Kim Possible: Reaching You

Chapter 34

Shego and Yori listened intently as the redhead spoke, both girls far past the point of absolute worry and doing everything they could to make the weeping teen comfortable, all the while ignoring her insistence that she was fine. They had her in bed in a heartbeat, dressed down to lighter clothing, with food and drink supplied, almost as if Kim were an infant that couldn't convey her wants and they therefore tried everything until she was placated. After a while, the redhead simply silenced herself and almost seemed to enjoy their doting.

Finally, the two sat with her on her bed and basically forced her to spill as much as possible as to what had occurred these past two days. They knew she'd been hiding something, they were to that point where Kim's body language alone told more than others would ever notice, but the redhead's ability to circumvent their worry was frustratingly impressive. There was only one reason Kim Possible would think to hide something from the two people closest to her: she was protecting them.

From what, they weren't sure, but a silent deal had been brokered that she wouldn't be allowed to leave the bed until she'd come clean. With hesitance, she'd finally relented and told them in vivid detail about the parent who'd come to the school and dared to lay an ultimatum at her feet. Sheridan listened intently and felt her pulse quicken with every offense this stupid woman dared to commit. She waited for a name, anything to clue her in on the person who'd signed the permission slip for their own personal ass kicking.

Kim was smart, though, and never named the parent. Shego had her figured out long before she'd finished, having noticed the girl's deliberate way of speaking and actively choosing her words as carefully as possible. She even eyed the green teen multiple times and laid a comforting hand on her own as if to calm her. Eventually, Shego pulled her hand away and walked across the room, leaning against the door and allowing her to continue from a distance.

It clearly bothered her, but Kim's eyes only gave her understanding as she finished her tale. She then leaned against the headboard and awaited the two's response. Sheridan somehow found the will to not pop off at the mouth, actually afraid of saying something she might regret. She loved Kim, loved her with every fiber, but she disliked her at that moment. After all this time, after all they'd been through, she still couldn't trust them to have her back in such a difficult situation. She was the same old redhead who refused to allow others to help her shoulder loads.

"Why did you not tell us until now?" Yori sounded as hurt as she felt.

"I couldn't," Kim's face mirrored that hurt. "It was easier if it was just me taking the brunt of it."

"I don't know if you've noticed," Shego growled, "but we aren't wilting flowers. We're just as capable of bearing that load as you."

"It wasn't about bearing a load. It was about protecting you."

"I don't need protection," her voice rose. "I needed to put that bitch in her place."

"And then you'd have been expelled…and then your parents would have come to take you home…and I wouldn't get to see you anymore."

The small, pitiful choke she'd given mid-sentence sucked most of the fight from the angry girl. Yes, she would have popped off at the mouth, if the bitch had been lucky. Then again, she'd already assaulted two people just yesterday, so she had no doubts it would continue and much more viciously. She growled under her breath and forced herself to admit that Kim was right. Shego would've boned it up even harder had she been present.

"And me?" Yori urged her on.

Kim turned to her, "You're not ready for this to be made public. You can make it known when you're ready. No one else gets to decide that."

Shame took the girl's face and she visibly retreated into herself with a frown. Kim grabbed her hand as well, more to ensure she didn't attempt an escape than anything else. They were all silent as their thoughts raced over their own unique dilemmas.

"I'm sorry," the redhead needed to get them speaking again. "I did what I thought was best for both of you."

"We know that," Shego sneered, but far less angrily than before. "It's just irritating knowing we didn't help."

"You did. I thought of both of you the entire time. It helped me more than you know."

She stuck out her tongue in mock disgust, "That's lame. You'd better be glad you're an awesome person or I'd think you were full of shit."

"Forgive me?" she smiled warmly.

Sheridan blushed, but shrugged, "You're nowhere near as cute as you think you are."

"Yes I am."

They chuckled and she was in love all over again. God, she couldn't fathom the thought of never having come to this place and gotten to know this girl. She was so important now, like an organ she simply couldn't function properly without. It wasn't even codependency either. She didn't feel like she was lacking something with Kim's affection. It only made her stronger and better. She even understood Shego intimately enough to defend her against her own stupidity.

Yori suddenly stood with her head lowered, "Excuse me, I need some time to think."

Kim's soft plea for her to wait was ignored as she kept her eyes low and made for the door. Without even unfolding her arms, Sheridan quickly stepped sideways to block her trajectory. She let out a tiny huff as she was forced to halt, knowing full well she wasn't capable of going through the bigger girl.

"What's the problem with thinking here?" she asked. "Three heads are better than one."

"Move," the shorter girl almost commanded.

Wow. Not even a please or an excuse me. She must be just south of upset by this point. Still, the green teen had no intention of moving until she'd deciphered why Yori was so distraught. She abandoned the tough girl attitude and switched to the same loving, kind attitude she'd used when she'd held her and comforted her the day before. Yori was a sucker for that crap and, honestly, Sheridan sorta, kinda liked treating her that way.

"You know you can talk to us about anything. That's why we're here."

"I do not question your affections," she clenched her teeth.

"Then what?"

She stayed silent and Shego saw Kim begin to slowly move from the bed, sneaking up behind the little Asian with playful mischief in her eyes. Shego stifled a grin and held Yori's attention until the redhead was directly behind her. None the wiser, Yori finally looked up at Sheridan and opened her mouth to make some sort of protest.

"Sexy sandwich!" Kim yelled and pressed her frame against Yori's back, sending her smashing softly into the taller girl.

Playing along, Shego wrapped her arms around them both and trapped the small girl in between them, whilst Kim did the same. Yori made a little cry of surprise and then attempted to escape, but the two had none of it and made sport in keeping her lovingly squished between them. She struggled valiantly, so Sheridan took the opportunity to press her face into her chest, cackling wickedly at how quickly Yori's face reddened.

"Stop it!" Yori roared and something smashed into Shego's gut.

It was a solid enough hit to slightly wind the girl and then she saw the same had occurred to Kim, but the girl had no door to halt her backwards momentum and she crashed onto the bed with a startled look. Yori made room between them, breathing through her teeth as the first hint of a tear rolled down her cheek. The sight visibly hurt the other girls. Then, Yori noticed Shego nursing her sore stomach and the tears fell free.

"I am sorry," she gulped. "I…"

"It's cool," she stood upright, still frowning. "Just a love tap."

"It is not love," she whimpered. "You two love one another. I am just a hanger-on."

"That's not true," Kim pushed back to her feet. "Are you saying…you don't love us?"

"How can I? Sheridan openly fights with all her might for you. You risk your reputation to protect her. I…just sit back in my safe little world and hide my feelings like it is something to be ashamed over. What right do I have to say I love either of you when I refuse to make these same sacrifices?!"

"First of all," Sheridan felt a bit of uppity gumption enter her, "I fight for both of you and Kim risked her reputation for both of us. Secondly, neither of us ever expected you to open up to this to anyone until you were ready."

"And how fair is that?!" she was on the verge of wailing now. "What kind of person does that make me?!"

"Last I checked? One of the most sincerely honest and sweet people I've ever met. And I know Kim Possible."

"You have your reasons," Kim reassured her a bit more sweetly than Shego. "We understand them and never held them against you."

"I hold them against me!" the smaller girl whipped her head around to say to the redhead and then returned to staring up slightly at Shego. "Move."

Fat chance. The green girl kept her arms crossed, swelled just a little to accentuate what little capability the girl had of moving her, and simply stared into her defiantly. She was already a little peeved and this hadn't helped and she knew a cooler-headed touch was needed, but that was so not her forte. She wanted to reassure the girl somehow that this wasn't needed, that she was as into her as she could possibly be all things considered, but her attitude and her affection warred with each other.

"Let her go, Shego," Kim frowned.

Sheridan glanced at Kim quickly, questionably, and then back down to the glaring girl.

"She needs to decide this on her own," the redhead continued unhappily. "It's not our place to force her. I just hope…you make the decision that makes you happiest."

"Fine," she finally relented and stepped aside.

"I am sorry," Yori opened the door.

"I don't want your apologies…I want you."

A little quiver of her lips was all she offered as she exited in haste and the two girls watched her go. It hurt Shego's chest to see her so distraught, but Kim was right. This wasn't their decision. Yori had to choose them. It might have been selfish coming from someone who'd already gotten Kim, but the green girl silently hoped she made the choice that brought her back to them.

Yori's face was adequately wiped free of tears before she dared to drive home, which meant the sorrow was mostly stemmed. All she had left was guilt now. Guilt over how useless she had turned out to be in comparison to those two. Guilt over how she'd treated them just now. She wasn't one to focus on the negative, she had too much good in her life for that, but she couldn't escape that funk that covered her like a fog and dogged her incessantly.

She'd tried so hard, she knew she had, and she'd been rewarded with their affection far more easily than even she could have predicted. She honestly believed the two saw her as something worthwhile, though clearly not as deeply as they saw each other. That didn't matter; it was more than enough for her only because of how genuine it had been. Now, she was forced to confront the real fear that it hadn't been enough.

They'd both sacrificed something to achieve one another. The adversity had only strengthened their love, but Yori had to wonder what she'd done to earn such loyalty. Nothing of any note besides being the best for them she could possibly be. That wasn't enough. It never truly had been and anyone but those perfect two would have called her on it by now. At least, they should have.

She pulled into the drive of her temporary home, making certain to clean herself enough to avoid suspicion from her current guardians and housemate. She didn't enjoy avoiding their outright kindness, but she wasn't ready to speak to anyone and it would almost certainly turn to a heart to heart if she wasn't careful. She entered quickly, gave a short hello to the family downstairs and excused herself to catch up on schoolwork she'd been caught up on before she'd even left class.

