Chapter Thirty Six Immortals

Hey everyone! I just wanna say I'm sorry for being away for the past couple of weeks but hopefully I won't need big long breaks like that again any time soon! Thanks for being patient.

Scarlett POV

After being shoved down the stairs by Julien, dragged to the edge of the room and chained to the god damn wall, I found myself contemplating my entire existence.

You know, last year, if someone had told me that I'd be a vampire, locked up by other vampires, waiting for my vampire friends, the Cullens, and my werewolf ex-boyfriend (CRY FACE) to come save me, I would've laughed and told them that no way the Cullens would want to be my friend. Idiot.

But I did befriend the baby Cullen, and look where that got me? Chained to a wall in a dark basement like I'm in Silence of the Lambs or something. Lame.

I pulled as hard as I could but I have noodles arms so nothing happened.

"Help!"

Like that would help, being that the only people up there are freaks.

I let myself sag against the wall, feeling tired and dizzy. I was hungry and in need of Seth.

Who dumps the person they depend on to make their heart whole? Is that not silly? Is that not a silly, silly mistake?

I closed my eyes, my head rested against the wall. I had to get out of here. I had to go and tell Seth what an idiot I was. I completely understood why Rose couldn't trust me after everything that happened.

After all, I had trusted the bad guys with my whole heart. I suck.

"Seth, come help me. Please." I muttered, twisting the yarn ring he'd given me forever ago. It felt like forever ago, even though it wasn't.

God. I sighed, looking down at it, wishing that I'd just said yes and trapped him in marriage.

I mean, you have no idea how hard it is to be kidnapped and dealing with being dumped, alright? It sucks.

I groaned, resting my head against the wall again, my eyes closed.

I lightly tapped my head off the wall, silently pleading with Seth to come get me.

I heard rain, it was soothing, a good beat to tap my head too as well.

Wait-

Rain?

Pretty loud rain?

I opened my eyes, looking up.

Okay. This just in: I suck.

There was a window. It had a net screen on it but- It was still a window. It was about a foot and half taller than me, so I had to jump, but because of my rocking vampire bod, it took me no time to grab onto the ledge. I beat on it twice, breaking the screen and glass easily, despite my weakened strength.

This was it.

I thanked any god that was listening that I was so tiny as I wiggled my body through the tiny window, into the dark night of outside, desperately trying to get through before I heard a change in the actions of the vampires upstairs. My fingers dug into the dirt as I tried to get leverage and pull myself through.

I could hear them moving. They'd obviously heard the window and realized something was wrong.

Damn it. Damn it!

I pulled myself all the way through, getting up and taking off in a sprint into the surrounding woods. I had no idea where I was, having been led the whole way by Clementine and Happy.

I could hear them gaining on me, tracking me easily through the woods using years of experience I was sure I'd never gain.

"Seth!" I screamed, hoping it would be enough. If they caught me, I wasn't going down without a fight, that much I was sure of.

"Scarlett!"

I turned to see Happy charging at me. His face twisted into a sneer. It was weird the way that someone named Happy could look so... Cruel. He looked pissed. Probably because of whatever the hell I did to Clementine and the baby.

I threw my hands out, trying to hurt him, but he was too strong, and I was already weak. He easily caught me in his arms you know, the one I just rebuilt? Life is so funny sometimes, right?), and I could only struggle as he walked back through the trees, effortlessly, like I didn't even have an effect on him.

When we got back within sight of the house, he shoved me into Julien's waiting arms. He carried me roughly up the stairs, not caring that my legs were dragging across the floor, treating me like a rag doll.

He shoved me on the floor of the living room. kicking me twice in the stomach before grabbing my hair and turning me to look at Clementine, who lay on the sofa, her hair plastered across her forehead with sweat, her skin even paler than it's usual ivory shade.

She looked ill, despite being a member of the immortal undead.

Julien ripped at my hair again, his lips touching my ear as he spoke in a sinister whisper-

"You did this."

"I don't know what you're talking about."

He pulled again. "Your little trick. Her body is dying. You're killing her."

I shivered at his words. I wasn't a murderer, I was just a girl trying to get away from three weirdo kidnappers.

"Well, I don't know what you want me to say." I muttered, yelling internally at myself for even speaking. "I don't know how to stop it."

"It's simple, really, Scarlett." Julien whispered in my ear. "If she doesn't give us a baby, you will."

"Get off of me."

He only moved closer, tugging my hair harder, his knuckles going white with how hard he was pulling.

"Personally, I think our children will be adorable."

I shivered again, trying to move away. He laughed, pushing me away roughly, causing my head to fall to the ground.

Clementine suddenly screamed. Happy ran to help her, brushing her blonde hair away from her face, allowing her to hold his hand. Julien merely glanced over.

"It will happen soon."

"What if she dies? What if this thing kills her?" Happy pleaded, stroking her arm.

Julien shrugged, moving back over to me, grabbing my forearm roughly.

"Julien?" Happy mumbled again.

