AN: I was going to write chapters with Kate meeting everyone. Then I realized I had no inspiration for that. This story was started years ago and I really just want to finish it. So I'll just give you the order she met everyone in. After Peter was Pietro and Wanda. Then she met Steve, Bucky and Sam. Then she met Pepper, Harley and Tony. Last she met Rhodey, Bruce and Vision.
Within a month Clint and Natasha were back. Kate had already been introduced to everyone and quickly adjusted to life in the tower. Everyone there loved her. It was summer time so Natasha and Clint had decided to put her in Midtown Science with Peter and Harley. They were in the middle of making the arrangements.
A room on the agents' floor, closer to their own room then the twins', had been painted a lighter purple. Target's were painted in black around the ceiling which made it look cute. Everything had been moved there from the apartment but the agents' still kept it.
Harley and Kate were home with Pepper because the rest of the tower's residents had gone on a mission to check out some disturbances in the midatlantic. There were some strange shockwaves and other random signals they had decided needed to be checked out. (Agent's of Shield, end of season 2.)
Pepper had made dinner for them then had been called to an emergency board meeting of SI. She left Harley in charge for a bit and called Peter. The teen was in the beginning of patrol and agreed to come to watch them. It had been a quite night.
The three of them had built a pillow fort and sat there together eating popcorn while watching a movie. Peter had put on something completely appropriate for a 7 and 11 year old. Shrek wasn't something scary was it?
Kate had also been freaking out because of the rainstorm outside. There was a lot of thunder and lightning. Harley however was smiling and counting the time between the flashes and the claps. "1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8!"
Kate shrieked and jumped into Peter's arms as the thunder clapped once again. He picked her up and spoke to her softly. "Kate it's nothing to be scared of. I'd explain the science behind it but I don't think you'd understand. It won't get us in the tower. It's only a loud noise."
"I want Clint and Natasha? When will they be home?"
"Soon. The mission shouldn't take them much longer," Peter replied. Beside him Harley was still counting.
"It's getting closer, 5 seconds this time."
"That's not how it works."
"Really?"
"I don't think so at least," Peter replied still trying to calm the crying seven year old on him.
"Is Kate still crying? It's not even that scary. It's pretty cool."
"Not to a kid her age," Peter scolded Harley. "You need to remember that. I'm older than you so I'm not scared of some of the things you are because I understand them better than you. You're not scared of the things you understand but Kate is younger. She doesn't understand that yet."
"I don't understand that," Harley pouted. "Why can't we do something else? I'm getting bored."
Another thunder clap sounded right next to the tower. Harley rolled his eyes at the young girl in Peter's arms as she squeaked. Peter glared at him.
"Kate? You want to be like Clint and Natasha, right?"
She nodded.
"Well, even when Clint and Natasha are scared they pretend to be brave. They told me that once. Can you pretend to be brave?"
"I guess," she replied.
"Once you can pretend to be brave it will be easier to be brave for real."
"Okay. Can I go down?" she asked.
Peter set her back on the floor next to Harley. They continued the movie though each time the thunder clapped she flinched she put on a fierce face. It was not unlike the one that Natasha wore into battle(or Clint's hilarious resting face.)
"Kate, wanna know why I'm not scared of thunder?" Harley asked her.
"Why? It's loud and scary."
"It is, but Uncle Thor is loud and scary too. He can make thunder, lightning and rain to fight away the bad guys."
"I haven't met him, does he live here?" Kate asked.
"He used to," Peter answered settling back on the floor beside them with more popcorn. "He left for a bit with his girlfriend Jane and their friend Darcy. They're supposed to come back though."
"Do you think we could ask him to stop the thunder?" Kate asked. "Even when I'm pretending to be brave it's still scary."
"Well, we don't really have a way to talk to the people in Asgard. That's where he is now. I'm sure he would try and stop it if he knew it made you scared," Peter said.
"Uncle Thor is really nice. He's funny too. Especially when he's with Hulk," Harley told Kate. "He would do it."
"This storm is really harsh. I wonder how long it'll be on for. I still have to swing home," Peter said.
"You can't sleep here?" Harley asked.
"I guess Aunt May might let. I do wonder if that's what's delaying the others though."
"I want them to come home!" Kate whined.
"They will," Peter assured.
"Now!" she complained.
