6x13 Dreams Come True
June 2015
"I want you guys to remember something. Glee Club is not about competition. It's about something deeper. Glee is about opening yourself up to joy."'
DING DING!
"That's our cue!" said Noelle as she stood to rise from her chair.
"Don't strain yourself Sis," said Kurt reassuringly.
"Oh honestly Kurt, I'm pregnant, not disabled," said Noelle as Josh helped her up from her seat and Noelle turned to reveal her eight and a half month belly.
"You two are so lucky that Nationals were in Nashville this year," said Kurt.
"Just pray that Noelle doesn't pull a Quinn and go into labor," teased Josh and Noelle scowled at him.
"Can't remember the last time I was this nervous," said Will.
"Oh, well, you don't look nervous at all," said Rachel as the group walked out of the dressing room area and towards the stage.
"You look great," said Blaine.
"Are you ready?" Will asked the group as they joined the New Directions on stage.
"Yeah," said Noelle.
"20, count 'em, 20 of this nation's best high school show choirs have poured out their talent all over this stage. And now we're down to the best of the best. From Greenville, South Carolina, the Harmony Busters."
The audience clapped and cheered as each of the top three teams was listed.
"From Lima, Ohio, the New Directions!"
" And from Portland, Oregon, the Soprano-gasms," continued the announcer. "Only one of these amazing teams can claim the title of the best high school show choir in America. Good luck, to all the teams. In third place, it's the Harmony Busters!" The audience cheered and applauded as the Harmony Busters accepted their trophy.
"And now, the first place winner of the 2015 high school show choir nationals championship is the New Directions!"
The audience went nuts as confetti was fired out of cannons and the group celebrated their win.
"Josh, I think you jinxed me," said Noelle as she gripped his arm.
"What? Now? Are you shitting me?" Josh asked. Everyone stopped and saw that Noelle was standing in a puddle of water.
"Oh my god," Rachel exclaimed breathlessly as she put her hands to her mouth.
"Rach, call Mom and Dad, they're at the house," said Noelle. "Someone get me the hell to the hospital."
"Knock knock, can we come in?" asked Rachel as she poked her head into the hospital room. Noelle was sitting up in the bed, holding a bundle of blankets as Josh sat next to her.
"Sure, come on in," said Noelle with a smile. The members of the New Directions, young and old, came into the room, trophy in tow, and they awwed at the newest arrival.
"Everyone, say hello to Madison Finn Koontz," said Noelle as she showed off the hour old infant. "And Madison, before you get all excited, I had her first name picked out a long time ago before I met you." The group laughed as Madison, who looked enthusiastic and thought they were honoring her, suddenly felt dejected. Mason patted his twin on the shoulder.
"Gosh, she looks just like you did when you were born," said Carole as she came up to the new parents. "Can I?"
"Sure Mom," said Noelle, passing off the infant to Carole.
"I called Puck and Quinn, they send their congrats," said Kurt. "They're sorry they couldn't come here with the kids since Quinn's sick."
"I bet you ten bucks that Quinn's preggers again," Josh replied and Noelle laughed.
"Does it hurt?" asked Jane.
"Oh you have no idea," muttered Noelle. "And I went natural. Never again."
Rachel and Jesse were holding their kids in either of their arms, letting them get a look at their new cousin.
"Makes you want to start a little co-production of our own, doesn't it?" Jesse teased. Everyone laughed as Rachel blushed.
"I think Rach is focusing on the honeymoon baby," teased Noelle and everyone laughed again.
A month later, Will was sitting in Superintendent Harris' office, stunned,
"Uh, uh, I-I'm sorry," said Will. "Would you mind saying that again? I-I'm not sure I understood you correctly."
"The District Board of Education has decided to make McKinley an arts school. In a very short time from now, you and I will be standing in the choir room of the William McKinley High School for the Performing Arts."
"Wh-Wh-What happened?" Will replied.
