"Maddie where did that come from?" Will asked her.

"I don't know. I want a mommy but only if it's JJ and Mia said that her daddy wasn't her daddy at first but now he is."

"Maddie, I love you." JJ started not sure how she was going to finish.

"I love you too. So why can't you be my mommy?"

"JJ and I are not saying that one day she won't be your mommy but right now we are still trying to figure everything out."

JJ decided it was time for her to say something, even if she was scared out of her mind.

"Maddie, I would be very lucky for you to be my daughter and if I am lucky one day you will be. Right now, your daddy and I are not at that place in our relationship but that doesn't mean that I can't do all the things with you that you want to do. Mia's mommy and Jamie have been together for a really long time and Jamie just became Mia's daddy. It takes time but I love you and will always be here for you. Do you understand?"

"I think. One day you may be my mommy but you and daddy have to love each other longer."

"You have it right." JJ smiling.

"Maddie, you know if you have questions or want to talk to us all you have to do is say something." Will told her.

"Mia and I had a fight because she said JJ couldn't be mommy." She started.

"Why did she tell you that?" JJ asked.

"She said that I already have a mommy but she didn't have a daddy. I tried to tell her I don't remember my mommy but she said it's not the same."

"Mia doesn't understand that there isn't a difference. Do you want to know about your mom?" Will asked her.

JJ could see that Maddie was conflicted, she looked at JJ then back at Will.

"I think so."

"Maddie it's not going to hurt mine or your daddy's feelings. Remember I told you my daddy was with the angels too." JJ explained.

"I remember."

"Well, Dave and my mom have to tell me stories about him. I don't remember a lot about him."

Maddie nodded.

"Was she nice?" Maddie asked Will.

"She was and she loved you."

"Why did she go to the angels?"

Will looked at JJ, this was the part he didn't want to explain to her. JJ stood up, walking over to the other side of Maddie before she sat back down.

"Sometimes nice people have problems and even though I know that she loved you. Your mommy had problems, unfortunately she couldn't get away from them. Right now you are to young to explain everything to but what is important is that you know that she loved you." She explained.

"Did you know my mommy?"

"I didn't know her well but I did know her." JJ told her.

"Was she pretty?"

"She was, you have her smile." Will responded.

"Can I see a picture?"

"When we get home, I will show you."

"Okay."

"Maddie, anytime you have a question you just let us know." JJ told her.

"Okay but I would still like for you to be my mommy someday."

JJ and Will both smiled at her.

"Can you eat your sandwich now?" Will asked.

"Yes."

"Then we will go back to the room and spend some more time together."

They finished their food before walking back to the hotel, Maddie walked between JJ and Will holding their hands. She was more talkative on the way back, pointing out different stores and telling them jokes.

Will went to his room to change while JJ and Maddie changed in their room, the plan was to find something on TV and lay in bed. Maddie had fell asleep before Will came back to the room, she was laying in the bed. JJ was glad there was a sofa in the room that they could sit and talk without bugging Maddie. Will came in the room about ten minutes after Maddie fell asleep, joining JJ on the sofa.

"I can't believe she's asleep." He told her.

"It's been a long day for her and I think she is mentally exhausted."

"You did amazing with her today, I didn't know how to answer her questions."

"Thank you. Honestly I'm not sure that I answered it correctly, I don't want her to be mad at us when she is old enough to understand why her mom isn't here."

He smiled, she did see a future with them.

"I hope she understands that we want her to know the person she was before everything else. Did you mean what you said about being her mom?"

"Yes, I know that we are not there yet but I do hope I am lucky enough that one day I will be her mom."

"I can see it, us in the future with her and maybe a couple more."

"Me too." As she cuddled against him.

They sat there talking most of the night about what their future could hold for them.

Please let me know what you think.