She locked her door, tossed her items to the floor and quickly hugged a pillow as she fell onto the bed. She'd never come home this way while in Japan. She'd never be allowed to retreat to her room without proper conversations with her parents about her day. She even took the time to notice she'd worn her shoes upstairs. She chuckled humorlessly at that. Only a half year in and she'd already lost the habit of removing them at the door.

She liked that. She loved her home; she missed her home achingly, but every moment spent thinking of leaving this place and especially the people here filled her with just as much pain. She forced herself to confront these emotions and asked herself as sincerely as possible: how much did she care for those two? Those two girls who filled her with something she didn't care to describe, as quantifying it would somehow lessen its intensity.

Love? As far as she understood the concept, she had no qualms referring to it as such. Their company made her happier, brighter, as if they staved off negativity. Then again, Tara did that as well. Tara wasn't a recipient of her affection though, and did nowhere near as much to Yori's body as Sheridan did. The simple thought of the dark haired girl made her heart skip. Kim was cute, but Sheridan was sexy. Sheridan was standoffishly brave, but Kim was irresistibly warmhearted.

She loved both for how differently similar they were. She couldn't love just one. She couldn't ignore how she felt about both and she had no clue what to do with that. At least, no outcome that saw it being easy and simple. And that was the dilemma she dealt with now, curled up around her pillow and breathing deeply, trying in vain to not only understand what she wanted, but what it would cost her to have it.

Was it worth it? This moment of happiness was only that: a moment. She wasn't long for this country and this relationship. As much joy as it brought her, was it worth what she might possibly lose should it be revealed? Especially if she weren't allowed to enjoy it for much longer? Precisely how much did the two mean to her? She knew the answer to that immediately. The only part that forced her hesitation now was which part of herself she allowed to make this decision. Would it be her heart or her brain?

She glanced to her desk and saw the laptop she'd brought, lying there like a portal to another world where she belonged, where she would return eventually. Return to the people who'd loved her since birth. But would they love her as intensely if she turned her back on everything they'd raised her to be? Was it worth even choosing? She was strong, but she wasn't like Kim and Sheridan; she wasn't brave. She'd never been outwardly brave in her entire life. She'd never had anything worth testing her courage over.

She wasn't brave. She stood and sat at her desk, opened her laptop and hesitated over the mouse as the screen flared to life. She never needed to be brave. She never had something worth enough to fight for with all her might. Perhaps…she had that now. She knew what her decision would be. She rested her hand on the mouse and double tapped the Skype icon. It would be early morning in Japan now. She wasn't brave.

But she could be.

Shego hated it when shit was weird. She enjoyed some breaks in daily monotony, but when it began to affect the best parts of her, she tended to take it a bit more personally that necessary. Scratch that, she had every right to be peeved when the two people she cared for the most behaved strangely and refused to allow her inside enough to at least take part in the worry. She knew what was up with Kim, though the girl still refused to name the jerkoffs that dared threaten her and their relationship.

Yori, on the other hand, had avoided their calls since the previous night and had shown up to school that morning looking like she'd gotten precisely zero seconds of rest. Her baggy eyes did nothing to corrupt the absolute lovability she naturally gave off, but she only responded to Sheridan and Kim's questions and worry with a hand wave and a promise to talk after she'd "done some thinking". That kind of talk never ended well for relationships.

Combined with Kim's reserved attitude, the green teen needed someone to lighten the mood and run by an idea she'd been plotting since last night. She knew of only one person who never failed in lifting spirits.

"'Sup, nerd," she spoke as she smacked Ron across is undefended rear.

The blond made little reaction other than laughing and ceasing to rifle through his locker, "Sheeg! To what do I owe the pleasure of you being able to see me?"

"Just reminding you you're fortunate enough to know me. Plus, I need some Ronshine stat; the girls are going through a non-lovey faze and I'm needy at times."

"Yeah, those two seem indisposed mentally. My condolences. You could always date the Ronster. No drama whatsoever on this end."

"Maybe grow some boobs and red or black hair and we'll talk."

"Don't tempt me. So, what's the dealio on KiYo being so…90210?"

"Easy on the alliteration, Eminem," she chuckled and decided to fill him in on their conversation yesterday; of all the people she could trust to keep it down low, Ron was up there.

He listened intently as he procured his textbooks and walked with her to class. Talking it out made her feel a bit better, though her more action oriented side wished to be doing more than spectating while her girlfriends waxed melancholy.

"That's heavy," he frowned, looking properly annoyed. "I wouldn't expect Kim to pony up any more info, though. She seems intent on protecting these people from you."

"It isn't that. Kim understands the worst concept of letting bygones be bygones. She willingly took the last blow and dealt with it just so it could end peacefully. I hate her guts for bearing that by herself, but...I love the absolute shit out of her for being able to."

"You're a lucky girl," he stood outside the classroom and waited until closer to class beginning.

"Damn straight. Anyways, I wanted to run an idea by you for this weekend. I wanna do a little celebration/ party and I want you and the nerd patrol to attend."

"By my stars and garters, I'm being invited to a party," he put a hand to his chest in faked whimsy. "Moving on up."

"And it's exclusive, so feel free to brag about it to anyone who gives a damn."

"So, we all squeezing into the Possible household?"

She laughed with theatrical pompousness, "Oh, silly peasant. You are aware I have a mansion on the city limits, right?"

His eyes widened slightly, "But, dear Sheridan, won't there be positively no parents there to supervise?"

"Which is why we won't be doing anything untoward. Seriously, no alcohol stronger than bitch beers and absolutely no one I didn't invite. I have the ability and the desire to throw intruders off my property."

"Duly noted," he smiled, glanced into the class and then looked back to her with a look of trepidation. "Hey, um…"

Before he could continue, a figure stepped into the doorway and Shego felt her hair rise in response. The bleached blonde debutante returned her unfriendly greeting and they glared at each other for a moment before Camille spoke to Ron of all people.

"I have your papers in my bag. Thanks again for letting me borrow them."

Ron's demeanor changed to a less relaxed state, "No worries. Just ask if you ever need help."

She nodded and actually gave him a smile that didn't border on condescending, gave Shego a much less inviting squint, and then disappeared back into the room. She couldn't miss the way Ron watched her go with clear interest. The dark haired girl growled a bit from how dumb the boy could be and smacked his shoulder.

"Ronald Stoppable, I will probably never say this to you ever again, but you can do better."

He colored slightly, something she wasn't used to seeing from him, "Shut up! She just needed help with her homework!"

She stared him down in silence as his stance visibly wavered beneath the scowl he gave her. Finally, he blew out an air of submission and lowered his head.

"Fine. I went to her to apologize for calling her out in public at the mall and she didn't immediately tell me to piss off. She actually spoke to me for a bit and, maybe she's just sad from breaking up with Junior, she got around to mentioning problems with assignments and now here we are."

Shego rolled her eyes, "You're such a sucker for pretty faces. Just don't get into anything that's gonna force me to whip ass or else you'll really owe me."

"You promise to defend my honor?" he clasped his hands and gave over exaggerated eye blinks.

She shoved a hand into his stupidly charming face, "Defend your own honor. I have enough princesses, thank you."

He laughed and slapped her hand away playfully, then got a thoughtful expression, "Say…if it's cool with you, and feel free to say no, but...can I invite her to your party?"

Her stomach turned a bit from that thought and she wanted to scream no and possibly kick him for good measure, but she allowed a cooler head to prevail. While she had no doubt she and Camille couldn't exist in a room without having a bitch fight, she also realized that Ron had been nothing but a good friend all this time and was owed something in return. Besides, Kim and Yori's presence combined would undo anything negative Cam could manage.

She rested a hand on her hip, "Why not? But trust me, you make sure she's on her best behavior or I'll toss her out and it won't be from the ground floor."

He smiled toothily, clearly enamored with the blonde, "You're the best, Sheeg! Can't wait until the weekend."

The party gave them something to think about besides all the annoying goings on that simply couldn't be helped at that moment. Yori was finally talking to them, albeit in short bursts, but she hadn't agreed to come to Sheridan's party whatsoever. They didn't want to accuse her of outright avoiding them, but the girl could only think of so many excuses before it became infuriating. Kim always reminded Shego to be patient and understanding, because Yori wouldn't hesitate to do the same for them. Stupid, cute redhead and her sensible disposition.

Instead of focusing on that, Sheridan went about planning and setting up for the party. Their customized kitchen was absolutely perfect for hosting an event and she took advantage by procuring or preparing a variety of culinary delicacies and finger foods. She even called on Driver and his limo to bring back about three dozen pizzas. Combined with pretty much any flavor of drink and snack imaginable, they managed to layout a smorgasbord of epic proportion.

To top it all off, Kim somehow convinced her parents to allow them to stay out all night as long as she promised to not go adventuring into the city too late into the night. The redhead promised they'd mostly be at the mansion and Shego's head spun from how trusting the adults were. Then again, Kim had more than earned it and they weren't planning on anything too questionable. At least, not something they hadn't already been up to in their own rooms.

To the surprise of no one, Shego was planning on a romantic night with Kim since it appeared Yori was MIA for the evening. It would be nice to have some alone time that didn't involve worrying they'd forgotten to lock the door and might possibly be walked in on by a very surprised duo of adult Possibles. Then she'd get to explain how she deflowered their daughter and even those two wouldn't be that understanding.

"Earth to Shego," Kim's hand waved in front of her as she stared at the front door of her home away from home. "You that excited about the guests?"

"Sorry," she wrapped her arms around Kim's neck. "I was daydreaming about you."

"Really? What about?"

"You'll find out," she gave a seductive look and the redhead turned redder, but never relinquished her grip.

"Can't wait," she said and meant it, but still looked a bit sullen. "I miss Yori."

She squeezed a bit tighter, "I know, me too. Maybe she'll show."

"I hope so," then she let a cute smile show. "You keep me close tonight so I don't feel lonely?"