"To be completely honest, Will, you happened," said Superintendent Harris. "Over the last decade, school districts across the country have been facing multi-million dollar budget shortfalls."
"Yeah."
"And our quick fix was eliminating arts programs altogether. Prioritizing what we would hope would be more essential subjects like math, reading, science. You know what? We were wrong. Scores did not go up. In fact, in some places, they got worse. But you you refused to let that stop you. And I decided it was time for me to stick my neck out and make a pitch to the board. And to my great surprise, they agreed with me."
"Superintendent Harris, I mean this is incredible news," said Will. "Please, please, if-if there's anything I can do to help, just-just let me know."
"What are you talking about?" asked Superintendent Harris. "I'm gonna have you run the school."
"Uh, I beg your pardon?" Will asked dumbfounded.
"I'm making you principal, Will," said Superintendent Harris. "Congratulations."
September 2015
"Here he is!" said Rachel excitedly three months later. The returning members of the New Directions included everyone but Kitty, Roderick, Marley, Unique, Jake and Ryder and there were now several new faces.
"Wow, um I have to say this is the most exciting first day of Glee Club that we have ever had," said Will as he walked into the room. All of the alumni sat near the piano as the group stood near the piano.
"No offense to the alumni who have been here since the very first-ever Glee Club meeting." Will continued. "All right, please, everyone, have a seat."
"So, Mr. Shue when are you gonna start auditions?" teased Noelle.
"Yeah, I think you're gonna have trouble sticking to your whole 'whoever wants in, gets in' rule," said Puck and Quinn laughed.
Not true, Puck," laughed Will. "The New Directions will be only one of the glee clubs at this school. I'm bringing back the Troubletones and starting an all-boys version called the Duly Noted. And we're also gonna have a junior varsity squad for those who feel like they need a little seasoning before they're ready for the big time."
"So, wait, how are you gonna teach all those glee clubs and run a school?" asked Harmony confused.
"I'm not," said Will. "I'm actually not coaching any of them."
"What?" cried the alumni and returning members.
"Not even the New Directions?" asked Blaine.
"Well, uh, I've interviewed a a candidate for that particular job that I really like. But until then, I wanted to say farewell to you all with a song that I prepared for this occasion. My life changed because of all the magic that we created in this room. And if I've learned one thing, it's the message in the lyrics of this song. This is for you guys."
Will:
You, who are on the road must
have a code that you can live by
And so become yourself because
The past is just a good bye
Teach, your children well,
Their father's hell will slowly go by,
And feed them on your dreams,
The one they fix, the one you'll know by
Don't you ever ask them why,
If they told you, you would cry,
So just look at them and sigh and know they love you
You, of the tender years
Can't know the fears that your elders grew by,
And so please help them with your youth,
They seek the truth before they can die
Teach, your parents well,
Their children's hell will slowly go by,
And feed them on your dreams,
The one they fix,the one you'll know by
Don't you ever ask them why,
If they told you, you would cry,
So just look at them and sigh and know they love you
The group cheered and clapped as the song ended. There was not a dry eye in the room for any of the alumni. Will blew a kiss to Rachel and Noelle as they hugged each other.
"Congratulations to all of you," said Will a couple days later. He stood in the choir room with Blaine, Kurt, Noelle, Josh, Rachel, Jesse, Puck and Quinn. "You have been selected as the best of the best. You are this year's New Directions!" The kids clapped and cheered. "Now I would like to introduce you all to your new teacher, Mr. Sam Evans."
"Wait, hold on, no," said Kurt, horrified as Sam walked in, followed by Mercedes.
"Y-You're taking over the glee club?" asked Noelle breathlessly.
"Jealous?" Sam asked.
"Yeah," said Blaine.
"I could not be more proud to pass the baton off to you," said Will to Sam.
"Go get 'em, buddy," said Puck, clapping a hand on his shoulder.
