Hello all! I hope you enjoy this lengthy chapter. I couldn't stop the words from flowing out of me... which is unusual. There is a bit on angst in this chapter but bear with me haha.

Song used: Focus- Christina Grimmie ( i know, i know)

The competition is almost over, who will win?! I hope you enjoy this chapter; please let me know what you think!

Lucy sighed in content as she strolled along the stone pathway through the park. She smiled as she saw a small child giggling as her parents swung her around. The birds were chirping and the temperature outside was just right… it was a beautiful morning.

Coca announced after the band meeting last night the finale would be the day after tomorrow. There was a lot to do with all the bands returning and performing and for the final three to create their masterpieces. Then, Mira surprised the girls last night by telling them they got the morning off.

While the crew dealt with all the eliminated bands and setting the stage, the final three bands were given time and space to work on their projects. Mira was kind enough to give Lucy and the girls the morning to catch their breath before making them return later to work on the song.

So here she was, taking in the sights, sounds and smells of the outdoors. She missed her nightly walks through the Fairy Commons; how the crisp night air felt against her skin or how the crickets lightly chirped to create a melody of their own. The best thing was the way the stars shimmered in the night sky. She always felt so comfortable in the outdoors.

The girls all went their separate ways to enjoy the morning. Lucy found a small coffee shop so she purchased a pastry and a medium coffee before setting off on a small adventure through the city.

She was lucky enough to come across a couple walking their dog and she followed them into the park. Lucy smiled at all the sights around her but was out to find the perfect spot for enjoying her breakfast. Then… it happened.

Lucy stopped in her tracks when she saw it. The pathway travelled straight into a clearing that was filled with nicely trimmed grass surrounding the prettiest fountain Lucy has ever seen; a fountain which rivaled the one in the courtyard of Heartfilia Mansion.

The blonde sat down at one of the benches pointed at the fountain and enjoyed the rest of her pastry and coffee in peace. That small moment of peace was just enough for Lucy to regain her composure and get her head back in the game.

And she wasn't the only one. Levy, Juvia and Erza all returned to their music room with the same fire in their eyes. They had made it this far and there was no way they were giving up now. On the contrary, they were adamant this would be their best performance yet.

"So we're going all out, yes?" Juvia asked to which the girls all nodded.

"The whole point is to show off who we are as a band," Levy explained.

"I feel like we've done a good job of that so far throughout this competition," Erza added.

"I agree; however, we have no limits this time. No rules to abide by or limit ourselves to," Lucy thought aloud.

"I wouldn't say we've limited ourselves in this competition but it's nice to let loose," Levy answered.

"So what are we gonna do?" Juvia asked. The girls all thought to themselves.

"Levy," Lucy began, "What was your favorite performance of ours?" Levy placed a finger to her cheek. "It's hard to pick a favorite but one that stands out was the song you sang for your dad."

Lucy's eyes widened slightly; she wasn't expecting that to be her answer since it wasn't really meant for the competition but for her own personal matters.

"You were so emotional and powerful during that performance," Levy explained.

"It really showcased your abilities, Lucy," Erza added.

"Levy was beautiful in the duet!" Juvia added and Levy blushed.

"Yeah, you did great!" Erza praised her friend.

"Well, Erza, you were great in the Confidence song," Levy stated.

"Your drum line was genius," Lucy added. The blonde's eyes went wide and she whipped her head towards Juvia.

"Juvia… we haven't showcased your abilities yet." Juvia pointed at herself and made a confused face. "That's true. Juvia has helped out in a lot of the songs but never had a major part." Levy again thought aloud.

"Ju-Juvia is fine just playing," she stuttered. Lucy grabbed a hold of both of Juvia's hands. "Juvia, you are an amazing artist! We are so lucky to have you as a part of this band. I, personally, feel blessed every time I get to watch you play."

"The whole point is to showcase what we've got… and we've got you." Levy added as she placed a hand on Juvia's shoulder.

Erza placed her hand on Juvia's other shoulder, "We've got each other, so we will all do our best and show them what we've got." Juvia smiled and nodded her head.

Natsu let his head fall back over the seat before he sighed heavily. He didn't know what was so important about him being there while the producers listened to all the other bands warm up for the finale tomorrow. It's not like this isn't anything they haven't heard before, he thought.

The other guys got out of it he supposed. Gray got roped into helping the lead clothing designer compile everything, which Natsu found ironic. Gajeel helped with the sound board operators and Jellal helped with the lighting. Laxus was busy helping with the management and overall production of the event.

Natsu was left to help with the rehearsals and give his input here and there. Each band was given three run throughs of the songs the judges picked as their favorite. Natsu would give his feedback where he saw fit but mostly just played around on his phone.