She answered by giving her a long, slow, soft kiss. The way Kim pulled her closer almost by reflex made her head swim and heartbeat increase. It took considerable effort to not take her right there, amongst the pizza and soda-covered tables, but their guests would be there any moment and Sheridan wasn't one for putting on a show; especially not letting anyone else see those parts of Kim only she'd been allowed to witness. No one wanted to test how possessive she could be.

You know you're in for an exciting time when most of the guests arrive early. They'd instructed everyone to arrive around six, but Bonnie, Tara, Josh and Brick were there well before, with Ron, Wade, Zita and Felix not far behind. It spoke volumes to just how close their group of friends had become as everyone arrived all smiles and ready to throw down for whatever was planned. To be safe, the girls had encouraged everyone to bring something of their own to do and they'd decide as a group.

Bonnie's crew brought alcohol, bitch beers of course, and proclaimed that anything was fun as long as you were adequately toasted. Ron's group made up for the previous lack of creativity by bringing in a haul of board games with weird names and even weirder rules. They also brought over some bizarre sounding B-movies, many of them foreign. If anything, they were in for an intriguing night; even more so guaranteed when Camille of all people showed.

She stood at the door like she was a burglar, nervously twitching and awaiting for Shego to invite her inside. It took Ron rounding the corner and calling for her to join before the green girl stepped aside to allow her access. The blonde girl immediately snatched up a beer and nursed it as she hovered around Ron like she was afraid to catch a disease from the others. Even Ron's friends were taken aback by Camille's sudden inclusion. Just like she'd thought: an intriguing night indeed.

They began with food and the mood couldn't have been more jovial. Somehow, either through sheer effort or some other mystical enchantment, they'd managed to make a room full of vastly different people mesh into one of camaraderie. Shego had always seen cliques from her school attempt to mingle and it always ended dramatically. It seemed most people weren't capable of associating past their own comfort zones, which meant one was forced to choose a side and stick to it.

That was blissfully not the case with their group. For all that Kim had given her, and nothing could compare, there were certain things the redhead couldn't offer her that Ron or Tara or Josh could, whether it be ideas or viewpoints. She'd always understood the concept of needing to live outside your comfort zone, but she'd never truly appreciated it until she'd experienced it firsthand. Even at their strangest, they seemed to revel in each other's differences as opposed to being unnerved by them.

Ron could be annoying, but his sense of humor could reach anyone. Wade wasn't openly friendly, but he was brilliant beyond his years. Josh could be a bit vain, but his heart was so firmly planted in the right place when it came to his loyalty and good-natured attitude. They all had quirks, but they didn't allow those things to force a wedge between them. Above it all, they shared a common understanding or acceptance of whatever Sheridan, Kim and Yori had together. Josh clearly didn't grasp the concept and Zita and Felix seemed a bit weirded out by it at times, but that never stopped any of them from speaking to her and that meant something.

The crew eventually moved on to board games and that was an adventure in and of itself. Some were irritated by the bizarre rules, some simply didn't comprehend them, but it never felt like it was a failure. Everyone present was either too headstrong, intelligent or increasingly tipsy to throw in the towel, so it devolved into madness as everyone guffawed over the innate silliness of it all. Two board games later and they were just getting into the swing of a raucous night.

Everyone then moved into the entertainment room upstairs, complete with sixty inch TV and enough furniture to house everyone comfortably. The doorbell downstairs rang, so Sheridan instructed the group to select a movie as she rushed downstairs, all the while wondering who else it could be and secretly hoping it was someone specific. Kim must have had the same idea, because she was on the green girl's heels until they reached the entrance.

They threw open the door and were rewarded with the visage of the one person they'd both been hoping to see all night. Yori stood shyly only inches from the doorway with hands clasped in front of her and face turning crimson as she saw the two. She heard Kim's breath catch, but she held her own reaction until the girl had had her moment to speak. Secretly, she feared what she may say until she noticed she was dressed for a night out.

It took a long moment before she finally cleared her throat, "I…am not sure how to say this. I feel I must apologize for the way I have behaved these past few days, but…"

"Oh, just shut the hell up and come kiss us," Shego was not intent on doing this whole rigmarole; she'd missed the girl more than she'd admit.

Her face glowed a bit more with a smile, but she still hesitated as she pulled at the hem of her skirt, "That seems unfair after my behavior…"

"Kim, get her."

The redhead stepped past her, snatched the girl up onto shoulder like a bag of vegetables, and carried her inside as Yori made cute little noises of nervous joy and begged to be let down. Kim, as strong as she was, had no problem with attempting to climb the stairs with her in tow. Shego cackled as the dark haired girl half-fought to free herself, but decided against the display as soon as she spied the view her position gave.

"Might wanna drop her, Pumpkin," she smiled lecherously, "or else everyone else gets the same panty view I have now."

Yori squealed in embarrassment and pressed her dress down to her legs as Kim lightly placed her onto her feet and kept her held close, "I'm so sorry."

"I'm not," the green teen purred.

"You're incorrigible!" the pretty Asian accused without so much as a hint of displeasure, despite how hard she might have tried.

Kim giggled and held onto her lovingly, physically showcasing exactly how jubilant she was to see the girl. The redhead had feared the worst from this, though she'd never admitted to it out loud. Shego had silently joined in her fear that Yori would have showed and spoken the words neither wanted to hear. Though she did appear a bit tired, she still accepted their teasing and Kim's bodily proximity, which could only mean nothing had changed.

Yori sighed happily and placed her forehead against Kim's, "I am truly sorry. You two deserved more than my second guessing."

"It's fine," Kim spoke with the softness only she possessed. "We never held it against you. We never wanted you to be uncomfortable with this. If you're here, it needs to be because you chose to be here."

"I do," she somehow pulled herself closer and kissed Kim. "I need to be here. I am so sorry if I gave any indication otherwise."

The intensity with which she held the redhead couldn't be deciphered any other way. Shego warmed at seeing the two like that. It was a tad weird, definitely, but there was some indescribable joy in the visual itself. Still, Kim didn't get to have all the fun.

Shego crossed her arms and mock pouted, "Kim may have forgiven you, but I haven't. I just don't know if I could ever be consoled after all that."

She feigned disinterest as the darker haired girl gave her a curious look, grinned lightly and walked to her until they pressed together and her arms wrapped lovingly about the taller girl's neck. Without words, Yori kissed her as well and the green girl dove into that with aplomb. Jesus, how could both she and Kim have such powerful, yet different, tastes? How was she fortunate enough to be allowed to experience both? Who cared?

A bit of saliva stayed attached momentarily as they detached and Yori smiled brightly, "Forgive me now?"

"I'll manage," she said breathily and grabbed a handful of the girl's buttocks quickly. "But I won't apologize for that."

She'd been expecting some kind of overreaction, counting on it honestly, but Yori's response wasn't to squeal or retreat. Instead, she drew herself closer, stood on her toes and bit her lip as though Sheridan had just hit an erogenous zone. Desire swam in her eyes and it almost physically rocked the taller girl. She might have let go out of surprise, but she was forced to steady the shorter girl with that same grip on her posterior.

"Why would I want you to apologize?" Yori said huskily and Shego's heart exploded.

She could have sworn the pounding of her chest was actually knocking Yori away, but the girl held her position and silently stared into Shego's eyes with sincere want. Her brain melted at that thought and she looked to Kim for assistance, but the redhead was currently burning red in the cheeks and standing ramrod straight with glazed eyes.

Horniness engaging! Abort! Abort!

Sheridan sputtered a bit before pushing Yori back only a smidge, "They, uh, everyone is waiting upstairs. Best not keep them waiting."

Yori dropped to her heels slowly, still staring into the other girl and swallowing nervously, "Indeed. Lead the way."

"Kim. Kim," the redhead didn't respond. "Earth to Kim!"

She finally shook to life, "Yes, fine thanks, I mean…let's go."

She bum rushed the stairs clumsily and the other two looked on as she disappeared before slowly following after.

The group welcomed Yori with excited cheers and they all snuggled in to watch a bizarre movie Ron and Brick had selected called Dead Alive. Kim had hopes when she saw it was directed by Peter Jackson of all people, but she was astonished to find the film to be a horrendously gory and violent creature feature, complete with a karate fighting priest and enough blood and body parts to shame a world war. The gore was hilarious to some, sickening to others, but everyone was enjoying just how…unashamed the movie was in its lunacy.

On the plus side, the movie showcased exactly how close the group had become as far as relationships were concerned. Yori almost immediately found refuge in Kim's shirt, making little moans of displeasure whenever something gross occurred. Kim wasn't faring much better, but she found the resolve to be strong for Yori's sake. Then, Shego wrapped an arm around her, giving her a shoulder to hide her eyes within without relinquishing her hold on Yori. It was a near perfect representation of their bonds as a trio.

Bonnie was all over Brick as soon as she'd decided the movie wasn't for her. He'd attempted to watch, but her cleavage revealing tee was too powerful and they hadn't stopped making out for a half hour now. They'd attempted to find some privacy, but Sheridan had warned them if she smelled sex anywhere in the house, it'd be their asses on the line. The brunette called her a bitch and settled for heavy petting.

Tara and Josh enjoyed the movie on a bean bag on the floor and had somehow found a way for the smaller girl to lay against his chest. They looked so cute together and Kim could tell they were into each other. Honestly, there was no one better for the platinum blonde than the quiet, yet honest boy. He was a hell of a lot better than Junior.

Ron found Camille's reactions more entertaining than the film, as the debutante went from disgusted to confusedly enthralled the longer she watched. She even laughed with him at the lawnmower scene at the end and the two honestly seemed friendly. Strange, but then again strange things were constantly happening. Ron was cool and it was about time the hierarchy realized it.