"It doesn't matter. Scarlett can raise her child if it comes to it." He was dragging me across the floor to the staircase leading upstairs. I looked at Happy, begging him silently to help.

He looked down, then at Clementine, before looking back to me with hatred in his eyes.

"Don't be too long." He muttered towards Julien before returning to Clementine.

Julien grabbed me by both arms, hauling me upwards so that our chests were pressed against one another. He didn't speak, only looking down at me with his sinister grin.

"Get off of me!" I screamed, pushing at him.

He'd thrown me down on one of the beds in the house, hovering over me. His hands held my waist, his chest pressing mine down, his face twisted into that smile again.

"Why would I do that?" He chuckled at me.

"Stay away from me you freak!" I shoved at him again, but it had no effect.

"You're a tiny ball of passion, aren't you?"

"Oh my god." I rolled my eyes as he laughed to himself again.

"Come on, now. I'm sure this will be much more enjoyable than a sweaty dog-"

"I'm going to vomit."

"Is that part of your gift?"

"You're a weirdo and you need to remove yourself from my personal space."

"Of course, that sweaty dog wasn't very much interested in you, even with that silly little bond you were talking about."

I could only frown. Harsh, bro.

"No, no, he didn't want you at all, did he?"

He laughed again, and I resisted the urge to cry.

"Maybe he was as disgusted by me as I am of you." I grinned. He laughed again.

"Oh, Scarlett. I do enjoy you." He whispered it, his nose running along my face. I jumped, but couldn't go anywhere with him pinning me down.

I could barely move before the lizard mouth was back on mine. I held my breath, inflating my cheeks, my mouth a thin line and an impenetrable fortress of steel. I squeezed my eyes shut, focusing on the background noise.

Clementine moaning in pain, Happy whispering words of love, a tapping on the door.

No lizard tongue was getting in my mouth tonight, no sir-

"Di' you hea' tha'?" I murmured.

His head snapped up and I let my mouth relax.

There was a loud bang, and suddenly screaming and yelling.

"Scarlett!"

"Nessie?" I murmured, opening my eyes. Julien's eyes were as wide as saucers. I laughed at him.

He shoved a hand on my neck, pushing hard, obviously trying to break it.

Can't I catch a break?!

"Ness!" I tried to yell but my voice became hoarse as Julien cut off my air supply.

My brain felt fuzzy as Julien tried to snap my head off of my body. I couldn't see anything from where Julien had me trapped on the bed. He was suddenly ripped away from me, my head immediately becoming clear.

I sat up, watching as Seth tore into Julien in his wolf form. He tore him limb from limb, scattering pieces of him around the room.

I couldn't speak. I could only watch in awe.

I didn't feel bad, or sorry, or anything.

Seth stopped, turning towards me, walking over slowly.

I reached out to stroke his fur, suddenly stopping, remembering that it wasn't okay for me to just touch him as I pleased anymore.

"Uh... Thanks."

God.

Did I just fricken thank someone for saving my life?

I hate me.

"Scarlett!" I heard Nessie scream, and suddenly she was in the room.

She sprinted over and hugged me, throwing all of her weight against me. I had my arms clasped tight around her before I even knew what I was doing.

"Ah-! Half vampire problems." She giggled, pulling my arms looser. "I'm not as strong as you, remember?" She grinned.

"What about the others?"

She looked down, her smile falling. She shook her head gently. "They attacked us, Emmett killed the boy and the girl looks pretty bad."

"What about the baby?"

Her head snapped up, her brows furrowed.

"What baby-?"

I jumped up, stepping over Julien's body parts as I ran down out of the room and down the steps as Seth and Nessie followed me.

Happy was in pieces while Clem lay on the couch looking even worse than earlier. I moved closer to her.

"She's gone, Scarlett." Carlisle said. "We're not sure how, but it's as if she were a human."

I knelt in front of her, touching her stomach lightly. Her eyes were glazed over, like a corpse, but it didn't feel like was dead to me. I couldn't explain it.

"Jacob couldn't find any other vampires in the area so it looks like they were working alone." Bella said, coming inside the house.

"Scarlett, what are you doing?" Nessie asked, walking over to me.

I closed my eyes, thinking of everything to do with babies and life, just like I always did.

"It's working." Edward said from across the room, walking closer to where I sat.

"What's working?" I heard Rose say.

"Happy!" Clementine shrieked, her whole body jerking upwards, her eyes full of life, clutching her stomach. "Where is he?!"

I jumped back, knocking Nessie out of the way as Clemetine threw herself off of the couch.

Carlisle was at her side in a minute. "You need to calm down!"

"Carlisle, her baby." Edward said.

Clementine screeched, holding her stomach.

"You're going to end up killing yourself." Carlisle tried to tell her.

She ignored him, moving towards Happy's corpse, his head disconnected from his body. His usually joyful eyes completely dead.

"You're all monsters!" She wailed, then suddenly screamed, holding her stomach again.

"Let us help you!"

Clementine gave up fighting, allowing Carlisle to examine her.