He had a few minutes in between each band to catch his breath. Battle of the Bands was something dear to his heart because of the success his band got in the past from it but man, was it a lot to handle. Even not performing in it, Natsu felt the stress.

"Up next, we have the Exceeds from Edolas," Coco announced as the group walked on stage. Natsu tilted his head back forward in an effort to look like he was paying attention. He glanced down at the clipboard in his lap which listed the bands and the songs they would be performing. He was lucky he could still read the names on the board amidst the random doodles he drew all over the page.

"Exceeds… the judges wanted to hear your duet again." The lead singer nodded before turning towards his band members to discuss the song. Natsu found this band odd; all bands had some kind of image of gimic but cat ears? He didn't see the point.

He let the band take their time to warm up as he let his thoughts wander. The band completed their first run through of the song then Natsu gave his feedback on the performance. The band started again and Natsu turned his attention back down to the clipboard in his lap.

Lucy walked past the side entrance of the stage and paused when she heard the Exceeds performing. She never got to actually listen to their performance since she was stressed out that night but she heard it was great.

The blonde paused to listen to the rest of the song. She watched as the drummer nodded encouragingly to the bassist and the singer watched the beat the drummer created. Run throughs were pretty choppy but Lucy enjoyed the process of it.

Her eyes wandered over the band until she caught sight of the pinkette sitting a few rows away from the stage. She giggled slightly at the look on his face; he appeared bored and uninterested and could only imagine what he was doodling. She watched as he lifted his pen without looking away from his clipboard and flicked his wrist to the hits of the beat. Content with that, Natsu smirked and continued doodling.

Natsu gave some encouraging words when the song ended and Coco escorted the Exceeds off the stage. "We're running a bit late so the next band should be out in about ten to fifteen," Coco told Natsu before running off into the wings.

Natsu sighed and walked up and onto the stage. His hands glossed over the keyboard, putting pressure on each key. "You look tired?"

Natsu turned around to see Lucy leaning against the wall of the stage. His face immediately lit up, "Lucy! What are you doing here?!"

"We're taking a quick walk around the building to think of ideas for our song tomorrow. We all want to showcase our individual talents so we are all thinking of what we will bring to the table."

"That sounds like a great idea; I can't wait to hear it," Natsu stated.

"Having fun out here?" Lucy asked sarcastically.

Natsu sighed before walking over to a guitar and placing the strap over his shoulder. "I love helping out fellow musicians but this is just taking a lot out of me. I feel like I don't get time to myself."

"I hear that happens a lot in this business," Lucy added.

Natsu pulled at his hair, "I'm just so bored!" Lucy chuckled at her friend. "Then have some fun," she suggested.

"Wanna help me out?" he asked as he took the strap off of him. Lucy shrugged her shoulders and shook her head at him.

Natsu walked over to the mixer near the drum kit. Lucy looked at the machine confused, "What is that thing?"

"You'll see," he winked. He pushed a button, illuminating it, and began to clap. After a few beats of clapping, Natsu pressed a pedal beneath him. The clapping noise continued even though Natsu had stopped.

He pushed another button, this time making clicking noises with his tongue. Lucy giggled at her friend as he looked so amused playing with this machine. With another press of the pedal, the sound remained. Once more, he pressed a button then made sporadic bass notes before hitting the pedal.

Lucy listened to the beat and bopped her head to it. This was a fun little machine. Natsu watched as Lucy got into the beat and encouraged her to add something. The blonde smiled and hummed along.

Oh yeah, yeah

I know what I came to do
And that ain't gonna change

Lucy pointed at herself before turning the finger and waggling it at Natsu.

So go ahead and talk your talk

Lucy turned the same had into a mouth and pantomimed with it.

'Cause I won't take the bait
I'm over here doing what I like

Lucy danced away from Natsu, causing him to chuckle.

I'm over here working day and night
And if my real ain't real enough
I'm sorry for you bae

Lucy shrugged both her shoulders.

Natsu hit the glowing buttons and held the pedal to make more noises. Lucy smiled at the face he was now making. Natsu opened his mouth but kept his teeth shut as he blew air between the gaps. It almost wanted to make her slap his cheeks to push all the air out.

Let's find a light inside our universe now
Where ain't nobody keep on holding us down

The claps came back but were joined by Natsu's ahs along with his harmony.

Just come and get it let them say what they say
'Cause I'm about to put them all away
(Whoa)

Lucy raised her arm in the air before dancing back towards Natsu. She chuckled at how he worked at mixing the beats to the chorus; at all the different faces he was making and all the weird sounds that came out of his mouth.

