It's so close! Volume 4! Unless I get this out late then IT'S HERE! Now As I said before we have a good deal of time before we get to that, I've been praying for a time skip in order to set shit up and I got it so I'm gonna make use of it. Seriously if it had been like two days after the end of volume three I would have been FUCKED. Enjoy.
3 Days after Beacon Tragedy
"You're sure this is the place?" Fidelis asked looking at the small house surrounded by a small wooden fence.
"Yeah, that's the address I got from Belladonna before she bailed. If your asking me about the way the place looks than your an idiot in more ways than I can count." Rideat replied over the scroll.
"Damn no need to be snippy I was just asking." Fidelis retorted back. "By the way, where are you staying at? Now that Beacons destroyed and over run your homeless, need any money?" Fidelis rarely acted like a good older sibling but that never meant he cared, when he felt the need he'd help out however he could.
Rideat sighed. "I'm fine, I'm staying with Velvet and her family at their house about twenty miles outside of Vale. The grimm have been acting up around here after what went down the other night and I just got off my shift assisting the village patrol. So sorry if I'm a bit grumpy but I've been up for the past twenty seven hours."
The dingo faunus chuckled. "Whatever, go cuddle up to your bunny girl and get some sleep. Also I asked Neo to marry me and she said yes, your my best man so get fitted for a suit, I'll send you an invitation with the info later bye!" He blasted through the last part incredibly fast.
"Wait wh-" Fidelis ended the call and stuck the scroll back into his pocket.
Fidelis looked down at himself, he was wearing loose fitting black cargo pants and and an oversized black hoodie with the hood pulled up over his head. His left arm was still wrapped up tightly in thick bandages that itched like all hell. As it stood he could barely walk on his own, he was beaten to hell after the fight with Cinder, but with a bunch of stimulants and some aura therapy along side his massive aura reserves, and he was able to get back onto his feet. Despite this incredible rate of recovery he was in absolutely no position to fight anything or anyone, and wouldn't for at least another week of rest. "I really hope they don't shoot on sight."
Fidelis made his way slowly down the path up to the front door of the home, limping visibly the entire way, and raised his good arm to knock on the door. After knocking three times there was a brief silence before the door opened to reveal a large blonde man. "Hello?"
Fidelis pulled down his hood. "Hi there, I need to speak with Kain. He is staying here right?" Fidelis asked leaning against the door frame looking tired.
The man looked him over. "Yeah he's here, who are you?"
Fidelis held out his right hand. "Call me Fidelis."
"What do you want?" An angry voice came from within the house as Kain walked to the door with a glare on his face.
Fidelis chuckled. "It's good to see you to kid."
"Who is this?" The older man asked the tiger faunus.
Kain crossed his arms. "He's the infamous 'White Mask' of the White Fang." A second voice spoke as a familiar face joined the conversation.
Fidelis smiled at Qrow. "Formerly of act-" He was cut off abruptly as a powerful punch slammed into his face sending him flying into the front yard of the house where he landed hard. "Holy hell thats bad." Fidelis groaned from his place on the ground, blood now pouring from his nose. "My god that hurts." His entire body ached horribly as it was but now it was pure agony.
"YOU BASTARDS TOOK MY LITTLE GIRLS ARM!" The blonde man roared as he stomped towards the unmoving faunus.
"Actually that was my frie-" Again he was cut off by a foot ramming in to his side hard enough to send him several feet into the air before landing nearly twenty feet away, this time Fidelis began coughing up blood in globs. "Thats a rib, or three." He wheezed from the ground before coughs began wracking his body again. Turning his head to the angry father who was again marching towards him with unrestrained fury on his face.
Once he was standing over the down criminal he raised his fist with a visible coating of aura on it. "DAD STOP!" A shout came from the house as a red blur appeared between Fidelis and the enraged father.
"Ruby move." The man seethed looking at the man on the ground behind his daughter, he was having visible trouble breathing by the way his chest rose and fell.
"No, you've done enough." Ruby remained firm where she stood.
