Chapter 34

Max and Chantelle were put in separate interrogation rooms. Chantelle shrieked demanding she'd been wronged and for Tyler to represent her.

"I'm not representing you, Mother," Tyler said, "You pulled on a knife on our head of security."

"That pest you call a wife is over dramatic," Chantelle said, "While I"m waiting for a real lawyer to take care of this, we need to talk about the Cassadine Estate."

"There's nothing to talk about," Tyler said, "We're not actually Cassadines. The estate has nothing to do with us."

"My spies tell me Nikolas asked to take on executorship of the estate in the event something were to happen to him," Chantelle said, "We have the perfect opportunity to take what the Cassadines owe us for for treating me like nothing more than garbage. As soon as something happens to the little prince, you'll be in charge of the whole estate."

"No I won't, Mother," Tyler said, "I declined to take that on. In fact, I called Nik on the way here to tell."

"I raised an idiot instead of a son," Chantelle replied, "Why in God's name would you do that?"

"I really didn't want to be a target for an estate that doesn't having anything to do with me," Tyler said, "Every nut and Cassadine will come out of the woodwork. You just proved my point, Mother."

"Call your cousin back," Chantelle said, "And tell him you changed your mind."

"No, Mother," Tyler said.

"Remember I can make life very unpleasant for you, your little wife in particular," Chantelle said.

"I'd be very careful throwing threats around mother," Tyler said, "Your people are outgunned when it comes to my wife and her people. Besides I'm sure Grandma Helena would love to hear all about this."

Chantelle looked displeased at the notion when an officer summoned Tyler out of the room. Tyler walked out meeting Kellie, Max, and Lulu.

"The security footage backs up that your mother pulled a knife," the officer said, "What do you want to do?"

Simultaneously, Kellie, Tyler, Lulu, and Max said, "Press charges."

The officer looked slightly taken aback.

Outside the station, Tyler called Nik and filled him in on Chantelle's antics. Lulu suggested wedding dress shopping to Kellie.

"You came here because you were fed up with that stuff with Sage," Kellie said, "Now all of a sudden you want to go wedding dress shopping?"

"Your wedding is not that far away" Lulu said, "You are still having it right."

"Of course," Kellie said, "Dress shopping is not on my list of things to do today."

"Why not?" Lulu said.

I just haven't thought about," Kellie said, "I don't have any clue what I want. I'll pick something up at some point."

"As your friend that is not an acceptable answer," Lulu said, "As luck would have I may stolen a bunch of Sage's bridal magazine, we can start getting an idea for what you might like back at your place."

Back at the townhouse, a note was left on the door.

"If you want to find Sage's son, you'll play my little game. Await further instructions."

Taped to the note was a chess piece, a pawn.