"All right, all right, all right," said Sam. He walked over to the piano. "So look, I've been thinking a lot about the first week's lesson." He walked up to the dry erase board and picked up the marker. "This week, your assignment is country!" Noelle grinned and beamed with pride as everyone else looked at him in horror.
"Uh-oh." said Kurt to Will, who patted him on the shoulder.
"Let's see where he goes with this," said Will.
"Country and blues come from the same roots," said Sam. "The hardship of a rural life. Country uses little personal stories about breakups or broken-down pickups to express the deeper pains of poverty and anxiety that was in still, uh, such a normal part of life in the American South. Now, if we want to be great, we need to be able to sing about hurt and loss. And even if we can't relate to the specifics, make them our own. So who wants to start us off with a country song?"
"Let's do "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy!" said Spencer.
"Yes!" said Madison.
"Oh dear god," muttered Myron as he face-palmed.
"Well, looks like we all belong right where we are," said Noelle.
"I couldn't agree more," said Will.
April 2020
"Nervous?"
"Just a little bit." Jesse was fiddling with his bowtie and Josh was smoothing his hair down.
"I mean, this is a big deal for both of them," Jesse replied.
"Of course it is," said Josh. "This doesn't happen to a lot of people. Usually once they leave they don't go back."
"Yeah, I mean I can understand Rachel, and we had talked about this, but Noelle? She's already famous enough as it is, it shocked the Country Music World just like when Taylor Swift said she was going Pop."
"We better go check on them," said Josh, clapping a hand on his shoulder. The two headed out of the room and walked down a busy hallway, filled with people who were hustling and bustling and the two knocked on another door.
"Come in," Rachel said. The two boys opened the door and saw their wives sitting in front of their vanity mirrors.
"You two ready?" asked Jesse.
"Just about," said Noelle, standing up and facing the two of them. "We just have to get dressed into our costumes."
"I can't believe you two are back on Broadway," said Josh.
"You know, this was both our dreams," said Rachel. "Yeah, I'm always going to be a mom and I'm always going to have time for our kids, but I've missed being on stage."
"And same for me," said Noelle. "I'm happy being a mom to just Madison for now, but we have plenty of time for more kids. Yeah, I did the music scene and I'll go back to that too, but I miss performing musicals and plays. Everyone does it, Babe."
A knock came at the door and Josh opened it to reveal all of their friends.
"Hey! You guys made it!" said Noelle, hugging Harmony, Heather and Melissa.
"Yeah, we're here," said Harmony. "Oh, guys, I want to introduce you to someone. Well, you already know him. We met up in L.A. and reconnected, and he's not the person he was when we were in school anymore. He's grown up." Noelle, Josh, and Rachel grew a look of horror on their faces when Rick "The Stick" Nelson walked into the room with a crew cut instead of his trademark mullet.
"What!" hissed Noelle.
"Hi guys, congrats on everything," said Rick. He held up his hands in defeat. "I'm sorry I was such an asshole but I swear I'm not that person anymore."
"Rick got signed with the L.A. Kings and we reconnected at an awards show after-party," said Harmony. She held up her hand. "And he proposed yesterday!"
"Wow! Congratulations you guys!" said Blaine as the girls squealed and hugged Harmony. The guys shook Rick's hand.
"Wow, that's going to be news for the media!" said Noelle.
"Also, I just finished filming a movie and there's rumors that it's going to be nominated for several Golden Globes," said Harmony.
"Holy shit!" said Melissa. "You're joking!"
"Nope," said Harmony with a grin. "There's rumors swirling I will be nominated as well!"
"That's amazing, congrats!" said Heather. "Oh, and Melissa and I have some news of our own!"
"What's that?" asked Rachel.
"We're going to the Summer Olympics!" said Melissa. "We both qualified in our events!"
"Oh my god! You guys are going to do so well!" said Noelle, hugging both of her friends.
"We're also getting married too!" added Heather. They held up their hands and the group gasped.