Focus on me

Whoa
Focus on me

Focus on me

Focus on me (focus)

Lucy added in once Natsu pointed at her, encouraging her on.

Focus on me (focus on me)

Focus on me (focus)
Focus on me (focus on me)

I can tell you're curious
It's written on your lips

Lucy ran a finger over her lips.

Ain't no need to hold it back
Go head and talk your ahahah

She placed a full hand over her mouth and her eyes went wide. Then a smile appeared as she gave a small riff.

I know you're hoping that I'll react
I know you're hoping I'm looking back
But if my real ain't real enough

Lucy bent slightly forward and held her arms out to her sides.

Lisanna walked down the back halls located behind the stage staring intently at the sheet music in her hands. Her head snapped up when she heard two familiar voices.

She wandered around using the voices as her guide until she came to the stage. Lisanna poked her head out and saw Natsu and Lucy singing together. What made matters worse was they were smiling and giggling with one another.

With a firm grip, she crushed the paper in her fist and stormed away.

Then I don't know what is

Natsu hit more buttons and made the same puffy cheek noise he did earlier.

Let's find a light inside our universe now
Cuz ain't nobody keep on holding us down

Lucy walked towards Natsu, each step on beat, while wagging her finger in a 'come here' manner.

Just come and get it let them say what they say
'Cause I'm about to put them all away

Lucy danced obnoxiously to the chorus Natsu created, sometimes maintaining a straight face (but mostly not).

Whoa

Focus on me

Whoa
Focus on me

Focus on me

Focus on me (focus)
Focus on me (focus on me)

Focus on me (focus)
Focus on me (focus on me)

The beat broke a second so Lucy interjected. She counted up on her fingers before wagging her finger again at her pink haired friend.

One, two, three
Come on, Natsu

Natsu made his horn noise again and Lucy riffed along. Natsu continued as Lucy ad libbed.

Aye, you wanna focus on me

Ohohoh

Jokingly, Lucy placed a hand over her ear to hit the high notes.

Focus on

Oh no

Lucy motioned to Natsu to join in with her. The pinkette smiled and obliged her request.

Let's find a light inside our universe now
Where ain't nobody keep on holding us down

Just come and get it let them say what they say
'Cause I'm about to put them all away

No!

Lucy raised an arm in the air as she bolted out the note. There was a split second pause before Natsu added in.

Ding

Lucy let out a laugh at her friend's antics before quickly joining back in with background vocals.

Focus on me
Focus on me (you wanna, you wanna focus on me)

Focus on me (aye, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
Focus on me (oh, you wanna focus on me!)

Focus on me (focus)
Focus on me (focus on me)

Focus on me (focus)
Focus on me (ah yeah)

Focus on me (you wanna focus on me)

Focus on me (focus)
Focus on me (focus on me)

Focus on me (focus)
Focus on me (focus on me)

Lucy placed a hand against her mouth to stifle her giggle. Natsu pulled himself away from the mixer to join in with Lucy. The two were too caught up with their enjoyment to hear the footsteps behind them. The person behind them loudly cleared their throat to draw their attention. Natsu and Lucy's eyes went wide as they whipped their heads around towards the noise, only to discover a smug Lisanna standing beside Jura.

"Miss Lucy…" Jura began before slowly turning his head towards Natsu, "Dragneel." Natsu gulped in fear. "Contestants are not allowed to fraternize with the Judges; you know that." Natsu tensed up as he nodded. "The punishment of such act is severe." Natsu clenched his fists until his knuckles were white.

"H-how severe?" Lucy asked.

"Expulsion from the competition," Lisanna proudly answered. Lucy met Lisanna's glare with her own. "Leave us, Miss Strauss."

"But, sir…" Lisanna pleaded before Jura demanded again. Begrudgingly, Lisanna complied with the man's order and disappeared the way she came in. Jura turned to watch the white haired girl leave then turned back to the two in front of him.

"Natsu," Jura sighed, "You know better." Natsu's face softened and his shoulders released the tension they held. Lucy saw this but was still confused as to what was going on.

"Umm…" Lucy began causing Jura and Natsu to look towards her. "What's gonna happen now?"

"While your messing around was very entertaining, it's against the rules." Jura explained.

"So… is Accidentally On Purpose kicked out of the competition?"

Jura chuckled at the blonde. In confusion, Lucy looked toward Natsu who only responded by giving her an encouraging smile. "No, dear, you're still in the competition. It's too late in the program for that and besides," Jura leaned close to the blonde's face, "you're my favorite to win." Lucy's mouth dropped open in shock.

