Episode 6 Chapter 4

The next day, Brandon walked out of homeroom. He was exhausted because he had barely slept the night before. He spent the entire night reading Lauren's journal. He though it might help, but it actually confused him more than ever.

He had no idea who he really was. The guy Lauren portrayed was very different from how he felt. She made him seem like some kind of hero. She mentioned numerous times how he had saved her from herself. She talked about the time they got high. Brandon was completely surprised. He never imagined he would do drugs. He almost didn't believe it.

There were so many things in her journal that he didn't believe. He couldn't believe that their relationship began because of some scheme.

He felt like he shouldn't have read the journal. It had definitely been a mistake.

Callie walked down the hall. She hadn't slept at all. She hadn't talked to Stef the night before. She wasn't ready to talk about it. She couldn't believe Frank had cancer. She couldn't believe he had refused chemo. The thing that surprised her the most was the fact that Stef was keeping it from them. Why would she do that?

They deserved to know. She wanted to spend as much time with him as possible. They all deserved that chance.

Brandon looked at her. "You okay?" He could tell something was bothering her.

She looked at him and shook her head. "I'm fine." She could tell something was up with him too. "Are you still worried about Charlotte? You have bags under your eyes."

"Yeah. So do you." Brandon didn't answer her question. He didn't want to talk about it.

Callie was relieved they didn't go into further detail. She wasn't ready to talk to anyone about what she knew. Actually, she couldn't be in school any longer. She waited until Brandon was completely out of sight and walked out of the building. She had somewhere she needed to be.

Kaitlyn, Mariana, Haley, and some of the other girls from the team are at the park watching a dance off. "Mariana, you are the best." Kaitlyn told her. "Seriously. This is awesome."

"Yeah. It is pretty cool." Mariana smiled. She was excited. Kaitlyn had finally accepted her.

"And you are beginning to look so much better too." Kaitlyn pointed at Mariana's waist. "I can tell you have been working on it. I'm very impressed." Kaitlyn smiled and then walked off.

"You really should ignore her." Haley had overheard the conversation. "You are beautiful."

"Thanks." Mariana smiled.

"Are you okay?"

Mariana nodded. "I guess I'm just nervous. I know we have the excuses, but if my mom realizes I'm not in school she is going to freak out."

"Stop stressing about it." Haley tapped Mariana's shoulder. "Just enjoy the dancing. That's why we are here."

"Okay. You are right."

"I know. I usually am." Haley pulled Mariana towards the stage so they could get a closer look.

Mariana decided to stop worrying about it. It was all about having fun.

Timothy knocked on Lena's door. "Lena."

"Hey Timothy," Lena looked up at him. "Is something wrong?"

"Take a look at these." He handed her excuses that some of the dance team members had given him.

"What is this? I didn't sign these." Lena said once she saw her signature.

"I didn't think so."

Lena looked through each excuse. "Mariana?"

Timothy nodded. "I knew you wouldn't write that many excuses without letting the teachers know. I heard one of the girls that didn't go say they went to the park."

Lena shook her head. "I can't believe Mariana would do this. I don't know what has gotten into her lately." Lena leaned back into her chair. "How did they even get these? I keep them in my desk. It isn't like anyone has access to them besides me."

Timothy made a face.

Lena let out a heavy sigh. "Of course. Someone took them. And I don't need to guess who." Lena stood up

"What are you going to do?" Timothy asked.

"Bring them back to school." Lena walked out of her office. The girls were going to wish they had stayed in school.

"Jude." Connor chased him down the hall. "Will you please slow down?"

"Why? So you can make fun of me?" Jude turned around to face him.

"No. I want to say I'm sorry. Really Jude. I don't know why I acted that way. It was dumb. And I'm really, really sorry."

Jude was about to speak when two boys walked past them. "What a loser. Loser. Loser. Loser." The boy said in a sing song voice.

"Hey don't call him that. He isn't a loser." Connor took up for Jude.

"What are you going to do about it?" The boy crossed his arms.

"This." Much to everyone's surprise, Connor hit the boy in the face.

The other boy jumped in on the fight. Jude didn't know what else to do so he joined in too.

"Emma," Jesus called out for her after seeing her walk down the hall.

She kept walking.

"Emma," Jesus knew she was ignoring him. "Emma, please stop."

Emma slowly turned around.

Jesus walked closer to her. "Please let me…"

"Stop," Emma held up her hand. "I don't want to hear it. I'm sick and tired of listening to your lies."

"Emma…Please let me explain."

Emma shook her head. "I can't trust anything that comes out of your mouth. So you are wasting your breath with me. I don't want to hear it. I'm not going to hear it." With that said she walked away.

Jesus sighed. "Damn it."

"Jesus." Jeremy tapped him on the shoulder. "You've been avoiding me."

"No I haven't." Jesus lied.

"Then I guess you have my brother's money." Jeremy glared at him.

"Here." Jesus reached into his pocket.

Jeremy counted it. "This isn't enough. This isn't even half." Jeremy was pissed. "Where is the rest of it?"

"I don't have the rest of it. I won't be able to get the rest of it."

"You don't have a choice." Jeremy grabbed Jesus's shirt. "My brother wants his money back, and he wants it back now. I'm sure your moms would give you the money."

"I can't tell them." Jesus admitted.

"Yes you can." Jeremy pushed him against the lockers. "I'll tell them if you don't."

"You can't." Jesus pushed back.

"Oh yes I can." Jeremy hit Jesus in the stomach.

Jesus caught his breath and punched Jeremy in the face. Without second thought the two boys were rolling on the ground fighting.

"Hey," Brandon approached Charlotte at her locker. "Can I talk to you?"

"Brandon, I've got to get to class." Charlotte closed her locker.

"Hey babe." Wes touched Charlotte's waste. Brandon could tell that she was jumpy. "Hey amnesia boy."

"Don't call me that." Brandon growled at him.

"What are you going to do about it? Huh? That's right. Absolutely nothing, amnesia boy." Wes taunted him.

That was it. Brandon was fed up. Before he realized what he was doing, he had punched Wes in the face. Wes came after him.

"Stop." Charlotte yelled at them, but neither boy listened to her.

Marina and the girls were still in the park watching the dance-off.

She was trying to learn some of the moves.

"Having fun?"

Mariana turned around to see her mama standing behind her. Her eyes grew larger than her face.

"I hope so because you won't get another chance for a very long time." Lena told her. "Let's go."

Mariana and the other girls followed Lena. Mariana knew she was going to be in so much trouble.

Callie was about to walk into Frank's hospital room when Stef walked out. "You better have a good explanation as to why you aren't in school?" Stef said with her arms folded.

Callie gulped. "I couldn't focus."

"And why not?"

"Because I know Grandpa Frank has cancer, and I don't understand why you didn't tell us." Callie crosses her arms and stares at Stef.

Stef sighed. So much for keeping it a secret.

Let me know what you thought! A lot of fighting in this chapter!