"Wait, to who?" asked Rachel. "I didn't even know you two were seeing people!"
"Actually, that's the other surprise," said Melissa. "We never told anyone, not until now, but Heather and I have been secretly dating each other since high school."
"We knew it!" hissed Noelle and Harmony.
"Why didn't you tell anyone?" asked Kurt, dumbfounded. "We would have supported you!"
"My parents mostly," said Heather. "They're pretty religious and grew up on the beliefs of marriage being between a man and a woman. I knew I was gay when I was 15 and I was so scared to tell them for fear of being disowned like Santana's grandma had done."
"But we told both of our families together and they are actually really supportive," said Melissa.
"Congrats you two, we're really happy for you," said Josh, hugging them.
A knock came at the door and a stagehand poked his head in.
"Ten minutes, Mrs. St. James, Mrs. Koontz!" said the stagehand.
"Thank you Fred!" said Rachel and Noelle.
"I guess that's our cue to to go take our seats," said Josh. Everyone wished Rachel and Noelle good luck with hugs and kisses. The group headed out to their seats and sat down. Josh and Jesse gave both of their wives huge kisses respectively and joined the others a moment later. The kids were all sitting together with Burt and Carole, anxious to see their moms perform in a big musical revival. Puck and Quinn were also sitting with Beth and Alex.
"Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, welcome to the Shubert Theatre. We ask that you please refrain from flash photography and videography due to copyright laws. If you are caught you will be asked to leave. Please turn off all cellphones and personal devices. There is no smoking in the theatre. And now, please sit back and enjoy as Kelsey Grammar, Rachel Hudson-St. James and Noelle Hudson-Koontz take you to the second star to the right with Peter Pan!"
"Dear night-lights, protect my sleeping babes. Burn clear and steadfast tonight."
Backstage, Noelle took a deep breath and anticipated her grand entrance. The audience watched as the light that was Tinkerbell was shone all around the stage. And then the two large windows were opened by the stagehands and Noelle flew into the room to the cheers of the audience. Josh wolf-whistled as Noelle gracefully landed center stage and the people around him laughed, knowing who he was.
"Tink!" Noelle loudly whispered. "TINK! Where are you?" She looked around and saw the light flashing.
"Have you found it?" Noelle asked. The light moved over to the drawer.
"Brilliant!" said Noelle. She crept over to the drawer and opened it and pulled out the black cloth that was her shadow. "Now I just need to stick it back on!" Noelle looked around and saw the bar of soap.
"Aha! This should do the trick!" said Noelle. She rubbed the soap on the cloth and stuck it to her forehead.
"Stick!" said Noelle. The cloth fell down and she frowned, causing the audience to laugh. The light representing Tinkerbell shone and the sound was made and Noelle laughed.
"Of course, how silly of me!" said Noelle to the light. "Soap doesn't work without water." Noelle spit on the soap and rubbed it again on the cloth.
"And stick!" Noelle said again as she repeated the process. The audience laughed as the shadow fell again. Noelle pretended to keep trying to stick the shadow on her and the audience laughed hard.
"Oh bugger," sighed Noelle as she plopped indian-style on the floor and put her head in her hands.
"Boy, why are crying?" Noelle turned in Rachel's direction as Rachel sprang up and stated her line.
"I wasn't crying," said Noelle quickly as she pretended to be startled and stood up. "I, er, have dust in my eye. What's your name?"
"Wendy Moira Angela Darling," replied Rachel. "What's yours?"
"I'm Peter Pan," said Noelle. "I come by every night to hear your stories. I especially like the one about the girl and the glass slipper. But the other night I lost my shadow so I came back for it. I was trying to stick it back on with soap."
Rachel laughed.
"Oh, you can't stick a shadow back on with soap!" said Rachel as she climbed out of bed. "It has to be sewn on." Rachel pulled a sewing kit out of the drawer and sat down next to Noelle. "Here, I shall sew it on for you my little man. It may hurt a little."
