Loki arrives the next morning and is welcomed by a vase shattering against the wall beside his head.
"You've recovered quickly."
Elena grabs a plate and throws it across the room at Loki. Loki easily steps out of its path, making it shatter against the wall. Elena glares daggers at Loki, wishing looks could kill.
"You bastard!"
"I have been called worse."
Elena runs a hand through her hair. "You fed off of my power! That's sick, twisted, wrong, you can't do that! Chris told me..."
"It seems you have been misled."
Elena storms across the room and stops a few feet away from Loki. "So says the god of lies! You lied to me! I can't believe you would...actually I can, but that's besides the point. Why the hell did you do that to me?!"
"Your power can be transferred to another being...if he's skilled enough, that is. It took the norn stones, but I was successful."
"Then why not take all of it?!"
"Your power can only be transferred in small portions with only the most powerful of magic."
Elena shakes her head. "So you stole my powers?! I'm not as strong now?!"
Loki chuckles. "Your abilities may not be lessened by any force. I was only able to take what your power will be replenished. What I have taken could easily bring cities to their knees. That is merely an insignificant portion of your abilities. It will only affect you physically. You are only a vessel after all. Therefore any ill affects will only harm you physically, not your abilities. I'm somewhat surprised to find you lucid."
Elena crosses her arms and relaxes slightly. "Even so, it's still messed up." She sighs and turns away from Loki before she begins to walk away. "At least we got it over with. I hate nasty surprises like last night."
"Are you as naïve as to believe once was enough? If I truly wish to seize control of every realm, I will require vast amounts of power."
Elena gets slightly wide eyed. "But you just said..."
"The power I obtain from you will not last long. And thus, the more I use for my own means..."
Elena finishes. "The faster it runs out. Like a battery. Un-freakin-believable, you actually plan to use me as a battery. Do you have any idea what the consequences are?"
Loki asks in an amused tone. "Fearful of your life?"
"No, just yours. This power isn't meant for you. Its too dangerous to go to just anybody, that's why its only temporary for you. If you think you can get away scotch free you're going to be shocked when things hit the fan."
"I care not for your petty threats. I will take my leave, but I shall return once what I have taken is used." Elena hears Loki walk toward the door behind her. Upon reaching the door, he pauses and calls back. "You may wish to reserve your energy if you wish to remain of good health. Like the blood that courses through your veins, this power is a part of you in a similar way."
With that, Loki vanishes.
...
A couple weeks later, Loki returns.
The moment he appears, Elena begins backing herself against the wall by her bed. Loki smirks as he casually approaches her. Elena shakes her head.
"Get the hell away from me. You're going to steal from me again!"
"Nothing that will be missed."
Elena narrows her eyes. "You're the one who said it would make me sick."
"Merely an effect of the power being torn from your body."
"I'm not going along with this again."
Loki stops in front of Chance and tilts his head to the side. "You seem to continue to delude yourself into believing you have any say in the matter."
Elena turns to run, but Loki grabs her arms and turns her to face him. He tightens his grip on her arms and Elena cries out as an all too familiar searing pain races through her body.
...
Elena groggily wakes up in her bed a few hours later. She forces herself to sit before she slips out of bed. However, she stumbles before falling back onto the bed. She rubs her forehead and groans in frustration.
"Son of a..."
After a few moments, Elena is able to stay balanced on her feet.
...
Two weeks later, Loki returns. Rather than running, Elena only stares him down as he approaches her.
"You're going to pay for this, just wait."
Loki grasps both of Elena's arms. "I would be rather disappointed if you didn't seek vengeance."
With that, Loki begins to pull the power from Elena.
...
Elena is walking down the hallway to the library the next day when she feels a weakness in her knees. She stops herself from collapsing by using the nearby wall as leverage. After a few minutes, she steadies herself before resuming walking.
...
Two months later Elena is sitting in her chambers when she hears footsteps pass by her room outside. She pushes herself to stand and, using the wall as balance, leaves her room. She slowly makes her way towards the echoing sounds of footsteps ahead. Eventually she is distracted by voices from inside a room to her right.
She leans in by the door with hopes of catching some of the conversation taking place at the meeting inside. Just when she thinks she can make out the muffled words, Elena feels a hand on her shoulder, making her jump slightly. Elena turns to face the clone standing behind her.
"What do you want?"
Loki's clone smirks. "I believe you were listening to matters that are not of your concern."
"If you're using me to take over the world, I have every right to know what the hell you're up to."
"A fair point."
After a moment of silence, Elena speaks up. "So...what's going on over on earth?"
"I have successfully infiltrated every political power within Midgard."
Elena raises an eyebrow. "EVERY power?"
Loki grins. "It was rather simple. With a new world war underway, I will rule by twenty days time."