Felix, Wade and Zita found their own little trio and enjoyed the movie immensely, though Kim couldn't fathom it'd been their first viewing. As always, Wade and Zita hovered just close enough to each other, but never quite made that connection everyone was waiting for. At this rate, they probably never would, no matter how much subtle/ unsubtle prodding their group gave them.

Kim took stock of where they all were and what they'd gone through to get there and she felt content. More than that, she felt like she were in the midst of an after battle high, having found a comfortable position in life. More than anything, she and the people around her seemed to be legitimately happy and that was something she never knew could feel so calming until the moment she realized she'd achieved it. She didn't overthink it. She just held Yori and allowed Shego to hold her and basked in it until the last possible second.

They went through another movie, an utterly terrible remake of Cabin Fever that everyone in the room panned as it played, before Ron's crew packed up and headed out for the night. Kim had questioned why they were leaving so early, as it was only around eleven, but they each gave their own, strained reason for exiting before thanking Shego for having them. Camille left immediately afterward with nary a word or thanks. Brick and a rather sloshed Bonnie left soon afterward, as B needed to be taken home before she passed out.

They had to go back upstairs to locate Josh and Tara and accidentally walked in on the two having a rather heated make out session. Sheridan encouraged them to continue, but Tara embarrassingly muttered that she needed to get home and asked Josh to accompany her for safety. He was far more than willing. And then there were three as they'd wished everyone farewell and returned to inside the abode.

Shego led Kim up to her room and found Yori sitting on the bed, taking in all the little doodads and baubles decorating the green girl's temporary home. It was a tad barebones, but what dominated the private space screamed the person they'd grown to know up to that point. With deliberate slowness, as if she feared scaring the girl, Kim sat next to her and touched shoulders.

"What's on your mind?" she asked sweetly.

"Too much," Yori sounded a bit tired, but she shrugged it off with that pure smile she possessed most of the day. "Mostly the two of you these days."

"Good things, I'd hope," Sheridan jumped up onto the headboard like a cat and sat looking down on the two.

"Thoughts about the two greatest people I have ever met? Yes, they are most assuredly good things."

"She's buttering us up," Shego mused. "That means she has bad news."

Yori chuckled, "I was honestly contemplating my own feelings. My little breakdown the other day forced me to make a finalized decision about…us. Whatever you would wish to call what we have."

"Awesomely weird?" Kim offered and entwined their arms.

"Among other things. In the end, I pondered precisely what I brought to the table that would make us a whole as opposed to my being a simple hanger-on. I know Kim and I started our relationship first, but the two of you fell for one another before that. You just did not realize it. If my presence complicated that…I do not wish to put strain on whatever the two of you may have."

Sheridan blew a mocking raspberry, "You make it sound like this is just your decision. I don't speak for Kim, but I wouldn't just let you go if you tried to leave. You's mine now, little one, until you can claim you don't care about me."

"I do care about you," Yori's voice strained a bit as she pulled Kim closer. "I care about both of you. Intensely. I cannot quantify it. I cannot even tell which is more powerful."

"It doesn't have to be a choice," Kim wrapped her fingers into hers. "No matter how weird it sounds, I don't mind what you and Shego have. To be honest…it's increasingly hot to witness and I sound like a giant perv right now, but I'm not ashamed of it. I can't describe why, but I know without doubt I want you two."

Yori looked up to Shego, who sprawled across the headboard and grinned at her, "I never did anything to deserve the two of you, but I'll be damned if I let you go after I got you. I never thought I'd trust anyone again after my parents dumped me off here, but I trust the two of you implicitly. I'm yours as long as you want me."

They watched as Yori smiled joyously and then tears barely escaped her eyes. She didn't sob or weep openly. She merely ducked her head and sniffled a few times, attempting to reign in her emotions as Kim squeezed her hand and Sheridan slipped down from the headboard and cuddled in behind Yori. They gave her the silence she needed and merely showed her they were there, for her, with her, for as long as she needed them. It had touched her without question.

"I don't want this to end," she whispered just loud enough to be heard.

"Don't think about that," Kim nuzzled her cheek with her own. "Think about now. What do you want now?"

There was a long silence again and this time Kim could see the girl bite her lip adamantly. There was something big forming in her head and she was afraid of voicing it. They offered their silent encouragement for several moments as she collected herself and finally, yearningly offered her answer.

"I want the both of you."

"You've already got us," Shego hugged her waist harder, but remained gentle.

"No," she inhaled deeply. "I want you."

Kim's grip loosened a tad as her brain screeched to a halt and she shared a glance with Shego. The green girl didn't look as surprised as Kim felt, but it had indeed caught her off guard. Yori acted during their silence by turning in Sheridan's arms until she faced the girl, straddling her lap while somehow remaining upright. Shego's face turned a darker green, but she didn't retreat. Instead, she secured her as she had earlier that night with hands on her backside.

"I want Kim intensely," Yori breathed onto her. "But you…you keep teasing me and I cannot stand that anymore."

Shego laughed nervously, "Be careful. I might just take you up on that."

"I would like that," she kissed her before she could respond.

Sheridan didn't retreat and the girl in her lap only pressed the issue further until she rode her down onto the bed. Kim was only vaguely aware of the pounding in her ears as her face felt as though it would burn off any moment. Shock and something else held her in place even as they deepened their make out session and one of Shego's hands traveled up the girl's torso as she explored her intimately. It wasn't until the green girl had wandered underneath Yori's shirt and the other girl let out a soft moan that Kim flashed back to reality and stood.

"I'll, uh, leave you two to that, then."

"You don't have to," Yori said quickly.

She blazed with embarrassment, but it stemmed more from the bizarreness of the situation than anything else. Yes, Shego's hand was still groping Yori, but even the taller girl had halted to give her a worried look. This was most certainly a unique situation, as no one could seem to find the voice to point out that Yori had just invited her to stay and…watch?

The thought and mental image most definitely didn't repulse her. She wasn't sure what to think of that, except maybe she felt like a gigantic pervert. Then again, what was wrong with that? This wasn't some meaningless romp for the night; she loved these two. Loved them enough to fight harder than she'd ever fought before. That meant more than the embarrassment.

"I will not pretend to be an expert on this," Yori spoke gently, "but I do not mind…in fact…I want you to stay. I want you to be a part of this."

Kim looked to Shego and the girl appeared just as nervous as the other two, "It's up to you, Cupcake. Is this okay with you?"

The redhead took a moment to collect herself and take in the bigger picture. She thought she would have felt more possessive seeing someone else mounting Sheridan. She thought back to the times during the games that others voiced their desire to have her and that twinge of jealousy sprouted from nowhere. That wasn't there now, however, but was something entirely different. At its simplest explanation, Kim merely wished to see where this would lead.

Yori waited patiently, despite the growing desire centered below, until the redhead had decided. She felt so hot, so uncontrollably turned on at the moment and had ever since Shego had touched her earlier. She'd needed this for some time, had been afraid of it for many reasons, but now…after her talk with her parents…she closed her eyes to shut out that terrible memory. She couldn't ruin this moment now. After everything, considering what was to come, she knew she wanted this. She needed only the other girl's approval to proceed.

Kim finally nodded after an eternity. Yori exhaled with relief, though it might have been another moan as Sheridan's fingers played around her breast. She made sure to keep the hand there as she dipped back down to pin the girl to the thankfully large bed and claim her without hesitation. She recalled their first kiss on that very same spot and found it poetic they'd continue where they'd left off.

She moved quickly from her lips to her neck, tasting her past what she'd been allowed previously, knowing that this time the green teen was completely into her as opposed to still hung on Kim. She knew she'd never equal the redhead in Sheridan's heart, but she didn't have to. She didn't intend on replacing her in that place. There was enough room for both of them, just as there had been and always would be a place in herself for Kim and Sheridan.

The girl beneath her breathed heavily as she was slowly overtaken by her libido. Yori knew out of the three Sheridan's passions were strongest and she counted on drawing them out. Yori wouldn't be taking her tonight; she fully intended on giving herself to the girl willingly. Like a predator striking, the green girl suddenly sat up quickly and threw both hands under Yori's shirt. She yelped in surprise and felt her deft hands maneuver to her bra strap and quickly snap it open.

Shirt and bra together came off rapidly, mussing her hair around her eyes and covering the mother of all shades of bright red. She felt the cooler air of the room on her torso, now exposed for both to see. At least, until Sheridan's mouth claimed one of her exposed breasts. A new sensation rocked her physically as butterflies erupted in her stomach and she felt the girl's tongue greedily explore her. Her head swam and her eyes wandered the room in hopes she could stem this new wave of pleasure.

She made eye contact with Kim and saw the girl was beyond shocked by what she was seeing, but nothing negative showed on her face. At least not that Yori could tell through the lightheaded haze surrounding her. She was brought back to reality by Sheridan traveling up her torso to her neck, laying on deep, sucking kisses as she moved and finally stopped at her ear.

"Anybody ever tell you you're perfect?" she whispered deeply.

"You would be the first," she stammered, overcome by just how into this she was.

"Good thing my opinion matters most," she chuckled darkly, voluptuously, before lifting the girl and twisting to drop her onto the bed.

There was something fierce in Sheridan's eyes as she bent over the girl, something primal that was just shy of dangerous. It would frighten most, but Yori knew she meant her no harm. As soon as her eyes settled on her skirt, however, she knew she'd reached the point of no return. She shook a bit, but was grateful to see a slight bit of hesitation on the green girl's feral features. There was just enough in there to resist ravaging her out of some deep need to avoid harming her.

Yori nodded her approval and lay back, incapable of watching whatever may come next. Past the nervousness, she felt exhilarated. She did indeed want this and she honestly looked forward to experiencing it. This was the part of herself she'd leave with them, these two wonderful, irreplaceable people. She breathed evenly as she felt Sheridan remove her skirt and underwear as one, felt her face burn from mortified glee, and then felt the girl's breath on her thighs.