"But seriously," Jura leaned back to his original spot, "Natsu, you have work to get back to," he said as he nodded to the band awaiting in the wings. "The sooner you get done, the sooner Audio Uproar can rehearse and the sooner we can get to the party."

"Party?" Lucy asked.

"And you, Lucy." Lucy gave out a small yip as she waited what Jura would say to her next. "Production needs you in wardrobe for tomorrow's video. After that, the bands are required to practice."

Lucy nodded then gave a small wave to Natsu as she walked away from the stage. Natsu smiled softly as he reciprocated the wave. "You're in trouble, Dragneel." Natsu jumped toward Jura.

"What?"

"Oh nothing, nothing," the man chuckled as he walked off the stage, opposite of where Lucy left. Natsu watched in confusion as the bald man seemingly skipped away. With a shake of his head, he looked towards Coco and nodded, permitting the next band to enter the stage.

Natsu took his seat again and picked up the clipboard. "The song the judges picked for you is…"

"Juvia, what were the notes again?" Lucy asked as she stood behind the keyboard. Juvia played the opening for Lucy on her guitar. Lucy kept a focused stare at the keys as she listened intently to the notes Juvia played.

When Juvia finished she reminded Lucy, "Just change the end so it fades into the piece Levy and I will play."

"Alright so… it's dada da dadadada dada da dada, da dada da dadadada dada da dada, dada da dadadada dada da dada, da dada dadadada daaaaa da daaaa then pause, right?" Lucy sang and the girls nodded in reply. Lucy turned to face the keys and hit the corresponding keys to the notes she sang.

"Put an instrument on it," Levy suggested. Lucy looked over the sounds provided by the keyboard before settling on violin. Lucy played the opening section again.

"How's that?" the blonde asked her bandmates.

"That sounds amazing, Lu-chan!" Levy cheered. Erza gave a thumbs up showing her approval.

"Do it again," Juvia stated as she positioned her hands on her guitar. Lucy turned back to the keys and played her part. Juvia waited a few beats before adding her flare to the notes on the next part.

"That's badass!" Erza cheered. "We've got something good ladies!"

"Well good will have to do." The girls turned to see their manager standing in the open doorway. "You can sort out specifics tomorrow; for now, we party!" Juvia removed her guitar from her shoulders and placed it at its stand near Erza's drumset. Erza in turn laid her sticks down on the snare and walked towards the door with Lucy and Levy following.

The night before very Finale episode of the Battle of the Bands was a night of celebration. A formal event just for the contestants involved in that season as well as the judges and crew. No reporters, no worries of tomorrow's results… just one last night for everyone to have fun with one another.

Mira surprised each of the girls with new dresses for the party. Needless to say, the girls were all ecstatic to get into them. But to top it all off, Cancer did each of their hair and makeup to complete the look.

Erza wore a dark charcoal colored dress that ran to the floor and sprawled out just a bit at her feet, causing a slight train when she walked. The dress was a halter cut with the collar lined with glittery jewels which continued in strands down her back. The fabric was almost transparent from the collar to her waist, showing off her amazing figure. Her earrings hung loosely and were made of the same glittery jewels adorning her collar. Cancer pulled Erza's scarlet hair into a loose ponytail that hung over her shoulder, tied together with a barrette of the same jewel.

Levy's dress was a little more showy than Erza's. Levy's deep orange gown also dropped to the floor and had a slit up the side allowing the bassist to show off her amazing legs. The straps came to a v at a silver jeweled belt just under Levy's breasts, showing off the hour glass figure she usually hid. Mira also provided Levy with black heels that gave her a few inches. Cancer pulled Levy's hair into a bun allowing her neckline to be exposed.

Juvia had the sexiest of them all; the silent and shy guitarist surely would be the center of attention tonight. Juvia's pure white chiffon dress had a sweetheart cut at the chest and flowed down to the floor. A lace sleeve adorned with silver jewels dropped down her left arm only and ended in her mid-arm. The sleeve connected across Juvia's chest at the shoulder before continuing down her side before ending at the slit which exposed her legs. In the dress and the silver heels given to her, Juvia was sure to steal a few hearts. Cancer let Juvia's naturally curly hair rest lightly on her shoulders, completing the look.

Last but not least, Lucy wore a multi fabric dress which just touched the floor. The top was layered, underneath the lace patterned sleeves resting just off Lucy's shoulders was an off white strapless slip cut which dropped down to just above her navel. The top ended at a black leather belt which connected to a solid black skirt. Lucy's also had a slit on the side which started on her left side but opened up diagonally towards her right exposing both legs. Lucy's thin strapped heels tied it all together along with the messy up do Cancer gave her.