"I'm tired of this," Harley said standing up. He cupped his hands around his mouth. "Uncle Thor! Mind stopping the thunder? I think we've had enough."
The thunder stopped mid clap. Peter looked at Harley strangely and Harley stared back. "I really didn't think that would work."
"Didn't think what would work?" asked a female voice.
"Asking Uncle Thor to stop the... Darcy!" Harley cried. He ran across the room where the petite brunette stood. They gave each other a hug as Peter turned the light on.
"You're back?" he asked.
"We are," replied Jane coming in the balcony door as well with Thor behind her.
"Aunt Jane! Uncle Thor!" Harley greeted them both with hugs.
"Welcome back," Peter said.
"Glad to be back," agreed Darcy. "I like Asgard but I missed earth things. Y'know like Wifi, Coffee and modern stuff."
"You heard me ask for the rain to stop?" Harley asked Thor.
"I did. Where are the rest of the Avengers?" he replied.
"Pepper too," Jane observed.
"They're gone. Pepper to an emergency meeting and the others to the midatlantic because of a strange reading on our sattelites. I was called in from patrol to babysit these two," Peter replied.
"Two?" Darcy asked.
Kate had been standing behind Peter scared fo the sudden appearance of the two women and Thor. Peter looked behind him, sighed and picked her up. "Two. This is Kate Bishop. She lives here now with Clint and Natasha."
"They found a kid? How long ago? Why didn't we hear?" Darcy complained.
"Um.. I don't know. Long distance communication is kind of hard between dimensions, galaxies, earths or whatever Asgard is. It's not the best excuse. Sorry," Harley said sarcastically.
Darcy laughed and ruffled his hair. Jane was looking at Kate. "How old are you Kate?"
"Seven."
"Really? Midgardian children are so small. Even at the age of Peter, man of spiders," Thor exclaimed.
"Hey!" All three kids protested. They weren't that small.
"Even other midgardians, like Darcy are small."
"You just happen to be huge," Darcy told Thor. "I just happen to be fun-sized."
"I do not understand?" Thor muttered.
"Even I understood that reference," came a voice from the other side of the large room. The Avengers were back, having arrived from the elevator.
Tony was rolling his eyes at Steve as he looked around the room. "Okay, so obviously Thor, Jane and Darcy are back but I thought you were home tonight Peter?"
"Pepper had a meeting. I got called in for duty. Here," he replied handing a half asleep Kate to Clint.
"Thanks."
"You found Bucky too?" Darcy yelped. "See! These are the things you don't hear when there's no Wifi."
"We'll catch you up in a moment," Bruce agreed. "I think I need to change first."
"I'm taking Kate to bed, but I'll be back to discuss everything too."
"That means bed for you too Harley. Now!" Tony ordered before his son's open mouth spoke the words to complain. Harley pouted and glared.
"You'll see hear everything you don't know in the morning," Tony assured.
"I'll tell you it all," Peter agreed.
"I'm not sure you're staying either. May's probably getting worried. Call her then hit the hay," Steve told him.
"I thought I was allowed at this stuff? Aren't I an official unofficial Avenger?" Peter asked.
"You're sixteen," Pietro pointed out.
"And you're nineteen," Peter argued.
"They're twenty next week. You just turned sixteen two months ago. Don't you also have that summer class tomorrow?" Natasha said sternly.
"Fine. F.R.I.D.A.Y? Please call Aunt May to let her know I'm staying the night." He looked back one more time before trudging to the elevator and to his room on Tony's floor.
"Now can you explain?" Darcy demanded.
"Darcy, be nicer. We have things to explain too," Jane pointed out.
"Yes, I do believe our tales from Asgard might be quite shocking."
"Shocking? Really Thor?" Clint asked coming back in.
"I can't say I haven't heard worse. Between you, Peter and Tony there are so many horrible puns," Steve pointed out.
"You suffer nothing. Pietro is horrible too. I've listened to it since birth," Wanda groaned.
Sam looked at them all rolling his eyes, "This is nice and all but I'd like to get some rest. Can we talk quickly and get it over with?"
"Sam's right. You guys want to go first?" Steve asked.
"I think you guys should," Jane said.
"Okay. Bucky can I start with you?"
"Go ahead punk."
So the now completely assembled Avengers sat down as Steve started talking and they caught up on what Jane, Darcy and Thor had missed over the past three months.
