To say that Laura didn't have any social skills was an understatement. She was immediatly overwhelmed by the children rushing her trying to make friends. She acted as if she wanted to lash out against them, but I shooed the children away before she could. I took her to her room that she would be sharing with Rogue. I figured the two would be able to get along and Rouge would be able to somewhat socialize her more without overwhelming the poor girl. Rogue was laying on her bed doing her homework when they walked in.

I introduced the two and Rogue slid off her bed. She wore a pair of gloves a tank top and a pair of shorts with a pair of knee high socks on.

"I was wondering that if it's not too much trouble for you, if you could take Laura under your wing until she gets a little more settled in. We'll also need to take her shopping for clothes. I'd take Kitty, but she's a little much right now."

"I can understand that," Rogue agreed. "I have to admit, when rumors started floating around the mansion that Logan had a kid, I thought they were just full of crap. She looks a lot like you, Kat." Laura lowered her head as if imbarrassed. I smiled at her putting a comforting hand on her shoulder. I felt Laura tense up at the touch, but soon relaxed once she realized that it was just me.

"Get settled in for the day and I'll take you shopping for clothes and things tomorrow." Laura nodded slowly eyeing the pale girl in front of her. I turned and walked to the door where Logan was standing. He never felt comfortable stepping into the girls' rooms even if one of the other adults in the mansion was in there. I stepped to him placing a gentle hand on his chest then glanced back at the two girls. They stood in front of each other akwardly as if neither of them suddenly knew what to do.

I pushed Logan from the room and closed the door to give them a little privacy.

"You sure Rogue is the right choice? Maybe we should bunk her up with Jean." I shook my head at him.

"No, they'll be fine together." I reached up and kissed him on the cheek then grabbed his hand. I decided to lead him down to the living area to watch a movie. It felt so good being able to relax. When we had gotten back from getting Laura, it made me so glad to see that everything was still okay. It made me feel like maybe everything was really going to be okay. There wasn't danger lurking behind every tree, in every shadow. I felt Logan even relaxing more now that I was able to relax.

"I'm in the mood for a good horror movie. One of the ones the kids aren't allowed to know we own." Logan grinned leaning back into the couch to get comfortable. I dug around for it because we always had to hide the movies that only the adults were allowed to watch after the children went to bed. I put the movie in and made my way into the kitchen to make us some popcorn. Hank was in there having a late night snack looking very tired.

"Long day, Hank?" The blue furred man blinked and looked at me as if he had just noticed I had entered the room.

"Yes, quite. It's difficult trying to fill the shoes of a man like the Professor." I hummed grabbing a bag of popcorn and threw it in the microwave.

"Well, since I have you alone, Hank, there's something I would like to ask of you." He took a bite of his snack then waved his spoon at me giving me the go ahead. "I would like you to give me a check up." He gave me a strange look.

"A check up? For what? I thought that you had similar regenerative powers to Logan." I nodded.

"Yes well, long story short and please no questions, but I need to be checked out to see if I can bare children." Hank paused for a moment then looked down at his snack.

"You do realize that it's very hard not to ask questions."

"Save them for later. You just look tired. Get some rest and whenver you get time, we can do the check-up." Hank nodded with a yawn.

"I do apologize for my rudeness." I placed my hand on his shoulder after pulling the bag of popped corn out of the microwave and put it into a bowl.

"No worries, my friend. Go and rest." Hank nodded putting his plate and spoon into the sink. I walked back into the living room and sat down. Logan grabbed the remote and pushed play for the movie to start. I leaned against Logan as the opening scene started playing. He lifted his arm and put it around me to make us both a little more comfortable.

We watched the movie in comfortable silence even though there was a couple times to where I hid my face in Logan's chest earning a chuckle from Logan every time. After the movie was over, I made a trip to Rogue and Laura's room and put my ear to the door. I didn't hear anything so I slowly opened the door. The room was dark. I looked back at Logan who was standing next to our door with his arms crossed. I held up a finger giving him the universal signal of "just a moment" and entered the room.

Rogue was asleep on her bed, her school books still scattered about in front of her. I walked over and began closing them and sat them on her desk. I grabbed a throw blanket and put it over her. I carefully pushed hair out of her face. She cringed a little, but didn't wake up. I looked over to Laura's bed to find that she wasn't in her bed. A slight panic gripped my heart as I hurried over to her bed. I glanced down on the other side of the bed to find her sprawled out on the ground. I frowned. The poor thing. Logan had mentioned that she had lived out in the wilderness by herself most of her life. She probably couldn't sleep in a bed.

At least she had enough sense to turn the lights off. I pulled the blankets down on her bed and fluffed the pillows a little before walked around to her. I bent slowly knowing that she could lash out at any moment if she forgot where she was. I reached down slowly first touching her shoulder gently. She didn't move. Part of my wondered if she was awake. Maybe she was curious, awaiting to see what I was going to do. I picked her up gently, her head falling against my chest. I placed her gently on the bed and covered her with her blankets. I stood over her, staring down at her.

I moved quietly out of the room and into the room Logan and I shared. He was already climbing in bed for the night. I moved into the bathroom to get ready for bed myself. After I was ready for bed, I left the bathroom then climbed in bed next to Logan. I snuggled up next to him laying my head on his shoulder. I wrapped my arm around his waist.

"I love you," I whispered.