"She's right Tai, anymore and you might kill him." Qrow added before taking a swig from his flask.
Ruby turned to the injured faunus on the ground. "Are you okay?" She asked as he wheezed and struggled for air.
Fidelis let out a very pained chuckle. "I'll live." He then began coughing once more sending blood from his mouth to the girls shirt. "Hopefully." With all his might Fidelis managed to roll over onto his stomach and with some help from Ruby got to his knees. "Now at the risk of being hit again, Kain, I came to ask if you'd join me. I'm putting a team together, and I was hoping you'd join up." Kain looked down at the pathetic looking faunus on his knees.
"Not interested, now get out of here." The boy growled and the criminal.
Fidelis nodded, he'd already half expected the answer. "Fine, if you change your mind you know my number." Reaching into his pocket Fidelis pulled out his scroll and dialed a number, at this point Taiyang and Qrow had both gone in doors, likely to keep the blonde from kill Fidelis out of rage. "Jin, come get me. You were right, it didn't go well."
A few minutes later an engine could be heard in the distance and soon a bullhead landed on the clearing in front of the house. Ruby gave Kain a look and made him help her lift Fidelis to his feet and into the aircraft. Fidelis looked to the red haired girl and smiled. "Thanks for the help Red, we're even now." Reaching into his pocket Fidelis pulled out a small piece of paper. "This is for your sister, it's the number to an old friend. He made Rideat's prosthetic, if she's interested tell him I told you about him."
Ruby smiled and nodded before stepping away as the side door closed and the airship took off.
Two weeks later
"So who is this guy again?" Roman asked from his seat in the VTOL.
Fidelis was looking over his fan smiling, reaching to the ground he grabbed his mask before raising it to his face and securing it. "A scary son of a bitch named Skoll, he left the Fang about a week after Belladonna. At that point we were to busy with the bitches plans to spare the necessary resources to hunt him down and either bring him back or terminate him. I half expected Adam to drop it on me so I did some digging and hired others to dig even further. Once shit started hitting the fan, what with the Mt. Glenn shit, I ended up just sending the info off to my buddy Kyzal. Haven't heard from the guy since." Fidelis's tone dropped slightly towards the end.
It had easy to ignore it recently with everything going on, but now that he had time to think about it, it hurt. The chances his old pal was dead because he sent him the info on Skoll were high. Kyzal was good, but so was Skoll. If he was honest he wasn't sure who was stronger between the two and after the lack of communication he'd feared the worst. "Regardless, if we can't get Skoll to join us then we kill him." He would get justice for Kyzal, whether it be by avenging his death or by having Skoll repent through helping him, he would have justice.
Roman nodded his head slightly. "For some reason that reminds me, you and Neo are getting hitched huh?" He grinned while pulling out a cigar and lighting it up. "Take care of her Fido or I'll kill you." He said surprising Fidelis who looked to him, there were several seconds of silence before Roman started laughing loudly. "I'm just fuckin with you, I know you'll treat her right."
Fidelis chuckled. "Knowing Neo, if I ever did mistreat her, she'd likely slit my throat with a spoon or something." They both laughed at that thought. "By the way, Neo was a bit embarrassed to ask you so she wanted me to ask for her. Sense she has no family and therefore no father or brothers, she wanted to know if you'd walk her down the isle."
Roman had been taking a drag from his cigar when Fidelis had said this and instantly let out a series of loud smoke filled coughs before pounding his chest with his hand and turning to Fidelis looking shocked. "Me?! She wants ME to give her away?!"
"Well you are the only other guy she's close to besides me, and if you hadn't brought her in on all this we'd have never met so... yeah, she wants you." Roman leaned back in his seat and let out a sigh.
"Fine, I'll get fitted for a suit when we get back."
"Thanks man, this means a lot to her." Fidelis replied before standing and moving towards the cockpit. "Yo Jude!" He banged on the door.