These girls were dressed to kill and knew it; hopefully medics will be close at hand at the party. Mira gathered the girls for a picture since Mira was insistent on 'capturing the hotness.'

Mira hurried the girls into the vehicle and off to the party. The producers off the competition rented out the gala space of the hotel which was located in the basement. You would never know the space was there from the front but the hotel had a special drive thru area that went right up to the entrance of the room.

Lucy was the first to step out of the vehicle. Her eyes were entranced by the glittering lights of the decorations that framed the entry way. Two attendees were positioned outside of the entrance on either side of the archway. Lucy and the girls, following behind Mira, followed the black carpet further into the building.

The blonde picked up her dress so she could walk up the steps into the main hall. Lucy lost her breath as she stared out into the room full of people. The people were just as dressed up and shining as the decorations in the room.

A giant chandelier hung in the center of the room over a wooden dance floor. Surrounding that were many tables elegantly covered in fabric and decorations with golden chairs seated around the tables. Lucy was torn away by the sight in front of her when she felt a hand upon her shoulder. "Let's go find our seats," Mira stated.

The girls followed behind their manager as she scoured the tables looking for their nametags. Lucy followed along looking at all the people in the room and their beautiful outfits. She spotted little Coco in the corner speaking to another woman she didn't recognize; she wouldn't have recognized Coco if she still wasn't wearing her headset.

Lucy followed the crowd of people until her eyes landed on Lisanna. She wore a floor length backless stress which glimmered in the evening light. Lucy had to admit she looked stunning, but that didn't change the personality within her.

"Oh here we are!" Levy chimed, snapping Lucy out of her thoughts. The girls set there things down at their assigned seats so they could fully experience the night. As the girls conversed, three men walked up to them. "You look stunning, ladies," Warrod commented.

The girls turned around and saw the three judges standing before them. Warrod and Jura were dressed in simple suits while Wolfheim wore a flashy suit made from leopard print.

"It's been a pleasure watching you ladies progress throughout this competition,"Warrod added.

"Your manager must be proud," Jura chimed in.

Mira placed a hand to her chest, "I am, very, but their success has nothing to do with me. I am blessed to be able to be here with these girls." Mira reached out and held Lucy's hand.

"Can't wait to see what you come up with," Wolfheim stated.

"You're in for a treat," Lucy winked making the judges chuckle.

"Well make sure you all enjoy yourself tonight. I wish we could stay and chat a bit longer but we have rounds to make," Jura replied. With a small wave, the three walked across the room and disappeared into the crowd.

"Come on, let's go!" Levy cheered as she pulled her best friend along with her. Erza and Juvia chuckled and followed suit. The four walked through the hall, stopping to talk to the executives and give their thanks. Lucy spotted a familiar face and ran over to her.

"Arana!" The girl turned and smiled upon seeing her new friend. "Lucy!" Arana enveloped Lucy in a hug. Millanna saw Erza standing behind Lucy and ran towards her as well. Levy and Juvia took turns hugging Riley as well. The group of girls talked in the corner enjoying each other's company and the expensive champagne.

"So it looks like you're not in trouble after all," Riley stated.

Lucy swallowed her gulp of champagne, "Trouble? Why would I be in trouble?"

"We saw you this morning with Jura on the main stage," Millianna answered.

"On stage? What were you doing there, Lu-chan?" Levy asked.

"I was wondering around and got side tracked."

"So that's what you're calling that?" Arana teased.

"What's that supposed to mean?!" Lucy sassed back.

"Lucy got in trouble because she was singing with Natsu," Arana added before taking a sip from her glass. Juvia and Levy gasped gaining Mira's attention from across the room. "Lu-chan…" Levy stated in a scandalous tone.

"So you're not my love rival?" Juvia questioned aloud.

"Look, it's not like that," Lucy began.

"Not like what?!" Mira butted in.

"I just happened upon Natsu playing with the mixer; we were screwing around with some stupid song but it's no big deal," Lucy answered.

"Ah you sang with Natsu… and I missed it!" Mira sighed.

"No big deal? You're lucky you didn't' get in trouble," Erza deadpanned.

"Don't worry, Mira. It's not the first time she's sung with Natsu and trust me, it won't be the last," Arana added.

"You've sung together before?!" Lucy sighed angrily. This was a great conversation, she thought sarcastically. "Of course we have. I've sung with him at the Fairy Tail retreat and for other school stuff; that's not surprising."

"But the duet you guys did was beautiful," Millianna cooed.

"What are you talking about?"

"The one in the café," Arana answered, "I've told you about it before."

