The Storm Dragon Slayer
Chapter 36
Epilogue
Demor bolted awake, sitting up and breathing hard, his hand grabbing at his chest as if his heart were going to burst forth from his ribcage. Sweat dripped down his forehead as he realized where he was; his and Aurix's bedroom within their home in Magnolia.
"Nightmares again, Sia Itov?" Aurix asks softly, her voice soothing him as he steadily calms and lays back down, taking comfort in the feeling of her body against his.
"It's been six years, Aurix….I grow weary of them." Demor replied softly to her, closing his eyes. Those eyes of his….tired, predatory. One was pale, useless, and blind, the other one had grown darker over the years since his fight with the three who destroyed their village.
His left eye had been blinded from another fight against a rogue Dragon about three years after that fateful battle, meaning he'd been half-blind for three years, now.
Suddenly their door opened and in walked a young boy, tears streaming down his face. "Mommy? Daddy? Can I sleep with you? I had a bad dream." He whined.
Demor chuckled and got up, walking over to his son and picking him up, carrying him to his bed. "Of course you can, my deevdru, my son." Demor said, laying his child between him and Aurix. "Daddy had a bad dream too, if you can believe it."
"Eh? You? But you're so big and strong, daddy!"
Aurix seemed to giggle, kissing her child's forehead. "Even Daddy can get nightmares, Itov." She whispered. "Now, go to sleep, and we won't have any more nightmares, okay?"
The Next Morning
There was a knock at the door, and Demor was surprised to see Zeke of all people at his door. Zeke, now a well-respected wizard within Fairy Tail, had cleaned up his act considerably; he even cursed less. Then again, he had to.
"Uncle Zeke!" Demor's son, Jiilral, the draconian word for Second, rushed forward and hugged Zeke as he laughed and picked up the small child.
"Hey! How you doin' Munchkin? You slay any dragons like your Daddy yet?" Zeke asked. At the shake of Jiilral's head, Zeke chuckled and placed the boy back down on his clawed feet, rustling his brown hair that had streaks of gold in it. "Well, don't worry. One day you'll be strong like your Papa, and you'll slay more Dragons than you can count!" He said, laughing.
Demor invited Zeke in, and he accepted, sitting at the table as Aurix poured some tea for the two of them. Zeke had also given up drinking, and after a yearlong period of "the Shakes" finally was able to look and not touch. (Zeke's own words, there)
"So, Zeke. What brings you here today? Erza get on your nerves again?" Demor joked, sipping at his tea after nodding his thanks to Aurix.
"Oh, well, she's always on my nerves about something, bud, no doubt about that." Zeke joked right back, laughing a bit. "Ah, but no. I've got news."
Demor raised his eyebrows and sipped his tea. "Do tell."
"You may want to put your tea down, first." Zeke said. After a few seconds he spoke again, his face and tone as cold as Stone.
"You are the last three Drachini alive."
Demor blinked and Aurix froze.
"Hunters around the world heard about what you did. They all came looking for you. They're no different than the three you fought six years ago." Zeke explained.
Images flashed before Demor's eyes. The explosions. The Thunder Pit, Malrunwa, the Grand Typhoon. He shook his head and leaned forward. "You're joking right? You've got to be joking!" Demor laughed nervously.
"I'm afraid that I'm not. Not this time." Zeke replied. "The entire race was wiped out practically in a few months. I have no idea why news barely reached us now. There is something going on with the world news as well; we think the Hunters may be stopping news from reaching anyone by corrupting the publishers."
"We?"
"All of Fairy Tail is in on this, Demor. Not just you and me. Erza is literally fuming. The other Dragon-Slayers are almost constantly in a state of Dragon Force they're so mad. The Rain has been falling heavier than ever as Juvia loses her temper. And the entire guild shakes from Makarov's screams." Zeke explained. "Hell, even Gildarts is focused."
Demor leaned back, and brushed his hair back, growling darkly as Aurix tried to comfort him with her touch. He gently grabbed her hand and stood. "I'll meet you outside, Zeke. Gather the guild."
Zeke left and Demor turned to face Aurix. "Aurix, I know I promised you I would never leave you again but…."
"Shh. Such a promise cannot be kept by a Wizard. Let alone by you, Demor." Aurix's tone was surprisingly gentle at the moment, and it unnerved Demor. "Go. I will keep our child safe. And you better return to your son, if not to me." She said, her tone suddenly deadly before kissing his lips and then turning to go and play with her child.
Demor grabbed his signature GI and threw it on; it still fit perfectly, and was tougher than ever thanks to Aurix's constant additions of armor plates and heavy weaving. Demor then donned his brown cloak again and opened his door stepping outside.
Before him the entire Guild stood ready.
"Fairy Tail! Today we declare war on all things Dark! Our first objective: Free the News publishers, Our second objective: destroy all Evil!"
With a resounding cry the entire guild left the town in a fury, splitting up into two to four man teams as usual. In a matter of days all the News Publishers were freed and no longer corrupted, and within weeks, major organizations of crime, no matter how petty, were being eradicated all over the entire globe.
Within months, Fairy Tail couldn't really be considered a guild as it was worldwide; with Guild Halls in every major city in the world stationed with members ranging from no magic capabilities to S-ranked Mages strong enough to give Gildarts a run for his money five times over.
By the time all that had been accomplished, Demor had finished killing the last hunter who had taken the life of a Drachini. He had focused his efforts solely on that and that alone, and he had accomplished it. Through Wendy's newfound healing power, he regained vision in his left eye, and could fight hard and fast enough to be considered a God Slayer. But his Magic was still that of a Dragon's.
As the last hunter fell from his claw and Demor returned to his normal form; his cape and clothing in tatters on his body, a large crash was heard behind him. He turned, and so did Zeke, the Phoenix Talons in hand as they looked up at the massive creature before them.
Demor only smiled at the beast.
"Hello, Annyo Mitne."