The first sensation rocked her despite knowing it was coming; nothing could prepare her for that. She gripped the bed sheets and allowed a little, throaty moan to escape as the other girl began slowly, but eventually increased in tasting her. She slapped her hand against the covers, overwhelmed suddenly by the throbbing caused by the activity and begged Sheridan to slow her efforts. She did so, though begrudgingly from the sound of it.

She tried to stifle the squeaky sounds of absolute pleasure that escaped her, but nothing short of biting her lip could cease them. Warmth found her hand and she looked over to see Kim had taken hers in her own, offering some kind of consolation from the intense pleasure. She threw a beaming, grateful smile, but Kim's introduction into the scenario only served to turn her on more. She thought she would be ashamed of how this felt, but there was no shame here. She was beyond happy.

After moments of settling into Sheridan's motions, she found a comfortable rhythm to her movements and began to enjoy the feeling. Then, she felt one of the girl's fingers enter her and she'd regressed back to square one. She was forced to pull Kim closer, forcing her to sit behind her and hold both hands with overt force as the combination of tongue and finger proved immediately too much. She mumbled incoherently as the redhead soothed her vocally, though her ears pounded too deeply to hear much.

It bordered on painful and glorious and she had just begun to find that comforting rhythm again when her entire bottom half began to tingle. Despite the fact Yori had never been brought to orgasm before, by herself or anyone else, she knew precisely what this feeling was and what it entailed. She couldn't think straight enough to say or do anything else beyond moan increasingly in little, high pitched spurts until her muscles contracted and warmth filled her inside and out. She lost control and ended up sandwiching Sheridan's head in between her thighs as her body pulled into itself painfully. She might have flown off the bed had it not been for Kim's strength keeping her in place.

It seemed to last forever as her mind blanked and she rode out this wonderful ecstasy, all the while feeling Kim's hand run through her hair. After three rather violent spasms, she finally found the ability to breathe and relax her muscles, eventually freeing the green girl from the death grip between her legs. Sheridan crawled up her torso and Yori saw pride on the girl's face, which made her unconsciously smile weakly in return.

"You are the best," she whispered hoarsely.

"Clearly," the taller girl found some great joy in doing that. "And might I add: you're delicious."

Some weird combination of mortification and utter bliss took her and she had to cover her face as she giggled like a school girl. She liked hearing that, despite the vulgarity behind it. Sheridan could make anything sound wonderful. Kim asked her if she was okay and she could only mouth some minor confirmation. She was busy appreciating the two and this moment they'd just shared that she'd never forget until her dying day.

"Sweet and heat," she whispered.

"Huh?" Sheridan cocked an eyebrow as she continued to hover over her.

"You and Kim," she breathed evenly, deeply. "I have thought about what you both mean to me and I come back with only two words that a friend of mine once used to describe types of boys; one to describe your fiery passion and the other for Kim's unending compassion. You two are my sweet and my heat."

"That's a drawn out way to say you love us."

She smiled lovingly, "The word love does not begin to suffice. Are you alright, Kim? I squeezed a bit too much?"

"You were perfectly fine," the redhead kissed her forehead.

"Are you…okay with what just occurred?"

Kim glanced away, "Honestly? It was incredibly hot and I was a bit jealous."

"Of whom?"

"Both," she reddened.

She felt butterflies at the words, "Forgive me, but I do not believe I can do much in my current state."

"You can watch," Sheridan stretched further over her and kissed Kim.

Their kissed turned passionate as the green girl led her away to the opposite end of the bed and turned Kim to face away from her body. They continued to kiss as Sheridan hugged her from behind and began to pull off her shirt. Yori was compelled to watch as the girl was exposed and she cared nothing save for staying attached to the other girl's lips. She barely flinched when Sheridan removed her bottoms as well and tossed them to the side.

"How come you're doing all the work," Kim breathed.

"Cause I want to show my girls a good time," she nipped at her shoulders. "Unless you have objections."

Kim responded by grabbing her hand and pulling it directly to her center, her desires more than crystal clear. Yori was in awe of just how in control the green teen could be. While Kim was the leader in their friendship, Sheridan was the boss in the bedroom. That thought and the sight of Kim undressed and Sheridan's fingers going slowly inside her brought forth a new torrent of wetness. Still, she couldn't move anything below her waist, thus she was forced to only spectate.

She had no dilemma in witnessing Sheridan's prowess as she used hands and mouth to stimulate Kim in every way possible and the girl allowed free reign. Her cries of pleasure were like music, methodical and intense, though she never reached Yori's pitch. She also took much longer to succumb to Sheridan's touch, which prompted the taller girl to slide her legs underneath Kim's own and spread them along with hers.

She gave intense, but gentle concentration on that most sensitive area and even Kim couldn't fight her climax for much longer. Her stifled scream of ecstasy and shaking form was a sight unlike any other. Sheridan held her longingly as she whispered affections and waited for the rather powerful orgasm to subside, accentuated by the alarming amount of moisture escaping Kim and staining the bed sheets.

Once again, Yori thought she would be ashamed of watching such a private moment occur just before her, yet this moment was meant for her to see. They weren't just taking turns with one another. They were as a whole, as irremovable pieces in a grand puzzle, and she'd never felt as complete as when she was with these two. This had not been a mistake. This had been precisely what she'd needed to be reminded what mattered.

She'd feared the three would be as ships passing in the night, only allowed a small window of time with one another that would prove altogether fleeting. Instead, they'd found something wondrous and indescribable in how natural it felt; as easy as breathing and just as precious. No matter how disappointingly short it would prove to be, it could never be taken from them now.

Kim fell onto the bed, all smiles, "Oh my god, that'll never get old."

Sheridan mounted her from behind and nibbled her ear, "Who's the best?"

"You are," she purred and nibbled her back.

An idea trickled into Yori's head as she extended her arms to Sheridan, "Do not leave me out."

Sheridan grinned and crawled over to her, allowing her to grab hold as she lay crossways over her and kissed her just as greedily as she had Kim. Yori took that opportunity only she and Kim were allowed and began to explore the girl's torso, immediately finding her impressive chest and freeing her breasts from that pesky bra. As soon as she'd pulled all her attention away, she spoke past her lips to Kim.

"Her turn."

The green girl's eyes widened as she was suddenly grasped and flipped over by the redhead. Sheridan made a noise of surprise and tried to sit up, but Yori still held her chest and kneaded her softly as Kim removed her shorts.

"You little sneaks," she spoke past the desire as she gripped the sheets and gave them every indication she approved.

Kim went to task as Yori sidled in next to her and continued fondling her and intermittently kissing those beautiful lips. The girl didn't know which lover to focus on and settled for random whispers of affection and lust as she bucked with Kim's movements. She was far more in tune with her body than the other two and thus helped Kim to reach her peak in little time. Sheridan growled through her teeth as pleasure seized her and she gripped Yori in a tight embrace.

Her breathing steadied shockingly soon as the climax had barely taken the fight from her and she breathed a husky, "Don't stop."

Kim continued unabashedly as Sheridan still held her for support. The look of glassed over ecstasy in her eyes made Yori even wetter and this was apparently an invitation as she felt Kim's fingers enter her unexpectedly. She wasn't certain she could handle more, but her body screamed to allow it as she held the green teen back and prepared for what was to come. Somehow, Kim was able to focus on both of them effectively and soon Yori was back to moaning incessantly.

She would be embarrassed if she could think clearly enough, though neither girl seemed to mind as they encompassed one another and allowed the redhead to continue fervently. Yori somehow lasted long enough for Sheridan to encourage her to come with her. She lacked that control or even most basic thought at that point, but she somehow managed to achieve her peak seconds before the other girl. She screamed into the sheets as Sheridan laughed joyously. She felt the redhead flop in between them and they instinctively attached to her with weary, but contended, sighs.

After a moment of much needed rest and quiet contemplation over what had just occurred, Shego knew exactly where they should be at that time. What was better after a lengthy bout of lovemaking than a nice, relaxing bath? Not that she had much experience with the matter, but she'd heard good things. It was simply one more thing she wanted to share with the two and she coaxed them off her bed and downstairs, all three still very much naked.

It was lovely having the whole house to themselves and being free of the worry of an adult bursting in to ruin the mood. Not that anyone would have much of a chance ruining the significant cloud of giddiness she currently rode. Even Shego had thought the three of them making love together would have devolved into discomfort or outright clumsiness, but they'd shown admirable understanding and adaptability to one another.

She watched as the two's mouths gaped wide at the sight of the Jacuzzi tub in her parents' bathroom. It was enormous, far too big for just the two people who currently used it, but then again she assumed it was meant for more than simple bathing; something that needed a bit more room than normal tubs would allow and OH GOD DON'T THINK ABOUT THAT RIGHT BEFORE YOU GET IN THE DAMN THING!

She shook her head and distracted herself from those disturbing thoughts by watching the two girls chatter excitedly and begin to draw the bath. They were beautiful and not just from a physical standpoint. She'd heard the concept of glowing after sex, but she never knew it could be so literal until she'd been fortunate enough to behold these two perfect creatures so vulnerable, yet so relaxed around one another.

She still felt the tingling sensations from holding them, exploring them like only she was allowed and it made her want more. Those two had no idea how difficult it had been to hold back her physical desires for them for this long, which was why she'd offered to do all the work earlier. She needed to get off, true, but she also wanted to showcase in excruciating detail just how into them she would always be. She hadn't done a bad job if she could say so herself.

"Uh oh," Kim giggled at her. "I know that look."

"She is salivating," Yori chuckled along.

"Is that you twos' way of asking for seconds?" she purred and stalked them hungrily towards the tub.