"But I've never been to a café," Lucy added. Riley retrieved her phone from her clutch and began searching online for a particular video. "Ah, here it is!" Riley cheered before handing the phone over to Lucy.

The blonde set her glass down on the nearest table before taking the phone I both hands. The girls all crowded around her to see the screen, especially Mira who was hyperventilating in excitement.

Lucy watched as the camera seemed to fumble around in someone's lap. The camera was hastily picked up and pointed towards something but it was too fuzzy to make out. The camera's focus shifted into a clearer picture as it zoomed in. Her eyes widened in shock as she recognized the people and the scene… the restaurant booths facing a built in keyboard, the same wall in between them; it was the music room on Tenrou Island.

She shook lightly as she watched herself warm up on the keyboard with a pouting Natsu in a similar booth right behind her. Just as she began playing some chords, Lucy immediately remembered what was about to happen.

She began singing and watched as Natsu's head perked up when she began. She saw how she was shocked to see Natsu singing the song, namely because she didn't think he knew that song let alone would join in with her. Her heart jumped a bit to see him lean his head towards her to sing and how sincere he seemed when he sang.

The song ended and the video quickly stopped. Lucy felt a mixture of emotions… one being fear. How did this get out? She could have sworn no one was in there with them but she couldn't exactly remember.

"Awww… Lucy." The blonde looked over her shoulder to see a weeping Mira. "That was beautiful! Promise me you and Natsu will sing together on my wedding day."

"What?! I better be invited; I want to see that!" Riley pleaded.

"I hope you guys win, that way I can see the two of you sing together live!" Arana answered.

Lucy quickly sent the link to herself before shoving the phone back into Riley's hands. She grabbed her glass of champagne before turning back to her friends, "We came here to have a good time, right?! Then let's do that!" With that, Lucy stormed off towards another waiter to grab another glass.

"Well…" Lucy rolled her eyes and sighed as she swallowed her gulp. "I'm not in the mood, Loke."

"You certainly put ME in the mood with that dress of yours," Loke whispered into her ear as he leaned into her back. Lucy turned and softly pushed Loke away at the same time. "Let's make this clear. I am not nor have I ever been or ever will be attracted to you so please leave me alone."

"Have I ever told you I love how feisty you are?" Loke winked at her causing a wave of nausea to wash over her.

"There are plenty of other women here, why don't you go torment one of them instead?" Loke took the opportunity to glance around the room and take in all the women around. "Don't worry… I'll be back," with another wink, he was gone.

Lucy walked around the room, attracting the attention of both males and females. Many people from the different bands approached her to start up conversation. Most gave her congratulations for getting to the finals and commented on what song was their favorite that they performed. Some of the men who approached her also asked for a dance later in the evening. She did not want to appear rude so she happily obliged.

Lucy began to wander off again when she heard cheering from the entry way. She turned to see people crowding around the entrance and took it to only mean one thing… Audio Uproar.

She took a few steps forward trying to catch a glimpse of him through the crowd. She had seen him so many times before so why was it important to her now? Lucy could see Laxus, who seemed to be a head above the rest, walking straight forward with a green haired person following close behind him. Gajeel's messy main passed by next, followed by blue hair.

She inched closer, fighting her way through the back of the crowd. She could hear people calling his name and his voice responding. She stopped in her tracks. What was she doing? Lucy shook her head and tried to turn around but bumped into someone and spilt some of her drink. "Oh I'm so sorry," Lucy stated. The old man politely waved her off, reassuring her it was alright.

The old man walked off, once again opening her view to the band ahead of her. Through the crowd and over someone's shoulder, her brown eyes locked onto Natsu's dark green ones. It seemed like time slowed as he stepped forward to get a better view of her. Just as he opened his mouth, the feedback of the microphone sounded. Everyone, including Natsu and Lucy, turned their heads to the front of the room.

"I'd like to welcome everyone to this year's BOB celebration. If you all could please take your seats so we can get started." Lucy pushed through the crowd of people to make her way to the table where Levy and Juvia were already sitting.

Once everyone took their seats, Jura continued his speech. "I am honored to be part of this competition and dare I say, this is the best of we've had yet. The pure talent and creativity I've seen this year from all the bands here has been absolutely amazing. There have been memorable moments this season… such as the flip in Trimen's cover set…" Loke raised a hand in pride, "or amazing four part harmony during Sirens' duet… or, my favorite, the raw emotion of Accidentally On Purpose's acoustic song." Lucy perked up and was stunned that Jura mentioned her and that event of all things.

