"Karkat."
I'm woken by Sollux's whispered voice, and I sit up slowly, rubbing my yes to see that Sollux is sitting up and quietly laughing at me. I growl under my breath but can't help but smile at him. I pull my hand away from his, somewhat shocked that I managed to hold it all night.
"Why were you th'leeping in the chair? That couldn't have been comfortable," he asks with a concerned tone of voice. I shake my head and ruffle a hand through my hair.
"I had a nightmare and ended up falling off the shitty pull out bed, I honestly didn't think I was going to fall asleep but I somehow did." I reply, stretching and standing up. Sollux frowns.
"Why didn't you wake me up?"
"You were asleep that's why! I wasn't going to bother waking you over something as petty as a stupid nightmare," I snort, crossing my arms and rolling my eyes.
Sollux huffs in response but doesn't try to continue arguing, he has a feeling this was an argument he isn't going to win.
"Did you get any more of the homework done?" he asks instead, knowing from the past few days that I work on our assignments after he goes to sleep.
"Only two, the one's that John and Rose assigned," I reply, walking over to where the stack of papers is and grabbing the two completed ones. I also grab Sollux's laptop and set it on the end of the bed before handing him the papers and a pencil.
"At least we're almost caught up," I say lightheartedly as I watch him write. He smiles,
"If we hadn't slacked off the first few days we received papers we would've been fine," He gives me a look and I snort as I ruffle his hair, making it stick up more than it already had been.
"Hey-ey!" He protests, tossing the pencil at me and hitting my shoulder. I raise an eyebrow at him and slowly move to pick up the pencil before he puts his hands in the air, yelling quickly, "Truce Truce!"
"God you're an idiot," I laugh, walking over and sitting beside him on the bed, moving to lean against his shoulder. He laughs and wraps an arm around my shoulders.
"But I'm your idiot," He whispers in my ear, a smile obvious in his voice. I turn to him, making a face but before I can either attempt to mess with his hair more or smack his shoulders, I feel my eyes widen in shock as he kisses me. I don't make any move to pull away, instead moving to wrap my arms around his neck. I feel him smile against my lips, and I pull back enough to look at him.
Before I'm allowed to say anything, the door is opened and Gamzee strides in with a big fucking grin on his face. I stare at him with my mouth slightly open and blushing furiously as he looks over me and Sollux, his grin getting wider.
"Oh, hey Karbro, did I interrupt something?" His smug look makes me scramble from Sollux's lap, causing Sollux grab at my arm as I walk over to Gamzee with a glare.
"Gamzee you asshole!" I yell, hitting his shoulder as hard as I could. Gamzee just laughs at me and pats the top of my head.
"Aw, I'm sorry Kar, didn't mean to interrupt the two of you, there's no need to be all up and punchin me though." I ignore Gamzee's laugh as I huff and cross my arms, turning back around to see Sollux laughing as well, a blush still staining his cheeks.
After a few seconds of me glaring at the wall I sigh, still slightly annoyed but glad my blush was dying down, "Why are you even here this early Gamzee," I ask, turning to see that Gamzee was just waiting for me to speak.
"Oh, uh, I don't all up and remember, it's just been a bit I guess," Gamzee answers lazily. I stare at him before groaning.
"Your level of stupidity will never cease to amaze me Gamzee."
We talk to Gamzee for awhile, although Sollux talks to him more than I do because I'm still a bit annoyed at him. Occasionally I input my opinion on the conversation, but more often than not I stay silent.
Seemingly immediately after Gamzee leaves, Thelm walks in, with Porrim close behind.
"Breakfast," Thelm says as he tosses a fast food bag onto Sollux's bed.
"Love you too," Sollux replies, rolling his eyes, "And technically it'th lunch." He says as he begins eating some of the fries, glaring at me when I steal a few.
Thelm shrugs indifferently and moves to lean against the wall, Porrim is looking skeptically at the transaction between the two, but just shrugs and taps a pen against her clipboard.
"Well, I have some good news for you, they're letting you go home tomorrow," She begins with a small smile. Sollux grins and gives a thumbs up.
"Thank god, I'm getting bored jutht laying around all day."
I snort and give him a look, earning a glare, but turn away with a smirk as Thelm stops us from bantering like usual.
"I would get you out today but the amount of paperwork for that is absolutely fucking ridiculous, so just one more day of lazing around won't kill you," He comments lightly. Before Sollux can give a sarcastic remark, Porrim begins speaking again.
"Lazing around can be good for you in this sense, but anyway, today a bunch of doctors and stuff are going to be checking on you, making sure it's 'safe for you to leave'," She adds air quotes with only a small amount of sass, "So I'd advise against any make-out sessions you two." She stares at the both of us blankly until I begin sputtering about how much of an idiot she is before she starts laughing, Thelm joining in.
"See you boys later," Thelm mock salutes as he leaves, barely giving us a second look as he controls his laughter.
"KK don't be th'o embarrathed," Sollux laughs, taking the opportunity of me looking away to ruffle my hair.
I huff, but don't answer as I push his arm away and steal another fry, ignoring his shout of indignation.
"Hey, at leatht you won't have to thleep on that shitty bed KK," Sollux says in an attempt to begin a conversation.
"True that is an upside, those things are so uncomfortable they should be illegal," I reply with a sigh, sitting on the end of the bed, settling his laptop in front of me.
"Of courthe it ith your choithe to thtay here, I thaid you could go home with Thelm."
"I wouldn't want you texting me every five minutes about how bored you are, at least this way you won't drain my phone battery or incapacitate my ability to type," I reply shortly, but grinning at the screen.
"You know you love me though," Sollux whispers in a sing-song voice. I just keep my gaze on the screen as I smile.
