Chapter 36

I won't allow it

xxx [[[]]] xxx

"Come here…" Ana softly said, and revealed her beautiful chest.

Yes, he wanted her too… God, he wanted her so badly…

As Christian watched Ana's bare upper body, his heart contracted in his chest. She was so beautiful...

With a shaky hand, he tentatively traced the swell of her breasts... first the left and then the right one. Ana shuddered and whimpered softly at his touch, the noise she made driving Christian almost mad. As he placed his hand flat on her rosy peak, Christian felt himself starting to turn.

'No... Please don't' was what whirled inside his head, while trying with all his might to keep 'the monster' at bay.

"Christian, please..." Ana whined, because the anticipation was killing her at that moment." I want you to touch me everywhere..."

His whole body shook, and he took deep breaths, while doing his best not to turn into 'the monster'.

Ana's eyes flew open and noticed how he was hesitating." What is it, Christian?" she questioned.

He shook his head and replied." I can't... I cannot" he stuttered." Ana, sweetie... I don't think I can make love to you without turning into that other side of me... I'm so sorry."

At hearing that, Ana swallowed the lump that had formed in her throat." I don't care... I love all of you and I love 'him' too, Christian." She said in such a convincing way." If you'll turn, I don't mind... I want to make love to you no matter what..."

He shook his head at that." But, Ana. I do not want to hurt you... I won't be able to control 'him'."

"Yes you will..." Ana pointed out." You will, Christian Grey."

After saying that, Ana got up from the bed and stood right in front of Christian. Without fear or hesitation, she took off of her bathrobe and attempted to make eye contact with him. Christian's eyes had fluttered shut, so she whispered." Look me in the eyes.."

Seconds passed after Ana had said those words, but she didn't get impatient. Instead, she waited for him to get his extremely heightened senses under control.

His eyes snapped open, and he gripped her gently on her arm." I couldn't... I won't be able to bear it, if I.. If I would hurt you, Ana..." He pointed out, his head shaking, the tone of his voice full of emotion.

Ana smiled at him and grabbed his hand. He wanted to pull it back, but her grip was tight." Shhh... it's alright. I trust you." she whispered, and placed his open palm on her bare stomach.

Christian shook his head." Before... before, I'm able to control 'the monster'." he countered." But after Leila and Adon held me captive for all those days in that cage, my heightened senses have been on overdrive constantly. I can't control... I'm unable to control them the way I used to."

As he said those words, Ana noticed his eyes glowing dangerously, they seem to be on fire!

And yet she smiled and gripped his hand tighter and moved it so it ended up lower onto her body...

Christian sucked in a deep breath at the feel of Ana's warm skin, and felt his heart implode inside his chest, while beginning to feel a very sharp pain in all his fingers and around the gums in his mouth. His head felt like it was about to explode… No.. he was slowly turning.

Ana watched Christian intently, as he fought to control 'the monster'. He was already changing, his teeth becoming fangs and his nails turning into claws. Christian's eyes were fiery, and yet… Ana wasn't afraid of him.

Instead, she cupped his face lovingly and said." You're mine and I'm yours... I want you, Christian. I want all of you... human or not."

As those words reached his ears, Christian felt calmness take over his whole being. Ana noticed how the fangs slowly disappeared and the claws changed back into his normal nails.

"Come here, Ana…" he demanded. At that, she sat on his lap and straddled him, while a naughty smile played at her lips.

Christian's eyes still glowed yellow, but she didn't mind. She thought that it was one hell of a turn-on. She never had a lover before, who literally could turn into a wild beast in bed…

Ana ground down on him, making Christian's eyes flutter shut automatically. He swore that he saw stars behind his eyelids, beautiful wonderful stars. He growled softly, as he felt Ana grab his right hand and placed it on her moist core.

Oh, God… she was so ready for him.

"Christian, please…"

That's all she had to say for him to react. He swiftly grabbed Ana and gently placed her on the large, white bed.

Christian felt the sharp pain around his fingers once more, so he jumped out the bed.