They each retreated into the steaming water with laughter and the only thing stopping Shego from leaping in after them bodily was the strong desire to avoid waterlogging her parents' bathroom. She decided to be coy and dip in slowly, giving little, sexy gyrations as she entered. Kim shook her head lovingly, but Yori was nearly captivated by the show. That girl was way too undersexed for her own good. Sheridan would have to take care of that as time passed.

Forgetting those perverted thoughts, she closed her eyes and allowed herself to sink into one of the seats formed into the edge of the tub. It was heavenly on her muscles as the water slowly relaxed her to the point of contented sighs of happiness. The others enjoyed it as well and they allowed silence to take over as each quietly replayed the night and came to their own conclusion about what they thought.

The green girl had loved it. Not just the activity, but the people she shared it with made it unforgettably special. She wondered if all sex was this awesome or perhaps it was made exponentially more spectacular by the people you did it with. Who cared, honestly? Overthinking it took the magic from it.

"You'd think it would be awkward," Kim breathed happily, "considering the lack of pillow talk, but…that was even better than I'd imagined it would be."

"So, you've thought extensively about sex with both of us?" Sheridan grinned.

"Not extensively," she would have blushed had it not been for the heat already warming her. "But I did kinda, sorta, have a dream about sex with you two some time ago."

"Wait, exactly how long have you been into both of us?"

"It was when I wasn't sure. Back when I believed I could only choose one of you. It's amazing how such a difficult decision didn't even have to be made in the end."

"We were lucky," Yori said. "Our relationship would be frowned upon by many, but we are privileged enough to be surrounded by mostly people who understand. Many are not so fortunate."

"Even if everyone disagreed," Shego spoke roughly, determinedly, "I still would have loved the shit out of both of you."

"Then we are fortunate indeed," she smiled at the girl and Shego's heart soared.

"So, we're in this together, all the way?" Kim was becoming giddy. "I hate putting a timestamp on it, but we have until the school year ends and then summer break. It seems like a long time, but…it feels too close for my tastes."

"It's plenty of time," Sheridan suppressed the need to speak over that subject; they'd find out in time.

She saw Yori's head duck suddenly as a pitiful little inhalation escaped her. The sight of tears welling in her eyes stabbed into Sheridan violently and she was over to the girl instantly with Kim not far behind.

"What's wrong?" they almost asked in unison.

"I am sorry," she wiped them away and seemed to control herself. "I did not wish to ruin this night."

"Talk," Kim almost begged as they sandwiched her with worry.

She took a few short breaths before continuing, "That night I left your house upset, I went home and ended up Skyping my parents. I was not content to hide what I felt while the two of you openly fought for it. You are both brave; I decided that I could be brave too."

Shego's stomach dropped, because she knew where this was going. Despite the dread, she tried to hope and believe past her sorrow that this story would have a happy ending.

"I told them everything. About how I felt for the two of you in great detail. They were…unhappy with what I revealed. I most likely angered them with my insistence over my feelings. They told me it was a phase, that it would soon pass, and I did not respond well to that. I declared my honest love for the both of you. They tried to understand, but this is too far outside what they know. In the end…they told me I would be coming home at the end of the school year."

Sheridan saw Kim's face contort with sorrow and anger, but she hid it from Yori by wrapping her arms around the girl tightly. The smaller girl didn't make much reaction as her mind was far elsewhere at the time. Shego couldn't offer her that same comfort, as she warred internally with speaking her mind then and there. She wanted to call them old-fashioned, ignorant, backwards thinking artifacts…but she had too much respect for Yori to vocalize her hatred.

"I'm sorry," Kim whispered and gripped her as though she were leaving then and there.

"Do not be. I made my choice and that led to this night. I will never regret that."

"It's too soon."

"But it is still time," she rested her head against Kim's. "And we shall make the absolute most of it."

"You're goddamn right we will," Shego settled in on her opposite side, forcing the bile from her throat. "I swear it."

"I do not doubt it," Yori gripped her head with one hand while pulling Kim closer with the other.

Shego carried that weight with her for a few days, but she never allowed it to affect their relationship. Yori had sacrificed much to prove how she felt and Shego and Kim swore she would never be expected to do so again. Beyond that, the green girl now had to cope with not only the knowledge she would be losing one of the people she loved much sooner than she'd anticipated, but was also forced to watch as Kim unsuccessfully hid her sorrow from them in an attempt to avoid bringing everyone else down.

It wasn't an all-day thing, thank Christ for that, but she'd still catch the redhead holding on to Yori just a bit longer than usual or sitting in her room pretending to do schoolwork, but zoned out with the most pitiful grimace on her pretty face. It tore at her heart and she was at a loss for precisely what she could do to make it better. Not only that, but she was now suffering a surge of guilt over the secret she'd kept from Kim all this time. It seemed like such a surprise until this whole debacle began.

As class ended, she scooped her phone from the bin at the teacher's desk and saw she had a text. Bonnie's face grinned confidently next to her contact and a short message read off to the side: Meet in quad after school. Tara is taking Kim home. Come alone. Shego scoffed at how cryptic that came off and wondered what the brunette could want. They were still friendly, but they hadn't been friends since their lunchroom spat.

Oh well. She had no reason to turn her down and promised via text she would be there. It gave her something else to contemplate until school ended and she wished her girls a farewell until later. Considering their lack of questioning, she assumed Bon had already offered an excuse for her staying. She hurried for the grassy knoll outside, allowing the curiosity to overpower the helplessness of recent developments.

Bonnie waited near the vending machines with, of all people, Ron and Camille. The debutante looked characteristically unhappy to see her, but Ron as always made a show of being friendly. She bumped his knuckles as she approached and stared down Cammy for a moment before addressing Bonnie.

"So, what's with the Deep Throat style meeting?" she asked. "And why did we have to leave out Cupcake and Yori?"

The wily brunette crossed her arms with a surprisingly stern look, though it wasn't directed towards Sheridan, "We'll be more than enough. I've been feeling around the school's grapevine for a few weeks now and I've finally sniffed out the rat that threatened Kim and exposed that photo."

Shego's heart skipped a beat, but she kept her trap shut out of a deep need to hear everything.

"With ample help," Camille corrected.

Bonnie scowled at her, "Yes, with ample help from Camille. Nobody has the sources she can get, so I used her connections to shake a few branches."

"The hell do you care about helping us?" the green teen asked her.

Camille waved her hand dismissively, "I most certainly didn't do it for either of you."

Ron grinned, "Cammy insisted on repaying me for helping her with classwork, so I asked her to do a bit of digging…well, that and Wade's been tearing his hair out ever since he failed in tracking who the culprit was."

"And you may also wish to see this person stomped for what they did to Kim," Shego postulated.

He gave a little shrug, unwilling to admit just how bugged he was by the prospect. Sheridan pulled him in close and laid her head against his, foregoing the usual buddy-buddy stuff for something a bit more intimate. He didn't have to do any of this, but it meant the world he did. She hoped the gesture conveyed just how grateful she felt. Considering the gentle way he hugged back, she had no doubt he understood.

Bonnie continued, "Camille's people verified through teachers the only other person seen exiting the school that time of day, through the back exit no less, and Wade double-checked the student's online activity. There's no doubt who it is. I hope you remember what you promised me."

Shego nodded intently, "That when we found the son of a bitch that did this, we'd make them pay."

She only nodded in response.

"I remember," she then turned to Camille. "I'm not thanking you for the info, but I will give you some advice: you better appreciate Ron and treat him like he deserves to be treated, or else I give you a solid fucking pounding."

She rolled her eyes, but refrained from a smartass comment.

"And thank Wade for us too, Ron. Come on, Bonnie. Let's go remind someone why I was kicked out of my own home city."

The door to the school paper's workroom slammed shut hard, echoing throughout the normal sized space and scaring the bejeezus out of its one occupant. Bonnie leaned against the door and crossed her arms, staring daggers into the lone boy bent over his work. He jumped and swung his body to face the entrance as his face sunk and eyes widened. The green girl removed her jacket menacingly to showcase just how much more solidly she was built than him.

"Byron fucking Cahill!" she roared with every tooth bared.

"Oh no," he moaned weakly and threw out warding hands to halt her sudden, violent progression towards him. "Wait, wait, please, no!"

He backed away clumsily, actually fell over and crab-walked away until he smacked the wall as she bore down on him with every muscle clenched and prepared for holy hell. His fear made him incapable of retreat, so she reached him easily, grabbed the collar of his shirt, effortlessly lifted him to his feet and slammed him against the wall. One fist reared back and held solidly, like the hammer on a revolver, prepared to slam home and end his pathetic life.

He began to lightly weep, "Oh God, please no! She swore! She swore she wouldn't tell anybody!"

"Oh, she didn't," she growled deep and hateful. "There are plenty of other people far more willing to sell you out, which is what you do to a rat, cocksucker like you. You ball-less, spineless little shit stain! Was it worth it?! Was your little crusade worth the absolute wreckage you are going to deservedly get from me?!"

"I'm sorry!"

"You aren't sorry! You're a coward! What's worse, you failed at your sabotage, so that makes you a coward and a failure! How does it feel to know Kim was better than you and your stupid, fucking mother in every conceivable way?! Answer me!"

"My mom gave me the third degree! I got what I deserved!"

She grit her teeth and slammed him against the wall again, "You got nothing! What you deserve is for me to beat the ever-loving piss out of you and crucify you on the goalposts of the god damn football field! You hurt the people I love! You deserve to be made an example of to anyone else stupid enough to think you can damage the people I care about and get away with it!"

He shut his eyes and clenched his teeth as her arm cocked back just enough to achieve the hardest swing possible. He shook uncontrollably and only remained upright by her grip alone. Tears streamed down his face as he whimpered pathetically. He now felt the helplessness and fear. Shego's arm slowly dropped to her side.

"But you won't be getting that today."