"Ouch!" cried Noelle as Rachel pretended to sew on the shadow.
"There," said Rachel. "Good as new, but I still don't understand why anyone would make a big fuss over their shadow."
"I'll tell you why," said Noelle. "It's not just any old shadow, it's mine! My very own shadow!" The shadow appeared on the wall to the cheers of the audience and music started to play.
"You're conceited!" cried Rachel.
Noelle: Not me,
It's just that I am what I am
And I'm me!
When I look at myself
And I see in myself
All the wonderful things that I see
If I'm pleased with myself
I have ev'ry good reason to be.
I've gotta crow!
I'm just the cleverest fellow
'Twas ever my fortune to know;
I taught a trick to my shadow
To stick to the tip of my toe
I've gotta crow!
I've gotta brag!
I think it's sweet
I have fingers and feet I can wiggle and wag.
I can climb trees and play tag with the breeze
In the meadows below
I've gotta crow!
If I were a very ordinary
Ev'ry day thing,
I'd never be heard cock-a-doodling
'Round like a bird!
So Naturally
When I discover the cleverness of a remarkable me,
How can I hide it
When deep down inside it just tickles me so
That I've gotta let go and crow!
I'm really a rare thing,
Such a fair thing,
I can't keep still!
I'm bursting with pride
And I just couldn't keep it inside
If I tried so...
Naturally
When I discover the cleverness of a remarkable me,
How can I hide it
When deep down inside it just tickles me so
That I've gotta let go and crow!
The audience clapped and cheered and Noelle sat back down on the floor. Rachel joined her.
"So where do you live?" asked Rachel.
"The most wonderful place ever!" said Noelle. There was a ringing sound and Rachel looked around.
"What was that?" asked Rachel.
"Oh that? That's my fairy, Tinkerbell, but you can call her Tink," said Peter. The ringing was made again by the orchestra.
"Tink! That's not very nice!" said Noelle.
"What did she say?" asked Rachel.
"She said 'You Silly Arse'," replied Noelle. The audience laughed.
"Is she really a fairy?" asked Rachel.
"Of course she is!" said Noelle as she sat on the rocking horse and started to rock. "Although most fairies are nearly dead now."
"How awful!" said Rachel. "How come?"
"Well, when the first baby laughed, the laugh broke into a million pieces, and they all went skipping about," said Noelle. "That's how fairies came to be. But when someone says they don't believe in fairies, one falls dead right on the spot."
"How dreadful!" said Rachel. "How old are you?"
"No idea, I ran away the day I was born," said Noelle. "But I reckon I must be nearly twelve."
"Why'd you run away?" asked Rachel.
"I overheard my mother planning my future," said Noelle. "Her future for me was not anything I wanted to do. I always wanted to be a little boy and have fun! So I ran away. Then Tinkerbell found me and rescued me and took me to Neverland."
"Neverland?" asked Rachel. "Is that where you live?"
"Sure is," said Noelle. "Second star to the right and straight on til morning."
"Tell me about it!" said Rachel.
Noelle: I have a place where dreams are born,
And time is never planned.
It's not on any chart,
You must find it with your heart.
Never Never Land.
It might be miles beyond the moon,
Or right there where you stand.
Just keep an open mind,
And then suddenly you'll find
Never Never Land.
You'll have a treasure if you stay there,
More precious far than gold.
For once you have found your way there,
You can never, never grow old.
And that's my home where dreams are born,
And time is never planned.
Just think of lovely things.
And your heart will fly on wings,
Forever in Never Never Land.
You'll have a treasure if you stay there,
More precious far than gold.
For once you have found your way there,
You can never, never grow old.
And that's my home where dreams are born,
And time is never planned.
Just think of lovely things.
And your heart will fly on wings,
Forever in Never Never Land
Fall 2020
"Ladies and gentlemen, the Vice President of the United States."
