Chapter 36

No One's POV

Alice sat on the grass and stared at the lake in the front. The sun had almost set and it had started to turn dark. The street light had flickered on but she paid no heed to it. She had cried for who knows how long after she spoke those words to Shun and in presence of their friends.

She put her head on her knees, crossing her arms over them. 'I have hurt him… I have hurt them…'. The thoughts caused her to cry again and she closed her eyes to stop the tears.

"Thought you would be here"

Alice snapped her eyes open and looked up at the person standing beside her. Klaus stood with one hand in his pocket while the other holding a bag.

"K-san… Why are y-you here?" asked Alice as she wiped her tears with her sleeve. Klaus sighed.

"You don't want to talk to me as well, Alice?" he asked instead. "I'm just checking up on you. Your grandpa had given me the responsibility to look after you, you forgot?" he added and took a seat next to her.

"You… don't have to…" said Alice, looking at the lake again.

"I visited Dr. Michael a while ago… He's still asleep and he'll be up and alright soon" said Klaus and sighed when Alice merely nodded at him. "Did… he really fell and got injured…?" he asked and saw her stiffen at the question.

"K-san… What's more important is… he is fine now…" replied Alice, staring at the lake. Klaus frowned as she avoided the question and was talking without looking at him, as if she was avoiding looking at him.

"Yeah…" he muttered. He wanted to ask how she brought her grandfather to the hospital but restrained himself from asking, judging from the situation. 'Looks like she still wants to be alone…' he thought and sighed.

"Here, I brought you food" he added, handing her the bag.

Alice looked him surprised. "I'm not hungry…" she said.

Klaus put the bag aside and didn't press any further. He didn't want to leave her alone as he thought it was his responsibility for being her friend… Yes. He's her friend. So… he has to do what a friend must do…

"I heard from Keith. Why did you do that? You hate them so much? Kazami must be feeling awful, you know…" he spoke after a pause, looking at the lake.

"K-san… I don't want to talk about it, p-please…" Alice said, closing her eyes as she faced away from Klaus to wipe her tears that were threatening to fall. Klaus sighed again.

"Alright, I won't force you to tell me. But… you look more hurt then the others" continued Klaus, looking at her. He frowned.

"No, I'm not" she denied.

"Then why were you crying so much? Its guilt, right?" he countered, stubbornly.

"…" she couldn't hide the surprise that crossed her face.

"Well… Kazami isn't dumb, you know. Sooner or later he'll find out whatever the reason is. What will you do then?" he challenged.

"K-san… I'll soon leave to Russia when my Grandpa recovers… It's for the better. I have already caused so much pain to them" she stared at the ground, her voice quiet. Klaus knitted his eyebrows at that.

"And you'll be alright with it? I know you love him and he doesn't know that. And it's not my job to tell him that, it's yours... And I don't know the reason why you did all this but running away is not an option"

"I'm not running away…"

Kazami Corp.

"I can't believe he just came back and started working…" Dan said and sighed. He looked absolutely worried.

"He didn't even say a word about it after that…" said Runo, patting Dan's shoulder as if telling him to calm down.

"Yeah… He even attended the conference just like that" added Ace.

"Hey! Don't forget he snapped at me like… more than ten times!" exclaimed Dan, flailing his hands for emphasis.

"What's so new in that, Slacker?" Keith said, rolling his eyes.

"Hmph! It's just that I can't concentrate after all that! And he's working like a…uhh… A ROBOT! I'm worried now…" Dan said, his voice trailing at the end.

There was a silence after that as everyone looked down with different thoughts running through their minds… That's when…

"What are you guys mumbling about? Hurry up and leave to your homes. All the other employees are dismissed so you guys should leave too" stated Shun, making the others surprised.

"You are leaving early, Shun? It's barely seven! Why?" questioned Dan with a slight frown.

"Do I have to take your permission, Dan?" Shun shot back, with a tone of authority. The others watched the interaction between their boss and his assistant with anticipation.

"Stop it" stated Dan, annoyed.

"Stop what?" Shun asked, looking stoic.

"Stop acting so cool and aloof, darn it! It's making me mad!"

"It doesn't concern you or anyone here. So buzz off of my case"

"You Idiot!" shouted Dan and snapped back angrily, "I know what you are trying to do! You are just pretending to be alright but you are hurting inside!"

"No, I'm not. Well… I'm hurt, I admit. Go home and take rest all of you" Shun said and sighed in annoyance.

"But… you are not behaving like yourself. You're hiding something, aren't you? You should have punched me by now" said Dan, quirking his eyebrow at Shun in suspicion. Shun looked irritated now…

"Yeah? Take that" muttered Shun as he punched Dan on the face and exhaled. "Now that feels better…" he muttered while Dan held his face, groaning and cursing at his boss…

"WHAT WAS THAT FOR?! DO YOU WANT TO BREAK MY JAW?! HAVE YOU GONE INSANE, YOU MORON?!" blabbered Dan as he inspected his jaw which was… not hurt in any way.

"You asked for it" stated Shun, rolling his eyes. The others glanced at each other and shook their heads.

"No, Shun. He's right… that you are acting strange" said Keith, his voice serious. The others nodded at that and continued pointing out the same thing, causing Dan to smirk.

"You guys are so stubborn…" stated Shun. Everyone gave him a 'Look who's talking' look and rolled their eyes. "Alice was lying" he continued.

Silence…..

"WHAT?!