Seeing Ana in all her naked glory was too much for him." I can't fight 'the monster' within me, Ana…" he whispered, while clenching his hands into fists.

Christian loved her and wanted to make love to Ana, but he just was unable to control the 'other side of him'─ his dark side…

While locking eyes with Ana, he gave her a helpless look." I will hurt you… I can't, sorry…" Christian apologized, while swallowing the huge lump in his throat.

Ana didn't reply… instead, she calmly slipped into her bathrobe and closed the gap between them.

Before replying, she kissed him softly on the lips." It will take some time… I can understand that, Christian. You have been verbally tortured for days by that woman… your ex-wife…" Ana remarked, saying the last two words with such hatred and disgust." And Adon… he put you in a damn cage and betrayed you after all you had done for him over the years…"

Ana watched, as his eyes fluttered shut and he inhaled deeply.

Christian shook his head at the memory, the gnawing pain in his heart fucking unbearable.

It had been torture for him, when Leila spoke about their son, Demetrios, when they held him captive in that small cage.

"Christian? Talk to me please?" she asked, and then gently led him towards the bed." Take a seat?"

As he took a seat, Ana grabbed some clothes from the closet and hastily wore them. She then took a seat next to him." I'm here for you, Christian... you can tell me anything..."

First he gave Ana a defeated look... He never spoke of his son to anyone except Calinico, because losing Demetrios was the worst thing Christian had ever experienced in his life." I uhmm..." he began, but was unable to continue.

No, it was still difficult for him to open up about his baby boy. While tears pooled in his eyes, he avoided Ana's gaze.

"Please, look at me Christian." Ana begged, afraid that he was going to put up those invisible walls around him again.

He heard the desperation in her voice and locked eyes with Ana.

"When I uhmm... uhmm, losing my precious baby boy was the worst..." Christian began, his voice breaking." Then I met you and the pain in my heart softened... it never went away, cause he's my baby... my little precious one. However, you made my life better, Ana... But then Adon and Leila had me captured and they shoved me in that tiny cage..."

Ana couldn't help it. It was too much, hearing all that he said. The tears that pooled in her eyes rolled down, while she grabbed both his hands.

"I felt so lost, Ana... I felt so lost without you." he continued." But do you know what made it all worse?!"

Ana shook her head at that.

"That bitch! She began talking about my precious little boy..." Christian was seething, and he furiously got up from the bed." How dare she! How dare she spoke about him! She's the reason my precious baby boy was dead! It's all her fault!"

Ana noticed how his eyes were glowing once more and saw his claws appearing again...

At that, she calmly and carefully grabbed both his hands." Listen to me... I'm so sorry about your son, Christian... I wish I can take away your pain... I really wish that I could. Please know that I'm here for you, OK?" Ana told him and looked at him lovingly.

It still hurt so freaking much, talking about his poor Demetrios. However, Ana made it less painful for him. Christian desperately needed the comfort and needed to feel loved by her. He wanted to show Ana how much he loved and worshiped her, but just the reminder of that cage and how Leila spoke about Demetrios made it almost impossible for him to be able to do it.

"I'm so sorry, Ana... that I cannot control 'him' anymore... I uhmm... I..." he started.

But Ana shook her head and cupped his face." I understand, my love. I understand why you are unable to control 'the monster'… I have all the time in the world. I'm here for you and I promise that I'll never leave your side, OK. I will wait and be patient with you and together we will work on it so you can heal… I'll be right here with you, the moment you're able to control 'him' again. Just like you used to... I love you, Christian Grey, with all my heart." she declared, and lovingly traced his cheek with a finger.

A happy tear rolled down Christian's cheek, when his brain had processed all that Ana had said to him. Gosh, he was so lucky to have her in his life. A woman who he could talk to, one who understood him and who loved him unconditionally.

What did he ever do to deserve her─ his precious whirlwind?

He did not know, honestly. At that, Christian grabbed Ana's face gently and crashed his lips onto hers, kissing her so passionately, wanting to take her breath away...

'She's ours' was what Christian AND 'the monster' thought at the same time.

