patrat."
"Shall we begin the training?" asked Edward.
"Yeah!" shouted Ash.
"Pika!" shouted Pikachu.
Everyone in the group let all their Pokémon out to begin the training.
"Each of your Pokémon should train with Pokémon who are just as powerful." explained Edward "Ash, I think your Pikachu should train with either my Sawk or my Throh."
"How about we have a double battle?" suggested Ash.
"I like the idea." agreed Edward "Choose your other Pokémon."
"I choose Sandile." decided Ash.
"That's a horrible idea." explained Misty "You just got your Sandile, and not only that, Sawk and Throh have a type advantage."
"I know." said Ash "But I need to raise Sandile, I think he will be helpful against Clay."
"I like your attitude." said Edward "Shall we begin?"
"Yes." said Ash.
Ash and Edward began the battle.
"Pikachu, use Iron Tail on Sawk!" commanded Ash.
"Dodge it Sawk!" commanded Edward.
Sawk dodged Pikachu's Iron Tail.
"Now use Double Kick!" commanded Edward.
Sawk used Double Kick on Pikachu and it hit. Although Pikachu wasn't in much pain from it.
"Sandile, use dig!" commanded Ash "And Pikachu, use thunderbolt on Throh!"
"Throh, use Vital Throw on Pikachu!" commanded Edward "And Sawk, use another Double Kick on Pikachu!"
Edward's plan was to get rid of Pikachu first, so that Sandile wouldn't stand a chance. As the other Pokémon trained with each other, Ash's friends multi-tasked my watching the battle and training their Pokémon with each other. Pikachu was almost defeated after taking both hits, but managed to do some damage to Throh. Sandile then came out from the ground and hit Sawk.
"I don't know if Pikachu will last much longer." said Ash.
"Now Throh," commanded Edward "Finish Pikachu off with Revenge!"
"Dodge it Pikachu!" commanded Ash.
Pikachu dodged Revenge, but Throh tried it again and defeated Pikachu. Ash realized that all he had left was Sandile who was weak to both Sawk and Throh, and both had only taken slide damage.
"I can still do this." said Ash "Pikachu, you did well, take a break now."
"I don't have time for this." said Edward "Sawk, take Sandile out with Karate Chop."
Just as Sawk was about to attack Sandile, a crash was heard in the dojo.
"What was that?" asked Brock.
Everyone had noticed that the ceiling was broken and Team Rocket was present.
"Team Rocket!" shouted May.
"Who?" asked Edward.
"They're part of a gang from the Kanto region." explained Tracey.
"Prepare for trouble!" said Jessie.
"And make it double!" said James.
"To protect the world from devastation!"
"To unite all people within our nation!"
"To denounce the evils of truth and love!"
"To extend our reach to the stars above!"
"Jessie!"
"James!"
"Team Rocket, blast off at the speed of light!"
"Surrender now, or prepare to fight!"
"Meowth, that's right!" said Meowth.
Jessie and James let out Woobat and Yamask.
"I don't think my Pokémon can fight them." explained Edward "I only have fighting types who are weak to both of them."
"We actually have a better idea!" shouted Jessie "James."
James pulled out a ball and threw it on the ground. The ball opened up and spread smoke all over the room.
"Sandile, quick use dig!" commanded Ash.
Sandile dug a hole underground and buried himself in it before the smoke could reach him.
The smoke got everywhere in the room and it had everyone paralyzed, making it so they we're unable to move. Jessie, James and Meowth weren't paralyzed, because they had used a spray on themselves that is immune to the paralysis smoke.
Team Rocket started grabbing hold of every Pokémon in the dojo, so they can steal them.
"Looks like we've won this time." said Meowth.
Team Rocket had snatched all their Pokémon and put them in a net, then they began flying away in their balloon, but just then Sandile came out from the ground and began glowing. Sandile had evolved into Krokorok. Afterward, Krokorok jumped onto the net and bit it open letting out all their Pokémon. Sandile then climbed up to the balloon and attacked Team Rocket causing them to start blasting off. Krokorok jumped back down to the dojo, and it seemed like everything was fine, but there was one problem.
"Patrat is missing!" Hilda screamed.
"Don't worry." said Edward "I'm not paralyzed, because I use that same repellent they used all the time."
Edward saw that the balloon hadn't blasted off yet, and that it was just out of control. Edward jumped to the top of the dojo, then jumped to the balloon and grabbed hold of Patrat. Edward then poked a hole in the balloon causing it to blast off and Edward jumped off with Patrat.
"Don't worry everyone, I can cure your paralysis." explained Edward.
Edward left the dojo and came back minutes later with a spray which he used on them. Their paralysis was gone.
"Thank you for saving Patrat." thanked Hilda.
"You're welcome." said Edward.
Patrat hugged Edward, because he was happy to be saved.
"I think you've been forgiven." said Hilda "Would you like him back?"
"No," said Edward "I think he wants to be with you."
"We never finished the battle." explained Ash.
"You won." said Edward "Your Sandile, who is now a Krokorok saved most of the Pokémon. You are a great strategist."
"Thank you." thanked Ash.
After some more training, the group left the dojo and said goodbye to Edward, Sawk and Throh.
"Do you think we'll ever go back?" asked Nate.