"Then why are you still here? And how can you tell?" asked Julie and everyone had the same questions.

"She was scared" answered Shun. He could tell that the gears in his friends' heads were spinning in understanding as they stood there in thinking poses.

"You mean… She wanted us to leave so that we should not be seen with her" Keith said breaking the silence.

"That means it's not her… it's someone else, I see…" Ace added.

"And we all can guess who that might be…" Mira spoke and most of them nodded at her sentence.

"Can you guys stop speaking in suspense?! It's making me more confused!" exclaimed Dan, darting his eyes between his friends. "I think… I got the hang of it" he added in the next moment, grinning slightly at Runo who was beside him while the others talked among themselves.

"Whatever" muttered Runo. She inspected his cheek with her hand for any damage but found none and shrugged before joining the others, leaving a blushing Dan behind.

Later that evening…

"Are you sure about this…? I mean… we still have a chance to back out…" said Ren, suddenly feeling his collar tighten around his neck although it was loose. He sweat dropped when his partner rolled her eyes at him.

"It's too late for that. We are already here!" replied Fabia and smirked at him.

"Uhh… And why are we here…?" questioned Dan, glancing around the area. Behind him, his friends stood, namely- Runo, Julie, Mira, Ace, Billy, Keith and Baron. All of them had questioning looks.

"I only called Dan, Keith and Ace though…" said Ren, looking at Fabia who sighed.

"I thought we are having a night out so I invited the others! And now I guess… it's not a night out…?" said Dan, causing others to face-palm.

Ren had called the three and insisted them not to tell their boss about this but he didn't know Dan would call others and bring them as well. They all were currently standing near the lake, in the darkness of the night… not that it was too dark as there were street lamps all over the place. They had too many questions regarding the venue of the place as well as why were they even here in the first place.

"Anyway, I need your help. We are going to abduct my father" said Fabia, nonchalantly.

Silence….

"WHAAAAAATTT?!"

Ren sighed at their outburst while Fabia shrugged. Ren was not surprised as he was the first victim of this information and he had the similar outburst then. Keith took a seat on the bench near them while the others still stared at Fabia with wide eyes.

"Okay… She has officially gone mad. Uhh… Ren? Why don't you take her home?" Dan broke the silence. All the men chuckled and the ladies glanced at each other except Fabia who glared at Dan.

"And for that you told us to bring this van?" asked Billy, shocked, pointing at the van that he had parked a few meters away.

"Guys, she is not joking" Ren cut in and then laughed, looking away from Fabia.

"So you also think that your father is behind Alice's disappearance, huh? Whoa… I sense a rebellion…" said Keith, crossing his legs. He smirked when Fabia nodded.

"Yes… I'm just trying to do what I think is right for once…" said Fabia, looking at the ground, slightly abashed. The others blinked surprised to see her like that. "And don't tell any of this to Shun, p-please. He'll instantly reject the idea and even send us home after giving us a handful of lecture" she added, as if stating the obvious. The others snickered at that.

"You mean you finally give up on Shun?" asked Julie.

"Uhh… Yeah. I'm too good for him anyway" replied Fabia, flipping her hair, causing the others to roll their eyes. "Besides… He loves her and… she's my friend. I was wrong. I want to apologize to everyone... for my previous behavior…" she added, slightly bowing at them. The others looked at her awkwardly.

"It's fine. No need for the formalities" said Runo and smiled.

"Yeah" added Mira. "Besides, Alice's friend is our friend" Julie cut in and all the others smiled. Fabia smiled wholeheartedly.

"Thank you… Anyway, father will be here shortly. I have heard him talking on the phone that he's going to meet someone here in sometime. Be prepared guys. I don't want this to mess up as this is the way we can get him to confess" explained Fabia.

"Yeah-yeah. For your kind information, we are new in kidnapping business" stated Ace, sarcastically causing others to laugh.

"This is kind of exciting… but is that alright if we don't tell this to our Boss?" asked Baron.

"Hey, we are doing this for him. He'll be grateful you know! I think he will be…?" said Dan, as he gave a thinking pose as if questioning unsurely.

"I sense obvious doubtfulness in your words, Dan the man…" muttered Baron and sweat dropped.

"Wait… this place is near the City hospital. What if…?" started Runo but was interrupted.

"Nah. It's late so Alice should be with her grandfather. Why would she be around at this hour, Sweety?" said Dan, shrugging and everyone else nodded in agreement. Runo noted his sarcasm and glared at him. Dan grinned at her and continued, "Once this is over, let's go and grab some coffee together?"

"Come on, let's hide behind the trees" said Ren, snapping Dan and a blushing Runo from their 'talk' as they followed others hurriedly.

"Oyi? Who's going to attack him, by the way?" questioned Dan, standing behind the trees.

"Of course, you men… We ladies will just watch from here. Ren, you have the chloroform, right? You know what to do. Once he passes out, the others will get him in the van. Cover your faces with these" said Fabia, handing them a small bag and she hid with the other ladies.

"Wow… they actually came prepared…" muttered Ace while the others watched intently for Mr. Sheen to arrive.

Meanwhile…

Shun glanced at Klaus then at Gunz Lahar, his face stoic. Klaus sat on one of the chairs across the cop as if waiting for Shun. The three nodded at each other in greeting. Shun's eyes then darted across what seemed like an interrogation room and landed on the two men who were seated on a bench a few feet away from Klaus and Gunz, handcuffed. Shun smirked before questioning…

"So these are the ones?"