His eyes flew open as he expelled the breath he held in one violent burst. He shook like a man gripped with madness, confusion and terror warring in his beady orbs. She retained that painful grip on his collar, but the fight left her in pieces. Every thought of his demise was replaced by them; those two faces that loved her, that understood her and forgave her those things she thought made her undesirable.

"You don't die today, because you aren't worth the effort. In a few months, I'm going to lose a person I love, far sooner than I wanted, and I'm not spending what precious little time I have left with her testifying in court over what I did to you. She…they are my priority now and I won't waste it on you."

He took many, panting moments to understand what he'd escaped and he had the nerve to look relieved, "Thank you."

Faster than humanly possible, she shoved a forearm into his throat and lifted him just to point his toes barely grazed the floor. The fear returned to him in spades, but she held her actions out of nothing else but seeing those faces past the red. She had to be better for them, or else she didn't deserve them. To undo the peaceful resolution Kim had fought so hard for…that would make her worse than even Byron.

"Don't thank me, asshole, because I'm holding you responsible for everything from now on. Until the school year ends, until we lose Yori, those two are going to be the happiest people alive. If I hear anything from your little bitch friends on the internet, if anything even so much as makes it to a rumor around this school concerning the three of us, then I will cripple you, go to your home and throw your fat, bitch mother through a fucking window. You of all people know I will!"

He nodded quickly, desperately. With disgust, she removed her forearm and let him fall gasping to the floor. She didn't need to do any more. She wanted to, but she knew better now. She wasn't the same person anymore. She had too much else, too much more important, to risk it over a vendetta. She was happy now, happier than ever in her life, and even she wasn't foolish enough to throw it away.

"We're done here," she turned and spoke to Bonnie.

The brunette didn't look satisfied, but she relented and opened the door, giving Byron one last scowl before exiting. Shego turned back just long enough to meet his eyes, point her fingers at her own and then slowly point a single, dominant finger towards him. The implication was clear and threatening. Then, with a deep, calming sigh, she spun and left that part for hopefully the last time and made for her car and for those faces still lingering amongst the dissolving, red haze.

Byron never spoke a word about what transpired that day and his mother never appeared at the school again outside of business related activities. Even then, neither Cahill seemed intent on antagonizing or even interacting with the three girls. It was all for the better. Somehow, in the next few months, Kim, Sheridan and Yori found peace enough to enjoy their time together. Some would say fate or a higher power had deemed them worthy of respite after everything. Those who knew better understood what had occurred to ensure their peace.

They'd earned these last few moments through sheer will and it only strengthened what had been proven already to be unbreakable. They were allowed to enjoy boring, ordinary life with one another without interruptions and they made the absolute best from it. From Yori and Shego helping Kim to finally pass her driver's exam and Kim's parents surprising her with a respectably adequate little four door vehicle, to merely celebrating Kim's birthday in early April and Yori's in early June, they'd managed to make something so abnormal seem utterly ordinary.

Throughout their remaining time together, they relied on each other. And for those rare moments when the three stumbled, their friends and family never hesitated to assist. Some still disagreed with their relationship to that day, but that was the strange thing about loved ones. Even if they disliked what you did, it somehow never translated into disliking you. That was all they'd needed; they never demanded understanding or agreement. They merely wished to be allowed to be happy. Somehow, the world saw fit to oblige.

Even Junior prom was such a non-event. They'd gone as a trio with full works: corsages, dresses, all their friends and even Driver's limo for extra style. No one batted an eye, but that was because they had something else momentous to catch their attention. Amidst the throng of students collected during the slow dance, the entire room erupted in cheers when Wade and Zita ceased their rhythmic movements to share a long, soft kiss. They'd never seen Ron happier and that's including how he'd somehow managed to convince Camille to be his date. Even the debutante grinned happily at the display.

As for the trio, in a desperate bid to remain attached, they danced as one for the final song. Kim held Yori close, hand in hand, while Shego held Kim from behind and somehow comfortably found a place to rest her head where it touched both girls evenly. There was no need to speak or strategize; they'd found their places through nothing but an unspoken desire to simply be there. There was no romantic banter, no perfect words or actions to define the night; there was simply just them, surrounded by a world and a people that allowed it without dilemma.

The airport terminal was busy, boisterous and overbearing for anyone who took the time to notice it. Kim barely did. She shut the world out through shockingly little effort and focused her entire being on the darker haired girl before her. Yori stood at the entrance to her flight's boarding tunnel, allowing the rest of the passengers to pass through before her. They'd all three been there for hours, sitting and waiting and talking and deciding on what to say in those final moments.

Nothing poetic came to mind, but a simple goodbye didn't suffice. Kim feared speaking, because she'd felt a stinging pain in her stomach all morning and knew it was the beginning of a torrent of emotions that may escape should she speak from her heart. Yet, that pain was nothing compared to the prospect of the girl leaving without hearing something precious from her girls.

Like a hero, Sheridan spoke first, "Nothing we say could possibly not be cliché."

"Cliché is not so bad," Yori smiled. "As long as it has been earned."

"You have no clue how much I'm gonna miss you, taisetsuna."

Yori giggled at her new nickname, "Believe me, I am very well aware."

Shego stepped forward and embraced her, giving a long kiss farewell. Kim saw the taller girl's hands clench in a single, last bid to keep her from leaving, but she relented at the last moment. Nothing could keep her here and delaying it would only make it worse.

"I love you, onna-bugeisha," the shorter girl spoke into her mouth.

"Until next time," Shego's voice cracked only a bit as she pulled an envelope from her back pocket and handed to Yori. "Don't open it until you get home, okay?"

She nodded and slipped the paper into her suitcase. Sheridan stepped back and allowed Kim her moment, but the redhead didn't immediately make any moves. She balled her fists once and relaxed them while choking down whatever embarrassing outburst might escape when she finally spoke. Patient Yori never hurried her despite the sight of the last few people entering onto the plane.

"I spent literally all day yesterday," the redhead began, "trying to find something or make something to give you, but nothing sufficed. Nothing could ever show you what I feel for you…"

Her frustration was showing, so the other girl reached out, grasped her hands softly and pulled her in. Kim accepted the embrace wholeheartedly and smelled her hair, her natural scent, and bathed in the things she wouldn't have after today. She wanted to grip her hard enough that she would magically stay, but that wasn't a possibility. It hurt as she felt every moment count down to that inevitability and it was only that inner strength that held her solid. The last thing Yori needed to see was her weeping as she left.

"You have done more than enough," Yori whispered and stroked her hair. "Never once have I questioned what you feel for me. You of all people made it easiest to understand. I am the one who can never adequately thank you for that."

Kim inhaled and exhaled deeply, nearly losing it in the process, "I'm going to be by my computer all day. When you get home, Skype me. Skype me whenever you want; I don't care what time it is here. Please…be happy. I'll never stop thinking about you. I love you so much."

"I love you," she sniffled, but remained steady enough to kiss Kim just as long and sincerely as Shego.

Kim took it for all she was allowed. She ran her fingers through her hair, over her skin, and mentally memorized her shape and what she felt when she touched her. She committed it to the piece of her mind she knew it would be safest. Then, it was over and Yori picked up her bag with hesitance. Kim saw the sadness past the smile, but they held firm for each other.

With disciplined slowness, Yori bowed deeply, "Thank you. For everything. Neither time nor distance shall diminish my memories of you both. Sayonara."

Kim could only nod, but Shego tipped her forehead with her finger and tried to play cool even now.

"Ready?" Hirotaka finally walked up and she nodded silently as he turned to Kim and Shego. "Thank you for making my friend happy. Thank you for accepting us into your lives."

"Take care of her," Kim almost begged.

"Take care of each other," Yori responded.

They all nodded and a myriad of goodbyes called from behind them. Kim turned to see Bonnie, Brick, Tara, Josh, Ron, Camille, Wade, Zita, Felix and Hope waving and offering farewells. Their ever expanding group of friends was there until the end and that touched them all. They'd done something miraculously right to have earned that.

Kim watched as Yori and Hiro walked into the boarding tunnel, moving with them to stand by the expansive windows that overlooked the runways beyond. She replayed their memories in her head as she pressed against the glass: introducing themselves in class, Kim helping Yori with cheerleading, their first kiss in her room, their kiss at the ice rink, their costumes during the games, and every moment she'd been fortunate to have with the girl.

Through it all, she saw that smile. The girl's eternal, well-intentioned, magical smile that no one could hate and everyone loved. That smile made from those lips that she'd been allowed to experience from every conceivable angle. That smile that beamed just a bit brighter whenever she'd given it to herself or Sheridan. That smile that held her sorrow at bay as she watched the plane lift off and carry the girl she loved further and further away until she disappeared into the sky.

It took her longer than she'd anticipated to register that loss. Her mind seemed certain she was going to turn around and see Yori still there, smiling and happy along with her and Shego. She expected her to be in the group of friends as they wished them farewell. Besides the delirium, she was just starting to feel an ache building inside her, as if she was missing something internally. The ache stole her attention, as she didn't remember walking hand in hand with Shego to the other girl's car, didn't feel her squeeze her hand and reassure her sweetly.

It wasn't until they were halfway home that Kim's mind finally forced her to confront the hard fact that Yori wasn't in the car with them. She wouldn't be waiting at her home or at school. She was already out of the state and gaining distance by the second. She wouldn't be able to hold or kiss her again. The ache swelled unexpectedly and Kim hugged herself with a stuttering exhalation.

"Pull over," she whispered hoarsely.

Sheridan obeyed quickly, but didn't have enough time to quiz Kim on what was the matter before the redhead climbed over into the seat with her, curled into her lap, and began to sob deeply. She'd wanted to be strong and not just for Yori's sake. Shego was doing so well keeping it together and Kim thought she could too, but the redhead felt that ache intensifying and she wanted it gone. This seemed like the best way to exorcise it.