"Probably not." said Ash "Everytime someone asks that, we say we might, but never do."
Everyone else laughed at Ash's reply.
"That's true." said Misty.
"So now that I have Krokorok, I want to get ready for the next gym battle." said Ash "But first, I think we should all heal our Pokémon."
"Good idea." said Brock.
They all walked into the Pokémon Center and as usual, Brock flirted with Nurse Joy and Hilda stopped him.
"You need can stop with that." said Hilda.
"He's not going to no matter what you do." said Misty "You're just going to have to accept it."
Hilda sighed as she handed Nurse Joy her Pokémon, and the rest did the same.
While the Pokémon we're healing, Max walked over to Nate and talked to him.
"Nate," said Max "Can I request something from you?"
"Sure." said Nate "What's up?"
"Can you stop hitting on my sister in front of me?" asked Max.
"I can't promise that." declined Nate "But I will tell you what, I'll flirt with someone else and see what happens."
Nate left to talk to Dawn.
"Hey Dawn," said Nate "Have you and I talked before?"
"We've talked since we first met, but we've never had a solo conversation before." explained Dawn.
"How about we have one right now." suggested Nate.
"Okay." Dawn laughed.
"Would you like to go outside?" asked Nate.
"Sure." said Dawn.
Ash watched as Nate and Dawn walked outside and then he was accompanied by May.
"Why don't we talk." suggested May "We don't haven't had a solo conversation in a long time either."
"You're right," said Ash "Let's find somewhere to do so."
Outside the Pokémon Center, Nate started a conversation with Dawn.
"So, what got you into Pokémon Coordinating?"asked Nate.
"My mom was a famous Coordinator," explained Dawn "And I was inspired by her when I was younger."
"Does it still interest you?" asked Nate.
"Yes," said Dawn "Very much, but I'm becoming interested in finding another career associated with Pokémon as well, I want to see what else is available."
"I'm sure you'll find something." said Nate.
"I know I will." said Dawn "I'm currently debating on a lot right now."
"That's cool," said Nate "What brings you here in Unova?"
"Professor Oak sent us all mail through our Pokédexes telling us that Ash would be here and we all liked the idea of going there," explained Dawn "So he rented a house for us and we stayed there the night before he arrived."
"Did you come here for Ash?" asked Nate.
"For the most part, yes." answered Dawn "I had been missing him a lot since he left and I haven't told you this story yet, but after he left, I was upset, but then I befriended a guy who I was crushing on for a while, but then he turned against me for something stupid, which made me miss Ash even more."
"How often have you talked to him since he got here?" Nate asked.
"Not that much." Dawn explained "I haven't much time to talk to him, because so many people are traveling with us now. He's asked me to talk to him before, and I get nervous whenever he does, because it's been so long and it feels different now that we're older."
"Why don't you ask him to talk to you?" Nate asked.
"Because it's awkward." Dawn explained "Also, Misty and May usually grab his attention before me."
"You like him, don't you." said Nate.
Dawn blushed.
"Calm down." said Nate "I'm joking, unless it's true."
"I need to pee." Dawn replied.
Dawn went back inside the Pokémon Center leaving him outside.
"No you don't" Nate thought as we walked back inside.
May and Ash had finished their conversation and they saw Dawn and Nate walking back inside. May walked over to Dawn and Ash walked over to Nate.
"Where are you going?" asked May.
"I'm just going to bathroom." explained Dawn.
"Can I come?" asked May "There's something I want to talk to you about."
"Can it wait?" asked Dawn.
"Sure," said May "But I'm going with you to the bathroom, because I don't want anyone else to here what I need to tell you."
"That's fine." said Dawn.
May and Dawn entered the bathroom, so they could have their private conversation.
"So what's up?" asked Dawn.
"While you were talking to Nate, I was talking to Ash." explained May.
"Okay." said Dawn.
"And I came to a realization that I like him." said May "So I'm going to tell him that I do."
"Is that all?" asked Dawn.
"Yeah." said May.
"Can you get out now?" asked Dawn "I need to pee."
"Alright," said May "I didn't need to know that, but it gives me a reason to leave."
May left the bathroom and joined Ash and Nate.
"So Nate," asked May "Are you interested in Dawn?"
"Not really." said Nate "I'm not really into the quiet type."
"She's not as quiet once you get to know her." said May "But I understand, she has changed a lot over the past five years, she didn't seem like that at all when I first met her."
"I'm thinking of hitting on Misty." said Nate.
"Go ahead," said May "But let me warn you, she will play hard to get."
"I agree." said Ash "But go for it."
"I will." said Nate.
Later on, everyone's Pokémon we're fully healed, so they all got ready to leave.
"Next stop," said Ash "Driftveil City Gym!"
"Pika!" said Pikachu.
They all left the center and headed to the gym.
And so, Ash's Sandile is now a Krokorok and he feels ready to try again on his gym battle with Clay. At the same time he continues to have something going on with the girls, who knows where that may end up. We'll just have to see on another episode of Pokémon Black and White.
Note: So I've finally updated again after a few months and I've read some of the comments which had may interested. I never thought so many people would be telling me who Ash should end up with. I decided to make this chapter longer, just so you fans out there can stay excited.