"I am so excited to see the results of tomorrow night's show. We've got some great finalists… Trimen!" The band stood up and gave winks and blew kisses to the entire room; Lucy couldn't help but roll her eyes. "Femme Fatal." Lisanna stood triumphantly and just stood there, basking in the applause of the room. "And lastly Accidentally On Purpose." Lucy took her turn to stand with Levy, Erza and Juvia. Lucy smiled when she heard the extra loud shouts from the Sirens.

"With that, let's have a great evening and enjoy the night!" the crowd cheered as Jura walked off the stage and back to his table. Shortly after, waiters came out for the back of the room with plates of elegant food for everyone present. The plate of food set before her was just like her meals in her old house… and it tasted just as good, if not better.

"This is amazing!" Levy squealed as she took a big bite. Lucy and Mira chuckled at their friend. "They always serve the best food at these events," Mira commented.

"But why do we have to sit so far away from Gray-sama?!" Juvia cried. Levy and Erza giggled at their friend. Lucy glanced around the room, trying to locate just where Audio Uproar was sat. They weren't in the immediate facility so she figured they were closer to the executive and producer tables; which would make sense since they aren't technically part of the competition. In the midst of looking through the crowd, Lucy noticed a small tuft of pink poking out from behind someone's shoulder.

Lucy leaned back just slightly in her chair to confirm her suspicions. Just as she leaned back, she saw he did as well, except his chair teetered on the back two feet. Lucy continued to stare at her goofy friend as her bandmates continued their conversation around her.

She watched as a smile grew across his face and she couldn't help but reciprocate. Seeing her smile made him smile even more. The moment was broken when Gray poked Natsu in the chest, causing him to almost lose his balance and fall backwards; however, Natsu quickly grabbed onto the table and pulled himself forward.

Lucy turned her attention back to those at her table and joined back into the conversation.

Dessert had been served and much to Erza's delight, it was strawberry cake. The girls had a hard time limiting Erza to just three pieces. Levy was giggling softly to Lucy about some comment Riley had made to her earlier when she felt someone walk up behind them. The girls looked over their shoulder and saw a well-dressed Gajeel standing there patiently. "Mind if I steal sh- uh…I mean Levy away for a dance." Levy looked back at Lucy and squealed before gladly accepting his offer.

Levy practically skipped to the dance floor with Gajeel in tow. "We can dance now?!" Juvia practically screamed as she stood up. Before the blunette could run off, Mira grabbed her by the wrist and pulled her back down to her chair. "Wait, Juvia. I know you want to dance with Gray but you need to wait here."

"Wait here, why?"

"Make him come to you, Juvia," Erza clarified. Juvia pouted and Mira rubbed her shoulder encouragingly.

"Pardon me," the girls turned to see Jellal at the table now. "Erza, can I have this dance?" A blush crept up Erza's cheeks as she slowly reached out her hands to his and let him lead her away.

"Yes!" Mira cheered to herself… or so she thought. Lucy and Juvia looked at their manager. "I've been trying to get those two together for years!" Lucy looked back at the couple who were now dancing happily. At least she wasn't the only one who thought so.

"Excuse me, Lucy?" Lucy turned to see the lead singer from the Grimoire Heart band standing beside her. "I'd like to cash in on that dance if you don't mind." Lucy nodded her head and stood to follow the man to the dancefloor.

From across the room, Natsu turned angrily and slowly slid down in his chair. "Someone's in a mood," Gray remarked.

"Shut it Ice Face, I don't see you making a move," Natsu snapped back.

"Hey!" Laxus slammed his hands down on the table, shocking both boys. "Will you two shut up already?! Tonight is a night to celebrate, not for you two to have a pissy fit. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to be a real man and ask a beautiful woman to dance." Laxus stood up and adjusted his coat before approaching AU's table. Natsu and Gray watched as he spoke to Mira who nodded and then the two approach the dancefloor.

"Why don't you just go ask her to dance?" Natsu spoke softly. Gray looked over to his friend. "I could ask you the same question." Natsu responded by glaring back at Gray. Natsu shook his head, "Dude, if you ever listen to anything I have to say, listen now." Gray leaned in. "Go over there and ask the poor girl to dance." Gray followed Natsu's gaze and saw Juvia sitting impatiently at the table as she bounced her leg up and down. "Look at her, Gray."

Gray swallowed before standing up ad storming over to Juvia. He reached out his hands and began to speak, "Juvia, will you- ugh!" Juvia jumped into the man's arms before he could finish, then drug him out to the floor with her friends. Natsu chuckled at the girl's antics before sighing.

His eyes went from Gray and Juvia to Lucy, who was now dancing with someone new. His eyes left that sight before landing on Lisanna who was seated straight across the dancefloor from him. Her eyes were deadlocked on him and her facial expression blank. Without breaking eye contact with her, he stood up and walked over to her table. As he walked over to her, another set of eyes watched his each and every step… a certain blonde who was interested in the conversation that was about to happen.