In the meantime, Calinico was an angry mess. He was shouting at Alexia to tell him where the second key was.

(They needed both keys so Christian and Ana can break the family curse)

At this point, Parthenios' personnel had gathered around the two.

"Where the hell is the second key?!" he kept repeating, while Alexia sobbed and shook her head.

"I don't know, Calinico!" she replied, while attempting to pull herself from Calinico's tight grip." I knew that Adon kept it in his safe… so when I heard that he was hiding from the authorities and that The Phoenixes wanted his head 'on a spike', I decided to do damage control."

"You're lying! Tell me the truth!" he shouted angrily, while throwing daggers at Alexia.

"I'm not lying!" she sobbed.

At this point Calinico had lost his patience completely." You will show me where it is, now!"

He was seething and was already dragging Alexia from the dining room to the front door, when Christian, Taylor and Ana stormed down the stairs.

"Calinico!"

Christian's voice thundered through the large living room, making the butler stop in his tracks immediately.

"What in the hell is going on here?!" Christian asked, when he reached the duo.

Alexia was a crying mess, and when Christian looked in Calinico's eyes, he saw a storm raging behind them.

He's known his butler his whole life, but never before has Christian seen Calinico this way…

The older man's hands were shaking from pure rage, while tears pooled in his eyes.

"Taylor, please let Miss Alexia take a seat on the couch." Christian ordered.

Ana walked over to Calinico and Christian, still shocked by the older man's outburst.

She looked at him worriedly and asked." Calinico, what happened?"

The older man then took the heavy key from his pocket and handed it over to Christian." It's one of the keys, sir… Miss Alexia gave it to me. She claims that it was in Adon Papadakis' safe..." he pointed out, his hand still shaking." She claims that she and Adon are... cousins."

As those words reached Christian's ears, he automatically took a seat in a chair. The impact of those words hitting him like a ton of bricks.

Ana let out a deep breath, and scrunched her brows together." Key? What key?" she asked, confused.

Her eyes darted from Calinico to Alexia and then towards Christian. From the looks of it, all three of them knew about the key.

"Christian?" she asked, and looked at him questioningly.

He cleared his throat, while avoiding Ana's gaze." This key… it's important to my family… it's an heirl..." Christian began, but was cut off by Alexia.

"You and Mr. Grey can use the key to break the Niarxos family curse!" she shouted with a very thick Greek accent.

Ana's mouth fell open at hearing that." Is that true, Christian?" she asked, and grabbed his hand." We can break the curse with it, so you and your cousins and nephew can be free?"

She was smiling at Christian, but he was not. He sighed deeply and then shook his head.

Ana didn't understand why he wasn't happy about the news." What is it?" she asked, while squeezing his hand tightly.

"Calinico and I will explain it to you, sweetie." Christian said." But let's take a seat first, OK? Let's go to the library, where we can talk in private."

He then looked over to his bodyguard and said." "Taylor, bring Miss Alexia to the kitchen. Let one of the other maids bring her some tissue and a glass of water."

"Off course, sir." Taylor replied." I will watch her and make sure she doesn't flee."

Christian nodded at his bodyguard and then led Ana towards the library.

After taking a sip from her drink, one that Calinico had poured for her, Ana waited for Christian to explain it all to her.

Seconds passed, but to her it seemed more like hours.

"What happened? Why were you so angry at the young woman, Calinico?" Ana asked impatiently, when Christian nor his butler spoke up.

Calinico then told Ana what had occurred between him and Alexia in the dining room.

"All this time… she's been working for Parthenios, Mr. Christian's cousin, so she can spy on him." The butler uttered, his voice filled with disbelieve." I don't understand why that family still has that grudge even after all this time."

Ana let out a deep breath, and attempted to understand it all." So, who is she exactly? Why does she and her family hold a grudge against Christian and his family?"

At that, Christian grabbed a chair and sat in front of Ana." Do you remember the first time you and I met?"

Ana nodded and smiled at that." Off course I do… how can I forget?"

He shook his head and laughed." Well, remember that evening I told you a story about Agathe, right?"

"Yes, I r'member." Ana replied.

