It was barely eight thirty by the time I got back up to the dorm so I decided to go to the owlery. Not because I was going to send letter; I wasn't. But I find a peace up there that I don't get anywhere else. The hooting has reminders of comfort. When I get up there after almost slipping several times on the iced steps I make my way to the far corner. Not many owls roost in this part of the room so there aren't many droppings, but there is always one who is a bit different.

Only one owl roosts in this corner. That could be because it is the social outcast, or all the other owls are scared of it, I don't know and I doubt I ever will. But this owl likes me.

I came up here in first year to send a letter to my grandmother and all the owls started to attack me. When this owl flew down and perched in front of me all the others backed off. It stuck out its leg and delivered my message. Now none of the others will come near me.

He was in his corner again. As I sat underneath him he started to pull at my hair. He often does this so I didn't let it bother me. He would get bored after a minute. And I was right. Or he just smelled the food I had in my hands that gave me full attention of every other bird in the room.

When he realised he was quick to jump down and beg like a dog for it. I didn't hesitate in handing it over, only because I have heard enough stories of taunted owls attacking.

I would throw some up, which he would catch by flying to meet it. This never failed to make me feel better.

When I heard the main bell chime I jumped and dropped the rest of the treats which my owl only glanced at before going back to his post. As I left all the others flocked to get what they could.

Rushing back to the common room I fell over on the last step. It hurt but the throbbing faded by the time I made it to the portrait hole.

Inside the Marauders were waiting by the fire in the good seats.

"I was beginning to think you weren't going to show." Sirius said when I tumbled inside.

"I couldn't find anything better to do." I told him and sat on the ground which hurt a little from my mishap with the steps.

"Let's face it." James said. "You also really wanted to know what we were planning to do."

"That too." I agreed.

"Well we want to know to." Remus said.

"Hey!" James protested. "I had an idea."

"It was terrible." Peach said.

"It was not!"

"I think I'm on the fence on this one." Sirius said.

"I thought you liked my idea." A sad James pouted.

"Maybe with just the four of us, but not Citrus as well."

I did want to know what they were talking about, but that was just natural human curiosity. Anything that Sirius thought was a bad idea was something I didn't want to know about.

"Why don't we play chess then?" Peach suggested.

"Can we use Fred?" Sirius asked excitedly.

"No!" Peach exclaimed sharply.

"What's wrong with Fred?"

"What isn't?" Remus asked.

"Was Wynn going to join us?" James asked suddenly.

"Not if we're playing with Fred." Peach muttered.

"I forgot about him." Remus said jumping up, opening the portrait to find the boy outside.

"I thought you guys had forgotten me." He said as he climbed through to the sound on the Fat Lady's distain at having people from other houses in her area of the castle.

"We're still trying to decide what we are going to do." Remus said and Sirius hit him over the back of the head.

"Just yell it to the whole world." He said.

"Well it's true."

"But people don't need to know that about us." He hissed.

"Moving on." James said over the top of them both.

"So what ideas do you have?" Wynn asked.

"Chess is it so far." Peach said.

"I'll play chess, but not with Sirius' set." He agreed.

"I'll go get mine." Remus said.

"You will do no such thing." Sirius yelled, pulling Remus to the ground to stop him going anywhere.

"We are not playing with Fred." James said.

"Then we won't play chess." Sirius declared.

"You just want to ruin everyone's day." Remus muttered.

"Well that's what everyone else is doing to me." He pouted.

"We could play exploding snap?" I suggested looking around the group.

"Mine went up in smoke." James said sadly.

"Mine too." Sirius agreed.

"I don't bring mine to school for that reason." Remus said.

"I've only got three cards left. Not much use here." Peach said.

"I have a deck." Wynn said.

"Go get it then." James said, pointing at the door, getting really excited.

"Alright." He got up. "Anyone want to come with me?"

"Sure." Remus said, but I think he didn't want to get into another argument with Sirius.

"We'll all go." Peach said, pulling James and Sirius up while they complained that they were too lazy.

"I'm not sure the eagle will be too happy about letting you all in." Wynn said quietly.

"We'll just wait outside then." I said, not wanting to annoy anyone called eagle, because there is always a reason for names like that.

So that was how we ended up walking down the stairs, all five of us with linked arms. There were several older students who had trouble getting past us, but under Marauders direction we stood firm and people just walked around us.

When we got to the fourth floor we turned left and walked to a large blue door that I had never seen.

"We have been all over this castle." Sirius said.

"But I have never seen that before in my life." James finished.

"It's always been here." Wynn said.

"How do you get in?" Peach asked, and I realised that it was just a door, no portrait.

"Easy." Wynn said, stepping forward and taping a gold door knocker against the wood. The door knocker was an eagle.

"Is that all?" Sirius asked.

"No, now we have to answer the riddle." Wynn said and the voice spoke.