"Surprised to see you over here; change your mind about us?" she said coyly.

"Lisanna, you need to drop this whole thing."

"Whatever are you talking about?"

"Don't play dumb with me, Lis." Lisanna's sift expression turned more sinister. "You started this."

"No, you did. You broke my heart when you chose Bixlow over me." Lisanna seemed to soften a bit at that comment. "Broke your heart? How do you think I felt when you chose her?!" Lisanna raised her voice, but not enough to draw attention to them.

"I didn't choose her, I chose me." Lisanna seemed confused by the comment. "I chose to care for myself for once rather than constantly worry about pleasing everyone else around me. I chose to do what was best for me… and that meant losing you."

Lisanna was a bit taken aback by his actions; she knew Natsu to be a caring man but had never seen him so gentle. "I'm sorry my actions made you want to leave Fairy Tail and drove you to this. If you want to take out your anger, your pain on someone, do it to me… leave Lucy and the girls out of this."

"I thought you said this was about you…"

"I did, but things seemed to have changed." He said as he watched the blonde twirling and laughing on the dance floor in the arms of another man.

"You care about her don't you?" Lisanna asked softly.

"I care about all my nakama…" Natsu turned his head back towards Lisanna, "And that includes you." Lisanna was stunned by the whole conversation. Natsu took Lisanna's hand in his own, "I want you to be happy, wherever that maybe. Whether it be at Fairy Tail or with your new band… you deserve to be happy." A small tear fell from Lisanna's eye which she quickly wiped away. "Thank you, Natsu," she said as she wrapped her arms around Natsu's neck. "I'm sorry for… everything."

Natsu released her and looked at Lisanna's smiling face. "Go get her," Lisanna coaxed him as she pushed him towards the dancefloor. He gladly accepted the push and let his feet continue their path towards her. Time seemed to slow down with every step he took in her direction. Gray smiled as his friend passed, following his own advice. Mira squealed which Laxus muffed by pressing Mira's face into his chest. Levy smiled and held onto Gajeel tighter.

Lucy never saw him approach; she turned away when she saw the two hug. She didn't know what to make of it so she decided to ignore it for now. The man Lucy was dancing with stopped when he felt a tap on his shoulder. The man turned to allow Lucy to view Natsu, who was smiling happily. "May I cut in?" The man reluctantly agreed and allowed Natsu to take Lucy by the hand.

"Hey," the pinkette simply stated.

"Hi" the blonde responded. "What was that all about?" The blonde tipped her head towards Lisanna who was now being asked to dance by the male she was just dancing with. "Should I be worried?"

"On the contrary, I think you should feel relieved."

"Relieved? That seems a lot given the events up until this point."

"Well the point of tonight is to let go and have fun." Lucy finally decided to smile at him. "So… what's your idea of 'letting go and having fun?'"

"I can think of a few things but… dancing with a beautiful woman definitely tops the list." Natsu smiled at her as she blushed deeply.

"I thought you guys couldn't 'fraternize' with us." Natsu leaned in closer to her. "No rules tonight. I can do anything I want." Lucy leaned in closer to Natsu as well. "So what is it that you want?" Lucy could have sworn Natsu's eyes flicked down to her lips as he took a breath in.

"Can I get the final three bands to the stage please," Coco called, jolting Lucy and Natsu away from one another. Lucy was too stunned by the images running through her mind of what possibly could have happened to notice the sighs of disappointment around her.

Lucy regretfully pulled away from her partner and took the stage with her bandmates. Gray walked over to Natsu and roughly placed a hand on his shoulder, "Maybe next time… you should learn to be quicker, Flame Brain."

'You know, girls don't like it when I guy is too quick," Natsu glanced down at Gray's lower half before returning his eyes to his face. "Why you!" Gray pulled his fist back but the two were shoved away by Laxus.

"Come on, boys, time to head back. We've got a busy day tomorrow." Laxus grabbed the two by the backs of their collars and pulled them out the door. Lucy sighed disappointedly as she watched AU leave the room. She put on a smile for the individual band pictures and for the finalist group photo.

"You okay, Lu-chan?" Levy asked as she rubbed her hand on Lucy's arm.

"I'll be fine, Levy-chan. Let's just get to bed and kill this show tomorrow." Levy gave her best friend an encouraging thumbs up before joining up with the girls again. Lucy looked towards her bandmates then towards the golden microphone that rested in the glass cage near the front of the room. So close, but yet so far…