The men, women, and children sitting in the auditorium clapped as Burt Hummel entered Stage Left.
"Twenty-seven years ago, Lillian Adler told a young man and his friends that "glee," by its very definition, is about opening yourself up to joy. Now, it's no secret that for a long time, I thought that was a load of baloney." said Burt. "As far as I saw back then, the glee club was nothing more than a place where a bunch of cowardly losers went to sing their troubles away, and delude themselves that they live in a world that cares one iota about their hopes and dreams, totally divorced from the harsh reality that out in the the real world, there's not much more to hope for than disappointment, heartbreak and failure." Burt sighed.
"But Kurt and Noelle and everyone else changed that thought. What I finally realized, now that I'm into my fifties, that it takes a lot of bravery to look around you, and see the world, not as it is, but as it should be. A world where the quarterback becomes best friends and brothers with the gay kid, where a little girl in a wheelchair can overcome obstacles and learn to walk again, and land two different leads on Broadway, and where two teenage couples deal with starting a family young and raising some beautiful kids. Glee is about imagining a world like that, and finding the courage to open up your heart and sing about it. That's what Glee Club is. And for the longest time, I thought that was silly. And now, I think it's just about the bravest thing that anyone could do. I'm honored to be here to rededicate this theater, after my late step-son, the Finn Hudson Auditorium. William, it is with your hard work, in his memory, that you managed to accomplish something unimaginable. McKinley High School for the Performing Arts has become an overwhelming success, a model for public schools that showcase the arts, now being replicated all across the country. Congratulations, Will Schuester. You and your Glee Club have accomplished something quite remarkable. And now, without further ado, it is my pleasure to introduce the New Directions!"
Everyone clapped as Will ran up the stage steps. The curtain rising to reveal Sam, Puck, Quinn, Tina, and Artie.
Will:
Hope when you take that jump
You don't feel the fall
Will with Sam:
Hope when the water rises
You built a wall
Artie:
Hope when the crowd screams out
They're screaming your name
Artie with Sam:
Hope if everybody runs
You choose to stay
Rachel, Noelle, Mercedes, Josh, Blaine, and Kurt entered next.
Rachel (with Mercedes):
I hope that you fall in love
(And it hurts so bad)
Mercedes:
Yeah
Rachel:
Oh
Noelle (with Mercedes):
The (only way you can know)
You give it (all you had)
Mercedes:
Hey, yeah
Blaine:
And I hope that you don't suffer
But take the pain
Blaine with Kurt:
Hope when the moment comes
You'll say
Blaine jumped up as Roderick and the 2015 New Directions entered the stage. Joining them were Mike, Jesse, Rory, and Sugar.
Roderick with Rachel and New Directions (Roderick with Rachel):
I, I did it all
I, I did it all
Josh and Noelle(with New Directions):
(I) owned every second that this world could give
(I saw) so many places, the things that I did
(Yeah) With every broken bone
I swear I lived
Sam:
Hope that you spend your days
But they all add up
Mercedes and Sam:
Ooh
And when that sun goes down
Hope you raise your cup
Ooh
Blaine with Kurt:
I wish that I could witness
All your joy and all your pain
Blaine and Kurt:
But until my moment comes
I'll say
Roderick with Rachel and the New Directions (Roderick with Rachel):
I, I did it all
I, I did it all
(I) owned every second that this world could give
(I saw) so many places, the things that I did
(Yeah) With every broken bone
I swear I lived
New Directions :

Oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh
At this point, other alumni started to enter the auditorium from different places. Santana and Brittney came down the steps. Jake and Kitty came in from one side while Ryder and Marley came in from another. Harmony, Rick, Heather, Melissa and Unique joined them in a line as the alumni on stage also lined up. Rachel and Jesse stood at the top of the stage on the risers.
Rachel (with the New Directions):

I lived

Oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh (Mmhh)
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh (Mmhh)
Oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh (Mmhh)
Oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh (Mmhh)
THE END
