Chapter 34 At the alter
Esme had done a great job at preparing the small wedding. She had only a few days to arrange everything but it was more than enough time for someone with her experience, not to mention the importance of whom the groom and groom were. Esme managed to turn their home into the perfect wedding site. The stairs that lead down to the grand room were modestly lined with white flowers. The grand room which was formerly the living room was lined with a few rows of chairs in two sections.
There were quite a bit more people than Edward had anticipated, but that was fine with him because at the end of the ceremony he would walk out of there Jasper's husband. Edward didn't recognize any of the people sitting in the audience with exception to his friends and family. He would later learn that they were part of Jasper's team. They all knew Edward on sight and cheered for him when he came down the stairs to meet his parents. Together they walked down the middle of the two rows of chairs to where Jasper was anxiously waiting.
The whole family had a role to play in the wedding. Edward and Jasper, of course held the most important parts, Groom and Groom. On Edward's side, Carlisle and Esme were the parents of the groom and Emmett was the best man. On Jasper's side Rosalie with a round belly ready to pop was his Maid of Honor. Even Jasper's grandfather had made the trip all the way from Texas to see his only grandson be married. His pride evident in his tired old tear filled eyes.
Edward's blush was permanent as Jasper's team cheered and catcalled. Jasper stood proud and tall waiting for his soon to be husband in his elegant tuxedo that matched Edward's perfectly. Esme had to hold Edward's arm before he made a run for the makeshift altar, but when the trio finally made it to their destination Carlisle wasted no time in handing Edward over to his future son-in-law.
The ceremony was simple and to the point, but Jasper did ask that he be given a moment to speak.
"Jasper Hale Whitlock, do you take Edward Cullen to be you husband? To cherish and respect through sickness and in health till death do you part?"
"Yes, I do." Jasper said proudly.
"Ladies and gentlemen, although the grooms did not prepare their own vows, one of the grooms would like to say something."
Jasper cleared his throat and held both of Edward's hands and looked into his glossy emerald eyes.
"I…" Jasper took a deep breath to control his nerves and continued. "Edward I want you to know that today with our friends and family as witnesses I ask you that you accept one last thing from me. I don't offer my heart, because you've had that since the day I met you in the sand box." Everyone awed at Jasper's words. "I don't offer you my soul because when I was in my darkest moments you saved me and kept it safe for me. I don't offer you my mind because it doesn't matter how near or far I am from you my thoughts are always with you. I don't offer you wealth because we have our lives to build it. I offer you the only thing that I do own, me. With me, I offer you support, faith, devotion, friendship but most of all unconditional love. So today in front of all this witnesses I promise you Edward Anthony Cullen that I will always love you with everything that I am."
Edward wrapped his arms around Jasper's neck and cried tears of joy. The justice of the peace cleared his throat.
"Edward Anthony Cullen, do you take Jasper Hale Whitlock to be you husband? To cherish and respect through sickness and in health till death do you part?"
Edwards nodded his head from side to side and a collective gasp was heard but Jasper smiled. He knew Edward wasn't saying 'no' to him. He was just trying to get himself together.
"Uhm… Edward, no to push you into something but you think you could move it along, your nephew is demanding an answer like now." Everyone turned to Rose, who was now supporting her stomach. Edward's mouth dropped at the realization that she was in labor. Emmett was at her side in no time.
"Come on baby I have the car parked out front." He wrapped an arm around her for support but she wouldn't move.
"Not until your brother says yes to my brother."
"Yes, yes, I do, now go hurry." Rosalie still wouldn't move.
"Finish." She growled at the justice of the peace.
"Oh, I now pronounce you husband and husband. Ladies and gentlemen it is my pleasure to introduce Mr. Jasper H. Cullen-Whitlock and Mr. Edward A. Whitlock- Cullen."
"Aghhhh," Rose curled in and cradled her stomach in both hands.
"Go now! We're right behind you!" Jasper called out and turned to the justice of the peace and hurried him to hand over the pen so they could sign the marriage certificate.
Jasper knew that one day he would have everything his parents had, love, family, friends and happiness. He was definitely happy with the way his life had turned out and who he would be sharing it with. He had the best group of friends a man could ask for and most of them were what he considered his family. But the most important thing he found was love, but not just any love. No he found the type of love most people only dream of finding, the type of love that conquers all. He found the type of love that connects on a whole other level, he found his soul mate.
Okay so I see the end now but I have to ask do you want on last Edward/ Japer love scene, with a touch of the new addition to the family? Or the chaotic child birth with a touch of Edward/ Jasper love scene? This was actually not part of the story but it occurred to me that it would be a nice addition. Let me know what you want so I can get it out to you. Thank for reading and reviewing and sorry if I haven't answered you reviews. I promise I will soon. Thanks you all.