The door opened up to reveal a familiar face, the very same man that saved his, Clef's, and team RWBYs collective asses after the fiasco on the ship a while back. "What's up?" He asked the faunus who was now his new boss. Several days earlier he was contact by Fidelis asking if he'd be willing to be the new pilot for his group, he was offered a very appealing amount of money and was provided with a brand new, state of the art, stealth/assault style bullhead, that Fidelis had 'found just lying around'.
Apparently the controls of the airship were far more advance than a standard airships and therefore needed a far more experienced pilot to properly operate it, or so Jin told him. "How much longer until arrival?"
Jude looked down at the controls. "Well we're about three hundred miles out, so I'd say another hour, give or take a few minutes."
"Sweet, thanks Redgrave."
One hour later
"You know if I'm honest, this place is really nice." Fidelis said to Roman as the two looked out the window of the bullhead down at the large resort that surrounded a small lake in the middle of the vast deserts of Vacuo.
Roman shrugged. "Eh, I'm not a huge fan of the heat."
Fidelis nodded before hitting the panel on the door which opened up the side of the ship. "Lets go." He grabbed Roman's arm and jumped from the ship ignoring the curses coming from the cigar smoking thief, just before they hit the ground Fidelis used his semblance to slow their fall.
"I hate it when you do that!" Roman shouted as he dusted of his coat.
"I've never done it with you before."
"I still hate it!"
"Come on, we've got a psychic to catch!" Fidelis shouted before taking off towards the resort.
Roman lit up another cigar having lost his last one during the fall. "Wait, a what?"
After several minutes of walking through the sand and jumping over the electrified fence that surrounded the place the two found the resort nearly deserted. "Where the hell is everybody?" Fidelis asked sounding curious.
Roman stopped for a few seconds. "Hold up, you hear that?"
Fidelis stopped as well and listened closer with his canine ears. "It sounds like cheering." The two decided to follow the sound of cheers which only grew louder as they approached the source. Once the finally entered what looked like a later indoor swimming pool area the two saw a massive crowd of at least six hundred gathered around a single point.
Walking over Fidelis grabbed a random person from the crowd, they instantly became terrified when they saw his mask, after his little speech during the battle of Vale he'd become infamous across the globe making it nearly impossible for him to go unnoticed while wearing his mask. "What the hell is going on here?" He asked the man who was now sweating.
"Uh, these two guys are playing pingpong. They've had the same volley going for three hours and everyone is betting on who will win." He explained quickly.
Fidelis raised an eyebrow under his mask. "What do they look like?"
"Their both faunus, one has dog ears kinda like yours, the others got a large pair on wings."
"No shit? Well I better go say hello." Fidelis turned to Roman. "I'll be right back, I found our guys." Then with a powerful jump enhanced by his semblance Fidelis sent himself soaring over the crowd and down onto the pingpong table at the center where two familiar people were still playing. Moments later he came crashing down onto the table before raising his fan and swatting the flying ball straight into Kyzal's surprised face. "I win."
"DAMMIT FIDE! Do you have any idea how long we had that going!" Kyzal screeched before throwing his worn looking paddle onto the ground before stomping on it. "THREE HOURS! AND HE WAS TIRING OUT!"
"I could have kept going for a while longer actually, probably another six." Skoll added. "So Fidelis, what are you doing here?"
Fidelis threw his fan back onto his back. "Picking up you two, get your shit cuz your coming with me. I'll explain on the way."
Kyzal grumbled before giving him the finger. "Fine, but I want a damn rematch later!"
Fidelis looked to Skoll. "You to Mr. Psychic."
Skoll let out a sigh. "I've told you a million times, I'm not a psychic. I'll go pack my stuff, not like you'll let me say no."
"How could you know that if you weren't psychic?!" Fidelis shouted pointing at the dog faunus.
"I really hate you."
Okay time to tell who belongs to who. Kyzal is my good friend Xera's, Jude belongs to Mojo, and Skoll is of course Keepers. I've mentioned their full names before in the last chapter so go check out their stuff if you haven't already. Leave me a review and tell me what you think. LATER.