"I told you about my ancestor Soterios… that he saved Agathe's life. He saved her from drowning and that's when he fell in love with her. R' member?"

Ana nodded." I do. You told me that before Soterios met Agathe, he was already promised to a girl named Henimia. She loved him and was heartbroken, when she found out that Soterios was going to marry someone else." She said, while tears pooled in her eyes." Henimia was inconsolable and she uhmm… she then uhmm… she committed suicide."

Christian nodded and took a swig from his glass. At seeing that, Calinico also poured a strong drink for himself and silently sipped on it.

Ana gasped softly, and placed a hand over her mouth, as it dawned on her who Alexia was." Oh God! She's… she's Henimia's descendant?"

Christian nodded at that." Yes."

Ana's eyes widened, when she realized something else." Adon?!" she questioned, while gripping Christian's hand so tightly it hurt him.

He nodded." Yes, Henimia is Adon's ancestor also."

"Oh my God!" Ana uttered, while her eyes darted to Calinico and then back towards Christian." That's the reason he burned down your villa and… and then he… he…"

"Yes, that's why he held me captive in that hellhole." Christian finished the sentence for her." He and his family still holds a grudge."

"Wow…" Ana remarked and finished her drink by taking a big swig from it." Unbelievable... it all feels so unreal…"

She shook her head, unable to wrap her head around all of what she had discovered within the last 10 minutes or so.

Christian also told her that they need both keys to undo the curse that was cast upon his family. They already had one; they just had to search for the other key.

"It's doable, right?" Ana asked all of a sudden.

At that, Christian and Calinico both looked at her questioningly.

"What do you mean, sweetie?" Christian asked.

Ana had a particular 'look' on her face. It was a face of someone who had decided to challenge fate.

She got up from her seat and pulled Christian up with her. With her eyes locked onto his, she simply said." It was tragic that Henimia took her own life, I know. But her mom, she's the reason why your family is cursed, Christian. But you know what? You and I, we're stronger than before… and we're together now. You and me, Christian. We can break this family curse of yours."

As those words reached his ears, Christian nodded and agreed." Yes, my sweet Ana… with you by my side, I believe we can break this wretched curse!"

At that, she leaped up at Christian and he twirled her around happily.

Calinico felt a tug at his heart, while observing the two most important and precious people in his life.

"Sir, I think it's best that you give me they... let me put it in a safe place for you..." Calinico suggested.

Without question, Christian handed the key over to his butler." Keep it safe, OK?"

The older man nodded and then he quietly walked out the library to give the two lovebirds some privacy.

The moment he reached his bedroom, Calinico made a phone call.

He dialed the number of the young man who found Christian, when he was held captive in that cage.

Calinico called Andreas, the temporary leader of The Phoenixes.

"Mr. Andreas, sir. I need to speak with you in private." Christian's butler insisted." It's a very urgent matter."

"What's it about?" Andreas questioned.

"It's about the second key, Mr. Andreas."

After saying those words, it was silent for a few moments on Andreas' end." Calinico, does this mean that right now the first key is in your possession?!"

"Yes it is."

At that, Andreas immediately ordered." I'll send a chopper to pick you up right away, so you can explain how you acquired the key… then, I will report to Parthenios and together we will come up with a plan to find the second key."

"What about Mr. Christian, Sir?"

"What about him?! He should stay right where he is right now." Andreas pointed out." The plan hasn't changed… Adon Papadakis is still at large. And the safest place for Mr. Grey to be is in Parthenios' mansion."

"But Mr. Christian knows about the key! He'll want to…" Calinico began, but Andreas cut him off.

"Taylor is also there to protect him, plus I've ordered a small army to guard the mansion and its surroundings to ensure his safety and Miss Ana's."

"But…" the older man tried once more, but Andreas had made up his mind about it.

"The chopper will be at the mansion within 15 minutes or so. Be ready, Calinico." Andreas ordered." And bring the key with you."

"But Mr. Andreas, sir…" Calinico began, but the young leader had already hung up the phone.