The green girl held her tight and muttered something into her hair she didn't really hear; all she focused on was the voice and the fact that its owner was still there. She focused on that fact, but that ache was a constant reminder that they were both missing something precious. She didn't know how long she'd whined there on the side of the road, but it was just long enough to calm to the point she realized Shego was slightly shaking and Kim's head was becoming lightly damp.

Kim awoke to the sound of someone calling her name. It took her a long moment to recognize her bedroom around her and allow her thoughts to catch up to earlier when Sheridan had carried her inside and put her to bed. She'd thought the girl had joined her in slumber, but she was nowhere to be seen. She thought about hiding in that bed out of fear of the ache, but she was immediately robbed of that option.

"Kim," her door opened and the raven haired girl peeked inside. "You okay?"

"Yeah," she wiped the sleep from her eyes. "Yeah, I'm so sorry. How long was I out?"

She smirked, "Only about three hours and you don't have to be sorry. You needed it bad….listen, I need you to come outside. Please."

Her tone was slightly off, forcing Kim to wake up completely. The hesitant way she spoke unsettled her stomach, reminding her of that distant ache from before. Sheridan disappeared and that scared the redhead enough for her to give chase swiftly. She feared she'd open that door and the girl would be gone too, just another memory and ache. But no, she had at least the summer with her. She held on to that fact like a life preserver.

The green girl turned the corner and headed outside with Kim hot on her heels. The crisp afternoon barely registered on her socked feet as she dashed outside and had almost made it to Shego when her feet and heart stopped. At their drive was a familiar limousine, with that same familiar driver…but contained two more occupants she hadn't expected. Her mouth dried shortly thereafter.

Mr. and Mrs. Go were waving hello to their daughter as they chatted with Driver over something she couldn't hear. But she knew what it was. She knew with increasing, unavoidable dread and she felt that ache returning with renewed intensity. The look of sheepish embarrassment Sheridan gave all but confirmed she was about to deliver terrible news.

"I didn't expect them to be here this soon," the green girl spoke.

Kim moved with unnatural speed and nearly toppled Shego with an embrace, squeezing her neck and latching to her shirt as if she were an anchor that would forcibly hold her there. Her panicky mind did its best to formulate words to counteract what she knew was coming.

"No, no, no, no, you said we had the summer, you can't leave me, please, it's too soon after Yori, please!"

Shego begged her to calm, but she was beyond reach at that point. She browsed her cluttered mind at lightning speed to formulate some plot to keep her here because she was not leaving. She wouldn't allow it as long as she possessed the strength. She knew it was immature, she knew she had no right, but she was beyond logical thinking. Her heart, her body, her soul couldn't take losing Shego this soon.

The tears were coming. The ache was beginning to burn. Her grip somehow tightened to painful levels, but she ignored it out of sheer determination. Her world was splitting and she shut her eyes to wish it away before it swallowed her whole.

"I'm not leaving."

Sheridan's voice echoed past the void and Kim was suddenly steady back on the ground. Her world remained and she opened her eyes with surprised shock, staring into those gorgeous emeralds. The green girl smiled warmly at her and her heart dared to hope the words hadn't just been a figment of her crumbling psyche. The girl must have seen the silent hope on her face as she continued to explain.

"My family is here for the summer," and sure enough she saw the twins leaping from the limo, followed by a much less excited Melvin.

"…why?" Kim dared to speak.

"It was part of the deal we made. They're visiting me for the summer…because I'm staying here for senior year."

The redhead's knees shook and nearly gave out underneath her. A feeling wholly unknown to her encompassed her and it was warm and safe and pleasant beyond any ability she possessed to describe it. It almost single handedly wiped away the ache in its entirety and she didn't think that was possible. She didn't dare relinquish her hold, though she did return her head to the girl's shoulder.

"Please don't be kidding," she almost begged.

"I'm not, Cupcake," Shego chuckled. "But, I did promise them I would do my best to get accepted into Go University after I graduate. I was kinda hoping…I could convince you to join me."

Yes. Yes, that seemed completely fair and Kim was already planning on grabbing brochures and pamphlets and finding out which would be the easiest way to earn a scholarship for the school, because she was not spending any time away from this lovely creature. The gravity of the situation dawned on her in pieces. Sheridan had chosen to stay away from her home, from her family and friends, and remain in this city…all for her. She'd never felt that kind of love before and it was radiant.

"I'll go with you anywhere," Kim whispered and she felt Shego's grip tighten.

Sheridan's family approached with smiles and kind greetings, but the girls didn't immediately answer them. Kim had no clue what was going on in the green girl's head, but hers was a flurry of memories reminiscent of the ones from the airport. Visions of her and Sheridan meeting face to face in the lunchroom, nearly coming to a scuffle then and there, of cleaning the girl's wounds in the bathroom at home, of every instance that the two met one another halfway and forged a friendship of unbreakable strength.

Kim thought of all the moments she could have quit and gave up on the girl and never had made it to this moment. It hurt to think about, but she denied that phantom pain because she'd avoided it. She'd fought and listened and understood and now she had this beautiful, special person for so much longer. Eternity wasn't enough, but she comprehended how lucky she currently was to have gotten this much at all. She didn't dare take it for granted.

The happiness still pulsed with an ache of loss and Yori never left her mind through all of it. She'd keep her promise and be by her computer until she called and they'd remain in one another's lives as best as possible. She loved Yori; she loved Shego. Whether one was more intense than the other was irrelevant. It was real and that was all that mattered.

But, for right now, she basked in the prize of her courage and tenacity, this beautiful reward she'd never knew she wanted or needed, that she'd fought so hard to reach. Through all odds imaginable, she'd reached her. Through her strength alone she'd earned her. The world could have her back when she was done. As for right now, she wasn't ever letting go.

The End…?

Of course not!

Yori stepped into her home and took a moment to reacclimatize to the senses she'd almost forgotten after all this time. America had been a complete shift in everything: sounds, smells, scenery; it would take a day to switch back to a mode she'd held for almost the entirety of her life. Everything was how she'd left it and where she needed it. All the home was missing was…two things it would never have.

She opened her eyes and stepped inside, carrying her suitcase towards the stairs.

"Yori-chan," her mother called after her and she turned only out of respect. "Please do not leave us so soon. We wish to hear of your trip."

The teen stared them down with a neutral expression, "I would love to, but you would not care to hear the best parts."

Her father scowled in her direction, but the older woman's face changed to hurt as she bowed her head and Yori immediately felt guilty. Their early reclamation of her had been cruel, but it did not negate the previous sixteen years of being good to great parents. The young girl breathed evenly and expunged her anger, set down her suitcase, and walked back to her parents.

"Let us sit and talk, then."

And talk they did as the girl regaled them about the people and places and foods and everything else she'd experienced. The room's awkward air lightened as the adults couldn't contain their smirks over the myriad of fantastical tales she wove for them, all with a positively glowing expression. She purposefully left out any details of her relationships and settled on spinning Kim and Sheridan as simply wonderful friends, despite the fact her parents knew better. It would be practice for anytime another adult quizzed her.

It was an hour before she'd finished and excused herself to rest off the jetlag, bowing deeply to her parents as she returned to seize her suitcase.

"Yori," her father spoke in his usual rough tone, "what we did, we did because we thought it best for you. We know you are unhappy with us, but never question the fact that we love you dearly."

"I never have and never will," she spoke honestly. "Though, perhaps one day you will understand that I am just as capable of choosing my own happiness."

"When that day comes," her mother nodded, "we hope we taught you well enough to choose wisely."

"I already did," she turned her back and ascended the narrow stairway to her room.

The house wasn't large, but she'd somehow managed to have the entire second floor to herself. She used this space well as she shut every door separating her room from her parents, fell onto the bed and spent the next several moments weeping out the tears she'd held in since leaving Middleton. Her brain protected itself by reminding her of all the old adages similar to the "better to have loved and lost" diatribe, but it barely managed to console her.

She wasn't alone here. She had great parents, loyal friends and so many kind neighbors. She had a life here and she would continue to live it as though she'd never left. Yet, the thought of all the people she'd left behind in America burned in her gut with loss. The thought of the two girls she'd been robbed of was a void that would never be filled. She was a teenager; she never pretended what she had with Kim and Sheridan was the purest form of anything, but it was real and now it was a faint echo that struggled to reach across thousands of miles of land and ocean.

She remembered the promise of Skype calls and that barely salved the wound their absence caused, but she would never complain about the chance to see and hear the two. If it was all she ever was allowed ever again, she'd still consider herself fortunate beyond words. She used that little positivity to clean her face and steel her nerves, unwilling to face the two with tear filled eyes. As she stood, she stared at her suitcase and suddenly remembered the envelope Sheridan had given her.

She blushed as she thought of the beautiful girl and all the things they'd done since their first bout of lovemaking and wondered how she could live without her touch…both their touches. She'd find a way, as she couldn't imagine allowing someone to explore her the way they had. Perhaps she would change her mind in time. For now, she simply removed the envelope and emptied its contents onto the bed.

Pamphlets? And informational brochures of some sort of campus. The words Go University was emblazoned across the hoity-toity paperwork complete with information about scholarships and class scheduling. She raised a curious eyebrow as she picked up a handwritten note amidst the pile. She recognized it as Sheridan's sloppy scribbles:

Hope you made it home safely. We already miss you. I know you're all brilliant and crap, so I assumed colleges are knocking at your door, but maybe I can offer my own idea. I wouldn't worry too much about earning their favor through grades, though. Not many people have a personal recommendation from the mayor of Go City waiting for them. Until we meet again. We love you.

Fresh tears invaded her face, but she didn't dare wipe these away. She allowed them and the little half laughs/ half weeps that accompanied them. Along with the burst of joy in her entire body, she felt the corners of her mouth raise slightly. It wasn't the warm smile she was known for; it was a new one made up of indescribable and unending hope.

The End