"I love you." His fingers tickled my side. I slowly drifted off. I woke up early so I could make breakfast for the children. Every morning it was the same thing. Biscuits, gravy, eggs, bacon, sausage. Sometimes if I was feeling lazy, I would make toast instead. I put the buscuits on a pan as Logan walked in. I poured him a cup of coffee and handed it to him. He gave me a grin. He grabbed my chin with his free hand giving me a long, gentle kiss.

"Laura is up. She's roaming around the place trying to get a feel for it." I turned away from him to keep breakfast from burning.

"I found her sleeping in the floor last night. I put her in the bed. I wonder if she stayed after I put her there." Logan's fingers traced my cheek.

"She will adjust sometime." With that he left me alone to finish breakfast. It wasn't long after I had the dining area all set up that I heard the hoard of children coming down the stairs. Logan sat in the window sipping at his coffee and reading the paper quietly. I carried the pot of coffee over to give him a little more coffee. He gave me a devilish grin as I poured it and I winked at him.

We turned towards the door and Rogue and Laura walked in. Rogue was walking carefully with Laura. Laura had her head lowered, but was watching everyone in the room. Rogue sat down in a chair and Laura sat down next to her. Laura slowly made her plate eyeing everyone as if they would take her food if she lowered he defenses in the least. I wondered how many times the girl had to go hungry out there in the wild by herself. I glanced at Logan then decided she never had to with her being his child.

After breakfast, all the children left for school leaving just the adults and Laura.

"Would you like to go shopping for new clothes today?" I asked Laura. She shook her head no quickly and disappeared. I poute a little crossing my arms.

"Don't worry, Kat. She's still trying to adjust. She will come around sometime." I looked to Ororo. "Just don't force her into it, you might just scare her away." I heard the truth in her words. If I pushed the girl too hard, she would run. I had to allow her to come forward on her own. She had to feel comortable. Eventually, she would come around and want new clothes. Part of me wondered what type of style in clothing she would pick. Would she go for more of Rogue's style in clothing or would she go for more of a sporty look like Jean did. I doubted that she would go for Kitty's look, but no matter what, I wanted it to be her style.

Hank called me from across the room and I made my way over to him. He was sure to be vague knowing Logan's hearing was above average.

"What we spoke of last night, I have time now, if you do." My heart jumped up into my throat. Of course I had time, but now that it was coming right down to it, I was nervous. If I was able to carry again, then that would be wonderful. If not, what would happen? How would Laura feel if I suddenly up and became pregnant? Would she feel replaced? Would she leave us? I nodded my head and followed behind Hank as he led me down to the medical wing.

The room was cold, the bed was colder. I was holding back a shiver, but it over came me. He had already run numerous tests on me to be one hundred percent certain if I was able to become pregnant or not. I sat in the room by myself staring at the floor. I nibbled away at my lip.

Did I even want to be able to have children? I had only been pregnant the one time in my entire life. No one had ever asked for my hand in or outside my tribe.

Not even Logan.

Marriage, parenthood, that stuff was for the birds. Sure I loved having Laura around so far and I loved being around all of the other children as well. I loved having Logan's company. Hank walked back into the room, his glasses sitting at the bridge of his nose. He stared down at the clipboard in his hand.

"There's still some damage to your reproductive organs, but without something to compare them to, it's hard to say if they have gotten any better over the years. It may be a little difficult to become pregnant, but its surely possible." I looked down at my feet again, then slid slowly off the bed.

"I guess I'll go tell Logan now." I found him in the Danger Room with Laura. I stood in the crow's nest watching them as they sparred each other. I was shocked to see Logan not holding back on her, but what really got to me was the fact that Laura seemed to be enjoying it. Any of the other children would be complaining the entire time, claiming that Logan was trying to kill them.

I watched silently as they seemed to dance around each other. I noticed fairly quickly that Laura's fighting style matched Logan's pretty close. It was animalistic. Almost like they were relying on their instinct. They flew at each other with no remorse. I decided to leave the two alone so they could have their little bonding moment. We could have ours once she felt comfortable enough to go shopping with me. I wondered if Kitty would like to go with us. Nah, that might be a bad idea, Laura might stab her for just being to annoying. Jean would be the most logical choice since she could sense whenever Laura was holding back, but Rogue would be a good choice as well since they already had some kind of connection.

I made my way up to our bedroom so I could take a shower. I quickly lost myself in thought. I was actually relaxed now. I hadn't felt this good since I found my village destroyed by an unknown force. I grinned to myself lowering my head. The water that was cascading down my back redirected itself to my face. I heard Logan enter the bathroom and start removing his clothes so he could hop in the shower with me. I felt one of his hands grip my hip as the other pushed my hair back away from my shoulder.

"I had Hank run some tests on me," I whispered as he began to kiss my exposed neck. Shivers shot down my spine.

"What kind of tests?" Logan asked as he continued what he was doing. I pressed my back up against him leaning my head back. His arms wrapped around my waist. I ran my finger tips down his arms slowly.

"Tests to see if I could carry a child." If I didn't know any better, I would say that Logan's heart skipped a beat on me. I turned to look into his eyes so I could see his reaction. His hands never left my waist. His eyes held many different emotions to where I couldn't quite palce it.

"What did he say?" I heard nervousness in his voice. It was strange hearing it.

"He said it would be a little difficult, but it could happen. So, all we have to do is try." Logan grinned then leaned forward putting his forehead against mine. We didn't say anything to each other after that. We just stood there in each other's presence taking each other in. We ended up staying in the shower until it the water ran cold.