"Crap!" Calinico cursed under his breath." How the hell am I supposed to convince Mr. Christian to stay behind?! Just...great!"

After hanging up the phone, Andreas immediately got up from his desk and walked out his office. At the moment he was in The Phoenixes' headquarters.

"Finally! After all this time, the Niarxos' family curse will be broken!" he said aloud, his voice filled with hope.

After approximately ten minutes, Andreas reached his destination. He had taken the elevator down and then he walked through the tunnels of the building. Parthenios' grandfather─ who was the cousin of Christian's grandmother, had kept the book safely in a secret vault after Galya had given it to him many years ago.

"You will need this, cause Agathe will return... That was predicted a long time ago..." she had told him that day.

Andreas impatiently unlocked the vault and pulled out the heavy book from it.

He then laid the book on the table and took a seat. With trembling fingers, he opened said book and halted at page 241.

Andreas eagerly read what was written, but at one point he froze.

His face had turned pale, while he tried his best to stay calm. Andreas swallowed hard and almost threw the book against the wall from disbelief...

He was outraged! Was this the only way she could help him break the curse?!

Andreas shook his head and wasn't able to control his emotions any longer. He grabbed the book, and called Galya immediately.

"Is this a joke?!" he shouted in her ear, when she answered the call." Parthenios never told me that this was the way to liberate him and his cousins! Does Mr. Grey know about this?! Does he know what she must do?!"

"No..." she admitted." Mr. Christian nor Calinico know exactly what has to be done... I purposely revised their version of the book. The one that I had... the one I gave to Parthenios' grandfather, is the original one."

Andreas wanted to scream at hearing that. He couldn't believe what he just discovered.

"But why?! Why would you do that, Galya?" he shouted into the phone, making two 'Phoenixes' look up at him questioningly.

"What is it, boss? Something wrong?" one of them asked, while giving his leader a concerned look.

Andreas shook his head, and replied." No, everything's fine… carry on."

And then he apologized to the older woman." Excuse me, Galya… that was Stavros…"

The older man didn't look convinced, and watched as their leader strode away in the direction of the elevator.

Inside the elevator, Andreas repeated." Why would you revise the book... the one that Mr. Grey has?"

"I did that, because his grandmother had asked me to." She replied.

"But, why? I don't understand?!" he questioned, totally stunned by Galya's revelation.

Moments passed, but the older woman refused to answer his question.

Andreas shook his head, while entering the top of the building. He took a seat on the comfortable couch, all of a sudden feeling so powerless.

Galya kept quiet, so Andreas continued." Is there no other way to break the curse?" he asked, his voice trembling heavily.

He tried staying calm, but was unable to. The old woman annoyed him immensely, giving him only bad news.

At hearing that, Galya cleared her throat." Well, I uhmm… it is very compli…" she started, but didn't finish her sentence making him lose his patience with her.

"Galya!" Andreas demanded.

"No, that's the only way... they both have to do it, in order to break the Niarxos' family curse." The old woman replied, making Andreas' skin crawl.

He was so outraged, and hung up the phone. Since the first day that Andreas had temporarily taken over the role from Parthenios as leader of The Phoenixes, he had been able to lead with a clear head. He was objective and super intelligent, and never let his emotions get in the way of any decision making he had to do.

That's until now...

Andreas was a young man with his heart in the right place. What he had learned just now, was too much for words. He wasn't the kind of man to go around and abuse his power, but he had to do something. He had to protect those two!

Andreas expected Calinico to arrive soon with 'the key'. He promised Christian's butler that he was going to search for the second key, but the young man decided then to do the opposite. He was planning to deliberately sabotage the mission in finding the second key…

While waiting for Calinico, the young leader of The Phoenixes tried not to think about it, but his attempts were in vain. He couldn't unsee those words.

The words that were written on the last paragraph of that page.

'Agathe will return, and she will break the curse'

'Nothing or no one will be able to prevent that, because it is her destiny.'

As he poured himself a drink, Andreas Liakos thought of Ana and Christian." I will not let them sacrifice themselves… No, not on my watch… I will not allow it!"
